double dola,
first update's in, not much action and I couldn't get a sell out crowd. Only 14 short of a sell out of 12000 though... Not bad considering the other team is another crappy bot-team who is currenly in 6th place in the league...

triple dola,
Pittbulls score the first goal of the game after missing one just before that:
Mel Russell caught everyone off guard with an opening pass - but unfortunately Claes Eriksson was as surprised by the move as anybody else, and managed to miss the extraordinary opportunity. Pintendre took the lead in the 9:th minute of the game by 1 to 0, as Mel Russell elegantly received a pass going deep, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar.
Mel Russell (a mix between Mel Gibson and Kirk Russell) isn't the best of my players but he is regularly in the middle of attacks. Claes Eriksson is another one of my newly acquired 17 yo inadequate playmaker trainees...
Patrick Kvarning is another one, him being 17 and passable playmaker with also passable stamina. You might have heard about him in another thread ;)

and speaking of Mel Russell, he just scored the second goal of the Pittbulls...
A bit later, a magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Pintendre´s Mel Russell putting the lead up to 2 - 0.
That was in the 26th minute...
Elsewhere in Canada...
Bbors is down 0-2, after 26
Walk-in Special is tied 0-0, after 26
Goldfish is down 0-2, after 26
Les Joujoux is tied 1-1, after 28

Nice game so far for my striker Jack Pack:
Some lightning fast two feet dribbles by Jack Packs leftTyler Barkley way behind in the 21st minute, but the shot was just outside. In the 27:th minute the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending and Jack Pack put the ball away for 0 - 1. Jack Pack increased the visitors lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 0 - 2.
Playing it cool to a nice result so far...
You need some competition, eh frogman?

What did you feed Mel Russell this week, frogman? Hat trick 38 minutes in, I need some of that for my forwards. ;)
FrogMan
05-25-2003, 04:43 PM
he, he, I just saw that and that's nothing, he participated in our first scoring chance, feedin Claes Eriksson, and he also had another scoring chance just before scoring his third goal of the game... Mel is the man of the hour, a pleasant inadequate score/inadequate passer whos can run around quite a lot with his solid stamina :D

Water bottles? Is that what your suppose to have on your sidelines for the team? We have a mini-bar serving Guiness on tap.. Hmm, maybe that is the reason my forwards are a bit sluggish at times.

good first half in Pintendre, we are up 3-0 with a pretty good 85% possession rate. This game is the second of a back to back series with the Mounties and last week, we were up 5-0 at the half with 86% possession. The game was played "normal" by mistake and ended 5-0. This week, we're PICing and still 3-0 with only a 1% drop in possession at the half...
Other games in Canada...
Bbors is down 0-2, 31% possession
Walk-In Special is up 3-0, 80% possession
Goldfish is down 0-3, 39% possession
Les Joujoux is up 2-1, 68% possession

Switch the Ginness to something thinner and higher in alcohol percentage, say some 7% Smirnoff Ice or some 8-9% Canadian microbrew ;)

and Mel Russell strikes again...
Pintendre were given a penalty in the 51st, neatly put away by Mel Russell. 4 - 0 for the home side. The structure of the game started to change as Pintendre decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone.
And now we'll protect our lead... Life is good against a bot team :D

Looks like Mel Russell is making a bid for series top scorer, tallying four goals for himself early in the game. Wonder if he can get up to six... :)

I don't know about that, but he was one or two goals off the lead before this week. He had another hattrick about two weeks ago...
on another note, don't you like hardworking players? I do and when I see something like this:
After an industrious effort down the middle Claes Eriksson could have closed the game off in the 55:th minute, but his finishing shot hit the post.
An industrious effort, wow...
Meanwhile, Jean Saint-Laurent scored a 5th goal for the Pittbulls, increasing our lead to 5-0.

Games are now over in Canada, here are the results...
Pintendre Pittbulls won 5-0, 85 & 92% possession
Bbors lost 0-3, 31 & 40% possession
Walk-In Special won 7-0, 80 & 88% possession
Goldfish lost 0-6, 61 and 49% possession
Les Joujoux won 5-2, 68 & 85% possession
For my team, I'm happy, not excessively happy, just happy. We got a poor midfield rating but that was expected with the PIC and four 17 yo midfielders...
Good luck all Americans!!! GO FOFC!!!

Narcís Alicante came close to putting the visiting team one up in the 5:th minute, following a solo raid down the middle, but Fidel Moses managed to tip the ball to a corner. In the games 21st minute Nicodemo Villazán almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a spectacular scissors shot just past the bar.
TWO misses already. I think I preferred no updates :(

In my book it's all a matter of alcohol level per volume. I checked it up and the Smirnoff Ice you guys get in the States is a watered down version, as it's only 5% alcohol per volume. Here (at least in Quebec) it's 7%. Doesn't seem like much but drink two or three of those on a hot, sunny afternoon and you'll feel them quite a bit more than your regular beer...
Also, our regular beer is 5% alcohol/volume from what I remember when I lived in the States, yours is a bit weaker than that tooo...

26 minutes into the game Yang Yun-xian had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came Tillmann Sommerhäuser. After 30 minutes Manhattans Tillmann Sommerhäuser made his way through the middle, putting the visitors up 0 - 1.
Glad I scored, pissed about the injury though. Damned Communists!

hey good news!!! Tore Birgersson, my 17 yo trainee who got injured in the game, and had to be replaced, only got a 1 week injury and is already listed as "bruised but training". This means I squeezed an extra trainee in the game today, 6 midfielders instead of my regular 5...

I'm not sure on the price of Maker's Mark. I tried some (my aunt recommended it to me, of all people) this weekend, and it was amazing. It's more than Jack Daniels, but I don't think by too much.

In the games 68:th minute Manhattan´s Narcís Alicante fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Narcís Alicante for taking a dive.
Alicante will now be suspended for next week's game. So far, I lead 1-0, but have an injury, an impending suspension and THREE missed goals, damnit!

Well my squad's only down 7-Zip about midway through the 2nd Half..
The D is playing well against the Top Team in my League (V.114), but we may need to think about bringing in the backup QB to try to get the Offense jumpstarted..
Oh well, the score may be bad but I was expecting this.. I got blown out, 4-Zip by this same team (Nagle's Noles) last week on my home turf, so I went on ahead and decided to give of my normal backups got the start for this one..
I just hope we can hold them to single digits..

Due to some great work on the right wing Communists:s Marcelo Neves was able to even the score in the 81st minute to 1 - 1. The referee showed Manhattans Ubaldo Matildo Collado the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
Great, just great. Blow the lead with 9 mins left, and pick up yet another card. I hate this game.
