View Full Version : NCAA 2007 - USC Mini-dynasty

This will be much less detailed than my other dynasties. I'm going to jot down a few key stats from each game. A description of a few key plays. I'm not going to over my team's current roster in too much depth to start as they are named after the real life USC team using Fairdale King's Rosters. I'm playing on the 360 and starting this mini-dynasty on All American Difficulty level.
Strengths of the team: 2 Amazing WR's in Dwayne Jarrett and Steve Smith. A pair of very good QB's in John David Booty and Sanchez. A very good left side of the OL that is all rated above 90. The defensive front 7 is very highly rated. My secondary is young and not rated quite as well.
We started off the season at Arkansas which has a good team that is rated just a bit below USC. At halftime, we are up 14-3 as we have been putting pressure on their QB Dick, who is 3 of 12 at the half.
However, their option attack and talented HB have gotten them some good yardage on the ground.

The 3rd quarter sees a big turn of events as Darren McFadden their very talented HB has 2 big TD runs on back to back drives to give them a 17-14 lead.
I find myself in shock as after stopping me short on 4th and 1 on their 20, they drive down the field ending with a touchdown pass to make it 24-14.
I think I made a good choice in going with AA instead of Heisman.
Shock turns to disgust as Booty is sacked on the next play, fumbles it, and they run it in for a TD. 31-14 and the home crowd is going crazy. :(
With 9 minute quarters, I only have 11 minutes to turn the game around.
Things turn even worse as the next play is battled by a DL who knocks it to a MLB for the pick.
McFadden is just killing me and keeping momentum on their side. We have no chance of a comeback with 6 minutes left in the game as they go up 38-14.
I spoke too quickly as we strike in 3 big plays including a bomb to Jarrett. I make the tough decision to go for a stop with 5:45 left and down 38-21.
We get the ball back with 4:45 after forcing a punt.
They blitz relentlessly, giving up a few good plays, but eventually they force me into my 2nd 4th down of the drive. This time a 4th and 12 which I can't convert. The game is over with us down 38-21 with 2:34 left.
A major upset for us. At least it was early in the season.
We lose the game 38-21 in Arkansas.
Key stats:
Booty 20 of 41 for 295 yards 2 TD 3 INT (mostly as I was trying desperately to come back.)
C. Dick 10 of 25 for 119 yards, 1 TD 1 INT.
Rushing:
C. Washington had 13 carries for 55 yards for me. (mostly in the 1st half.)
Darren McFadden had 26 carries for 169 yards and 2 TD's with a long of 44 and 42.
C. Dick had 5 carries for 18 yards.
Receiving:
D. Jarrett had 6 catches for 117 yards and 2 TD's.
S. Smith had 4 catches for 75 yards for me.
W. Murphy led them with 4 catches for 25 yards and a TD.
Ting led my team with 7 tackles. 4 other guys had 5.
A Brown sacked my QB 5 times! I really was getting nailed once I abandon the running game. Also, I have to make sure to vary my counts.
A. Brown led the team with 9 tackles.
D. Sims led them with 2 interceptions.
T. Thomas had my only interception.
Total offense: Ark 309, USC 304.
We had 5 turnovers to their 1.

That loss dropped us from 4th to 14th in the rankings.
We made Anthony Brown the defensive player of the Week.
Bobby Reid for Oklahoma State was the offensive player of the week with 10 carries for 110 yards, 16-27 passing for 258 yards, and 7 total TD's against a cream puff school.
We have a bye in week 2.
We drop to #15. Today we host Nebraska which is 18th. Lee is picking us to win while Kirk is picking Nebraska. Both picked us to win the first game.

It's a rainy, muddy game today in LA.
Wow. Bad start to the game, as after a long drive, Booty fumbles inside the 20. Nebraska's QB hits his WR in stride for an 84 yard TD on their 1st play!
We put together a balanced drive that ends in a 2 yard TD run by Washington to tie it up.
At the end of the half, we are tied 14-14. They are hitting us with some big PA passes. Our running game has been very solid. We are mostly stopping their running game, but we are still getting hurt by those PA passes. Our short passing game has been effective.
Unfortunately, we kick off to start the 2nd half.
We have a tough blow to start the 2nd half as Terrell Thomas, our #1 or #2 CB suffers a severe injury that is going to cost him the season! Our weak secondary is getting even thinner. :(
Booty scrambles to his right and hits Washington for a big TD reception to make it 21-14 after we got the ball back.
Late in the 3rd quarter, Booty bruised his ribs running an option and it knocked him out for the rest of the game, bringing Sanchez into the game.
Coleman our backup RB came in for a series late in the 3rd as we were trying to grind down the clock, but he fumbled in their redzone and they recovered.
In the 4th quarter, we were in control until Ting muffed a punt and they recovered deep in our turf.
Pinkard with his second pick of the game in the endzone!!!
Oh my, Sanchez hits Jarrett on a PA pass in which it was a shallow cross, but Jarrett makes a man miss then beats everyone to the endzone for a long TD!!! That puts us up 28-14 with 4:30 left in the game.
We stop them, and then get the ball back and march down the field with our running game eating up the clock.
We win 28-14 :)
Nebraska:
Zac Taylor was 15 of 28 for 248 yards with 2 TD's and 2 INT's.
M. Lucky ran it 19 times for 29 yards as our run defense did much better this game.
Terrence Nunn had 6 receptions for 92 yards including a TD.
N. Swift had 4 catches for 42 yards.
C. McKeon led their defense with 9 tackles.
B. Cryer had their only sack.
C. Grixby had their only interception.
USC:
Booty was 12 of 24 for 187 yards 1 TD 1 INT.
Sanchez creates a QB controversy with 5 of 5 passing for 93 yards 1 TD 0 INT.
Chauncey Washington had 23 carries for 98 yards with 2 TD's. Long of 29.
Brandon Hancock had 4 carries for 29 yards. I really need to give the ball more to our skilled FB.
Sanchez had 3 carries for 12 yards.
Booty had 2 carries for 11 yards.
Colemen our backup HB had 5 carries for 5 yards.
Chauncey Washington led the team with 6 receptions for 80 yards and a TD.
Jarrett had 4 caches for 104 yards and a TD which was that amazing 73 yard play that he made happen all by himself.
Smith had 3 catches for 44 yards.
Ting led us with 7 tackles.
Our MLB Oscar Lua had 5 tackles, all for a loss!
Our All American DE Jackson had our only sack.
Josh Pinkard, the junior, had 2 critical interceptions for us.
Now, I have a decision to make about our QB situation. Do I go with the Freshman Sanchez who played brilliantly in relief? Do I stick with the JR Booty who has waited patiently to lead the team? I'll sleep on it.

The win last week moved us up to #14 this week. Today we travel to play Arizona who are currently 1-2.
Both Kirk and Lee are picking us to win.
I've decided to give Booty one more start to prove that he belongs.
Arizona's offense and defense are both rated quite a bit worse, and we should win by a good margin. There is no reason for Booty to struggle this game.
Eaglesfan27
07-22-2006, 12:00 PM
Adam Austin is having a good drive to start their offense with crisp short passing. However, we stop them about midfield.
We end a quick 6 play drive with a 53 yard bomb to our 4th WR down the middle of the field. Patrick Turner would be a #1 or #2 on most teams in America.
We were in control most of the 1st half, but it was very disappointing when our FB Hancock fumbled it (and they recovered) on the 1 yard line on what should have been a sure TD.
Booty has done well, but I could have screamed when he overthrew Jarrett on a wide open Fly patter down the right sideline in the 2nd quarter.
Fortunately, on the next play Jarrett broke a short curl with a good stiff arm and spin move and took it 42 yards for a TD!! 14-0 with 2 minutes left in the half.
After we get the ball back, Booty throws a pick thwarting our last drive of the half. 14-0 at the half.
Booty is 10 of 13 for 149 yards 2 TD's 1 INT at the half.
Adam Austin is 15 of 27 for 130 yards with 0 TD 1 INT at the half.
End of 3rd quarter, still 14-0. Our offense is having some problems with their defense, but our defense is good.
Booty ran a perfect option play with a late pitch to Washington for a long TD early in the 4th to make it 21-0.
Thanks to two bogus PI calls, they get into our red zone, but on 4th and 2 from the 4, we strip the QB of the ball and stop them short!
Game over. 21-0 win! :)
Key Stats:
USC:
Booty 16 of 21 for 200 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT.
Washington 15 carries for 134 yards 1 TD. Long of 56.
Hancock had 4 carries for 12 yards with a fumble.
Jarrett had 6 catches for 81 yards.
Smith had 3 catches for 41 yards.
Lua led us with 8 tackles, 3 for a loss. Ellis and Moore had 1 sack each.
Ting had 2 picks for us, and was our player of the game. Both were deep in our zone.
Arizona:
Austin was 24 of 44 for 278 yards with 2 INT.
Henry had 16 carries for 28 yards.
Thomas led the team with 5 catches for 72 yards.
Johnson led their team with 7 tackles.
J. Turner had 3 sacks for them.
Tatum had their only pick.

Looking at the number of plays I'm getting per game, I'm going to go up to 10 minute quarters and keep it there for a while.
I'm getting the sense that my right side of my OL is letting me down, so let's look at the OL stats:
After 3 games, LG Jeff Byers leads the team with 13 pancakes. He has allowed 2 sacks.
RT Kyle Williams has 12 pancakes and he has only allowed 1 sack.
LT Sam Baker who is my best rated player has 10 pancakes and has allowed 3 sacks.
RG Chilo Rachal had 6 pancakes and has allowed 1 sack.
Captain and C Ryan Kalil had 6 pancakes and 0 sacks allowed.
Chauncey Washington is credited with allowing 1 sack.
I know I've given up more sacks, so perhaps the rest were considered coverage sacks?

We are now 13th in the polls.
Josh Allen of Maryland was the offensive player of the week after he had 26 carries for 153 yards and 2 TD's as well as 6 receptions for 123 yards and 2 TD's against FIU.
Scott White of Washington was the defensive player of the week after he had 12 tackles 3 for a loss, a sack, and an interception against UCLA in a 42-25 win.
Chris Leak of Florda, Patrick White of WVA, and Brady Quinn of ND are getting the early Heisman Hype.
Today we play at Washington State. We are the pick of all of the experts.
Our offense is currently 110th in the nation. Theirs is 40th.
Our defense is currently 19th. Theirs is 66th.

