Looking for what the community feels about the in-game financials. From participating here and there in a few leagues as well as looking over others it seems that there is very little, if any, fiscal responsibility by team owners. Leagues appear to have teams consistently bleeding financially without much consideration. So I ask, what impact do the financials actually have on the game and for those long term FOF fanatics how do you percieve and/or use the game finances?

Im a relative noob to the game so I cant answer anything in depth, but here is my experience. I am simming out a career historical league starting in 1970 (in 1985 now) as GM of the Giants, and even though Im always near the top in cap room, every season I seem to lose anywhere from 2-10 million dollars, though looking at the other teams, losing only that much seems to be really good.

Im more a baseball guy, especially financially, so it could be something Im doing wrong. I suspect its my ticket prices, which I seem to be keeping near the lowest end of the league prices. I havent raised them yet because I am only selling out around 35,000 season tickets out of 70,000.

Anyway, since Im playing where the GM cant be fired, it hasnt seemed to matter any. I suspect that if I had the GM can be fired option on, Id have been fired from 15 teams by now

Only things I can come up with are the ammount of money you can spend on:
* salary of staff members (scout, head coach, coordinators)
* maximum bonus money available for each player

Over time the condition of the stadium turf will go from good to bad to poor which will increase the likelyhood of team injuries. Have to have the means/cash to renovate at some point.

best way to be in the black is to jack up suite prices. I charge 400K for mine and went from making 107 mil to 260 mil in suite revenue... overall I went from making 16 mil profit to 162 mil in profit.

I think this was covered before, but I'm too lazy to search it out. IMHO, the finances are really broken, whether you're playing a historical league or starting with the default rosters, etc. That being said, the finances and the talent distribution with the historical league are generally worse.

Bottom line is that you should renovate or build a new stadium with maxed out seating for everything, especially suites. As Higgs44 said, jack up your prices for suites.

Put a good product on the field to increase attendance. Playing in the playoffs will increase your bottom line greatly.

Player Bonuses really have a huge effect on your costs from year to year.
