View Full Version : Scouting Bar Question

This post was started in one of my leagues where the draft class was just revealed, but the base question applies to any league.

Here's something I've been thinking about that I thought I had the answer, but after looking at the draft class, I have questions. Come on game guru's...time to step up here.

As I look at the draftees. I notice the blue bars for each skill. I know the size of that bar is based on how good your scouts are. The better the scout, the narrower the bar.

My scouting bars and primary focus are as follows:
HC: 28 (LB)
OC: 65 (TE)
DC: 75 (DB)
AC: 68 (DL)

So now. Looking at my scouts, I would say not bad. Except for HC. It's my understanding that the OC and DC play the biggest roll in scouting players at those positions, with help from the HC. The AC scouts special teams. So, for players in the draft, I don't concern myself with the AC until late rounds when looking for ST players.

As I look at the draft class, I see offensive players with a bar range of about 45 and defensive players with a range of about 25. Now my OC and DC aren't that far off in scouting to warrant that big of a difference, IMO. So this tells me that the HC maybe plays more of a factor on the offense than the defense. OR, because my HC's primary focus is a defensive position, it gives a little more boost to the defensive players.

Does anyone have thoughts, answers or opinions on what all this means? Am I close. Way off or somewhere in between.

Interviewing

Interviewing

I haven't done any yet. It's my understanding that the bars turn orange after an interview and get narrower based on how good the interview bar of the scouts are. (primarily the HC)

Are you saying that the interview bar plays into PREinterview bars on draftees?

Are you saying that the interview bar plays into PREinterview bars on draftees?I'm going off the top of my head here, but I think that's correct. (It's either Interview or Young Talent, but I think it's Interview.)

I guess that would make some sense. My OC is horrible at interviewing (10) and my DC is pretty good (70). HC is 50.

Thanks

but I think it's Interview.)

Base on my experience in FOOL, I believe it is the interviewing bar as well.

I played around with this a little bit and there's no question Interviewing is important. I'm not convinced young talent doesn't factor in to a lesser degree but it was just a quick eyeball test.

Well, that certainly explains why my AMAZING scouting doesn't appear to be as amazing as its ratings.

You know, since my interviewing is in the can.

Yeah likewise. But this would explain why my draft bars have had bigger ranges than I would expect.

Well that pretty much settles it, I've been focusing too much on scouting when my main goal was to decrease the size of the BLUE bar.

So what exactly does scouting focus on? It is how it rates players NOT on your roster? If that's the case - I wouldn't give two shites :)

It would just be my luck that scouting was, where you scout your opponent that your playing next week. Where I was thinking it was scouting collage players. Glad sawblade asked the question and I happened to read it.
