A Beginner's Tutorial?

Hi All,

I just subscribed to the forum because I have a few questions before actually purchasing the game.
I played a couple of time the trial (until it expired) but I was completely lost in what to do, where to actually press, how to simulate the season properly, where to look at, etc. ?
I know this game has no great graphics and I really don't care.
I like numbers, I like planning the next step, solving the recurring problem.

Would anyone be kind enough to help me with a quick beginner's tutorial or explain me the steps I should follow for the first few seasons in order to get more familiar with the game and slowly embrace all the depth it has to offer ?

Ignore game plans and depth charts.

Focus on building a strong team through the draft, free agents and - if you wish - trading with other teams. Likewise, let the computer take care of coach hiring and ticket pricing (use the recommended levels).

Once you have a team that consistently goes 10 wins or more, then you can delve into the other areas one at a time.

have fun. This is a truly great game.

If you haven't yet invest some time in going through the in-game help file. It contains volumes of information on the game, it's various stages and provides some detail on the flow of the stages and what is required for each.

Actually I need to review it again to make sure my advice to you is right! :)

I was wondering as well if it was worth waiting for the Steam release (as I'd prefer buy using my Steam Wallet).
Do you have any clue if it would change anything and if it will take time before being on sale on Steam ?

The path to being on Steam could take a while, depending on how much work Jim needs to put into it.

On January 9, 2015, Valve gave us the Greenlight to put Front Office Football Seven on Steam. We are currently learning the Steam Software Development Kit, and are figuring out how the game will be re-released on this platform. We plan to work out an option for existing customers to trade a ViaTech FOF7 order ID for a Steam product ID. No idea on the details or timeline yet, but this is at the top of our priority list in the new year.


My suggestion is to just buy it now and get your Steam key later. I'm not sure if Jim is planning on putting the game on sale very often because he's more interested in people playing than people buying. Meaning, I wouldn't expect it be $5 in a few months.

Thanks Garion, I'll buy the game today or tomorrow.

One more thing. I have seen the sticky post which regroups links about different utilities for the game.
I have tried to understand what does what and how to install them but I am kind of confused.

What I am looking to do when I get the game are two things :
- Update to real players names, team names and logos.
- Use a graphic skin if available.

Would you kindly re-explain in here what I should download and the steps to follow to get the game running with it.