Coming into the game, their QB Alex Brink is 79-144-about 950 yards-8TD-11 INT.
For the first time this season, our toss play out of the I form works perfectly with great blocking and we break off a 35 yard run. That is the biggest play of a 9 play 56 yard TD drive which ends in a 6 yard pass to Jarrett in the middle of the field.
OUCH. Lawrence Jackson creams the QB and forces a fumble, but as he goes to dive on it, a big OL comes crashing into him and recovers it. Jackson's ribs are badly bruised and he will miss a part of the game.
Our offense just isn't clicking as we exchange multiple failed drives. They finally put together a good drive that gets inside our 5 for a 1st. But, we stop them on 2nd and goal from 3, 3rd and goal from the 2, and then 4 and goal from the 1!
Jason Hill, their star WR, has been keeping their offense moving a fair bit. Towards the end of the half, Ting took him out of the game with a vicious hit.
With 10 seconds left, I was only trying to get into FG range, but they blitzed and Booty hit Smith for a quick slant. He then juked his man and took it 53 yards for a TD!! That made it 14-3 at the half.
Brink is 11 of 22 for 117 yards with an INT at the half.
Booty is 12 of 17 for 143 yards with 2 TD's and 1 INT.
Another short TD pass from Booty to Jarrett starts off a good drive at the beginning of the 3rd period.
A PI call negates an interception and TD return by one of my CB's.
24-3 as we end the 3rd quarter.
Early in the 4th, Lawrence Jackson crushes their HB knocking him out of the game.
After running 6 times in a row, I call a play action pass and Booty hits Jarrett in stride for a 62 yard TD! 31-3.
We get the ball back after a short drive and put together another balanced drive that ends in a TD pass to Davis our TE. 38-3!
We allow a meaningless TD as the game winds down.
Game over. 38-10 win :)
USC:
Booty 24 of 32 for 348 yards 5 TD 1 INT.
Washington 23 carries for 130 yards.
Hancock caught a lateral from a WR which counted as a 39 yard run. He had 4 carries for 43 yards counting that.
Jarrett had 11 catches for 164 yards and 3 TD's.
Smith had 4 catches for 87 yards and a TD.
Davis had 4 catches for 40 yards and a TD.
Oscar Lua led the team with 8 tackels, 4 for a loss.
Jackson had 2 sacks for us.
Ting and Rivers each had a pick.
WSU:
Brink was 16 of 35 for 215 yards with a TD and 2 INT.
Woolridge ran it 20 times for 48 yards.
Bumpus had 5 catches for 85 yards.
Jordan had 3 catches for 50 yards and a TD.
Dildine led the team with 10 tackles.
Mullennix led the team with 2 sacks.
Turner had their only interception.

Counting Special Team plays we had 137 plays run in this game. So, assuming the average college game has 140 which is what has been stated in the main thread, I'll stick with 10 minute quarters.

We are now up to #11 in the polls. Today, we host 4-1 Washington. The experts are all picking us to win.
Their offense is poorly ranked, but their defense is good. I expect that we should be able to hold them to 14 points or less.
Their QB I. Stanback is 78 of 164 for 1072 yards with 13 TD 9 INT.
Their leading rusher, Rankin, has 249 yards on 63 carries with 1 TD.
Their leading receiver has 16 receptions for 246 yards with 2 TD's.
Booty has completed 72 of 118 passes for 1030 yards with 10 TD's 6 INT's.
Washington has 417 yards on 74 carries (5.6 avg) with 4 TD's.
Jarrett has 27 receptions for 466 yards and 7 TD's.

We stop them early, and then strike first with a 43 yard FG. 3-0 lead.
After stopping them, I throw a very short hitch to Jarrett. He jukes the first defender, stiff arms a safety, and runs down the sideline 75 yards for a TD!!!! He has amazing skills. 10-0.
Momentum is going our way at Keith Rivers forces a fumble with a jarring hit on the HB which he then proceeds to recover!
Unfortunately, Booty throws a pick on the 1.
10-0 at the end of 1.
The 2nd quarter is mostly boring with us getting a safety and them getting a FG, until the last minute. Booty directs a masterful 1:20 second drive that went 70 yards in 8 plays ending with a 5 yard HB Screen TD to Washington to make it 19-3 at the half.
Stanback is 3 of 10 for 70 yards with an INT, but he is running the option reasonably well.
Booty is 11 of 18 for 190 yards with 2 TD's and 1 INT.
Booty connects with TE Davis for a 29 yard TD pass on a play action. 26-3.
Early in the 3rd, I risk blitzing 8 and get a quick forced throw as a result which my guy intercepts and returns for a TD! 33-3.
Early in the 4th, Booty directs a great drive mostly through the air, but Washington ends it with a 2 yard TD run to make it 40-6 (they kicked a FG late in the 3rd.)
I'm going to bring in my offensive 2nd team soon.
I left the offense in too long, as Booty throws a pick on our next drive. Not a great day for him.
They hit us with a long bomb (Stanbeck to Williams) to make it 40-13 with 3 minutes left.
Our 2nd team offense doesn't do much, but our defense holds and the offense manages to run off the last minute of the clock.
Game over. 40-13 win.
Passing:
Booty 20 of 31 for 323 yards 3 TD 3 INT.
Sanchez 1 of 4 for 1 yard.
Stanback 8 of 26 for 157 yards 1 TD 2 INT.
Rushing:
Washington 18 carries for 51 yards with 1 TD.
Hancock 3 carries for 21 yards.
Coleman 6 carries for 11 yards with a long of 9. He is a big bruiser, but doesn't get much yardage. I might move him down the depth chart.
Stanback had 4 carries for 32 yards.
Rankin had 23 carries for 4 yards.
Receiving:
Jarrett had 7 catches for 134 yards and 1 TD.
Smith had 4 catches for 45 yards.
Davis had 3 catches for 69 yards and a TD.
Washington had 3 catches for 19 yards and a TD.
For Washington Lewis led them with 3 catches for 53 yards.
Williams had their 1 TD which was his only catch and it went for 58 yards.
Defense:
Ting led our defense with 8 tackles.
4 players had a sack for us.
McCurtis had the interception which he returned for a TD.
Ellison also had an interception.
Bomar led Wash with 8 tackles.
Winter had their only 2 sacks.
White led them with 2 picks.

Excellent news. We had Joe Howard, a guard who is ranked #2 in the country overall and is ranked the #1 guard, at this game as our guest. Joe is from Spring Valley, CA and he was considering us and Washington. Now, he has given us a committment! Joe runs a 5.2 40, benches 470 and squats 690. Our staff thinks he has top tier potential.
That win boosts us to #10 in the polls.
Troy Smith of Ohio State was the offensive player of the week. Against BGSU, he was 16 of 21 for 366 yards and had 6 carries for 52 yards for 6 total TD's.
Tra Battle of Georgia was the defensive player of the week with 3 tackles, 2 FF, 1 FR, and 1 INT.
Dwayne Jarrett is starting to get some Heisman consideration. Brandon Cox has led Auburn to a 6-0 record and he is a highly hyped QB for the Heisman right now. So far, he has completed 123 of 194 passes for 1692 yards and 22 TD's.

Today we host #7 Arizona State while we are currently #10. Most of the experts are picking ASU to win this game. ASU is currently 5-0. If they win this game, they will very likely win the Pac-10. Obviously, this would be a huge win for us.
ASU's offense is 6th in the nation for points scored. Their pass attack is highly prolific and is 11th in the nation. Their run defense is very good and their pass defense is also good. However, I think we have the talent to beat them if we play well.

Their first few plays, their HB was tearing us up, but on their first pass attempt, Jackson sacked the QB forced a fumble, which our DT Moala picked up and ran back 42 yards for a TD!!!! 7-0.
Unfortunately, a few drives later Booty throws a pick from his own 4 which the LB easily returns into the endzone to make it 7-7.
And our KR, Reed, fumbles the kickoff giving them the ball on our 18.
The next play, we force the HB to fumble and Rivers recovers!
We put together a 45 yard drive which ends with a 43 yard FG. 10-7.
A fumbled punt return gives them a short field, and they put together a nice short TD drive to make it 13-10 (we blocked the extra point.)
2nd quarter: ASU leads 13-10.
Most of the 2nd was a defensive battle, surprisingly, but they managed to put together a 68 yard drive which ends in a 4 yard pass for a TD to make it 20-10 with 0:58 left in the half.
We get sacked and fumble it (but recover it) and then get sacked again, and I let time run out on the half.
Halftime: 20-10, ASU leads.
Keller, their QB is 12 of 15 for 151 yards with 1 TD 0 INT.
Booty is 4 of 11 for 66 yards with 1 INT.
They force a 3 and out to start the 2nd half. They are double teaming Jarrett to great effect.
ASU runs it in on their next drive to make it 27-10 :(
Booty fumbles on an option on the next drive. They recover.
A few minutes later they throw another TD pass to make it 34-10.
I decide to bring Sanchez into the game to try to spark my team.
Sanchez moves the team some, but we end up failing to convert 4th and 4 on their 38.
We get a quick stop and then Sanchez directs us on a nice drive which ends with a long TD pass to Smith to make it 34-17. Can we come back? There is 1:40 left in the 3rd.
Oh my, Rivers sacks the QB and strips him. Jeff Schweiger recovers it and runs it in 19 yards for a TD! 34-24 with 12 seconds left in the 3rd!
Wow. Momentum has completely turned, and their HB drops an option pitch deep in their zone. Oscar Lua picks it up and runs it in 14 yards for a TD!!!! 34-31 with 9:30 left in the game.
I'm really wishing we hadn't missed a FG early in the game now.
That reminds me, I'll probably turn kicking power for both the player and the CPU up to 60. My FG kicker has a very good rating but he is short on 45 yard FG's, and this is the 3rd time it has happened despite hitting the meter almost near the top.
Ouch. 6 plays into the game, their HB Herring breaks off a 54 yard TD run in which he just burst through a hole, juked our S, and then took it the distance.
Sanchez drives us most of the way, but then he throws a pick to their safety which probably ends our hopes.
We get the ball back with 5 minutes left, but we fail to convert 4th and 4 on the 50.
We get the ball back quickly, but there is only 3:30 left.
We manage to drive inside the 20. Rather than go for it on 4th and 3. I decide to kick the FG to make it 41-34. Now, the tough decision. My defense has stopped them quickly the last few times. I decide to kick it deep.
They run for minimal gains the first 2 plays, and then don't convert the 3rd and 8. We use all 3 timeouts, but keep 1:30 on the clock as we get the ball back.
We start on our 30.
After some good quick passes and a few spikes, we get onto their 25 with 11 seconds left...
Sanchez throws a pass that is almost intercepted. 7 seconds left. Sanchez is blindsided by a blitzing LB. He fumbles and another LB runs it 73 yards for a TD. Game over. 47-34. We lost a heart breaker and lose our chance at the national title.
Passing:
Sam Keller 22 of 28 for 233 yards 2 TD 0 INT.
Sanchez (in relief) 16 of 27 for 273 yards 1 TD 1 INT.
Booty 4 of 13 for 66 yards 0 TD 1 INT.
Rushing:
K Herring 24-104-3TD's. Long of 49.
Keller had 8 rushes for 2 yards.
Washington had 8 carries for 22 yards. Sanchez had 2 carries for 6 yards.
T. Richardson led them with 8 catches for 82 yards and a TD.
Z. Miller had 6 catches for 52 yards.
Jarrett had 8 catches for 100 yards.
Smith had 4 catches for 89 yards 1 TD. Long of 37.
Davis had 4 catches for 49 yards.
Z. Catanese led them with 7 tackles.
R. James had 3 sacks and a FF.
Lua led us with 11 tackles, 4 for a loss.
Jackson led the team with 2 sacks.

Lawrence Harmon, a C from Hacienda Heights, CA visited this past game. Despite our loss, he has now given us a soft committ. He is ranked #192 overall in the nation, and he is one of the top C prospects. He runs a 5.24, benches 480, and squats 645. He has excellent potential, but poor discipline.
Kenny Irons of Auburn was the Player of the Week. Against UF he ran the ball 13 times for 86 yards and 3 TD's. He also had 5 receptions for 52 yards and 2 TD's.
Eric Morrah of Cal was the defensive player of the week. The Linebacker had 11 tackles, 2 INT's, and 2 FF against WSU in a close 29-26 win.
We have a bye this week. Here are the Pac-10 Standings:
1. Arizona State (6-0, 3-0) now ranked #6
2. USC (4-2, 3-1) now ranked #16.
3. Washington (5-2, 3-1) NR.

