What are the odds that Xavier and Cornell can pull these out?

I want K-State to lose and lose badly. Their coach looks like a serious a-hole...

All the credit in the world to WVU. They forced us to play a game that was outside out comfort zone. IT was ugly but a win is a win

Agreed. Now I'm hoping Washington can somehow land Terrence Jones to slide into Pondexter's spot. If the rest of the team shows much improvement at all they could be very dangerous next year.

I don't like Xavier's chances here. The officials are in hyper let em play mode. That fits perfectly into how KState wants to play. My favorite play during the 15 point run was the "block" KState had in the interior. The replay showed the first Wildcat defender jump into the guys chest and the second raking his arms. . . somehow both fouls were missed and the ball was out to KState. (That part of the call was right, because the ball did go off the Xavier player after both arms were mowed down)

I'd be interested to see KState play when the refs are calling a game tighter. As I type that I don't like their chances, Xavier goes on an 11-2 run to get back into the game.

I wonder if Washington expected Ebanks to guard Thomas? I was pretty surprised that they decided to go that route -- I thought he would match up with Pondexter. I'll be interested to hear the post game comments on it.

The Cornell/Kentucky game is fun to watch. It looks like they have a ton of fans there and I suspect all the WVU and Washington fans are pulling for them, too.

I don't know if anybody remembers, but I called that on FOFC. Ebanks is a great perimeter defender. A lot of WVU fans have been questioning how he thinks he can go pro. I say cause there aren't too many 6'9" guys that can guard elite perimeter scorers and rebound the way he does. His offense is a work in progress, but he is a pretty good ball-handler for his size as well.

The officials really tightened it up in the KState/Xavier game. I'm happy they di because I want to see a good basketball game, but I think the KState contingent has a right to be upset. They changed the way the game was called in the middle of it.

I definitely remember -- good call! Ebanks on Wall, should they advance, could be interesting for his draft/leaving early prospects.

BTW -- Sweet Jesus! I just looked at the box score and realized that Ebanks had 8 turnovers w/ 6 assists. What an odd player.

Good win tonight. People who hadn't watched WVU play prior to the tournament are probably a little underwhelmed, but WVU has consistently won playing this style of basketball.

Casey Mitchell is finally starting to get things. It's too late in the season to change his role much, but next year I really think he'll become the player he was expected to be when he arrived in Morgantown.

I love Joe Mazzulla and I expect him to end up on Hugg's staff at some point down the road.

I cringe every time Cam touches the ball. Love the guy to death and he's great for hustle plays, defense, and fouls but I want him as far away from the ball as possible.

People who only watch college basketball generally have a hard time understanding that NBA teams draft on potential in most cases. I've said it before, but Ebanks reminds me of Ron Artest. Artest had more offensive responsibility at St. John's than Ebanks does now, but their games are very similar at the same stage.

Terrible looking video, but it's the best I could find.

I'm willing to bet 90% of WVU fans saw what happens here coming as soon as he touched the ball. The funniest part of the whole thing was watching Kevin Jones and the other players on the bench try to hide their laughing as Huggs was screaming.

As I was talking to a friend last night after I bought the tickets, I realized this is the first time I have ever seen UT in person in any sport.

I'm stoked.

Kansas State - Xavier game, whoa was that awesome :)

Looking forward to tonight allready though, out of the 16 teams left before yesterday the 3 that interest me most play tonight with Saint Mary´s, Norther Iowa and Ohio State.

It will be interestin if Baylor plays a lot of zone or adjust, cause on paper Saint Mary´s seem pretty well prepared to answer that. Even Samhan does a good job getting into open space in between defenders and then you have Allen who´s really good at making plays from the high post/foul line area and of course there are those great shooters in the backcourt.

Samhan seems like a great, great kid btw from what has been floating around the web theese last few days, very fun and relaxed demeanor off the court.

Hope they can keep this "aw chucks, let´s just play our thing" attitude up when Baylor takes it´s first blow at them and with the atmosphere in Houston.

I´m reluctant to declare Norther Iowa the favourite, but definetily kind of expect another win with Lucas out ...

Ohio State football and majors | Cleveland Sports Archive Site - cleveland.com (http://blog.cleveland.com/sports/2007/08/ohio_state_football_and_majors.html)

There are 59 players who get their own page in the OSU media guide. Of those players, 21 are listed as undecided, with seven of them entering their junior academic years and 14 of them entering their sophomore academic years.
That leaves 38 with declared majors. Here's that breakdown:

7 Family Resource Management
7 Communications
5 Business Administration
4 Business
3 Sport and Leisure Studies
3 Consumer Affairs
2 Finance
2 Human Development and Family Science
1 each African-American Studies; Social and Behavorial Sciences; History; Political Science; Health Science

Both Duke and Purdue have NBA talent. No question all four teams play well. Why wouldn't I want to see the game between the two teams with the most talented players? It's no matter to me because I can watch both but during no other time in the year would somebody want to watch a top 20 team play against a mid-major when two top 10 teams are playing. It's because of the tournament that the game is interesting. So I say fine but I would be more entertained by the quality of the two top 10 team game and that doesn't make me sanctimonious at all. Yes I am absolutely certain. Otherwise the national CBS wouldn't be showing the Duke/Purdue game to like 90% of the country. Obviously they get better ratings from Duke/Purdue. So the local CBS genius has decided that people's interest here in St. Louis is somehow higher than the rest of Missouri and bordering Illinios just because the game is being played in town. I completely agree that more people would watch Duke/Purdue in the regular season.

