One of the my best experiences with OOTP4 was simming a fictional league inspired by the "Little League Baseball" dynasty over at the .400 studios forums. I'd re-create my friends as baseball players and track them through my little digital baseball universe. Even those who weren't big baseball fans had fun tracking themselves, watching rivalries build, tracking the awards their alter egos piled up.

With the enhanced stat tracking of OOTP5, I've found it even more enjoyable and immersive to run such a league. So I figured I'd see if anyone from FOFC might be interested in entering my little world. *sinister cackle*

The EMBA, or Eastern Massachusetts Baseball Association was founded in 2003. My first virtual self was drafted into the league in 2021 in the 1st round, 2nd pick overall by Ipswich. Management, seeing my amazing pitching talent immediately thrust me into the big leagues... Where I soon learned humility over course of two abyssmal seasons going 3-8 (6.03 era) and 4-6 (5.59). 2023 is when I found my sweet spot and started my climb to being one of the fan favorites in the EMBA.

The year is now 2045, and the EMBA finds itself short on talent and looking for new blood. Who will answer the call?

Borrowing from the successor of the LBL, the "Major League Boneheads". This is how players will be created:

1. You get 9 points to allocate.
2. You can edit the TALENTS of players not just the ratings.
3. You start at age 18 (or older) and play until you retire.

I've already put Eilim Jr. in the league, time for another star pitcher in the family.. :)

The EMBA will be run at a fast pace, with a season simmed every 2 days. (Can't help it, I'm impatient.) I will be posting a brief synopsis of the season and any created players. I'll also be putting up links to the season end html stat dump on my website. Due to problems with my normal webhost, for the first two weeks I won't be uploading the box scores, or player cards for any non-created players other than career leaders. Sorry about this, but my isp webspace I'm using in the interim only allows 10 megs.If theres a specific player who's stats you'd like to check out, just let me know and I'll upload his card. I've currently got the 2044 season up if you want to take a look at how the league has developed over the years.

I'll be adding the team logos and nicknames as soon as I can decide between going completely fictional or using the ones of the towns/cities schools.

Well, hope some of you feel like joining the fun. If not, your going to get the pleasure of following a few generations of me playing through the league. :)

--Avoiding hits vsL & vsR & TALENT - 2

-Getting K's vsL & vsR & TALENT - 2

On skills listed like these, its actually 3 different ratings. VsL, VsR, and talent. From my experience (in other words, guess. :) ) the Vsl and Vsr are actual current ratings. Talent on the other hand seems to be a "Future Potential" stat.

As an example, in my first ceated player, http://home.attbi.com/~emba/r928.html , I only applied points to TALENT ratings, looking more towards what I wanted him to develop into rather than worrying about his early impact or shaping a specific player type:

-Avoiding hits TALENT 2
-Avoiding doubles TALENT 1
-Avoiding homeruns TALENT 2
-Avoiding bb's TALENT 2
-Getting K's TALENT 2

I only slightly changed things with his "son", but plan on trying some different combos of stats in future generations just to see what happens. :)

The only other thing I see missing is your pitch selection.

*All pitchers are 2-4 pitch pitchers (pick 2-4 they do not cost any points)
Fastball
Changeup
Curveball
Slider
Screwball
Sinker
Splitfinger
Knuckleball

I plan on simming 2045 sometime tonight, so when you get this info to me I'll add you into either the 2045, or 2046 amateur draft. Welcome to the EMBA, hope you have a successful career. :)
