I will be using the default CornellVerse. I thought of using the DOTT mod, but thought that since I know most of the wrestlers in that mod, that I might try and force it to be more like a historic replay game. So I decided to stick witht he default database.

I did, however, download a mod that added a bunch of storylines and angles (http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14827). Many of them are based on real life storylines from the past (some more loosely than others), but it'll do. The default storylines were just too few. This mod contains about 150. Plenty to choose from.

Anyway, here's the start of it.

New York City Wrestling

I'm holding off on putting out a roster for a bit. When I start a new game, several of my wrestlers get taken by larger feds, and I clear out wrestlers that are too expensive.

NYCW only has 2 shows per year. That won't do. I get rid of them completely, and I start up a weekly show called NYCW Weekly. We're going to lose money hand over fist at first, but I need to get my league out there!

But it's not really my league. The Stomper is still the owner, so I can't change the style. He'll probably give me goals to reach too. Since he's on a monthly wage, and not per appearance, I want him to be front and center of my shows. However, at 56 years old, he's not exactly the most athletic guy. I make him an Authority Figure.

For the first month, I'll be reworking my roster. I'm going to try to get about 4-5 female wrestlers. In my few games I played before, they didn't really get over well with the crowds, but they come cheap. I can get a few for $200 PP and 1 or 2 for $300 or $400 PP.

I also want to find some young, unemployed talent. I can get good talent that specializes in one area (but stinks in others).

Anyway, I'll update when I have my roster ready to go.

Possible Fueds to set up

Massive Problem vs. Wiley Coyote - Only two tag teams I have

Mr. America vs. American Buffalo - ME push and both brawlers

Joey Minnesota vs. Steve Flash - ME vs. UM. Both good technical and high performance

A three way fued between Eve Grunge, Kristebel Plum and Melody Cuthill - good technical with the last 2 having some good flying ability too

Nuclear Nevada vs. Sammy The Shark - Both decent all-around.

The Masked Mauler vs. Leroy - by virtue of them being the leftover rumblers.

I should look for another female wrestler to compliment Emma Bitch. Maybe even find a better brawler for The Masked Mauler.

Nice! i'll follow this. I bought TEW2k5 in the release day and was so excited about it, but then other games took my playing time and i never played it deep enought. Also my lack of wrestling knowledge didn't help, but i liked it as deep show business manager sim.

I will follow your dynasty to see if you can excite me again about playing it :)

Now about the NYCW, what is the style?

IT seems you have a good couple with The Masked Mauler and Leroy as they have good chemistry, try them again in the next show in a shorter fight so they won't look tired at the end.

About female workers, i think they only do well on female only shows as the public is looking for it.

Now about the NYCW, what is the style?

Traditional, and I'm not allowed to change it.

Other Info for the league:

New York City Wrestling
Size: Small
Style: Traditional
Money: $6,210 (will drop quickly and hope to build up hype with weekly cards)
Location: Tri-State, USA (will stay in Tri-State every week at first)

Popularity: Tri-State E

I hadn't heard about the women not getting over in nonwomen feds or cards. But then again I don't regularly read the GDS forums. I'll see how it goes and cut them if they don't get any attention.

Grunge vs. Plum vs. Cuthil

A three wrestler "unchained story". They'll be no real structure this, I'm just going to have these three keep fighting each other to see if it can help their overness. No history since it's unchained.

Heat: C-

Wiley Coyote vs. Massive Problem

Standard face team vs heel team. So far, Wiley Coyote has requested a match. Next is for the match to take place.

I can't remember for the first TEW, but for TEW2005, most everything you need to know (roster, titles, teams, stables, storylines, etc.) is accessable from the booking screen.

But I felt that the game had promise, so hopefully I can follow this and see how it should be done. Does the game now give you targets (such as breaking even) or is that a house rule?

That's a goal that the owner, The Stomper, gave me. I have a feeling I'll be fired if I miss it. If I get fired, I think I can try and start my own fed. The reason I didn't just start out as owner or owner of a new fed is because you're only allowed to be the Owner once, so it's one and done as owner of a fed. (I don't like that rule, but it's not a big deal)

Although I wouldn't want to go to a NYCW show at the moment if I was feeling a little low - every match would make me feel even worse so far ;)

My shows are only for those with eternal good moods. :)

The Near Future and the Progress of Storylines

The chicks...