Today, we travel to play at Oregon State. They are 5-1 but unranked. We are ranked 15th. We are favored by all of the experts to win this game. However, they have a talented defense and I'm not taking anything for granted. They also have a very good turnover margin while ours is -9.
M. Moore is their leading passer. He has completed 108 of 175 passes for 1233 yards, 8 TD's and 7 INT's. Y. Bernard has 429 yards on 72 carries for a 6.0 avg with 4 TD's. J. Newton is their leading receiver with 15 catches for 302 yards and 3 TD's.

After only scoring 3 points in the first quarter, we put together a strong drive that ends in a 30 yard TD run by Washington to make it 10-3 with 9 minutes left in the 1st half.
After a pair of failed drives, Booty hits Smith in stride for a TD to make it 17-3.
After exchanged failed drives, their speedy HB breaks a long run to make it 17-10 with 2:40 left in the half.
We put together a balanced drive which ends in a sneak from the 1 yard line by Booty for a TD as the half expires. 24-10.
At halftime, Booty is 15 of 23 for 168 yards with a TD, no INT's.
Moore is 5 of 13 for 94 yards with 0 TD's 1 INT.
After multiple exchanged failed drives, we put together a passing drive that ends with a 2 yard run by our FB Hancock for a TD. 31-10.
Pinkard picks off a post to the TE, dodges two men and takes it to the house to make it 38-10!
At the beginning of the 4th, Booty ends a nice drive with a 28 yard TD pass to Jarrett in the corner of the endzone. 45-10.
They put together a very long time consuming drive, but we pick it off in the endzone.
I bring in my 2nd team offense with 3 minutes left and the big lead.
The 3rd play of the drive, Sanchez and Coleman run the option to perfection and Coleman breaks off an 82 yard TD run! 52-10.
Game over. 52-10. We dominated them today, and played to our potential for the first time this year IMO.
Booty 22 of 33 for 290 yards 2 TD's 0 INT's.
Moore 13 of 30 for 186 yards 0 TD 3 INT.
Washington had 21 carries for 109 yards with 1 TD. Long of 30 for us.
Michael Coleman had 8 carries for 97 yards with a TD for us. Long of 81.
Booty had 4 carries for 25 yards for us.
Hancock had 3 carries for 9 yards for us.
Bernard had 21 carries for 93 yards with a TD for Oregon State. His long was a 60 yard carry.
Jarrett had 9 receptions for 124 yards and 1 TD. Long of 27.
Smith had 3 catches for 63 yards with a TD. Long of 28.
Washington had 3 catches for 42 yards with a long of 31.
A. Wheat Brown led Oregon State with 5 catches for 88 yards.
Pinkard led our team with 6 tackles. He led the team with 2 interceptions as well.
Jackson led our team with 2 sacks.
J. LaRocque led their team with 11 tackles. He also led their team with 2 sacks and a FF.

Lawrence Harmon firmed up his committment today and we now have two very good prospects signed. This gives me more time to work on the other guys I've been pursuing as well.
Jeremy Young the QB of Sountern Miss was the Player of the week in an OT game against ECU he was 18 of 42 for 254 yards. However, he also had 19 carries for 100 yards and 7 total TD's.
Korey Raymond a DT from ULL was the Defensive Player of the Week. He had 7 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 FF in a 31-24 win over MTSU.
The top 5 Heisman candidates at this point are:
HB Kenny Irons of Auburn. He has 188 carries for 1334 yards and 14 TD's. He also has 25 receptions for 409 yards and 5 TD's.
Robert Johnson of Texas Tech. HE has 78 receptions for 1174 yards and 11 TD's.
Troy Smith of Ohio State University. He is 169 of 264 for 2076 yards. He also has 97 carries for 629 yards and 32 Total TD's.
Chris Todd of Texas Tech. He is 220 of 348 for 2778 yards. He has 44 carries as well and 34 total TD's.
Brandon Cox of Auburn. He is 183 of 286 for 2434 yards and 24 TD's.

Today we travel to play Stanford. We are ranked 12th with our 5-2 record. Stanford is unranked with a 5-3 record. All of the experts are picking us to win. Their defense is bad, but their QB is putting up some huge numbers this year. Trent Edwards has completed 177 of 277 passed for 2173 yards. He also has 23 TD's and 9 INT's. Evan Moore is his favoorite target with 49 receptions for 821 yards and 7 TD's.
All of the experts are picking us to win.

It's a rainy day today in Palo Alto.
Trent Edwards completed his first 4 passes, but on his 5th attempt Lua tipped it up to himself, picked it off, and ran it back all of the way! 7-0.
After stopping them, I hit Jarrett on a quick hitch, he turns, jukes a man, and beats everyone down the sideline for a long TD!! 14-0.
Midway into the 2nd quarter, Booty hits Hancock on a delayed wheel pattern in stride and he is wide open for a 20 yard TD pass! 21-0.
A few plays later Rivers makes an acrobatic interception and manages to regain his balance and return it 33 yards for a TD. 28-0.
They score a FG with 24 seconds left to make it 28-3.
Reed gets our best Kickoff return of the season to take it to their 30. We have 16 seconds left. Booty hits Jarrett on a corner route for 27 yards before he is pushed out of bounds. I decide to surprise them and try running it with 7 seconds left. Washington goes untouched into the endzone. 35-3 as the 1st half ends.
I find myself questioning if I need to adjust sliders as some people have found it too easy, but then I remember my loss not too long ago. It just seems like Stanford's O-Line is not holding up and we aren't giving their QB much time to throw at all. Their LT and RT are rated between 10 and 15 points below the guys they are trying to block, and their interior is rated even further below the guys they are trying to block. So, it's no wonder we are getting some good pressure and some resulting picks. Other than that, Jarrett is simply too fast and strong for their top CB who is rated 15 points below him. Smith is rated over 10 points above the CB covering him as well. Except for the QB spot, we are outclassing our competition. Even their star WR is only rated 88 which is the same as my top CB who is covering him.
Even with all of that Edwards stats aren't terrible:
Edwards 12 of 24 for 136 yards with 0 TD 2 INT.
Booty is 6 of 11 for 142 yards 2 TD's.
On our first drive of the 2nd half, Booty hits Coleman, the backup HB, for a 3 yard TD pass to make it 42-3.
On 2nd and 6, we hit the TE on an out on a PA call and he uses his extraordinary speed to burn his man for a TD. 49-3. It will be time to bring the 2nd team offense in soon.
Harris intercepts a ball deep in our zone and returns it 74 yards for a TD. 56-3! I guess it will be time to bring in the 2nd team defense in the 4th quarter as well.
We just got our 7th sack on their QB.
They fake punt on 4th and 14 on their 49. They fail. I bring in the 2nd team with 1:31 left in the 3rd.
Wow. Their offense was driving against my 2nd team defense late in the 4th, but McCurtis intercepted a slant on the 3 yard line and took it 97 yards for a TD! 63-3.
Just a few quick key stats as my friend just got here.
Booty 10 of 17 for 249 yards 4 TD's 0 INT.
Edwards 24 of 44 for 258 yards 0 TD 4 INT.
Washington 10 carries for 15 yards.
Jarrett 3 catches for 108 yards and 1 TD.

Thanks in part to Todd's recommendation, I'm using some sliders that are based off the ones he posted from OS. I thought a few things were a bit too far toned down. Specifically, I don't think interceptions have been as excessive as needing to be turned down to 0/25. Here are the sliders I'm using for the rest of the season:
Offense (HUM/CPU)
QB Accuracy - 50/60
Pass Blocking - 60/60
WR Catching - 50/60
RB Ability - 50/60
Run Blocking - 50/60

Knockdowns - 50/50
Interceptions - 40/45
Break Block - 45/45
Tackling - 35/50
Special Teams (HUM/CPU)
FG Power - 60/60
FG Accuracy - 50/25
Punt Power - 50/50
Punt Accuracy - 50/50
Kickoff Power -60/60
Penalties

After the big win, we remain ranked 12th. Today we host Oregon and we have several recruits we've been working on coming to see this game. Oregon is 3-6. We are favored by both Lee and Kirk to win this game.
Oregon's Dennis Dixon is last in the Pac 10 in passing with only 1527 yards. He is 120 of 259 and we should be able to shut down his passing well. He has 15 TD's and 13 INT's. However, he is a very mobile QB who is a potential dangerous runner.
Andre Crenshaw their HB is #2 in the Pac 10 with 880 yards on 132 carries (6.6 avg). He only has 4 TD's despite all of the yardage with a long of 29. Drew Larson is their leading receiver with 38 catches for 560 yards and 4 TD's. He is a true burner who we have to constantly keep an eye on.

Dixon ran well early, but we forced them into a 3rd and 7. They threw a long pass that the receiver caught near the sideline. I challenged the call and on replay he was ruled out of bounds.
Midway through the 1st quarter, I find myself with a solution to the QB dilemma as Booty breaks clearly his wrist on the option. Our trainers think he will miss the rest of the season.
2 plays later Danelo misses a 46 yard FG just barely short.
Very early in the 2nd quarter, Sanchez reads the blitz, throws a quick cross to Jarrett who spins away from a defender and runs to the left corner of the endzone for a 16 yard TD!! 7-0.
Dixon just had a sick run in which he broke 2 tackles to get them a 1st down.
Danelo hits a 41 yard FG as time expires in the half to make it 10-0. Oregon's defense is doing better than I thought they would.
Dixon is 6 of 13 for 58 yards. However, he also has 7 scrambles for 42 yards.
Booty was 4 of 7 for 60 yards.
Sanchez is 8 of 16 for 85 yards and a TD.
Booty is definitely done for the year. His season stats: 128 of 212 for 1958 yards with 19 TD's 10 INT's.
Sanchez fumbles on the 1 as he was attempting to scramble for a TD. They recover. 2 plays later Dixon runs it 28 yards, and then 10 on the next play. Despite my placing a spy on him, he is making some amazing runs.
Dixon runs a beautiful option play for another 8 yard gain after a few other plays and finally gets it into the endzone on a QB Keeper. 10-6, as we block the XP. 1:29 left in the 3rd.
3 plays into our drive Sanchez throws a pick.
Coleman has been running well as the spell HB, but he just fumbled in teh red zone and they recovered.
With 5 minutes left, Sanchez hits Fred Davis in stride on a PA pass where he was wide open to make it 17-6.
Davis has been Sanchez' main target today.
Dixon sprains his wrist on an option run, and we aren't sure if he will return. He has close to 100 yards rushing today, I think.
With 2:46 left, they miss a 48 yard FG.
Washington runs it in from 5 yards out with less than a minute left to make it 24-6. i guess that was a bit unsporting of me.. (at least I didn't use any timeouts.) :)
I have to say these sliders gave a good challenge which is a good thing considering despite their record Oregon wasn't ranked that much below me.
Game over. 24-6 win for us. :)
Dixon 7 of 19 for 68 yards. 14 carries for 111 yards.
Sanchez 18 of 30 for 201 yards 2 TD's 1 INT.
Booty was 4 of 7 for 60 yards.
Crenshaw had 18 carries for 47 yards.
Washington had 24 carries for 103 yards for me and 1 TD.
Sanchez had 7 carries for 49 yards.
Coleman had 8 carries for 35 yards and a fumble.
Hancock had 4 carries for 19 yards.
Finley led them with 4 receptions for 34 yards.
Davis had 9 catches for 100 yards and a TD.
Jarrett had 5 catches for 97 yards and a TD.
Hancok had 3 catches for 25 yards.
Smith only had 1 catch for 14 yards.
Tuitele led them with 11 tackles.
Linehan had their only sack.
Glasper had their only pick.
Lua led my team with 6 tackles, 2 for a loss.
Jackson and 3 others each had a sack.
The game would have been a bigger blowout if our turnover margin wasn't so bad this game. We've had a terrible turnover margin this year.

