I am not going to lie, I have loved this show since it debuted back when I was in HS. I know it isn't really written for my age group but it has been one of the most consistently funny shows on TV since it debuted and I am really bummed it's coming to an end, yet I am really glad they're going out on their own terms.
Not sure I have ever seen a thread on here about it but I surely cannot be the only one watching can I?

i watch it now and then and i've found it funny, but for some reason it never made it to "appointment viewing" for me...idk why
Monk is one of a few shows that we watch start tivoing and then pick up within 15 minutes or so to avoid commercials. It's a must see for us, even on Friday nights.
I like how they're ending it, with everybody (to some extent) getting a resolution and a happy ending (esp. Disher and Captain Stottlemyre). I read somewhere they decided to end it now because it was becoming cost prohibitive.

We stopped watching this season, but the last 5 episodes or so are on the DVR. Perhaps we should watch.

I really enjoyed the first few seasons of Monk but felt that the show really jumped the shark after a while, and the plots became less and less believable - I mean did those police officers do anything, or just call Monk on any pretense? Still, it was a great show in its day.

The show has gotten pretty bad overall...probably stayed around two seasons too long. I'm looking forward to the end assuming they put a nice tidy bow on everything.

I love Monk and will be sad on Friday when I watch the last episode. Last season wasn't that great, but I have loved every episode of this season. I hope Tony Shalhoub gets another show because he is a great sitcom actor.

I've been a big fan. My only disappointment has been with the handling of the Trudy investigation during the last season. I really hoped that there would be some buildup with clues dropped and an introduction of the killer or revelation that the killer was a character we already knew. I'm inferring from part one that won't be the case, unless there is a real twist in part two.
I do like the resolution for the supporting characters. Everyone is getting a happy ending, which makes me wonder what the happy ending for Monk will be. I have a feeling it might be bittersweet.

Spoiler
So is everyone else assuming it was the judge, craig nelson's character? I'm watching the Trudy episodes leading up to it, and in the last part of the 6th season finale, Monk is talking to a prisoner and reveals that he got the name of the man who killed Trudy and that it's "The Judge".

Well done finish afaic.
Agreed.
I am glad they didn't do too much, just not that type of show. Ended very well for how the show has been done.

I thought it was a good ending. Read the USA network forum for a good time though. There are some people on there who are really fired up.

As far as final episodes go it was better than average, perhaps much better than average.
I do like that everyone got their happy ending, even Monk. His fixation on Molly was a little on the creepy side but I think that's just because she was introduced and five minutes later he's almost stalking her.
I'm also still disappointed in the resolution of the Trudy mystery. We were given all these "clues" over the years and most had nothing to do with the resolution. Other than the episode that introduce "the judge" name, every other "clue" had nothing to with it. There was also a certain "sadness" that was created knowing Trudy was fooling around with her college professor.
I think everyone figure that Trudy's Christmas present held a clue that Monk could have used to solve the crime. I am glad however that they didn't do anything too crazy, like finding Trudy alive somewhere or killing Monk.

Nice way to go out ... with the most watched scripted episode in cable history.
Media Life Magazine - USA's 'Monk' finale sets cable record (http://www.medialifemagazine.com/artman2/publish/Cable_20/USA_s_Monk_finale_sets_cable_record.asp)
It seems fitting that "Monk," the USA comedy about a quirky detective that helped bring cable shows into the mainstream, became the most-watched scripted show in basic cable history Friday.
The show's series finale drew 9.4 million total viewers in the 9 p.m. timeslot, demolishing both the broadcast and cable competition and outdrawing the previous cable record holder, TNT's "The Closer," by 200,000 viewers.
"Monk" averaged 2.4 million more viewers than CBS's "Medium," the No. 1 broadcast show in the timeslot. It also averaged 3.2 million adults 18-49, and obviously set series records on both marks.
In fact, "Monk" delivered roughly one-third more viewers than its previous series high. ...It was the second half of a two-parter. Part one averaged 5.8 million viewers the previous week.
