View Full Version : Your top three prospects

Okay, I'm bored, and I need to keep my mind off buying new players and ruining my chances at getting a new stadium...
So my idea is for all of us to put your top three prospects, that means, 19 and under, guys you wish that you could train to their max potential...I know some of them will be prospects meant for sale, but I prefer to think of the 3 guys you have that if you had the time you'd wish you could keep to yourself.
These are guys you are sure will help boost your team...I don't care if they are 3 middies that you love because you train midfield, or if they are 3 completely different players...
Also you don't have to add stats, skills or anything, here are my three:
Top Prospect
Gary Grewar
50 000 US$, 19 years, inadequate form
Has wretched experience and weak leadership abilities
Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: poor
Winger: poor Defending: inadequate
Scoring: passable Set Pieces: passable
Gary may not have a solid scoring rating as fellow 19 y.o teammate Bart Zabawa but he is 2nd in scoring in v.56 division. I bought him for a measily 17k from the goat herders of Scotland division and he's proved his worth. Tough and reliable, he's a popular guy with the fans and teammates, he sometimes has fitness problems but always seems to work through pain. A side note: Zabawa is a top prospect of the Ultra Nox team, and even though he is a solid scorer, he was had for the price of 64k!!! Not a sound transfer, I'm glad to have him, but I could have grabbed someone cheaper, plus he's unpredicatable so he tends to "disappear" at times.
Steve Delay
64 000 US$, 17 years, solid form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities
Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: passable
Winger: poor Defending: inadequate
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: poor
Nasty but brimming with potential...Delay has played at both defender and midfielder and has wreaked havoc whenever he's played. Purchased for 32k he has doubled in value by scouts' projections....prone to the yellow card and the occasional outburst, this Aussie's passing and defense are quite sound, GM Qwikshot wants more playmaking ability to go with it, he should be a force for years to come.
Christian Hansson
44 000 US$, 17 years, excellent form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities [Quick]
Stamina: weak Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: weak Passing: poor
Winger: inadequate Defending: passable
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: inadequate
Christian came from the Swedish division to help replace Lezak Wolek at wing, GM Qwikshot needed a body at wingback and grabbed this prospect for 3k. The quickness is actually a bad thing which is why Hansson will someday be formally trained on the art of playmaking.
Really Hansson, Bart Zabawa (19, forward) and Per Josefsson (17, winger) tie for the third spot, sadly none are American, but there are a few honorable mentions...
Honorable Mentions
Louis Vu
13 000 US$, 17 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities
Stamina: poor Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate Passing: disastrous
Winger: poor Defending: inadequate
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: excellent
Sidney Levin
28 000 US$, 19 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities [Powerful]
Stamina: poor Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: poor Passing: inadequate
Winger: poor Defending: inadequate
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: wretched
Both are nasty, the edge would be to Lou Vu who has mastered the art of set pieces...expect to see them hurt forwards in the backfield...perhaps the Ultra Nox youth squad is finally starting to produce some prospects.
Ultra Nox initially trained playmaking but have changed to defense for the past 5-6 weeks...

It was a nice grab...he was actually inadequate at defense...but remember speedy defenders are actually trouble. I rather train him for winger...he'd be dangerous in a good way then.

a dola to this, I just grabbed 1 inadequate middie, 3/4 inadequate defenders and 1 inadequate forward for I believe less than 10k total...

Well since I train midfield, my prospects are all at IM and winger.
<b>Joonas Vahtramäe </b>
44 000 US$, 17 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and poor leadership abilities [Unpredictable]
Stamina: poor Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: passable Passing: poor
Winger: weak Defending: inadequate
Scoring: weak Set Pieces: weak
Would be starting with better stamina.
<b>Toader Popa </b>
49 000 US$, 17 years, solid form
Has disastrous experience and poor leadership abilities [Technical]
Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate Passing: inadequate
Winger: poor Defending: weak
Scoring: weak Set Pieces: poor
Already putting up 2.0 stars without an offensive order.
The rest of my IM's are all 19. Each has some advantages (passing, def, or both), but are a bit old for prospects, and I am not sure how long I will keep them around.
My third prospect is my major project.
Clark Merritt
150 000 US$, 18 years, passable form
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities [Quick]
Stamina: inadequate Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: poor Passing: passable
Winger: solid Defending: weak
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: poor
I play him at IM when I get the chance. A few bumps in PM, and he will be a great winger.

Has disastrous experience and wretched leadership abilities [Technical]
Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: passable Passing: weak
Winger: poor Defending: weak

Both of them put up 2 stars a game. With my stamina training at the end of the season, they should look great.
Tim Baugh
85 000 US$, 19 years, solid form
Has disastrous experience and passable leadership abilities [Quick]
Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: passable Passing: weak
Winger: weak Defending: weak
Scoring: weak Set Pieces: passable
I got him while at inad for about 13000. I liked his secondary skills, and his value was so high, i figured hed pop the next week. He did. Got me 2.5 stars this week. Most likely due to his solid form.
I got all 3 for a combined 23k. I know they are all 19, and kinda old for prospects, but at this point, im just happy to have some trainees. (300k in debt...)

He was a youth pull from my team a few weeks ago; so that is really the only reason he is a favorite of mine. Since he is still 17 and passable I will probably keep him very long term also. It would be nice if the corner stone of my defense for seasons and seasons to come was a player pulled from my youth squad.