YES!!! We had 3 recruits at the Oregon game, and 2 of them liked what they saw. We stole Dedrick Burke right away from Texas! Dedrick plays HS in Denton, TX. He is a SS who is ranked 65th in the nation overall and in the top 3 at his position. He is 6'1 196 pounds and he runs a 4.4 40. He also has a great high jump very good hands and excellent awareness according to our scouts. He could be a major contributor to our secondary.
We also got a MLB which we desperately need as Lua will leave this year P.J. McCray is from Altadena, CA and he was considering Cal but chose us instead. He is ranked 67th nationally overall and 2nd at MLB in the nation. He runs a 4.47 and is a compact 5'11 215 pounds. He has decent hands but very good awareness. Our scouts think he has Excellent Growth Potential. They also think he is a very disciplined player.
Our Third Recruit TE Christian Roberts is 64th in the nation and 2nd at his position gave us a soft verbal after the game. Christian runs a 4.73 in the 40. He has good strength and good hands. He has the potential to develop into a very good possession receiver as well as a decent blocker.
After the win, we remain 12th in the nation.
Here are the top 10 in the polls:
1. Oklahoma 10-0
2. Auburn 11-0
3. Lousiville 9-0
4. Penn State 10-1
5. Ohio State 9-2
6. Iowa 10-1
7. West Virginia 8-1
8. ND 8-2
9. Texas Tech 10-1
10. Arizona State 9-1.
Jarrett has been named as a semifinalist for the Best WR award.
C Ryan Kalil has been named a semifinalist for the Rimington Award.
DE Lawrence Jackson has been named a semifinalist for the Lombardi Award.
Troy Smith of Ohio State and Kenny Irons of Auburn are getting most of the Heisman talk right now.
Ryan Cubit of Western Michigan was the offensive player of the week after he threw for over 360 yards and 8 TD's in a 59-35 win over CMU.
Brandon Archer of Kansas State was the defensive player of the week after he had 22 tackles, 3 sacks, and 3 FF against Texas in a 21-14 win!

Today we host Cal in a game that has big implications in the Pac-10 as we still have a slim chance of catching ASU. Also, it is important because our last in season recruit that is still interested in us is visiting the campus today. We missed out on the top HB, Mike Razzano from Kennewick, Washington who committed to Louisville. We also missed out on the top WR in the nation A.J. Pollard from Newport Beach, CA. He surprised everyone by committing to Fresno State. Finally, we missed the top QB in the nation, Matt Temple from Illinois. He committed to Michigan.
Today, we host Matt Allen the top FB in the nation. He is from Apex, NC. Tennessee is our main competition for Matt.
We are favored by both announcers over Cal. Cal is led by Senior QB Steve Levy who has completed 170 of 298 passes for 2133 yards with 24 TD's and 14 INT's.
Marshawn Lynch is one of the best backs in the Pac-10, and he is a true gamebreaker. He has 859 yards on 122 carries and 6 TD's this year.
Levy has added another 269 yards on 73 carries as he has good mobility.
They have 3 WR's who are good but not great. Their #1 receiver statistically is Desean Jacksonm who has 39 catches for 496 yards and 5 TD's. However, he is injured for the season. Lavelle Hawkins has 400 yards and 7 TD's on 34 catches. He and Robert Jordan are the main threats today. TE Craig Stevens is one of the better pass receiving TE's in the Pac-10. Overall, they have the potential to be a dangerous offense.

After exchanging failed drives, Lua blocks a 34 yard FG to keep it 0-0.
Early in the 2nd, I go for it on 4th and goal from the half yard line, but they stop Washington inches short of the TD.
3 plays later, Kevin Ellison intercepts it on the 15.
The next play Sanchez hits Fred Davis in stride on a wheel pattern for a TD. 7-0.
Our next drive, Sanchez throws a bullet for 50 yards to Jarrett in stride to get to the 2. Unfortunately, he throws a pick 2 plays later.
On our next drive, Sanchez fumbles it on their 14 after being sacked rolling out.
Halftime. Surprisingly, both defenses are dominating. Well, our offense is failing to execute in the redzone. 2 Fumbles, 1 turnover on downs all in the redzone. However, our defense, particularly our front 7 has been brilliant.
Levy is 6 of 16 for 58 yards with 1 INT.
Sanchez is 11 of 19 for 151 yards with 1 TD 1 INT.
Lynch only has 29 yards on 11 attempts as we are bottling him up.
Washington has 37 yards on 9 carries for me.
Late in the 3rd, Hancock runs it in from 4 yards out to end a balanced drive. That makes it 17-0 (I hit a 34 yard FG earlier in the quarter.)
Midway through the 4th, Thomas intercepts a hitch on our own 33 and returns it 67 yards for a TD! 24-0.
Our front 7 have gotten amazing pressure on Levy today while preventing him from scrambling too much.
Game over. 24-0. Our offense had some trouble punching it in against this team, but our defense was brilliant.
Levy was 13 of 30 for 107 yards with 2 INT.
Sanchez was 17 of 32 for 273 yards with 1 TD 1 INT.
Lynch had 17 rushes for 59 yards.
Levy had 2 rushes for 9 yards.
Washington had 21 carries for 74 yards.
Hancock had 5 carries for 21 yards and 1 TD.
Sanchez had 7 carries for 10 yards.
Coleman had 5 carries for 21 yards.
Lynch led them with 4 catches for 38 yards.
Jarrett led us with 6 catches for 90 yards.
McFoy, our 3rd WR, had 4 catches for 91 yards including a 35 yard play.
Fred Davis had 3 catches for 55 yards.
Smith had 2 catches for 29 yards.
Morrah led them with 9 tackles. He also led them with 1 sack.
Mixon had their only pick.
Ellison led us with 6 tackles.
Ellis and Lawrence Jackson each had 3 sacks and countless hurries.
Ellison and Thomas had 1 pick each.

Christian Roberts the 6'7 240 pound TE that we have been pursuing just commited to us. We have gotten 5 of our original 12 targets. Not bad. Roberts size and speed for his size will make him a dangerous target for us in the red zone, in particular.
With most of our in-season recruiting wrapped up, we can turn our full attention to the #1 FB in the nation, Allen. He enjoyed his visit, and his coach has informed us that he almost committed to us last week. However, Allen tells us he really likes us, but he really likes Tenn. too.
This upcoming week, we have our biggest challenge (and probably the biggest indicator of whether I need to tighten sliders more as I become adjusted to the game.) ND is ranked 5th in the nation, and our coaches believe this is the 1st team all year that actually has more talent than us. Well, I should say their offense is ranked better than ours by the coaches. Our defense i sranked better than theirs. Overall, we are even. ND's offense is 10th in the nation overall and their passing attack is 3rd in the nation. Brady Quinn has completed 229 of 339 passes for 2765 yards with 32 TD's and 9 INT's.
Darius Walker has 1275 yards on 188 carries and 15 TD's.
Jeff Samardzija has 79 catches for 1061 yards with 13 TD's. Our coaches believe he is the best WR we've faced all year. Rhema McKnight is a top flight WR who has another 63 catches for 682 yards and 8 TD's. Each of their skill position players on offense are among the best in the nation. Furthermore, with the exception of their RT, Brian Mattes, each of their OL are excellent. If Lawrence Jackson can dominate their RT that might be our defense's saving grace. We'll play this game tomorrow, as I'm getting sleepy tonight (long week of work.)

We got the ball first at home, but they stopped us around midfield.
A good punt starts them on their 9.
They cut through our defense like butter, until Rivers blitzed and sacked him on the 10 and forced a fumble which Lua recovered. Quinn completed every pass on the drive.
A. Wooden intercepts our 2nd pass of the drive and returns it 15 yards to our 35. He is covering Jarrett well so far.
On 2nd down, we stop Walker on a toss for a 7 yard loss. This leads to a 53 yard FG attempt which we block!
On the next play, Hancock fumbles the ball inside a LARGE crowd... it bounces free to Jarrett on the right side of the field. He picks it up on our 49 and runs it 51 yards for a TD!!!!! 7-0.
3 plays later Quinn hits Samardjiza on a quick slant, he breaks two tackles and runs it 79 yards for a TD!! 7-7.
They stop us just short of midfield and we punt starting them on their 12.
Quinn completed his first 3 short passes, but I asked Lua to play underneath coverage on Samardjiza and he intercepted a slant meant for him and returned it 32 yards for a TD!!! 14-7.
A few plays later, Darius Walker fumbles it in the middle of our Defense and Ellison picks it up.
Their defense holds up well, and we settle for a 37 yard FG. 17-7.
A holding call kills their drive and they settle for a 35 yard FG attempt which we block. I'm not doing anything special to block FG's.
A holding call brings back a 42 yard TD after they had blitzed almost everyone. Instead, we ended up getting a 4 and 3 from the 36. It is a bit long for my FG kicker, so I go for it, but my silly TE lets it hit his helmet and fall incomplete.
2 plays later, Jackson is in Quinn's face, but Quinn throws it.. right to Thomas who intercepts it and runs it in 32 yards for a TD. 23-7 as my kicker missed the XP!
Quinn goes 8 of 9 on a drive down the field 75 yards in 1:37 with a 17 yard TD to Ford to make it 23-14.
Halftime: 23-14 we lead. They are dominating yardage, while we are dominating turnovers. Without the turnovers, we'd be in deep trouble.
We've gotten 6 turnovers, including 2 fumbles that we recovered, and 2 interceptions.
They have 324 yards of offense. We have 148.
Quinn at the half is 15 of 25 for 306 yards with 2 TD's 2 INT's.
Sanchez is 8 of 17 for 102 yards with 1 INT.
Time to head to the 2nd half...

