View Full Version : NY vs Boston.. an Idea.

Was banging my head against the wall trying to figure out some bugs with my website (God, I hate PHP..). When I decided to pop on hattrick and see if I had a friendly setup yet.

I noticed I had a new submission in my guestbook from NAIWF, owner of a *spit* New York team, meaning I'd have to go an post something nice in his guestbook.. Which I believe was the ploy to begin with (Never trust a New Yorker.. ).

Well, this gave me an idea. I was pondering setting up a small "invitational" friendly cup for while. Originally I had plans along the lines of a "Beanpot" tournament of sorts. The guestbook post got me to thinking it might be fun to have a small NY-v-Boston tournament instead.

This post is just to check for interest, I was thinking a smallish little tourney with maybe 4 teams from each region (NY&NYC counting as one region/Boston&Massachusettes counting as one.) I'd even be willing to put up a prize for the winner, with the winner getting a choice of 3 months of Supporter or HAM registration.

I'd probably hold the tourney every 2 or 3 seasons as to try and have as little impact on other friendly cups as possible (and give reasonable "gloating time: ). The main reason for the "Invitational" is an attempt to keep it relatively competitive. *looks over at BillyNYC* Don't even think about it.. ;p With me most likely setting up a "comittee" of sorts with an owner from each region for future selections into the tourney.

Obviously, this won't take place until atleast next season. Anyways, if anyone from the NY or Boston regions is interested, please drop me a PM.

Don't get me started on Houston, I haven't forgiven the Rockets for beating my beloved Knicks in '94. Although I do have fond, fond memories of the memorable collapse of the Oilers against NY's bastard stepchild, the Buffalo Bills :)

The great comeback game. Woohoo! Too bad most Buffalonians are too busy still crying over Wide Right to remember it. :D

The West Henrietta FC would love to take up the cause for all New Yorkers.

a good time to organize an invitational would be immediately following the group phase of the FOFC III Cup. A whole lot of teams will be available for play then. :D

Funny, I have a friend who's a Bills fan in upstate New York and he'd rather have our support from Houston than your bloody city. Never cried about a football game before but that one came damn close. Talley can still kiss my ass for that hold in OT that cost us the ball.

Then again New York had the gaul to spend an entire article calling Houston a "hellhole" during that series: pot calling the kettle black if ever I've heard it. So, after winning one of the Houston papers was kind enough to make our headline: "Hellhole 1 New York 0".
