I don't know if any of you have tried using some of the websites where you can buy gift cards for charitable donations, I have used the one called TisBest a couple of years ago and it worked out really well. Basically you buy a gift card from them for an amount you specify, and then the person you give it to has a choice of around 250 charities to donate the money to. I have found that it is a gift that people really appreciate, they love having the choice to make their own decision, and of course charitable giving is a nice counterpoint to all the Christmas consumerism. I used a small gift as a stocking stuffer in addition to my normal gift, but you could use them however you want.

Just something to consider when you're getting your gifts. As a bonus, they are offering free $1 gift cards to send to people now!