Jackson gets a sack for us on the 1st play of the 2nd half. Finally, something more than a hurry.
They drive to our 30, before Harris picks off a slant.
We drive to their 20, and get stopped on 3rd and 2. I settle for a 37 yard FG. 26-14.
After stopping them, I try to throw a deep PA pass on 3rd and 1. #18 for ND picks it off.
They get to our 33, where we stop them. They attempt a 50 yard FG that is wide left.
They stop us around midfield and we punt. We down it on the 8.
Early in the 4th, Quinn just went over 400 yards passing.
Lua tips a pass across the middle that Ellison intercepts to end a drive deep in our zone.
They stop us around midfield and we punt it inside the 10 again.
They drive 85 yards inside our 5. We stop them on 3 plays. With 2:47 left, they have no choice but to go for it on 4th and goal from the 4. I have double coverage on Samardzija, but he gets a good pick from one of his men, and gets open across the middle. Quinn guns it in there for a TD. 26-21.
With 2:40 left they kick deep. They've stopped us most of the game.
Sanchez breaks off a 42 yard option keeper run on the 1st play!!!
Washington with 3 runs of 3, 4, and 6 yards to get us a 1st and eat up clock.
Washington with another 3 runs of 3, 4, and 3 yards for another 1st.
We run out the clock on 3rd down with the ball on their 5.
Game over. 26-21 win. Our defense won this one for us today.
I'm going to look at the interception leaders across the nation to see if our guys are disproportionately represented based on their ratings. If so, I might cut down the interception sliders as per Heelsfan's sliders. However, this is the first game where we had a lot of interceptions, but this is one of the first QB's to throw for over 400 yards, to lock in on a receiver, and to throw it 50 plus times..
We won the turnover battle 6-2.
Total offense 508 for ND, 255 for USC.
Quinn was 32 of 51 for 501 yards 3 TD's 4 INT's.
Sanchez was 10 of 23 for 116 yards 0 TD 2 INT's.
Walker only had 16 carries for 42 yards.
Quinn had 3 carries for -8 yards.
Washington had 24 carries for 81 yards.
Sanchez had 3 carries for 53 yards.
Coleman had 5 carries for 14 yards.
Hancock had 3 carries for 12 yards.
McKnight had 12 catches for 158 yards for ND.
Samardzija had 11 catches for 242 yards and 2 TD's for ND. Long of 79.
Walker had 5 catches for 58 yards.
Jarrett had 3 catches for 36 yards.

Landri had their only sack.
Ndukwe and Wooden had their 2 sacks.
Lua led us with 10 tackles, 2 FR.
He also was one of 4 people with a pick.
Jackson was one of 4 players with 1 sack. Jackson had countless hurries as well.

The leading player for interceptions inn the nation is Larry Anam of Boston College with 7. 2 other players are tied with 7.
My leading interceptions guys are Kevin Ellison with 4, Josh Pinkard with 4, and Ryan Ting with 3.
Ellison is rated 85 overall and has 62 catching ability.
Pinkard is rated 90 overall and has 68 catching ability along with great Man Coverage and Zone Coverage abilities.
Ting is rated 90 overall with 71 catching ability and excellent zone coverage.
The top 5 guys in interceptions in the nation all have catching ability below 71.
I decide to lower my own interception rate to 35, but that is where I will leave it for the rest of the year. I think I was just lucky Quinn threw some passes right to my guys while under pressure.

Matt Allen disappointed me by committing to Tennessee today. I guess he wanted to stay closer to home. Oh well, we got 5 guys that we targeted as early recruits. Not too bad.
We are now done in-season recruiting and just need to focus on beating UCLA. We are 9-2. They are 3-8. It should be an easy win on paper, but you never know against UCLA.
First let's look across the nation:
Mark Bonds of Western Michigan won the Player of the Week for 6 TD's on 20 carries and 93 yards in a 52-7 win over the Zips.
Quinton Culberson of Mississippi State won Defensive Player of the Week for a 6 tackles and 3 interceptions against Mississippi in a 28-20 win.
Top 10 of the Top 25 polls:
1. Oklahoma 12-0
2. Louisville 11-0
3. West Virginia 10-1
4. Auburn 11-1
5. Michigan 10-2
6. Texas Tech 11-1
7. Arizona State 11-1
8. USC 9-2
9. Alabama 10-2
10. Iowa 10-2
ND dropped to 13th (from 5th) after the loss to us.
Bowl Projections as of right now:
National Championship: Louisville vs Oklahoma
Fiesta Bowl: West Virginia vs Boise State
Sugar Bowl: Auburn vs USC.
Rose Bowl: Michigan vs Arizona State
Orange Bowl: Georgia Tech vs Texas Tech.
I'll probably play the UCLA game a bit later tonight.

Today we face UCLA on their home field. They are the least talented team we've faced most of the year according to our scouts. Their offense is rated a B- and their defense is a C+. Their offense is 72nd in the nation and their run game is 104th in the nation. Their deense is 48th in the nation. Their turnover margin on the year is -6. Our is plus 1.
Olson their QB has completed 196 of 385 passes for 2539 yards. He has 20 TD's and 21 INT's.
Their HB Markey has 149 carries for 802 yards and 3 TD's.
J. Cowan their leading receiver has 58 catches for 972 yards and 8 TD's.
Like I said, the Battle for the Victory Bell usually surprises even when one team is down..

After exchanging failed drives, UCLA strikes first with a 48 yard FG. 3-0.
On 3rd and 5, McCoy is crushed on a crossing pattern and can't hold onto the ball.
Their FG kicker hits another long FG, 47 yards, to end this drive. 6-0.
End of the 1st.
#37 intercepts it and returns it all the way when Sanchez tries to force it on 3 and 14. 13-0, and momentum is all with UCLA. :(
Sanchez fumbles it when scrambling and they recover. They have it on our 22.
On 3rd and GOAL from the 1, they call a PA pass to get a TD. 20-0.
This cannot stand...
We get a good drive going, but Sanchez overthrows Jarrett on a wide open pattern that would have been a TD. We fail to convert the ensuing 3rd down and we settle for a 30 yard FG. 20-3.
Thanks in big part to a big gain on a screen pass to the HB, they get a 43 yard FG to make it 23-3 with 1:25 left in the half.
With time running out in the half, Sanchez hits Turner for a 4 yard TD pass. 23-10.
Halftime Stats:
We've lost 2 turnovers. They've lost 0.
We each have about 175 yards of total offense.
Sanchez is 15 of 27 for 141 yards 1 TD 1 INT.
Olson is 8 of 17 for 118 yards with a TD.
Our running games is nonexistant. Markey has 61 yards on 13 carries.
Markey is also their top receiver with 3 catches for 45 yards.
We force a 3 and out to start the 2nd. I feel momentum turning our way.
We drive to the 26 but get stopped on 3rd and 10. We make a 43 yard FG. 23-13.
We force another 3 and out.
Oh my, Sanchez hits Turner for a 32 yard TD on 3rd and 14th. 23-20.
Momentum is all ours now.
Late in the 3rd, Sanchez just makes a terrible throw no where near the receiver and they pick it off.
Early in the 4th, they kick a 44 yard FG. 26-20.
Rather than sticking with Coleman as my backup HB as I have all year, I decide to bring Whitney Lewis into the game. He is arguably my fastest HB. It pays off as the 2nd play of the drive he takes a toss and turns the corner and beats everyone for a 66 yard TD!!!! 27-26.
We stop them well short of midfield and get the ball back with 5 minutes left.
Jarrett shocks me by dropping a 3rd down pass. We go 3 and out.
We force a 3 and out.
They force a 3 and out as Washington is just getting stuffed.
With 1:37 and all of their timeouts left, they punt rather than go for 4th and 18.
Rather than run multiple times into their heart, I call a PA pass that gets me a 33 yard gain to my backup TE.
That 1st down allows me to run out the clock with 2 more running plays.
Game over. 27-26 win. Much closer than I expected, but like I said, the Rivalry is always hard to predict. They got momentum early, and they played us tough.
Sanchez 25 of 41 for 289 yards 2 TD's 2 INT's.
Ben Olson 16 of 30 for 185 yards 1 TD 0 INT.
Whitney Lewis had 5 carries for 70 yards.
Sanchez had 7 carries for 42 yards.
Washington had 14 carries for 14 yards.
Markey had 80 yards on 20 carries for UCLA.
Jarrett had 11 catches for 99 yards.
Smith had 4 catches for 45 yards.
Patrick Turner our #4 WR had 3 catches for 51 yards and 2 TD's.
Davis had 2 catches for 42 yards.
Thompson had the 1 catch for 33 yards.
Markey led the Bruins with 5 catches for 58 yards.
Bell was 2nd with 3 catches for 49 yards.
Ting led us with 9 tackles.
Jackson was second with 6 tackles. He had 3 Tackles for a loss and 2 sacks.
C. Taylor led the Bruins with 7 tackkles. T. Brown led them with 1 sack.
J. Hale had one pick and R. Van had the other.
We end our regular season at 10-2. Will we make it into one of the top tier bowl games?

EF27, when you initially set up the inseason recruiting points, did you give points to all 12 guys, or just concentrate on 8 or so?
Actually, I generally pick my top 6 and just give them the points. Or at most I give the 7th and 8th guy 5 points and if they don't respond to that in the 1st week, I drop them to 0.
Eaglesfan27
07-29-2006, 10:38 PM
In this case though, the WR and HB were two of my top guys and once I saw them not responding, I dropped them to 0 and put two of the other guys at the top of my point list.

Today, we play Georgia in the New Orleans Superdome in the Sugar Bowl. Lee is picking Georgia to win while Kirk is picking us.
Georgia's offense has been decent, but not great. Their pass offense is 59th in the nation while their run offense is 24th. Their defense has been excellent. Theri run defense is 14th allowing only 1194 yards all year. Their pass defense is 32nd. Their turnover differential is plus 22 which is 6th in the nation.
All 3 of their top QB's have seen a bit of action this year. Joe Tereshinski has almost 1000 yards passing on 78 of 149 passing with 13 TD's and 3 INT's. Blake Barnes has completed 115 of 222 passes for 1484 yards with 16 TD's and 10 INT's.

WOW. The Superdome looks GREAT on the 360. Just like the real dome. :)
The 1st play of the game, I try to catch them off guard with a PA pass. Well, Sachez underthrows it and Flowers returns it 43 yards for a TD. OUCH. 7-0.
Next play, Sanchez hits Washington in stride on a late release and he breaks a move for a 68 yard gain! 2 plays later Washington runs it in from 3 yards out. 7-7. This is an unexpected quick scoring game.
Not too surprisingly, Tereshinski is starting. On their 3rd offensive play, the FB fumbles it and Ellison recovers for us!
Their defense holds. We have a poor put and they start at their 28.
Brown with a run of 6, 1, and 2.5 yards leads to a punt.
Jarrett catches 4 passes on our next drive for a total of 72 yards including a 12 yarder for a TD. Jarrett had over 50 YAC on this drive. 14-7.
The 1st play is a PA pass for 18 yards. Then, Brown runs it for 10 and he knocks our Safety Ellison out of the game.
Brown fumbles it the next carry, but he picks it up himself and runs it for 2 yards.
A PI call gets them another 15 yards.
A few plays later, Jackson stops Brown on 3rd and 1. They kick the short FG. 14-10.
They force a 3 and out after stopping me inches short of the 1st.
1st play Tereshinski hits Massaquoi in stride after faking the handoff to Brown. 72 yard TD. 17-14.
After exchanging failed drives, we go back to Jarrett a lot. However, Coleman is the one who pounds it in from the 1. 21-17.
They drive to our 25 with a balanced attack. Then we get two sacks and force a 55 yard FG attempt which they barely make. 21-20.
Reed with my first ever kickoff return in this game!!! 28-20! Reed returned it 96 yards thanks to great blocking that left the right side of the field wide open!
Without worrying about the run, I easily stop the passing 3 plays in a row. They punt and we get it on our 40 with 24 seconds left in the half.
They sack my QB on 2nd down and I just the time run out.
Halftime. 28-20.
Halftime stats:
Tereshinski is 11 of 14 for 191 yards 1 TD 0 INT.
Sachez is 11 of 19 for 219 yards 1 TD 1 INT.
Brown has 10 carries for 44 yards.
Washington has 7 carries for 21 yards.
Brown is the leading receiver with 4 catches for 48 yards.
Jarrett has 7 catches for 124 yards and a TD at the half.
Brown also has 4 KR's for 91 yards.
28-20. Unfortuately, I kick off to them to start the 2nd half....

