KINOKI FOOTPADS: Put these pads on your feet and they get dirty.

vs.

CASH4GOLD: Put all your gold in a sack and send it to us.

vs.

Vince from SHAMWOW!: "Made in Germany, you know the Germans always make good stuff."

vs.

That guy selling some kind of colon cleanse product who spends a half-hour talking about pulling a rope out of your butt.

Pretty good video (especially having worked with a client who secretly wanted to be Billy Mays when he grew up).

Missed opportunity for the final shot though ... the "you don't need a damn cabinet full of ... " line would have be perfect to follow with cuts of every product name in the video.

And vince looks bitchin in his headset. Headsets always add credability

I have a mancrush on Vince, he looks like they pulled him straight off the boardwalk. I assume he got paid $50, cash, for that ad.

CASH4GOLD is still my fave though, they never discuss the rate of exchange at all, just PUT YOUR GOLD IN A SACK AND SEND IT TO US! BONUS: worst actors ever. Also, they never mention it in the ad, but somewhere in there the word "DENTAL" floats ominously across the screen. PUT YOUR TEETH IN A SACK AND SEND THEM TO US!

My father and I are infomercial product junkies...we've bought the bags you vaccuum air out of (before you could buy them in stores), the Ronco Rotisserie oven, the Ronco Knife Set (which is awesome btw), the X Grill (I think that is what it's called), and a few other things I can't remember.

Yeah, I know...I'm a dork. My husband has pointed this fact out on more than one occasion when he's caught me watching an infomercial. :(

LOL! I have those too! Didn't order them online though, found them at Rite-Aid :) I also have some cool broom thing, it's awesome on carpet, gets all the pet hair and stuff up and out of the carpet...we use that thing all the time.

Oh - add the Magic Bullet Blender to the list too...doesn't work as well as what they show on TV but still pretty cool. :D

I wonder how many people fail to read the Terms & Conditions at the Cash4Gold.com website.

I had an odd dream after seeing that commercial one too many times, incidentally.

I love the government's transition to digital tv informericial. It is always on when I am at the gym on Saturday mornings and I actually watch it to crack up every time.

My three favorite parts:
1) A grandpa has rabbit ears that don't work anymore and is about to take a hammer to his tv when the government guy comes in with the converter and saves the day.
2) They interview a horse to see if he knows about the digital transition.
3) The best... A couple goes to the store and buys a digital converter. And then they show them at home watching tv on like a $4000 plasma with a $10000 leather couch in super home theater. Like they wouldn't already have cable or satelite.

These might not be that funny the way I am describing them, but the informerical is really good.

You must not be the only one, because they keep making informercials.

The success of infomercials, and of ads known as "PI's" aka Per Inquiry (stations are paid on the basis of the number of calls/sales/leads generated) still amazes me after years around the business.

We've got a client running some very aggressive PI right now and the ROI is downright staggering.

Do you have a tweezie?

Tweezie looks like a torture device. Seriously, that thing sends shivers down my spine. I'd like to shove it in my nose and just let it tear out a thousand hairs at the root...and subsequently die from shock.

Oh - add the Magic Bullet Blender to the list too...

I heart the Magic Bullet infomercial as well...does it really take a half hour to sell me a smaller blender? And they put a LOT of work into it, with some contrived bread and breakfast set-up, and an entire gang of 'characters'....that's one high-concept infomercial.

My cable provider offers some random HD channel called UHD (I believe it's Universal High Definition), and there's some worthwhile programming on there.....but the majority of the ads are oddly for crappy infomercial products. Anybody else get this channel? I love it.

I freakin' loved that infomercial the first time i saw it. That old woman in the housecoat and with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth was the best.

I still watch that one if I catch it on, also the X Grill thingy too - it's the blonde curly haired woman making like 7 or 8 dishes for some guy...she cooks bisquick pancake thingys with link sausages inside, makes cornbread mix and buries a hot dog inside it (which is really yummy!), "stuffed soup" (which is also really yummy), it's really cook and convenient to make a quick meal - kind of like a Foreman Grill but smaller and not perfectly flat.

That colon cleansing commercial FREAKS me out...he is not human!

I've seen the Hercules Hooks at a few stores around, I'll have to pick up a set and see how they do...I do have a few really heavy things I've avoided hanging b/c I was afraid they'd rip out of the wall...I think I might have a good weekend project for my hubby!!! :)

well I think each hook will hold 50 lbs, so we have one cabinet type thing we hung over the back of a toilet for toiletries and stuff and it worked fine. I also used them to hang up grill tools on the inside of my pantry (the one Ashley worked on much to my dismay).
