Anyone ever go to an event that "promises" free stuff if you simply attend their presentation? My girlfriend wants to attend one where we have supposedly "won" 100 free rolls of film, a 35mm camera and a trip to one of 7 places(hotel only). They repeatedly said on the phone no purchase is required to recieve the items but im always skeptical.

If anyone has attended id appreciate your perspective(s).

Just make sure you or your girlfriend don't have any outstanding warrants if you go. Those fake prize scenes on COPS are always my favorite, when the cops bust out from behind a wall to arrest someone who thinks he's just won a TV. Good times.

Generally, those are high pressure sales pitches wanting you to buy time shares or something similar. The "free" hotel stay is usually another high pressure sales pitch for the same thing. The camera and film will be crap. After the 2 hour sales pitch, you'll most likely never consider doing it again.

Maybe if it was just the film...

But a trip and a camera? It's a scam.

dola-

Remember the South park episode about the time share in Aspen...that's what it'll be like.

I did this once when I was in my late 20's. They were offering $50, free trip to Florida and I think some other gift (luggage maybe?). It definitely was not worth the $50 and the crappo luggage. I didn't bother going to Florida after finding out I would need to sit through another sales pitch to stay in their hotel.

That's one of my least favorite south park episodes ever.

How can you not like it? I love how it pokes fun at those kind of movie plotlines. Be it skiing, surfing, skating, bike riding, etc. Histarical.

Ass-pin. Classic.