1st play of the 2nd half. Jackson sacks Tereshinski and recovers it and runs it to the 10!
3 plays later, Washington runs it in on 4th and inches. 35-20.
They are starting to abandon the run, and I'm back to playing a 7 man front. Pinkard jumps an out and runs it back 22 yards for a TD. 42-20.
Will Harris intercepts the ball 4 plays into their next drive as the QB just overthrows his man. Unfortunately, on the return he is FLATTENED by an OL and breaks his wrist. He is out for the game and a good long time. We are getting dangerously thin in the secondary.
Danelo doesn't make a 45 yard FG attempt.
They start using Brown again, and they move the ball inside our 10. We stop them there and they kick the short FG. 42-23.
With 6:30 left in the game, we punt and pin them inside the 3. On 3rd and 8 we blitz and get a safety. 44-23.
Ting fumbles a punt return and they pick it up and run it in to make it 44-30 with 3:30 left in the game.
We recover the onside kick. We run it to about the 20, before they stop us. We kick the FG to make it 47-30.
Tereshinski gets Raley on a quick slant, ad he breaks a tackle and goes 79 yards for a TD. 47-37.
We recover the onside, run 3 plays, make them use their timeouts, and then pin them inside the 5 with a punt.
McCurtis jumps a slant on the 3rd play of their drive and returns it 32 yards for a TD. 54-37.
Game over. 54-37 win for us.
Tereshinski 22 of 33 for 392 yards 2 TD 3 INT's.
Sanchez 17 of 30 for 226 yards 1 TD 1 INT.

The following players are leaving for the Pro Draft:
First those graduating having used up all of the their eligibility:
WR Steve Smith - Rated 96, had a poor year.
C Ryan Kalil - Rated 96
LOLB Dallas Sartz - Rated 94.
FB Brandon Hancock - Rated 93.
MLB Oscar Lua Rated 93.
SS Ryan Ting Rated 90.
RT Kyle Williams Rated 89.
FS Brandon Ting rated 88.
HB Hershel Dennis rated 87.
#3 WR Chris McFoy rated 86.
DT Travis Tofi rated 86.
Backup FB Ryan Powfrell rated 86.
LE Rashaad Goodrum rated 80.
Players that are likely to leave early:
RG Chilop Rachal rated 82.
WR Jarrett now rated 98. If there is a chance of convincing him, I'll make the effort to do so, most likely. Actually, now is when I can try to convince him. He is leaning pretty heavily towards going, and it seems like a long shot at best. I let him go...
LT Sam Baker rated 97.
LE Lawrence Jackson rated 96.
All of the players seem quite intent on going, I let them go. Big talent hit this year from graduation and early declarations. For the first time ever, I'm going to save my graduation classes and import them into Madden. If Madden is good, I'll do an Eagles Mini-Dynasty/Dynasty when I get it for the 360 and also follow my USC graduates who make it to the pros.

No one requested to transfer to us. Now, it's time for recruiting. I'm just going to give a blurb about each of the recruits we get..
In week 1, I recruit exclusively in CA, our pipeline state and cheapest state to recruit since we need to replace so many guys.
In the 1st week, we get Michael Riley, a 6'6 251 pound 5 star TE. We also get Jeremy Simmons, a 6'1 166 pound 4 star WR.
Michael is the 30th ranked recruit in the country and is even better than Watkins who we signed earlier. He is from Concord, CA. He runs a 4.49 in the 40 and benches almost 400 pounds. He also has excellent hands. He will be a great replacement when Fred Davis goes pro, and he might even become our #2 TE immediately and play in our 2 TE sets.
Jeremy is ranked 310th in the nation. He runs a 4.41 40. He has a 41" vertical jump and outstanding hands. He played in Burbank, CA.
In week 2, we got Mike Brooks to sign with us. He is a 6'5 191 pound 3 star athlete who will most likely play WR for us. He is from El Cajon, CA. He runs a 4.44 40. He benches over 300 pounds and squats almost 500 pounds. He has a 40.4" high jump and he has very good hands.
Jared Hayes the top remaining QB in the nation that I was recruiting, just signed with ASU! :(
Derrick Webb, the top DT that I was pursuing just chose Nebraska.
Wallace Spinner, the top LE, I was pursuing just choise Boise State!
Jerome Potts, the top RT in the nation, chose Georgia over me.
SS Jamaal McFadden, one of the top in the nation, also chose Georgia over me.
Derrick Shaw, a very fast HB, chose Washington over us.
I'd definitely agree with those that say recruiting is tougher this year than past versions (and that is a good thing, even though it is frustrating right this second.)

In week 3, we did a bit better.
We got Edward Porter, a 6'5 199 pound 4 star S/Athlete. We also signed John Seward, a 5'11 201 pounds 3 star FB. Finally, we got David Tuiasosopo, a 6'0 228 pound 3 star MLB.
Edward was ranked 60th in the nation overall. He runs a 4'32 in the 40. He benches over 370 pounds and squats over 500 poinds. He has good hands and good field awareness. He is from Santee, CA.
John is ranked 354th in the nation. He runs a 4.60 in the 40. He benches almost 400 pounds and squats over 600. He has good hands and good field awareness, but he was really a signing of desperation because our scouts don't think he will get much better. However, we need a backup FB and he is much better than what we would get via a walk on. He is from Novato, CA.
David is ranked 412th overall in the nation. He runs a 4.55 40. He squats over 700 pounds. He has poor hands, but is a ferocious hitter. He also fills a definite need for a backup. He is from Beverly Hills, CA.
Week 4 was a good week.
Jeff Nicholson, a 5'10 189lb 4 star WR signed with us. Paul Guillory, a 5'11 205 pound 4 star MLB signed with us. Donnie Dean, a 6'1 180 pound 3 star WR also signed with us.
Jeff Nicholson is from Westminster, CA. He runs a 4.44 in the 40. He has a 40" vertical and very good hands. He is ranked 237th in the nation.
Paul is ranked 189th in the nation. He is from Florence-Graham, CA. He runs a 4.51 in the 40. He squats almost 700 pounds. He has decent hands and is a hard tackler.
Donniue Dean is ranked 382nd in the nation. He is from Turlock, CA. He runs a 4.28 in the 40. He has excellent hands too, but needs to work on his field awareness.
Most of my other targets went to other teams, and I still have 11 scholarships available..

In week 5, we got Tommy Carrington a 4 star FS who is 5'11 191 pounds to sign. Overall, not a very good recruiting season. Tommy is ranked 226th in the nation. He runs a 4.52 in the 40. He has very good hands.
So to summarize our class, we got a 5 star RG, a 5 star TE, 2 4 star FS's, 1 4 star SS/Athlete, 1 4 star TE, 2 4 star MLB's, 2 4 star WR's, 1 4 star C, 2 3 star WR's, 1 3 star FB, and 1 3 star MLB. We did really well at a few positions and struck out at HB and QB where we were already loaded.. I think the recruiting is better at least from this small sample size...
Ranking the top 20 classes:
1. Oklahoma: 3-11-7-1-0.

Oklahoma got the #3, #5, #17, #47, #62, and quite a few other sub 100 players! Their top recruit is #3 C M. Nichols and #5 FS A. Willis. They also got a lot of stars along both lines.
Actually, here is a quick look at the top 10 players in the nation and where they went:

I'm looking over my roster now. It's no wonder, no HB's wanted to join us, we have 7 of them. We also have 4 QB's that are all good.
One of our athletes, Mike Brooks has a really good arm, and we don't need another WR or FS which are his two best positions. So, I'm going to try him at QB! He could be a lethal option QB and scrambler. I'll certainly RS him this year, and see if he can learn the position.
Our other Athlete, Edward Porter, will slide from FS to SS and likely play some this year. If he does well in the spring, he could even win the starting job.

Sanchez looked really good in spring training while Booty has only taken small strides. Will I go with the Sophomore Sanchez or the SR Booty? I'm not sure yet, but I'm leaning towards Sanchez.
Other plays that really impressed in Spring Training:
Fred Davis. Our TE looks like he is ready to be a HUGE part of our offense. Patrick Turner also really impressed. He moves up from our #4 to #1 WR due to our top 3 leaving, but he looks ready for the role. Most of our secondary looks much better. Our O-Line looks like it is going to be the weakest link this year.
I redshirted quite a few of the recent recruits.
I've decided Sanchez will start at QB this year. Booty will be the #2 backup. The speedy Garrett Green will be our #3 QB and might come in if we need a different look.
Washington will remain our #1 back. He is a reliable North South guy. Desmond Reed has worked hard and he will be our #2 HB. He is our most elusive running back and he is among the fastest. Coleman drops to #4 on the depth chart. Stafon Johnson is a redshirt freshman who has good elusiveness and excellent N-S ability. He could take over the #1 spot next year.
Senior Jody Adewale is a very good FB who is almost as good as what we had last year. However, he isn't as good at breaking tackles. But, he is a decent receiving back and a good blocking back. Freshman John Seward will back him up.
Junior Patrick Turner will be our #1 WR. He doesn't have elite speed, but he is a 6'5 215 pound WR who can break some tackles and he has reliable hands. However, there is no doubt he isn't as good as Jarrett or Smith. He is a remarkable leaper however. Donnie Dean our Freshman surprises everyone by showing some good hands in spring training. Furthermore, he is the fastest man on our team and one of the fastest if not the fastest in the country. He will be our #2 receiver. The biggest worry is his lack of strength. Vidal Hazelton is a very good #3 receiver who could have been #2 if I wasn't in love with Dean's speed. Vidal is very elusive, has very good speed himself, and good hands. David Ausberry is our #4. He doesn't have great speed, but he does have very good hands. Jamere Holland another redshirt Freshman is our #5. He has elite speed too, but needs to work on his hands a bit more.
Fred Davis is our unquestioned #1 TE. WR speed with good size (6'4 247) and good hands. Senior Jimmy Miller is our #2 guy. He also has very good speed and decent hands. He is a solid blocker as well.
LT is a position of weakness this year with the untested Jeff Tola manning the position. He is as strong as they come, but needs work on his technique. However, he is probably as good as most LT's in the Pac-10. Our failure to get a backup this offseason is my biggest regret. Our backup LG Drew Radovich will back him up and that is a big drop in quality.
Jeff Byers is an All American LG and is the anchor of our OL. He is among the best there is at the position.
Troy Draper will start at C. He is good, but unproven. Our freshman, Lawrence Harmon will back him up and he is not ready to play extended minutes.
Star Freshman Joe Howard will start at RG from day 1. He is strong and has good technique. He needs to prove himself on this level though.
Sophomore RT Charles Brown will start at RT. This is the position that worries me the most. Charles is undersized and only has decent technique. We must strengthen our T position this year via recruiting.
SR Alex Morrow takes over for Lawrence Jackson at LE. He is good, but nowhere near the superstar that Jackson was.
Jeff Schweiger remains at RE and he is a very solid player who is just below the elite tier. Kyle Moore is a huge DE who is a solid backup to him.
Sedrick Ellis is the backbone of our DL. He is an elite DT with strength, tackling ability, and great pass rushing ability. He has size, speed, strength. He has it all.
Fili Moala moves from kick blocking specialist to #2 DT. HE has excellent size (6'4 302) and very good strength at the point of attack.
We have great depth at DT with Lawrence Miles and Chris Barrett. So much so, that I considered trying to convert one to an OT position.
Thomas Williams steps into our LOLB role. He is fast and a sure tackler, but he doesn't have the pass coverage abilities of his predecesor.
Rey Maualuga moves into the starting MLB role. Not as talented as LUA, but he has good size (6'3 252), strength, speed, and is a hard hitter. He also has good hands, but is not as good as I would like in coverage. David Tuiasosopo will back him up as I redshirted the other freshman MLB's.
Keith Rivers didn't go pro, and I'm quite thankful for that. The SR ROLB is our Superstar in the linebacking corpse. He is fast, he is a very good tackler, He has good hands and he is an extraordinary blitzer. He is also good in coverage. All-American potential for sure.
Our CB's are better than last year. Josh Pinkard has improved and is now one of the best in the nation. Cary Harris has edged Terrell Thomas as the #2 guy. Terrell makes a very good #3 CB. Kevin Thomas is a very good #4 CB and is almost as good as Cary Harris. Great depth and a shut down CB make me feel very good about this unit.
Kevin Ellison had a good year last year, but didn't improve much. He is good, just not great. FS Redshirt Antwine Perez almost passed him on the depth chart in spring training and he has the potential to be a great FS and he has better speed than Ellison. I wouldn't be surprised if Perez gets some first team action by the end of the year.
SS Will Harris is a JR and he is barely holding onto his position. He is the weakest link in oiur secondary, and star Freshman Edward Porter is coming up fast on his heels. Porter has better speed, better strength, better hands, better moves with the ball, but he is not quite as good at tackling. He also has lower awareness and is not as good in pass coverage. I may let Porter do some KR this year.
Mario Danelo remains our Kicker. He has good, but not great power. His longest range is about 45 yards.
Taylor Odegard has improved as a punter and will remain our punter this year.

