I've given up trying to guess how players value on the transfer market.

To refresh your memory, this week my youth pull wasn't half bad of a player.

Sid Roach (11285837)
17 years, passable form, healthy

A sympathetic guy who is temperamental and upright.
Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities.

Speciality: Technical

Nationality: USA
Assessed value: 32 000 US$
Wage: 640 US$/week
Owner: Scranton Slime
Warnings: 0

Stamina: inadequate Goaltending: disastrous
Playmaking: passable Passing: poor
Winger: weak Defending: poor
Scoring: weak Set Pieces: poor

Once again, not a bad youth player, but nothing to get too excited about. I debate for a while, put end up putting him on the transfer list starting at $20K. Well, guess what greets me when I check my team this morning?

There was a full-on bidding war in the last hour and a half, and the price skyrocketed. Tell me, have I just missed something about the value of this player, or are some people just crazy?

He is 17, has inadequate as stamina (besides his passable playmaking) but 170K is a lot.

I have a 19, passable playmaking (the rest of his stats are poor) current bid is 15K... Seems to me you got lucky.

The key is the following words...he is 17. I train playmaking so I'm always watching for 17-yo passables and ~200K is a fairly average price. Frankly, I think that's overpaying a bit, but 17-yo's always go for a bit of a premium.

17-yo solids usually go for several hundred K, and 17-yo excellents routinly go for 1.5 - 3 M. It's all about trainability.

You get a 17 year old, their market value just goes through the roof. It's insane.
