i've been reading up a lot on this lately and it's become my latest sort of nonfiction interest.

Ramidus isn't exactly "new" (they talk about it in some of the books I've read). But nice to see it getting some press. IIRC (it's late and been a long day and i've had a few drinks so I might be misremembering), Ramidus has been thought of to be one of the links between when we were more ape-like and walked on 4-legs and when we moved to bipedal. It's really one of the big pieces in how we moved from more ape-like to more distinctly human.

I always associated "misremember" with Roger Clemens. Bush used it first?

Gah, now I misremember which one said it, or if both did.

anyways - ardipithicus has been known for some years based on discoveries by Tim White and others, but this new skeleton is more complete and tells us more.
