Wow.... what kind of numbers did the first team All-American QB have to beat out the Golden Arm?
http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/1885/nfldraft.png
The UCLA teammates heard their names early as Rob Nielsen went #10 to the Kansas City Chiefs and David Gonzalez went #24 to the New England Patriots. Nick Thomas was the first pick of the second round as he went to the Detroit Lions. In the 4th Pitt corner Chas Swaggs was picked by the Seattle Seahawks.
Three players did not hear their name called. Moe Farley, Dean Hoo, and Max Power all went undrafted. Shortly after the draft the San Francisco 49ers called and offered Farley a one-year contract.
Contracts
Rob Nielsen signed a 5 year deal worth $18,460,000.
David Gonzalez signed a 4 year deal worth $11,480,000.
Nick Thomas signed a 3 year deal worth $4,780,000.
Chas Swaggs signed a 3 year deal worth $2,080,000.
Moe Farley signed a 1 year deal worth $270,000.
http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/1018/transactions.png
Released after week 3 last season, Jace Hunter has finally found a new team. Hunter signed a one-year deal with the San Diego Chargers worth $350,000.<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" height="20" width="111"><tr height="14"><td class="xl63" style="height: 10.5pt; width: 83pt;" height="14" width="111">

Jacksonville Jaguars - Running Back
A very interesting situation brewing in Jacksonville. Two years after making Brian Butts the #1 pick in the NFL, Jacksonville picked up another running back in the first round and it looks like he will be placing Butts as the Jaguars starter.
http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/2861/brownz.png
Philadelphia Eagles - Running Back
Brown will be the backup for the Eagles again this year. He was able to get plenty of carries as the backup last season.
http://img814.imageshack.us/img814/8519/jestor.png
Buffalo Bills - Running Back
Jestor will again be the Bills third string running back.
http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/8072/harp.png
New Orleans Saints - Outside Linebacker
Harp will be starting at outside linebacker for the Saints. He lost his job early last season and hopes to keep it this year.
http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/7797/huntert.png
San Diego Chargers - Quarterback
Jace only lasted 3 games with Green Bay last season and spent the rest of the season at home. San Diego picked him up this offseason and he will be their 3rd quarterback.
http://img830.imageshack.us/img830/9260/playerz.png
Kansas City Chiefs - Quarterback
Not exactly sure what is going on over in Kansas City. Nielsen is the best quarterback on the Chiefs roster but is currently inactive. We'll see if that changes quickly.
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/9770/playerso.png
Seattle Seahawks- Cornerback
Swaggs will be the Seahawks fourth corner and will be fighting for playing time.
http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/7389/farley.png
San Francisco 49ers - Quarterback
Farley is on the 49ers inactive list.

http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/235/ingrams.png
Stanford Cardinal - QB - RS Senior
Ingram should be the star quarterback in the Pac-10 and one of the top QB's in the country.
http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/7493/prescott.png
Notre Dame Fighting Irish - QB - RS Senior
Prescott lost his starting job last season after the game one but has earned his job back.
http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/2540/russvv.png
Texas A&M Aggies - DE - RS Senior
Russ dominated last season with 23.5 sacks. He is the best player in the entire country.
http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/4549/foley.png
Texas A&M Aggies - WR - RS Senior
Foley will be the Aggies #1 receiver.
http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/4923/opeake.png
Maryland Terrapins - ILB - RS Senior
O'Peake had a bit of a down year last season, a year after being the NCAA's Defensive MVP. But that was to be expected as it was hard to live up to those numbers. O'Peake will be a force this season.
http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/9746/wahoo.png
Miami Hurricanes - RB - RS Senior
Wahoo's yards per carry dropped quite a bit last season. He's hoping to rebound this season.
http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/8249/whitemx.png
Michigan Wolverines - QB - RS Senior
White quietly had a great season last year. If he puts up those kind of numbers again he should be able to get in the Heisman running.
http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/1464/ritschel.png
Notre Dame Fighting Irish - CB - RS Senior
It's time for Ritschel to finally step up and put up some numbers this year. He has not picked off a pass since his freshmen year.
http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/8902/palmer.png
Alabama Crimson Tide - DE - RS Junior
Palmer was solid last season for the Tide but didn't put up big sack numbers. He's looking to improve on that this year.
http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/1222/otts.png
Tulane Green Wave - DE - RS Junior
Before going down with an injury Ott was putting up numbers on pace with Dave Russ. He's healthy now and should be a star.
http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/1461/tovar.png
Ohio State Buckeyes - OLB - RS Junior
Tovar was extremely solid last season and was named NCAA All-League Second Team. He should be tough for the Buckeyes again.
http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/6564/ertmann.png
Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles - QB - Senior
Ertmann finally gets his shot to start this year.
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/6970/kastos.png

