Just a poll to see how many people actually pay for these sites. They seem like quite the racket to me.

I signed up a long time ago but have never paid for anything.

I figure if none of the asswhites I went to HS with were a friend today, they weren't that groovy to worry about. So, I have no desire or need to know what any of them are up to.

I had a subscription a number of years ago, I was on my HS Reunion Committee, so we purchased one to try to track people down. That was before myspace and facebook were launched (yes, I'm old), I think if we had to do the same thing today we would focus on those sites instead, but at the time, they were really the only options out there.

I haven't signed up at all, but I don't hate everyone from my school days (only like 80%). But the last one was closest to correct so I picked that one.

I would not pay for these sites. If I REALLY wanted to find an old HS or college friend, that's what Facebook is for.

I have to think that unless a ton of baby boomers are using these sites, they'll go bust soon. My brother is 35, my sister is 32, and they and all their old friends have been on Facebook for at least 6 months. Makes sense that the user age will keep on going up as time moves on.

I signed up for a number of these sites. I'm on classmates.com, reunion.com, match.com, southernsingles.com, purina.com, etc. I found a girl who had a huge crush on me back in fifth grade, a guy who was in two of my Spanish classes in college, my first and second boyfriends, a pit bull, and my wife through some of these sites. They're really great, but I just use the free versions, as I can't afford to pay to find people.

Yeah, these sites are pretty much useless. I signed up on both, but would never pay. About the only thing they are good for is targeting reunions/lost friends (and myspace is a bit too general for that and hasn't attracted as many older people who affiliate themselves with high schools, I've found), but so few people care enough to spend money that it's just not worth it. A girl I went to HS with sent me a message about our reunion next year, gave me her email address in the message (since I needed to be a member to write her back on the site), and we chatted through email. So it worked, but not in the way they probably hoped it would.
