I need to get more memory for my wife's computer, she only has 256 MB now and is complaining about it running slow (internet and other programs).

However, I have no idea what all the coding/words on it mean.

I figured I'd just go to Amazon and order some or run down to Best Buy, but I want to kinda know what I'm getting.

There is a white sticker on one of the black chips that reads:

Elpida Japan
EBD25UC8AJFA-7A
PC2100U-20330-B1
256MB 0248K22056

on the black chip it reads:

Elpida Singapore
DD2508AJTA-7A
0243JE008000

on the side with the sticker there are 4 black chips in the 9 "spots"

Chip, blank, chip, blank, blank, blank, chip, blank, chip

the other side is everyother one Blank then chip.

looking at it from the side with the sticker the part that goes into the mother board is on the left adn the "notch" is a little less than half way up.

thanks for any and all help.

it's PC-2100 memory, something that's pretty common.

FYI.....if you ever need to figure out what RAM your computer uses, just go to a site like http://www.crucial.com. They have a utility that can help you figure out which form of RAM you need.

Newegg.com and Crucial.com both have memory selectors where you can enter computer type (if bought from someone) or motherboard type (if you built yourself or know it) and will tell you what memory is compatible.

You also need to know how high you can go, which will depend on how old the machine is.