Wow. Sanchez underthrows Davis on a deep pass late in the 1st quarter and they intercept it and return it to make it 6-0. We block the XP and return it the distance for a safety to make it 6-2!
I definitely think there are a few too many blocked kicks, but that is better than NEVER blocking a kick.
Our offensive line is giving me very little time right now.
After exchanging failed drives, I start looking deep more. Hazelton burns his man and Sanchez hits him in stride for a 72 yard TD. 9-6.
Why didn't I make Whitney Lewis my primary PR last year? He is destroying Idaho. A great punt return gives us a short field and two plays later Washington runs it in from the 5. Davis also had a catch for 22 yards on the short drive. 16-6.
Wow. Either my defense isn't as good as I thought, or their offense is better than I thought.
Martin hits Heacock on a deep cross and my SS hits him but doesn't wrap up and he bounces off for a 44 yard TD. 16-13. They also were nailing us with short stuff to get across midfield.
My star freshman Porter, takes the kickoff, runs into a crease, stiff arms one guy, jukes the last defender and goes 98 yards for a TD!!! 23-13.
A few drives later, Sanchez throws a lame pass on an out and they pick it off and return it to inside the 10.
Cary Harris picks off a slant and saves the TD.
Next play, Sanchez hits Dean on a quick hitch, he jukes his man and get a 40 yard gain.
Next play, Sanchez overthrows an option pitch and they recover!
23-13 at the half. I'm surprised we aren't winning by more.
Halftime Stats:
M. Martin of Idado is 11 of 20 for 102 yards with a TD and an INT.
Sanchez is 7 of 15 for 159 yards 1 TD 2 INT's.
We get the ball to start the 2nd half.
Sanchez gets PERFECT blocking on an option keeper and he goes 42 yards untouched down the left side of the field. Great blocking from my freshman WR. 30-13.
Danelo hits a 40 yard FG to make it 33-13 as the 3rd is winding down. Our OL is definitely letting this average to below average team get too much pressure on Sanchez.
Pinkard picks off a little hitch route. However, he picks up an injury on the play. Fortunately, it is not too serious.
Patrick Turner gets called for a clip that negates a 42 yard screen to Reed.
3 plays later Reed takes a quick toss, turns the corner and runs it 35 yards for a TD! 40-13.
Danelo hits it wide left with 8:30 left in the game from 45 yards out.
They make it 40-20 with 5 minutes left and then their hit an onside kick that bounces off my guy's chest into their arms to recover.
We force a 4 and out.
I bring in my second team offense except I bring Green in at QB to utilize his speed.
We drive down the field in 3 minutes and score a TD with 30 seconds left. 47-20.
Game over. 47-20 win for us.
Key Stats:
M. Martin 21 of 40 for 207 yards 2 TD's 2 INT's.
Sanchez 14 of 24 for 236 yards 1 TD 2 INT's.
Garrett Green 1 of 1 for 14 yards.
J. Bird, their star HB, had 21 carries for 25 yards.
Reed had 88 yards on 8 carries for me with 2 TD's.
Washington had 13 carries for 54 yards and 1 TD.
Sanchez had 6 carries for 45 yards and a TD.
Green had 3 carries for 20 yards.
D. Belton led them with 4 catches for 45 yards and a TD
Fred Davis led us with 5 catches for 73 yards.
D. Dean had 3 catches for 55 yards in his debut for us.
Hazelton had 2 catches for 82 yards and a TD. Long of 72.
D. Vobora led them with 9 tackles, 3 for a loss. They had 4 players each get a sack.
R. Jones and J. Wright each had a pick for them.
Keith Rivers led us with 9 tackles, 3 for a loss.
Ray Maualuga had our only sack on them.
Cary Harris and Josh Pinkard each had a pick.
Porter had 3 Kickoff returns for 118 yards and a TD.
Whitney Lewis had 6 PR for 60 yards with a long of 18.
I think our return game is going to be much more dangerous this year.

Brian White of Colorado was the Player of the Week with 19 of 35 passing for 418 yards and 6 TD's against Clemson for a 52-13 win.
Lewis Baker of Oklahoma was the defensive player of the game for 9 tackles, 2 for a loss, 2 sacks, 2 Interceptions, and a FR in a 52-7 win against a Division 2 school.

Today we travel to face a ND team that surprisingly lost to Georgia Tech 27-6 in their first game this season. Their replacement for Brady Quinn, David Wolke suffered against GT with a 14 for 40 game for 135 yards and 2 Interceptions. Hopefully, we can make him do as badly again this week. Thanks to GT jumping ahead early, Darius Walker only got 8 carries for 52 yards last week. Their receiving corp is MUCH less dangerous this year. Defensively, they are still quite good this year. Lee thinks we will win while Kirk is picking ND.

We capitalize on an early fumble by Walker by putting together a balanced 60 yard drive which ends in a 6 yard TD pass from Sanchez to Miller our 2nd TE in a 2 TE set.
Rivers forces a fumble with a nasty blindside hit on the QB and Morrow recovers. We put together a really great balanced drive which ends in a TD pass to Davis to make it 14-0 at the end of the 1st quarter.
They come back with a 63 yard 10 play drive that we stop just outside the 10. They kick a short FG. 14-3.
I knew our return game was going to be more dangerous. Whitney Lewis just found a tiny little crease and took it 87 yards for a TD. 21-3.
On the next kickoff return, Porter just CRUSHED D.J. Hord arguably their #1 WR and broke his clavicle. He is out for most of the season.
Porter is making a name for himself on special teams.. could get some more PT at safety soon.
3 plays later Pinkard picks off a slant.
Unfortunately, they force a 3 and out.
After several exchanged failed drives, Thomas intercepts it on their 25. We put together a 7 play 25 yard drive that ends in a 2 yard TD by Washington. 28-3.
Halftime: 28-3.
Sanchez is 12 of 15 for 92 yards 2 TD's 0 INT's.
Wolke is 9 of 20 for 119 yards with 0 TD's 2 INT's.
Sanchez also has 10 carries for 44 yards.
Walker has 10 carries for 47 yards.
Early in the 2nd half, Sanchez throws a pick on an out and the corner back returns it all the way, but it is called back for holding (the interception stands, but now they are on their own 13.)
Pinkard is shutting down his side of the field. Just great pass coverage.
Cary Harris with a pick on a zone blitz that confused the QB.
Danelo just misses a 45 yard FG attempt.
I stop them on 4th and inches on my 2 as the 3rd quarter ends.
We put together a 11 play 98 yard drive that ends in a 27 yard strike to Washington in the back of the endzone. 35-3.
Time to put the 2nd team offense and Garrett in to start the next drive.
Game over. 35-3 win. :)
Key Stats:
Sanchez 20 of 27 for 255 yards 3 TD's 1 INT.
Garrett Green 2 of 3 for 38 yards.
Wolke, ND 17 of 35 for 221 yards 0 TD 3 INT.
Sanchez led the team with 12 carries for 69 yards.
Washington had 15 carries for 37 yards and a TD.
Darius Walker had 18 carries for 71 yards.
Hazelton led our team with 6 catches for 91 yards.
Turner had 5 catches for 73 yards.
Dean our true Freshman burner had 4 catches for 68 yards, including a 40 yard reception.
Davis had 3 catches for 20 yards and a TD.
Darius Walker led ND with 4 catches for 44 yards.
D. Grimes also had 4 catches for 42 yards.
Yhomas led our defense with 7 tackles.
Schweiger had our only sack of the day.
Harris, Pinkard, and Thomas each had a pick.
A. Banda led ND with 9 tackles.
J. Brown led them with 2 sacks.
M. Crum had their only pick.
Whitney Lewis had 2 KR for 104 yards and a TD.

Jamaal Charles of Texas was the offensive player of the week after he had 15 carries for 92 yards and 4 catches for 123 yards and 2 TD's in a 52-14 win over Rice.
Chenry Lewis of Rutgers was the defensive player of the week after he had 16 tackles, 8 for a loss, and 3 sacks in a 38-16 win against Navy.
Chris Todd, the QB of Texas Tech, and Ted Ginn are getting the early Heisman Hype.
This upcoming week, we travel to Nebraska for the 2nd part of the Home and Away. Nebraska has one of their most talented teams in years. Their offensive is very good and their defense is even better.
Harrison Neck has been great, completing 35 of 65 for 585 yards 6 TD's 1 INT. But, those 2 wins were against much weaker teams.
Marlon Lucky has 312 yards in 2 starts on 44 carries.
They have a trio of very good WR's and each already has 2 TD's. J.B. Phillips is a very talented TE who has 5 catches for 103 yards already.
Steve Octavien anchors a great linebacking corp that has speed, power, and great technique.
However, all of the experts are picking us to win, which isn't surprising since we are ranked #2 in both polls now.