I'm going to end the 3 person unchained story and start Grunge and Cuthill on a 1v1 storyline. Don't know what I'll put them on yet.

Steve Flash is going to be invisible for a bit. I am putting him on a Patriot gimmick and need to give him time out of action for it to take.

I'm going to evolve the Mr America vs American Buffalo storyline to more of a Mr America vs. a few badies. Not sure who I'll ally with American Buffalo. Probably two of the upper midcarders. Then, after a few months, or as soon as his gimmick takes, I'll bring Steve Flash in as an ally for Mr America.

For those of you who download the mod I linked above, make sure you change the step called "Heels Taunt The Faces (S1)" so that Participant 1 and 2 are targets. The error right now is that Participant 1 is a catalyst.

I ran into a problem that I fixed by "cheating"

Here's the thing. The game gives very little information on how it works. When I was given the business goal of not being in debt after 2 years, I thought I would have the time and room to run in the red. Well, at the start of March, I got an email saying I was facing bankruptcy when the promotion was in about as much debt as I was when I finished college. Thought it was a bit funny that I was facing bankruptcy and my goal was to just not be in debt after 2 years.

But anyway, running the NYCW the way I have is definitely not the way to do it by the rules of the game (that for some reason are kept secret). So, I went into the editor and gave myself some money to get out of debt. Some may see that as cheating, and that's fine. To be honest, I don't care. I've had this game since it came out and barely played it. If cheating is how I'm going to get some worth out of it, fine.

Here's how I'm handling it. I'm going to look at the edit as a loan. When my 2 years is up, I'll "pay back" the money and if I'm in the red and get fired, then that's fine. And I'm not going to do the edit thing again. If I blow this money and face bankruptcy again, then it's on me. Now that I know I barely have any room in the red to run, I'll adjust and see if I can't pull this through. (And I don't feel like starting over, so I'll just take the "loan" and go from there).

EDIT: Actually, I'll do it as many times as I want. I'll just make sure I pay it all back so that I don't get carried away. :)

Anyway, back to the dynasty...

Has anyone tried the multiplayer of TEW yet?

I have not, but I just checked the help files and it's mainly for "hot seat" multiplayer. You CAN do it over the internet, but you have to keep sending the entire saved game back and forth between the players. I'd imagine it would be troublesome.

One wonders what this match would have gotten if he'd been on his game, heh. Maybe that's why it took 12 minutes to finish the match, maybe?

Nah, I told them to take that long. When you book a match, you can tell them how long to take (by minutes, not by seconds)

As for how it compares to the free EWR games...it really doesn't. They are two pretty different games. I very much prefer TEW to the EWR games. The EWR games were decent, but had a TON of clicking involved. Took a few dozen clicks and several dialog boxes just to book a single match.

As for TEW being complicated? It's really not. Keeping track of the storylines, and making sure you follow everything to the letter, can be a bit annoying (as you see, I've made a couple of mistakes already in my storylines and had to basically repeat angles).

There are several things I'd change to make it better. Like, being able to go from the storyline screen directly to the booking of an angle screen (when your booking a card) and have it automatically filter the list so only those angles that would advance the storyline would show up would incredibly awesome. Same thing for going from the storyling screen to the booking a match screen. Also, going directly from the Advanced Booking screen to a booking match screen as well.

Also, having a spreadsheet style screen where I can order my wrestlers based on individual attributes would be good as well. As far as I know, you just get a general overview grid which you can filter by general attributes.

As it is, it takes a bit of navigating to get the info you need and then go to the screen to perform the action you need to do. The interface could be better. But the interface is far better than it was in EWR. In EWR, it was horrible.

Cutting Talent

Didn't want to do it, but costs are catching me, and I have to drop some of the more expensive talent and start making 3 or more participant storylines. I let go of Air Attack Weasel as he was an expensive wrestler to keep, and felt that I got just as much value out of Jacob Jett, who costs half of what Weasel did per appearance.

The change is small and adds up over time. But the game does track the progress of their attributes (on a per month basis) so you can see how fast an attribute is raising. And they don't go up very fast (nor should they. Someone shouldn't go from Ds to Bs in a year.)

In the 6 months or so since I've had American Elemental, several of his attributes has gone up one notch (A-A*, D-C-, B-B+, etc.).

