I noticed, and it was probably always there, but at the beginning of a new career the coaching talent out there is not quite as good as when you have been in a career for a longer length of time. You can eventually get to the point where you can hire a coach with excellent in every category where at the beginning of a career there is no one rated that high.

Which way is ideal and more like reality?

Anecdotal, so grain of salt required, it seems younger coaches (late 30's, early 40's) can make good progress in a couple of seasons time.

I'm probably one of few, but I always check my staff (including scout) for skill changes. Based on that, need and contract length, I decide whether to look out for a new staff member.
