They keep saying it'll be released during the summer. No official date yet.

Heh, I was going to also make a crack about the release date, but after looking at the screens I'm actually quite impressed! Looks better than I anticipated.
Hope to see it in not too long.

Probably the same time that Maximum Football will be released.
In all seriousness, the .400 name normally puts out great efforts.

Did you ever play TDCB???
It's a o.k game now......but is was not a "great effort" to begin with.

Boy, "glad" you got the memory of an elephant........ever thought this game has kinda been delayed a bit because they LEARNED from that situation?
Without the role playing portion of the game, I've totally lost interest myself. It looks like this year's version won't really have any career management options. :(

I already see a few bugs in the screenshots.
Ali "away circling away", huh?
And look at the view fighter screen. There's only several fighters on the list, they are just listed likr 5 or 6 times each. What is that?

You're are telling me that you don't remember that game?

I thought it was funny that last month the .400 Web site still said that the game was coming out in January 2003. Whoops.
I admit I'm intrigued. I'm not a huge boxing fan, but I enjoyed tinkering with WBM. If this takes that concept a few steps further, I'll be impressed.

geez, no love for the 400 boyz today I guess
I have nothing against the .400 boys.....nor do i think their products suck at all....i think they WILL make solid games...but as any company has they are hitting bumps in the road...young companies often do this because they are anxious to get a product out on the market.
I honestly don't think it will happen to them again, they learned the hard way and now they have to win back those consumers who felt they were screwed.

No career mode? :/

No career mode until next year/next release. They're releasing just the straight sim this year from what I hear, and then working on the RPG aspects for later.
And yeah, that sucks.

So if I create a boxer, how does that work? I want to be able to climb the ranks.
No career mode means my money stays with me.

No, I do remember it just don't feel the need to mention it wherever 400 is brought up concerning a game release. Nature of the beast I guess.

So without a career mode, isn't this like Diamond Mind Baseball or Strat-O-Matic, just a replay game? I guess there are a lot of people that want that, and I can see how matching up fighters from different areas could be interesting for a while. But, it would get old pretty fast for me. Oh, well I guess I should look at it as a good opportunity to save money.
Wow!...I'm surprised they would release this without career mode...i would think that this is the major point of the game?
I'm with Vex on this one....i'll keep my $$ until career mode comes out.

Well, it's like this.
There is no manager module. But the fighters still go through careers. The game keeps rankings, title holders, fight history, etc. etc. Pretty much everything a career sim would.
Without the manager module, basically you schedule the fights yourself (or let Auto-Schedule do that).
Hopefully there will be demo for it at some date, but it's not JUST a replay sim.

So, is it just sort of a hands-off sim? You don't really control anything about the fighters, just sort of let them go? I'm not trying to be negative or anything, I'm just a little slow at times and I'm trying to understand exactly what this is. I am glad to hear that fighters age and there are rankings and that type of thing.

Maybe checkout more detail in the forum.
I would still consider it a replay sim. If you can make Frazier fight 300 times and he suffers no physical deterioration, then it's not a career sim.
I know the previous version of this game had a "career stage" option where you could say he's past his prime, or just a rookie, but I want the computer to handle this for me, because I'm not objective enough to do it myself.
Also without new boxers coming in regularly to take over for the older ones, the game really does get stale after a while. You know who's the best, and it will stay that way.
I guess the only way to handle this would be manually doing it yourself, creating a number of new boxers every year and somehow randomizing their talent. Just do a dice roll for every guy and create them yourself. Same with retiring guys, after a certain amount of fights, cross indexed with age, you start rolling dice, and there's a greater chance every fight that his abilities start going down. But realistically you could only run one division this way, it would take too long to do for the "boxing world". And isn't this the reason we play computer games, to take care of all this stuff for us?

Ditto. Without a career mode, this game is a bust.

And this is exactly how I'll play the game. :)
You may consider it a bust for you, but there are still a lot of people waiting to buy "just a replay sim".
I have to admit it does look really cool though. I've been waiting for a good boxing sim to come out for a long time. I'm just a bit cheesed at what I'll have to do to make it the boxing game that I want it to be. I used to manually create and change players for my computer games all the time ... in 1990. I also thought that career mode would be a prerequisite of any .400 game since that's really what they revolve around.
I do have quite a bit of experience with this game going back to the original board game and the first computer version for windows.
