Ping web cam users

Long story short I just moved 3000 miles from my niece and nephews whose father is dead and they need a father figure, niece is 9 nephews are 7 year old twins.

In order to still be a presence in their lives I want to get webcams for us to set up weekly times when I can talk to them about things.

Any advice on relativly cheap options?

Do most come with the software and microphones?

Is it easy for my computer illiterate sister to set up and monitor?

I usually go with Logitech because the price is comparable with other brands and the quality is generally better. I believe that all of them now come with built in microphones or have a separate mic, and installation software as well. You should be able to get a decent one for under $40.

my father and I had these when he was stationed in Afgan. and you can even recored and e-mail a message too...they worked great.

Logitech does put out a good product. I hooked up a Logitech cam at my in-laws house in NYC so that they can see their granddaughter regularly. I will do the dame for my mother the next time I am out in the great Northwest.

We use Windows Live Messenger as our video conferencing program. The price can't be beat. It can get a little choppy from time to time and the calls will occasionally drop. But it is so easy that even my computer illiterate in-laws can use it. And did I mention that the price is right?