I may have overpaid at just over $110,000, but I bought him with the intent to sell in the future and he cost ~$90,000 less than 17 year olds of similar skill, so I took a shot. He's due to pop with Tim Thomas next season if it takes the maximum amount of weeks, so it's nice to know I have a suitable replacement for my best defender already.

As an offensive winger, he's probably already pretty darn good. A solid/passable should be able to do 2 1/2-stars and solid+ ratings on that wing attack pretty easy. What he's probably looking for is some contribution to midfield play from his winger (even without playing him 'toward middle').

Exactly! Mostly due to his contribution, I get a formidable attack on his wing which is enough to overwealm all the defenses in my league (and will be competitive in div IV whenever I get there). However, my midfield is a bit weak for div. 4. I paid a lot for Merritt several weeks ago, but figure he should be a starter for several seasons.
Since I have another good young winger (pass W, pass Pass), I would like to mix in an occasional week of winger training when appropriate (offseason, injuries to trainees etc). By the time Merritt is 21, I figure he should be Exc Winger, Pass PM, Pass Passing which is a pretty good all-around winger.

Passable winger skill on the wingback (played normally not defensively). One solid, one passable forward, and a IM with passable passing. I believe that rounds out the contributers.

Winger: poor Defending: weak
Scoring: inadequate Set Pieces: solidOne of my most expensive buy ever at 57 000. I still think it was a pretty good buy, though. I'd been chasing inadequate scoring/solid passing forward for a time and have always had to drop out in the 70+ range. His set piece was a big bonus as well. Because of him and a few others that I picked up rather cheaply, I'm probably going to get into scoring training for a period of time.Mike Knight (11881888)

Scoring: inadequate Set Pieces: weakMike was set to join line of pull-and-list [a shorter line that the more familiar pull-and-fire] until he stepped into an FOFC Cup game as a defensive wingback and put up 2 1/2-stars. After two straight 2 1/2-stars in FOFC Cup games, Mike stepped for starting wingback Gary Rhodes in this past week against divisional foe, the wicked_smurfs, and put up another 2 1/2. I can live with that.Bruce Carroll (11273611)
18 years, solid form, healthy
A controversial person who is balanced and dishonest.
Has disastrous experience and passable leadership abilities.
Stamina: inadequate Goaltending: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate Passing: solid
Winger: wretched Defending: weak
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: wretchedPassable/Controversial isn't a GoodThing[tm] but my team isn't short on Solid leaders so that's not a worry. Yanked off the Oceania transfer wire for 7 000 as a weak playmaking/solid passing project, he's been amusing to watch grow. Having popped a few weeks ago to inadequate, he's obviously a fair distance away from contributing to the team but, at 18, time is on his side (for now). As a money making venture, it's not a practical one but I've never been considered practical.
Oh, yeah . . . and much love to my keeper, Wes Branham, who's been carrying my defense for the recent time. Hooray!

Naturally, the top three prospects for the Screamin' Seamen are all young defenders.
#20 Keith Stubbs
19 years old, passable form, healthy.
A sympathetic guy who is temperamental and upright.
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities.
Nationality: American
Assessed Value: $83,000
Wage: $720 per week
Stamina: Inadequate
Playmaking: Weak
Winger: Wretched
Scoring: Weak
Goaltending: Disastrous
Passing: Wretched
Defending: Solid
Set Pieces: Wretched
Keith is a product of the SSFC youth program, and is the heir-apparent to Chuck Scales position as starting central defender in our 3-5-2 scheme. Although he does not have the same level of raw skill as Cameron McDonald (see below), his intangibles are better, and performs to a higher level than Cameron does when the chips are down.
#18 Cameron McDonald
18 years old, weak form, healthy.
A pleasant guy who is temperamental and honest.
Has disastrous experience and wretched leadership abilities.
Specialty: Head
Nationality: American
Assessed Value: $129,000
Wage: $1,000 per week
Stamina: Weak
Playmaking: Weak
Winger: Poor
Scoring: Weak
Goaltending: Disastrous
Passing: Weak
Defending: Excellent
Set Pieces: Poor
Cameron is another product of the Screamin' Seamen Youth Squad, and has worlds of potential. Unfortunately, he has yet to live up to that potential on the pitch, and has been outshown repeatedly by Keith Stubbs. Apparently Cameron has poor base-form, but if he were to show signs that this is not the case, he could rapidly eclipse Keith as the b-team's premier defender.
#17 Mattias Leier
19 years old, solid form, healthy.
A popular guy who is calm and honest.
Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities.
Nationality: Estonian
Assessed Value: $142,000
Wage: $1,104 per week
Stamina: Passable
Playmaking: Poor
Winger: Passable
Scoring: Poor
Goaltending: Disastrous
Passing: Weak
Defending: Solid
Set Pieces: Weak
Mattias is the premier wingback trainee on the club, and was purchased last season for $102,000. He is consistently the best wing player for the b-team. Unfortunately for Mattias, he is stuck behind the two best young wingbacks in series IV.49, Arlen Lucas and Tyler Willard. Arlen and Tyler are only 21 and 20 years old, respectively, so it will be difficult for Mattias to break his way into the starting lineup.
Arlen and Tyler do not meet the criteria set forward for this thread (they are over 19 years old), but are both rated as passable wingers and formidable defenders.
