View Full Version : What word am I thinking of...

I'm writing up an e-mail for work and I've had a brainfreeze. The sentence is:
"Because the replication had not been configured correctly, the data contained within the database was ...."
And that's where I hit my snag. I want to say the data in the database is out-dated, but I know there is a technical term for this that is right on the tip of my tongue. What word would ya'll use here?

No that's two words. Just,
Fucked.

If the data is good, I believe the technical term is gnarly.

All correct answers (especially JPhillips' in this particular case), but maybe I'm going crazy or something but none of these look like the word I'm sorta maybe thinking of... RE-something. I don't know. Maybe I shouldn't have dropped so much acid on the way in to work this morning?

Inaccessible in it's intended form.
Erroneous.
Useless.
Damaged.
Tainted.
Besmirched.
And insted of "is" I'd use "has been."

I thought of that one, too. Like the failed cyclic redundancy check thing.
For the lulz, however, I will suggest "Ridonkulous".

I was thinking antiquated, but maybe it was something like reticulated splines.

The replication or synchronization would become degraded. Not sure what the data becomes when the replication is out of sync...

It's hard to read Groundhogs posts because the voice in my head is trying to sound like paul hogan and I don't read well that way.

I know the email has been sent by now, but I would probably either say the data is invalid or the data needs to be resynced.

The data inherently introduces variation. Variation is bad.

FWIW I barely go a week without other Australians asking me where I'm from. I hang around with too many foreign friends and it has really bastardized my Aussie accent.
