I think it is important for the integrity of the game that cheaters be caught and removed, so I am offering this thread as hopes we can post things that look like cheating, or at least incredibly stupid.

Or he had a typo and was trying to bid 3000. Almost happened to me once. :D

what do the other transactions from these two teams look like? Sometimes you'll find some other goofy transactions that can confirm it was a cheat attempt and not a simple typo...

It also might be a trade. Where each guy bids 300,000 on the player they are trading for.

I'd still report it because it is most likely a cheat, but sometimes there are other reasonable explanations.

Hmm... it seems that it's possible that the team that was leading my series was owned by a cheater. They had won every game except their one game against me when we tied at one, I log on today and yesterday they were replaced with a new owner. Now a brand new team is leading the series, though with 3 teams who have joined in since the season started I could end up promoting this year, which I'm not sure I want to do.

I've heard about trades, but everytime I saw something about that topic in the conferences, it was always mentionned to make sure a GM was aware of it...

I did make a trade last season, but that was a deal involving a solid playmaker/solid defender youth pull. I cannot see what would possess someone to trade for this player. The agent fees alone would cost a lot more than the player is worth.

Looking at it, the guy who bought the player is from China? Perhaps he or the computer did the conversion wrong or something along those lines?

The player that was purchased fpr 300,00K has since been fired. So there is no record of him in the computer anymore.

Also, Shadow Light has only made 4 total transfers. 2 of which were to Anti Green Oasis, a both players were fired right after they were bought. Looks pretty shady.

Check the IPs.

Check their location.

Check their names.

Usually the IP gives it away easily.

holy crap that looks like cheating, and that team is in my series also look at this transfer history...

Date Type Players To/From Price Value then
5/30/2003 Sold (Fired player) to Anti Green Oasis 300 000 US$ (4 000 US$)
5/5/2003 Sold (Fired player) to Anti Green Oasis 3 000 US$ (8 000 US$)

Well I guess I will need to report him also, that really pisses me off, I noticed the transfer on may 5th to a team w/ basically the same IP but I did not report because it was only $3k and it might have just been friends in the same house or something like that  hopefully they will close his team down quickly since I play him again in 2 weeks I think.

I also reported a team in my series, the #1 team at that, and now, in two weeks, instead of having to play a team with a 58 NSI, I get to play a team with a 26:)

I think the same thing happened to the former #1 team in my series. They were putting up lots of solids and excellents and then 2-3 weeks ago the owner changed suddenly and they are now putting up weaks and inadequates.

Bee, you know that when there's an owner change, they reset the whole roster. So in fact the team that is now in your league is a completely new team. Just so you know...

I'm pretty sure no one in my series cheats, thankfully. But I'm guessing it gets more and more popular as you go up the division ladder.

I would guess the opposite -- more to lose if caught, and opponents/league mates are probably more adept at spotting cheaters and less likely to be tolerant of it.

A newbie in my division bought a guy for $1K and sold him for $250K.... Just the other guy buying the player is even more newbie than my newbie...
