After spending the last billion years cruising around on an old, old Celeron processor I finally decided to upgrade my PC. My existing computer was so outdated that I haven't been able to play any non-text sim game, even at absolute minimum settings, since mid-2004.

I was scouring the list of games that have been released since then and came up with these titles (in no particular order) as things I absolutely need to go back and play at some point:

The Orange Box (Half-Life 2 plus following episodes)
Portal
Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30
F.E.A.R.
Oblivion: Elder Scrolls + Expansions
Prey
Company of Heroes
BioShock
Mass Effect
Fallout 3
Doom 3
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords
Medieval II: Total War + Expansion
Civ 4
Far Cry 2

What other must play games have been released in the last 4 years?

Honestly IH, Bioshock on 360 is so amazing I dunno if I can fathom it being better on PC. If you have surround sound, play it on 360. That is all I can add to this.

World in Conflict isn't quite as good as CoH from a gameplay standpoint, but it has the best story I've seen in a RTS along with solid gameplay that's a bit different from your typical RTS.

I'd also toss The Witcher in there if you're a RPG fan.

I thought it was released for the PC. Oh well.
