Buying a Forward

Ok, so it seems like a Solid scorer is going to run me $200,000, which I don't happen to have at the moment. Instead I opted for this guy...and paid $109,000...I think I might have overpaid, what do you think?

I don't think you necessarily overpaid. Strikers are typically expensive. I haven't been in the market for one in a while, but two seasons ago I purchased Johannes Henriksson for $84,000. At the time he was 24 years old, with only inadequate passing, but with solid set pieces.

As far as training him as a midfielder goes, just be warned that, at 25 years old, he will train rather slowly. It would take him approximately 8 weeks longer to raise in playmaking than a 17 year old trainee would. But if you don't have any other prospects for that training spot, then why not?

Giel looks like a pretty good pick up to me, but strikers aren't my forte, so take what I say with a grain of salt (something you should always do, anyways. ;) ).

FTR, I have a guy with almost identical stats to Kimball (2 years younger, though) on the market at 50k, and after almost 48 hours he's untouched.

Mark Loomis will go for at least 250k probally alot more.
i sold a 25 year old solid scorer/passable passing for 254k.

Francis Kimball im not sure about. He's a very good offensive winger. his playmaking blows but he will rack up alot of goals i bet.

he's a very good forward as well. Keep one of them and sell the other :)


RPI fan... you did pay a little to much for that guy. you could grab a passable/passable for ALOT less. i got one for 14,500.

i dont think you overpaid for him. He'll get ya 2 1/2 stars a game and he's got the Head skill which will get ya an extra 2 - 5 goals a year alone.

Sweet...thanks for the encouragement guys :) Kind of bought him on a whim (saw him ending soon at only $107,000 or something, put in my bid with 8 minutes left and got him.

RPI-Fan: I'd say that your guy probably would have been a good buy at anywhere from $150,00-$175,000...that Poor Passing rating on top of Inadequate Stamina (I know forwards don't need it as much, but I still like to go with at least passable stamina) just makes me not like him so much

McSweeney: I'm with Havok, Loomis will sell for a ton. Solid/Solid Passing/Scoring is huge, and though he's 29, you'll get at least $200,000 for him, guaranteed. As for Kimball, I think the poor form would hurt his sale value...I think you'd probably get upwards of $75,000 for him though.

now the question is do i sell my two best players and get out of debt or keep them and keep hoping for a nice youth pull(passable youth team)... I figure i'm one of the best 3 teams in my series so i could have a legit shot at winning the whole thing if i hang onto those 2 guys. Though I am in $200,000+ of debt...

I'll probably hang onto them for a few more weeks at least and see what happens in the league

have you upgraded your stadium yet??? cause if your 200k in debt and still have a 7,000 seat stadium i'd sell Loomis and upgrade to around 14,000-15,000 seats. But if you have already upgraded, then its your call.

Well, RPI-Fan, he has his benefits certainly in that he's a solid at only 22. His big downfall is that he has crappy passing and I value that almost as much as scoring for a forward. That said, he's a solid scorer so $150K would be a bargain, especially considering his age. That said, he might be worth $200K, it's just that we're all looking for bargains- paying full price is for suckers ;)

You actually got a very good deal on that striker. Anytime that you pay less than value, you've won. He should have probably gone for right around 150k.

The striker that you bought, I would estimate would have been worth about 150k also. He is only 22, so there is a chance, if you train scoring that he can move to excellent. Then if you sell him, you can recoup your losses.

Loomis is an awesome player at your level. To be honest, I would keep him. He is 29 and you won't get 254k for him. Havok got 254k for his guy because he still has 3 years before downgrading starts to happen. Loomis already has started to deteriorate. If you train scoring, sell him now. If not keep him. He is far more valuable to your team on the field than the cash he will bring in. I'd guess around 150k (everything's 150k today, heheh). But there may be a noob or two that will jump on him.

I agree with Havok regarding Kendall, you will probably get 70-75k for him. Yet this is one that I probably would sell. It also depends on what you have sitting on the bench behind him.


I train scoring so I regularly value my players on the swedish market, trying to figure out how much I could get for them. Depending on when you sell them, you can get more or less as well. Right now is a bad selling time, but a good buying time. If you want to get top dollar for a player, sell them at the very end or the very beginning of the season.
