I usually go in the summer and hit the beach and a Durham Bulls game. Not really sure what to do there in the winter.

It's still around, although I haven't been there in ten years. If you like steak, The Angus Barn (http://www.angusbarn.com/) would be well worth stopping by on your visit.

I'd normally recommend a Hurricanes game if you're into hockey, but it looks like their next home game is on Wednesday night so you'll miss it. Angus Barn is still around and is a good meal - though there are a lot of other nice restaurants around here too.

Also if you're a beer drinker then Tyler's Taproom is a great place to go.

Also I can't recommend Goodberry's (frozen custard) highly enough - several locations around the area.

Bullocks BBQ in Durham and Allen & Sons BBQ outside of Chapel Hill and Cooper's BBQ in Raleigh are all good NC BBQ places.

Angus Barn is good for steaks.

Some of my favorite restaurants in the Triangle are Sawasdee (thai in N. Raleigh), Suchi (Indian in Cary), Waraji (Sushi in Raleigh), Bella Monica (calzones in Raleigh), Abbey Road (best burgers in the Triangle in Cary), Lily's (pizza in Raleigh).

Locopops are fun popsicles (one close to Bullocks in Durham and close to N.C. State in Raleigh).

Franklin St. in Chapel Hill is the college kid hangout in the area. Bars, etc.

Downtown Raleigh isn't really that great, but if you happen to be down there, then Tir Na Nog is a really nice place to have a pint. And the Flying Saucer is one of those hundreds of beers to choose from places, but I haven't been there is a while and I recall that it is in kind of a no-man's land just outside of downtown.

Duke Gardens (on Duke's campus) are nice, but I am not sure how they are in the fall.

If you like outdoors stuff at all and have some time, then the Eno River state park and Umstead Park are some pretty great hikes considering that they are right in the middle of an urban area.

They are very nice on a sunny fall day. At least they were 17 years ago. You are getting close to the point in the season, however, when the leaves are more on the ground than on the trees.

A visit to the Duke Campus will give you the opportunity to see one of the holiest shrines of college basketball. The Chapel is nice, too. All are on or adjacent to Duke's West Campus.

the Angus Barn looks to be about 10,000 square feet! (passed it several times) For our big meal we opted to go to Brasa the Brazilian style restaurant and it was awesome.

Nice area (not much different than PA - except the roads were in excellent condition) and I was bummed we didn't have more time to go out but a few hours each night.