Kastos had a good season and was named to the All-Big Ten team last season.
http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/4554/hughesh.png

Hughes is the second safety in an extremely talented safety group for the Hawkeyes.
http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/5958/chag.png
Temple Owls - S - RS Junior
Chagulia is the Owls #1 safety this season. Hopefully the Owls will improve.
http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/5243/mighty.png
Texas A&M Aggies - CB - RS Junior
Mighty had a bit of a down year last season. Look for him to rebound.
http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/5426/schap.png
Iowa Hawkeyes - QB - RS Junior
Schaplowsky and the Hawkeyes struggled again last season. With a lot of starters returning hopefully things will turn around.
http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/5687/phillips.png
Florida Gators - RB - RS Junior
Phillips was strong for the Gators last season who didn't make a bowl game despite making it to the SEC title game. Phillips will be one of the nations top backs.
http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/2778/silvers.png
Rice Owls - WR - RS Sophomore
Silvers is the Owls #2 receiver and is looking to put up good numbers.
http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/7237/morganp.png
USC Trojans - WR - RS Sophomore
Morgan is the Trojans #2 receiver.
http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/4753/idol.png
USC Trojans - S - RS Sophomore
Idol had a very solid freshmen year and looks to improve on that.
http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/9703/mcgi.png
Michigan Wolverines - RB - Junior
After a terrific freshmen season, McGillicuddy's production dropped quite a bit. He was injured for a few games and never seems to replicate the past year's success. Look for him to bounce back.
http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/8670/mooreh.png
Kentucky Wildcats - TE - RS Sophomore
Moore didn't get a catch last season and moves up to the 3rd tight end spot for the Wildcats.
http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/8176/harpj.png
Michigan Wolverines - RB - RS Freshmen
Harp will be the Wolverines 3rd back.
http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/3517/thomasa.png
Arizona State Sun Devils - QB - Sophomore
Interesting news at Arizona State. He played great after having his redshirt and led the Sun Devils to an Orange Bowl win. But, Arizona State has decided to redshirt Thomas again.
http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/8388/dahoo.png
Notre Dame Fighting Irish - QB - RS Freshmen
Da Hoo gained redshirt status last season after not seeing the field at all. He'll be Notre Dame's 2nd quarterback and backup Deion Prescott.
http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/7351/mcdowell.png
Nebraska Cornhuskers - WR - RS Freshmen
McDowell will be Nebraska's 2nd receiver.

And he's the most talented QB on their roster. Odd for them to redshirt him. Same thing happened to Maury Ott a couple seasons ago as well.

Too bad their are no FOFCers to extend our UCLA legacy.
Bah, I kind of like us going out on top and leaving an impossible set of records and success in our wake.
I do not, however, like the fact that KC is dicking me around. Though I do like that fat paycheck they gave me.
http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/18/2016nflweek1.png
Not much production this week from FOFCers. Rob Nielsen was given the start in his first game but struggled. Brian Butts only received 2 carries.
http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/5665/2016ncaaweek1.png
Deion Prescott is finally the start at Notre Dame for his senior year and started well in a 45-15 win. Prescott was 15-18 for 159 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Ches O'Peake gets his senior year started out right with 8 tackles in a good 21-17 win over North Texas.
Dave Russ wasted no time getting this season started by picking up 2.5 sacks. Andrew Foley caught 3 passes for 82 yards and a touchdown.
Great start for Michigan and their star quarterback and running back. Barry White was 13-18 for 229 yards and 3 touchdowns in the 51-0 win over Rutgers. Larry McGillicuddy carried the ball 26 times for 191 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Dan Ertmann finally got his chance and played very well in a 41-13 win over Oklahoma State. Ertmann was 16-24 for 280 yards and a 3 touchdowns.
Kuji Chagulia picked off two passes in a 17-13 win over Duke.

