I started this with the intent of doing a report on all the groups in play, but I have to leave on a three day trip and will not be able to finish it before the next round of games. Maybe some others can chip in and get it done?

Here is what I have so far:

With only 2 weeks left of group play I thought it was time to speculate and see who can make the next round.

GROUP A
This is one tough group with no one team taking charge. Mathematically, no team is out of it yet. But the Blade Bombers are getting close. They need to win out and have both the goldurnears and Bamas lose out, and then they would only be 2nd at best. The big match to watch this week will be current champion MoKan Mighty Bastards vs. Manchester Silver Bullets. You can count the loser of this match out as well. A win for either the goldurnears or Bamas will virtually guarantee advancement into the tournament.

Group B
Brillig has put himself into great position to advance into the next round. Having already won 3 matches, and still a match to play against last place IFC Bananskruv, he is nearly a lock. That opens the door for the last guaranteed entry into the tourney. The Gasmasters/FC Hartford match will eliminate another team. The Ruskies can win out and take the next entry, or if they falter the Reign will be right there.

Group C
The Bees have taken a commanding lead and other teams are trying to keep up. A perfect record has the highest seed ready to advance into the next round. The West Fargo Stangs are out of it, not mathematically, but I wouldn’t put your money down. Frankfort has their work cut out for them as they take on the Bees, if they lose it would open the door for the rest. If they can pull off the upset they are probably in. The Vandals, Emeralds and Roosters are not out of it, but they need to win out or get help to have any chance of advancing.

Group D
Group D features a tough battle at the top, Gargoyles, Negative Waves, and SG Fighting Eagles are the top teams looking for promotion. The First Coast Conquistadors can play spoilers and almost did by getting a draw with Gargoyles this past week. They will be heading to the consolation tournament. It is going to be very hard for the Wowhawks to advance as well; they are tied with Aviators, but lost the HTH earlier. Spring Grove will probably need to beat Gargoyles in the last week to advance, unless they are one of the top 3rd place teams.

I'll try. I have to if I want any chance of qualification, after Spring Grove beat up my defence on the way to winning last week. If my midfield trainee hadn't been forced into the centre-back slot, it would have been a whole different match.

I got back and had a little time, here is a little more.

Group E
Sterlingice has put his team in a great place to advance into the next round having won 3 games in a row. That only leaves one slot left. Rednecks, Square Pegs, and Ice Storm FC are going to fight it out until the finish. Any loss for any of those teams could spell disaster. The South Boston Hooligans and the incredible shrinking Tigers are effectivley out of competeition.

Group F
Early season favorite SSFC have not dissapointed, and are right on track, after grabbing 3 early wins. The North Plainfield Plague have their work cut out for them this week. Alf Trickers look to be the other favorite out of this division. A loss by NPP, or to win out would seal advancement. Shadow Dragons and FFF are out. Marauders would have to win out and have some help from Trickers and Plague.

Group G
A tight race as a result of the apparent removal of two teams from competetion has made this a very tight contest. The group favorite Slumlords were upset last week by the Misfitz, and that set up a tie at the top between 3 teams: Arkham Avengers, West Henrietta FC, and Manical Misfitz. None of the 4 remaining teams are really out if it, and there will be matchups between the top 4 teams over the next two weeks. Any for any team will mean certain doom.

Group H
Lytic and his SouthPark Cows, who advanced deep into the US Open Cup, have sound the FOFC Cup challenging, as they sit in 4th, but they are still in contention. The Chesapeake Cheapshots are in the drivers seat having only allowed 1 goal, and having to face the last place Tomahawks, who are out of it. Little Green Monsters are also out. That leaves 3 teams after 1 spot. That last spot will likely come down to the last match between SouthPark Cows and White Sox Pride. Bbors isn’t good enough to advance and he knows it.

I like how the goldurnears, currently sitting on top of Group A, are deemed to be a wildcard entry into the round of 32. My guys have several copies of this document taped around the locker room.

grrrr :)

Group I
Note to The Afoci: Ardent has to lose in order for you to advance. He plays the other top 2 teams, but has always had a tough team, and has never finished lower than the quarter-finals in the FOFC Cup. Good Luck! booger ballers, G-Vegas FC, and Lousiana Cyclones are all eliminated and will need to play in the FOFC Consolation Cup for their honors. The Pintendre Pitbulls, look to be in great position as well, a win this week or next will clinch advancement for them.

Group J
A tight group to say the least. The Shaw_Shanksters and Toledo Drunkards look to be out of it. The rest of the 4 teams are cramped at the top, separated by only 3 points. While AnalBumCovers are in first now, they have the hardest road to stay there. Aardvarks look to have the easiest road to the tourney, as they play the 2 lower teams. Assuming that, the group could come down to the last match between Hamas and AnalBumCovers. Else United needs help if it wants to advance into the tournament.

Group K
RonnieDobbs has led the Boston Wyckyd Sceptre to 3 straight wins and is almost certain of advancement, playing the Scranton Slime who are out. The Ultra Nox are not quite out yet, but the planets would need to align to advance. If the Calibri, the group favorite, win another, they should advance to the next round. One loss for either the Condors or Colossal Squids will end their hopes of a title.

Group L
In what has to be considered the toughest group of the bunch, 3 teams have a realistic shot.. The match to watch this week is undefeated Cedar Pond, who learned to score from somewhere, against a very strong NE Oklahoma Sidekicks football team. The Sidekicks need the win to stay competetive.. The Toads will win in the last week and take the top spot, leaving 1 spot remaining. The McGee’s and Plowboys are out, and the Morrisvillians might as well be too. Of the 2 remaining teams I am putting my money on the Fairfax Admirals, especially since they beat the Sidekicks in the HTH.

Group M
The Galesburgh Avengers were the favorites in this division, and they are not letting anyone down, having won 3, they only need 1 more to clinch a spot in the next round. Cowtown FC has bowed out, and both Newton Rams and Golden Eagles FC, need luck, but are most likely eliminated. That bings the battle for the last spot down to Seagrove United and Complex Spikes. With Seagrove crushing them 5-1 in the HTH, you can pencil them in to move on to the next round.

Group N
In a group that was seeded late, there exist no top teams, but still a great competition. Thunder Thighs will move on as they will beat the Averill Park Mercury this week. Sorry RPI-Fan. Speaking of the Mercury they are out, and so are the Baltimore Blast. FC Duxbury has an improtant match against Long Island Pride, if they lose they will go home, and if the Pride win they stay in contention and in a tie with Greenlight Superior FC. However, Greenlight has the advantage, as they play both the cellar dwellers and have the HTH victory to boot.

Good luck with that! Go Raiders!
