I know we have several New Star loyalists. Anyone tried their latest offering?

No but i also received the email with the discount code and made me curious, as it's the kind of game i always thought about developing myself (but as text sim instead of joystick game).

I think tennis is a nice sport for an RPG game like that, where you start as a kid and need to train, learn and play to become a top star.

I have too much work and too much new games now to think about buying a new one, but it's in my radar.

I got the email too and deleted it without thinking. I might have to bring it back. NSS1 and NSS3 were fun games to play for a few minutes at a time without having to get too involved, so this could be worthwhile for me.

Got the email and downloaded it to try it out on the day it was released. Controls are way too funky and I couldn't hit a frigging ball using the keyboard. My oldish MS gamepad didn't help me much and I stopped trying after mayb 10 minutes. A shame as I thought the concept looked fun...

I had the opposite problem. If I managed to hit the ball back to the computer player, he whiffed it every time. Every serve was an ace. Silly. If someone has some success with this game, let me know.

well, that was pretty much my problem too. Whenever I was able to hit a ball, which was not very often, I couldn't aim it anywhere and it was returned perfectly by my opponent.

In training, I was unable to complete the forehand training three times in a row so I didn't improve my guy at all. Was a bit frustrating...

Maybe it wasn't the computer you were playing, and it was a multiplayer game with dxtrfn1980

Tennis Elbow Manager sounds like that, the demo is long enough to give you an idea if it fits the bill or not.

I think i have been in that website in the past, they had elbow tennis i think a few years ago, outdated graphics but really fun to play. This seems to be a new version, i'll give it a try one day, thanks for he link!

I did go ahead and try out New Star Tennis. I think the latest versions have worked out some of the bugs you all noticed. It his however a video game rather than a text sim.

That said, it's not a bad little game for $9. It can be a bit tedious at first to go through the training exercises to increase your skills, and you'll probably lose 6-0 for the first several months of play. It gets better as you improve and can win a few matches.

I'm a couple of seasons in and have gotten my guy up to #11 in the rankings.

It also has a few of the standard New Star mini-games. Casino, darts, horse racing and go karting.