Brian Butts, trying to show coaches they made a mistake by putting him second on the depth chart, rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.
Rob Nielsen struggled again and David Gonzalez caught his first two passes.
http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/864/2016ncaaweek2.png
Craig Ingram had a big game despite being inaccurate, 20-44 he threw for 403 yards and 5 touchdowns in a 52-49 win.
Deion Prescott and Notre Dame took care of UCLA, 30-3. Prescott was 15-21 for 254 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Good game for Wahoo McDaniel, 29 carries for 141 yards in a 35-21 win.
Michigan had their second straight blowout behind the great play of Barry White and Larry McGillicuddy. White was 17-23 for 257 yards and 3 touchdowns while McGillicuddy was even better, 28 carries for 226 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Iowa picked up win #2 behind Mike Schaplowsky. He went 20-39 for 242 yards and a touchdown.
7 catches for 95 yards for Dex Morgan as USC moves to 2-0.

Good news for Dean Hoo. The 49ers starting kicker went down with an injury so the Niners picked up Hoo on a one-year, $270,000 contract.
Izulde Jestor picked up his first carries of the year, 7 for 40 yards.
http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/3608/2016ncaaweek4.png
I usually talk about players in order of how they're listed on the spreadsheet but today I felt like Larry McGillicuddy deserved top billing for his performance today and so far this season. Michigan is on an absolute tear to start the year with wins by 51, 34 and now 46 by destroying Notre Dame 56-10. McGillicuddy carried the ball 23 times for 203 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also caught 2 passes for 15 yards and a touchdown. Through three games McGillicuddy has rushed for 620 yards and 8 touchdowns. His terrific play has almost made people overlook the amazing play from Barry White. White was 11-14 for 251 yards and 2 touchdowns today and has been extremely efficient so far this year, completing 75% of his passes for 737 yards and 8 touchdowns.
Craig Ingram was efficient again, 12-19 for 292 yards and 2 touchdowns in 31-26 win for Stanford.
Dave Russ picked up another 1.5 sacks as Texas A&M took care of Rice, 44-14. Andrew Foley caught 3 passes for 62 yards and a touchdown. While Al Mighty might not be putting up eye-popping numbers he didn't allow a single completed pass all day.
Wahoo McDaniel ran well in a 30-20 win over Washington. McDaniel carried the ball 24 times for 116 yards.
Kuji Chagulia picked off his 4th pass in 4 games but Temple loses 21-14 to Ball State.

redhawk, you keep the defense motivated and I'll keep doing my thing on offense, and we'll keep that winning streak going. I don't know about you, but I want at least 9 wins this season and a good bowl game. :)

Bummer. I would've wanted your arm here. A local kid too.
Along the same note, welcome to the dark side, Zinto.

Apparently Breaux was just waiting on offers close to home. He'll probably end up at A&M, because apparently my players are all destined to end up at LSU's rivals

Yeah I am pretty happy with the USC commitment. Hopefully I can help the team your senior year.

The Nielsen Clan will also point out how A&M is doing now that they have Marcus on board. Even if he is redshirting, a team that has a Nielsen on it will dominate.
I'm hoping I'll be able to get an update or two in tonight.

It could be just me, but I'm seeing the NFL chart where the NCAA chart should be for week 8.

Nice to see that getting our doors blown off by Air Force jumped them from 17 to 8 in the polls. I guess Colorado St is considered a pretty good win right now.

Wow a sudden commitment from Quintin. Tennessee it is, it seems, home town boy. Big move for the #1 WR to stay home like that. Looks like I'll see Ricky Tovar there too. Let's do this!

A quick look around the FOFC world this season.
Michigan is on an absolute tear this season as they won this week, 76-17 over Minnesota to move to 8-0. Barry White and Larry McGillicuddy are having amazing seasons and may very well be the top two Heisman candidates.
All the talk in the preseason was that Dave Russ was the best defensive lineman in the country. And while Russ is having a great season, 10.5 sacks in 8 games as Texas A&M is 8-0, Deacon Palmer has been just as good. Palmer has 12.5 sacks in 7 games for the 6-1 Crimson Tide.
Craig Ingram, Deion Prescott, and Dan Ertmann are all having great senior seasons leading their teams in 2016. None are putting up the big eye popping number like Barry White has been but all three have been extremely efficient.
Wahoo McDaniel has been averaging over 100 yards a gamer for 6-1 Hurricanes and just put together a 30 carry, 202 yard, 3 touchdown game.

17 tackles, 5 for a loss, a sack...and we lose? To Virginia?!!! Not possible!

Why is it that the better I play, the more we lose?
I have to head to New York for work until Friday so after I get an update in tonight I won't be able to get anything up again until next Saturday.

"I'm happy to be heading to Tennessee. There were a lot of offers out there, from all over the country, and I thank all of those great schools. But in the end I couldn't pass up playing for my home state team. It's a great program, and while we're not at the top of the charts right now, I hope I can help them get there."