I don't think any of the wrestlers have any hidden attributes, so I'm not sure what controls their potential. Probably a combination of their personality, mental attributes and their wrestling style.......ok, I just searched the TEW forums and it seems there is a hidden potential stat for workers. But it doesn't sound like it's set in stone.

Like much of this game, it's not really explained at all...

Urge to Kill, Rising!

For whatever reason, the workers that have been poached by EXODUS are placing EXODUS ahead of me in priority....that does not make me happy.

But, the reason that works have been unavailable is not due to them. It's due to USPW, who have put their monthly cards on Fridays.

It should be several weeks before they have another card, though.

I decided not to resign Matt Sparrow. He's just asking for too much money. I am also not going to resign my contract with The Big Problem. Another case of just too much money.

The State of the NYCW Promotion

I finally turned a profit. For the last few months, I've been hovering around the break even point as I tried desperately to increase my popularity. It seems to have plateaued and now that I have gotten rid of my most expensive talent, I'm putting on decent shows and turning a profit.

Last month, the NYCW turned a profit of $5,037.

New Faces

Zues Maxmillion
Technical B-, Rumble C+, Flying C, Entertainment B-, Performance B+, Physical B
He passed his test match with Tim Westybrook with flying colors. Those two have good chemistry and I'll be having them face each other regularly.

Storylines
I have pretty much given up on storylines for now. I still have a lot of contracts to renew soon so I don't want to take the chance of any of them being disrupted by leaving workers. Besides, right now, at this level, I'm not sure the return is worth the effort.

I think I'll keep doing the interviews regularly. They seem to do a good job at increasing the talent of the wrestlers and the announcers.

One Last Thing...
Hell Monkey will be leaving. He is asking for way more money than I can afford to give him.

State of the NYCW

Once again, I turn a profit. For the month of November, I take almost $5,000 ($4,847 to be exact)

I'm starting to get a bit bored with just the interivew and matches, so I'm going to start doing storylines again, but I'm going to stick with very match-heavy storylines.

Storyline Update

Leroy v Maxmillion v Westybrook - Heat: F
These three will fight each other, until it boils over into a Triangle Match.

Mr America vs. Danny Rushmore - Heat: F
A standard single feud

Marc Speed vs Leroy Chase - Heat: F
They will fight one match, then go on a best of seven series. The same storyline that Hell Monkey and Matt Sparrow faught through.

It looks like your losing some fans, but it bounces around a bit. Haven't seen more than 500 in a few updates there. Think that's because of the fact that certain wrestlers are gone now? Would make some sense if some fans left because their favorite wrestler wasn't brought back for whatever reason.

Yeah, definately. I wasn't able to keep the most popular guys, and I'll go back into losing money every month if I book all of the popular wrestlers ever card. But since I'm turning a profit, I'm fine with the way things are now. After I build up some cash, I'll see about hiring, or rehiring, a popular worker or two.

I've downloaded the demo to see how I found the game - one question: I've written a storyline, (which all checks out when you hit the analysis button: the relevant angles are available for each plot point), and when I added it into the games storyline section, all people were in the right place.

However, in my show I set up the first phase - an angle, with the right protagonists according to the story requirements... The section might have bombed but it met the criteria set out, but the storyline didn't progress... Any clues to what I have done wrong?

(I'm assuming I just set up an angle/match as the storyline requires with the right people in the right place and the game recognises it, or is there another way of putting a part of a storyline into a show?)

All I can think of is that you missed something. There's four different roles, Catalyst, Target, Support and Subject. For angles in a storyline, all of the wrestlers have to be assigned the exact role for the wtory to move.

Example: The Storyline calls for an angle where Wrestler A is the Catalyst, Wrestler B is the Target and Wreslter C is the Support. If you make an angle where A is the Catalyst, B is the Target and C is another Catalyst, the story does not progress. If you make an angle with A as Catalyst, B as Target and leave C out of it, it does not progress. All of the workers and roles have to match in order for the story to progress.

Also, something to keep in mind. Your angles have to fit the requirements, but you can add more roles to an angle. Example: Wrestler A has to be the Catalyst and Wrestler B is the Target. If you make an angle with A as the Catalyst, B as Target, but then add 2 more wrestlers to the angle, the story will still progress.