By population but not by territory, at least not according to this map (http://www.hdsportsguide.com/news/2010/friday-sweet-16-coverage-map-930-pm/) About half the Big 10 areas got UNI-MSU, as Missouri, Kansas & Nebraska. Matter of fact Illinois is the only state that borders Iowa not slated to get that game.

So the local CBS genius has decided that people's interest here in St. Louis is somehow higher than the rest of Missouri and bordering Illinios just because the game is being played in town. Wow, would love for JIMGa to explain how this could possibly be true.

Although I think proximity to Iowa probably dictated the coverage in Missouri more than anything else, there is a pretty consistent pattern in every sport I can think of for events taking place in an area drawing better ratings than they do nationally no matter who is playing. You see it with minor bowl games, you see it with the NCAA tournament, you see it with NASCAR (in some markets, not all), you see it with golf most weeks, hmm I don't think I can say I've ever checked tennis.

(hey there's where I sat once for a Ram's game that makes this game so much more interesting)

Silly as it sounds there does seem to be some of that happening on a regular basis, although I'd say it might be a function of increased hype for an event in a host market more than anything else. And in this case I don't know that it was the major factor in determining who got what game.

Incidentally, both my wife & mother-in-law are upset with the Duke game being shown in Atlanta since they wanted to get a better feel for UNI-MSU in preparation for Sunday's Elite 8 game.

Btw- do you know when tip-off will be? I have an impossible-to-avoid conflict in all likelihood :(. (DVR to the rescue!)

I will put money that Dejuan Johnson and E'Twan Moore play in the NBA. Wish to take that bet? Would that not be "NBA" talent? (Meaning they havbe more talent than most student athletes. They can actually make a career out of basketball.)

DraftExpress.com currently has Johnson as the 2.6 pick in the 2011 draft, Hummel as 2.30 in 2011, and Moore (and Kramer) not making the cut.

It pretty much conflicts for me anyways. If it's like a 7:00 tip I'd miss the first 10ish minutes, but I think they generally have earlier games on Sunday. And yeah.. unavailable from like 1:00 until 7:15ish or later.

Looks like it'll be a bad night for the Big Ten.

The one time, as an IU fan, I decide to back Purdue and they look horrible. I realize it's a one point game, but Duke played about as bad as you can. Can't expect that for another 20 minutes.

MSU was doomed without Lucas. Shocked to come home and see the OSU score.

Both Duke and Purdue have NBA talent.
Who is the NBA talent in that game?

Make the bet if you don't think they will both play on an NBA team at some point. (I didn't say first round draft pick or NBA starter. I just said they still had enough skills in play in the NBA versus the Northern Iowa team who doesn't. That would equate to a little more talent, yes?)

True basketball fans probably don't sit on a fucking message board arguing with each other right in the middle of the games.

Speaking of being sensitive...

I believe RM was making a little bit of a joke based on the quality of play in the 1st half of the Duke/Purdue game.

Not sure where I implyed that I was a true basketball fan. I watch the non-Mizzou games because I gamble on them. (Hence I buy the sports package) I enjoy the buzzer beaters that don't effect my bets and watching good games but I am not the true fan I was referring to. I can be on a couple of message boards, watching the game, and playing online poker so I wouldn't say my main focus is on the game. So touche to your message board comment I guess.

Dude, you did kinda say:

Local CBS is showing the Northern Iowa/Michigan State game with no ties whatsoever to either school (St. Louis has some big ten ties but Purdue would nulify that one) just because it is being played in St. Louis. Luckily I have the tv package and can watch the other game. I know there are a lot of fans of Cinderella's that will somehow be more interested in Northern Iowa but here are two teams that were ranked #3 and #5 just two weeks ago. Unbeleievable that the rest of my area doesn't get to see this game. There have to be more true basketball fans than feel good story followers.

And then proceeded to talk about how much better the Duke/Purdue game is. I think the implication is kindof there, right?

Again. Not sure why you are looking for an arguement from me. I must come across as abrasive which isn't my intention. I guess I must have been wrong about my St. Louis thing, JIMGa works in the field and would know more than I do. No big deal.

I was feeling bad for the local St. Louisians for having to watch Michigan State and Northern Iowa of which I have absoluetely no interest (outside of MSU -4.5 :) ) I would think the fans would want Duke vs. Purdue but I guess I am wrong. (Again, I have the directv package. So I can watch either game.)

Hrm.. you don't see how you've been abrasive?

You took multiple shots at me, and then didn't address it when asked to justify them.

Then you repeatedly implored someone to "make a bet with you" the last time when someone was making what was an obvious joke?

Idano - maybe it's me, but based on others posting I think it's pretty clear that you are being abrasive - even if I'm overreacting to the abrasiveness.

I've loaded up MMOD because my local CBS stuck me with Duke/Purdue.

You live in Virginia, I assume you get ACC games above everything but local small shools in the tournament, no?

edit: I know for example, I would get say, Florida State before I would get South Carolina where I live. But I would probably get ECU over FSU.

Of course, it's completely logical WHY I'm getting it, I wasn't the one trying to argue I should have a different game than I do ;).

Honestly - I was trying to make a bit of a joke.

Now, I would say that at this point they should be switching to UNI/Mich St.