They force a 3 and out, and then they drive down the field for a FG. 3-0.
Our 2nd drive fails.
A zone blitz confuses the QB on their next drive, and Cary Harris intercepts it.
A long pass to Patrick Turner leads to a short TD run a few plays later. 7-3.
We stop them, then Sanchez throws a long pick to Green.
Pinkard with a pick a few plays later. Pinkard with great coverage this year.
Washington with a fumble in traffic gives it right back to them.
We stop them and then on our first play, a PA pass, hit Turner for a LONG pass.
A few plays later, Washington runs it in again. 14-3.
Pinkard with another pick on a crossing route where he got inside the receiver.
After another big reception by Turner (this time with a big YAC), Washington runs it in again. 21-3.
A few exchanged failed drives, before we drive inside their 5 but have to settle for a short FG. 24-3 as the half only has 50 seconds left.
Porter forces a fumble on the kickoff return which Ausberry picks up and runs in for a TD. 31-3!
Halftime: 31-3.
Sanchez 8 of 15 for 162 yards 0 TD 1 INT.
H. Beck 9 of 22 for 115 yards 3 INT's.
Washington has 14 carries for 82 yards.
Lucky has 12 carries for 54 yards.
I'm almost certainly moving up to Heisman defaults after this game.
Maulauga with a pick on a short slant. Great acrobatic interception.
Sanchez hits Turner on a leaping fade route (Turner is 6'5") on the 1st play. 27 yard TD pass. 38-3.
Turner fumbles after catching the ball deep in our own zone and they recover.
Despite the short field, our defense holds them to a FG. 38-6.
Williams with a great leap to get another pick for us (after we failed to execute a drive.)
A few plays later Washington picks up his 4th rushing TD of the day! 45-6.
45-6 end of 3.
They put together a nice drive and make it 45-13.
Whitney Lewis fumbles the kickoff and they recover.
We exchange a few more drives.
Game over. 52-16.
Sanchez 11 of 22 for 203 yards 1 TD 1 INT.
H. Beck 23 of 41 for 283 yards 1 TD 5 INT's!
Washington 19 carries for 129 yards and 4 TD's.
Garrett Green 2 carries for 63 yards and a TD.
Sanchez 7 carries for 37 yards.
Lucky had 21 carries for 78 yards.
Turner had 7 catches for 170 yards and a TD.
Washington had 2 catches for 21 yards.
T. Lawson led them with 6 catches for 67 yards.
T. Nunn also had 6 catches for 63 yards.
N. Swift had 4 catches for 94 yards.
Maualuga led our team with 9 tackles, 2 for a loss.
T. Williams led us with 2 sacks.
Pinkard led the team with 2 picks.
S. Octavien led them with 8 tackles, 2 for a loss, and a forced fumble.
T. Green had their only pick.
E. Porter had 1 kick return for us today for 44 yards.
Whitney had 4 PR's for 52 yards.
This game sealed it. This was a relatively close in talent team, and since I demolished them and have been getting better, I'm going to Heisman defaults except for a higher kick power for both teams.

Marcus Ball of Florida State won the defensive player of the week award for 10 tackles, 4 for a loss, 2 sacks, 2 interceptions, and a FF in a 31-23 win over Boston College.
During my bye week, week 5, Darius Walker of ND won offensive player of the week after carrying the ball 28 times for 212 yards and 6 TD's in a 45-29 win over MSU.
Lamar Morgan of UL-Lafayette won defensive player of the week after he had 3 interceptions against Kansas State University in a 30-13 win.

Ok, first game on Heisman is against a team we should beat easily. We host Washington State. Their offense and defense are both B- in talent while my offense is a B+ and my defense is an A+. Statistically, my offense is 67th in the nation. Their offense is 60th. My defense is 19th. Theirs is 81st. Their QB A. Brink is 43 of 65 for 652 yards with 7 TD's and 6 INT's. Their HB D. Woolridge leads the team with 246 yards on 43 carries with 1 TD. Their WR L. Bursey is dangerous and has 25 catches for 343 yards and 4 TD's. They are 1-2. We are still ranked #2 in the nation with our 3-0 record.

Our first drive went well until a clipping forced us into a 2nd and 25. They forced a punt just inside their half of the field.
Thanks to a big HB screen and a quick hitch that their WR broke for a long gain, they score first. 7-0.
Brink hit Gibson for the 29 yard TD pass.
We exchange 3 and outs.
Danelo tries a 48 yard FG that is barely short (I lengthed the kick power to 60.)
They proceed to put together a balanced drive which ends in a 7 yard TD pass to their star WR. 15-0 (we blocked the XP but they picked it up and ran it in!)
A quick pass to a Hazelton counters an all out blitz and leads to a 68 yard TD pass! 15-7.
We stop them short of midfield and force the punt.
They stop us on the 5 and we settle for a short FG. 15-10.
We stop them on their own 40 and they punt as the half is winding down.
However, we run a masterful :50 second drive that ends in an 18 yard TD pass to Hazelton! 17-15 with 9 seconds left.
Halftime: 17-15 lead.
Halftime Stats:
Brink is 10 of 16 for 161 yards with 2 TD's 0 INT's.
Sanchez is 14 of 23 for 266 yards 2 TD's 0 INT's.
Woolridge has 10 carries for 33 yards.
Washington has 11 carries for 14 yards.
Sanchez has 2 carries for 10 yards.
In review, Washington State's offense probably shouldn't be rated a B-. Their QB is rated 91 and has a gun of an arm and good mobility. Their top two WR's both are rated 89. They are being smart and are staying away from Pinkard and are working my two weaker CB's Cary Harris and Thomas who are rated 86 each.
We stop them around midfield on their first drive.
Our 2nd play of the half, Dean burns his man and we connect on a 40 yard pass.
We drive inside the 10, but get stopped their. Short FG makes it 20-15 our lead.
Cary Harris misses another tackle on the 4th play of their drive, and it leads to another long TD for Gibson. That is Gibson's 3rd TD reception today. They throw the 2 point conversion to take a 23-20 lead.
Sanchez gets crushed on an option pitch and he dislocates his elbow. That could be his season.
Booty connects on his 1st pass in the game.
Danelo hits a 42 yard FG to make it 23-23.
Cary Harris forces the HB to fumble and Ellis recovers on our 18.
On a PA pass, Booty hits Dean in stride on a deep cross and he pulls away from the defense for a 67 yard TD!!! 30-23.
We force a 3 and out.
Whitney Lewis with a 30 plus yard Punt Return.
Reed fumbles inside the 5 after catching the ball and getting hit immediately.
We FINALLY get good pressure on Brink (despite their lower rated O-Line) and he throws with a guy in his face. It ends up being an errant pass which Rivers picks off and runs back 40 yards for a TD! 37-23.
We force a 3 and out.
3 plays later Booty hits Reed in stride on a wheel pattern for a 38 yard TD. Reed made two guys miss on the run after the catch.
We force a turnover on downs on their 36.
They stop us on 3rd and 9. So, we kick the 38 yard FG to make it 47-23 with 30 seconds left.
Game over. 47-23 win for us.
Brink was 19 of 38 for 315 yards with 3 TD's and 1 INT. Since he was isolating my weak defender, I switched to much more zone coverage in the 2nd half and it worked.
Sanchez was 18 of 27 for 345 yards with 2 TD's 0 INT's before he was hurt.
Booty was 6 of 9 for 168 yards with 2 TD's 0 INT's.
Woolridge ran the ball 19 times for 71 yards.
Brink ran 3 times for 9 yards.
Washington ran 26 times for 84 yards (his avg would have been much better if he didn't lose massive yards on a few option pitch plays.)
Sanchez ran 2 times for 10 yards before suffering the broken bone.
Reed ran 4 times for 6 yards.
B. Gibson crushed us (mostly in the 1st half) with 10 catches for 195 yards and 3 TD's.
Bursey only had 2 catches for 15 yards as Pinkard was all over him.
Fred Davis had 6 catches for 85 yards for us.
Hazelton had 5 catches for 152 yards and 2 TD's.
Dean had 5 catches for 128 yards and a TD.
Reed had 2 catches for 72 yards and a TD.
Washington had 4 catches for 70 yards.
I exited the game and forgot to look at defensive stats.

This week we face off at Washington against a talented team. They are 3-1 and have a great deal of talent on defense. Their offense is also quite good, but not doing well statistcally. They are 75th on offense and 30th on defense. We are 34th on offense and 24th on defense. Booty has become our starter with Sanchez's injury, and Garrett Green the speedy QB becomes our #2.
C. Bonnell is their leading passer with 45 of 88 passing for 602 yards with 6 TD's and 6 INT's.
L. Rankin is a dangerous HB who has 411 yards on 59 carries. He also has 6 TD's.
C. Williams is the leading receiver with 16 catches for 293 yards and a TD.
Sanchez had just broken 1000 yards for the year when he was injured. Washington leads our ground atttack with 73 carries for 304 yards and 6 TD's. Von Hazelton is our leading receiver with 15 catches for 349 yards and 3 TD's.

We force a 3 and out on their first drive.
We end up punting, and they put together a great drive where they convert 4th and goal from the 1 for a TD. 7-0.
That drive was 14 plays that covered 60 yards and ate up 4:42 of the clock.
In just 3 plays we cover 76 yards including a 45 yard bomb to Dean on a fly route where he just beat his lone defender deep. 7-7.
We force a 3 and out.
After exchanging several failed drives, Booty caps a drive with a 8 yard TD pass to Davis. 14-7.
Late in the 2nd quarter, Booty injures his wrist and Garrett comes into the game.
Halftime: 14-7 lead for us as Garrett can't get us into FG range.
Booty was 7 of 11 for 121 yards with 2 TD's in the first half.
Garrett was 0 of 2.
C. Bonnell was 9 of 20 for 112 yards.
Washington has 10 carries for 39 yards.
Garrett Green had 3 carries for 28 yards.
L. Rankin had 11 carries for 28 yards for them.
Booty is back for the 2nd half.
Late in the 3rd quarter, Cary Harris saves a TD with a great interception.
End of 3. We still lead 14-7.
We go 3 and out and punt from our own 2.
3 plays later Pinkard intercepts it on our 5.
With 3 minutes left in the game, Booty throws a bad pick which they return to their own 40.
The next play Rivers intercepts a slant and returns it 45 yards for a TD!!!! 21-7.
They test Pinkard deep, and he makes the pick to seal the game.
Game over. 21-7 win for us.
Booty was 14 of 25 for 196 yards with 2 TD's 1 INT.
C. Bonnell was 19 of 40 for 222 yards with 4 INT's.
Washington had 23 carries for 77 yards.
L. Rankin had 20 carries for 53 yards.
J. Hasty also of Wash had 5 carries for 31 yards.
Our true freshman Dean led the team with 5 catches for 103 yards and a TD.
Washington had 4 catches for 42 yards.
Hazelton had 2 for 35 yards.
Turner had 2 catches for 7 yards.
Davis only had the 1 TD catch.
C. Ellis led them with 5 catches for 70 yards.
Rankin had 4 catches for 48 yards.
Ellison led us with 8 tackles.
Thomas led us with 2 sacks.
We had 7 sacks on the QB today, but only 2 from a DL.
Pinkard led the team with 2 picks.
Gunheim led them with 8 tackles and 3 sacks.
R. Lewis had their only pick.
Porter had 2 KR for 37 yards.
Lewis had 4 PR for 24 yards.

Today we host a 2-3 Stanford team. Their offense has been dreadful all year and is 102nd in teh nation. Their defense is much better and is 41st in the nation. They have 5th year senior T. C. Ostrander at QB and he just hasn't been able to get enough time to throw well despite having a good arm. He is 84 of 160 for 1001 yards with 5 TD's and 6 INT's. Anthony Kimble is a talented HB who has 520 yards and 6 TD's on 90 carries. He has the ability to go all the way on any touch. True Freshman Andy Higdon has elite speed and is always a deep threat and may be their best WR. Hopefully, Pinkard can shut him down. They don't have any other good receivers but they do have another burner.
HB Brandon Andrews is attending this game as our guest. He is one of 3 kids that are still interested in us during the in-season recruitment phase. Andrews would be the elite back that we haven't had since Reggie Bush graduated. He runs a 4.33 in the 40 and has excellent hands with great agility.

It's raining hard today..
Washington fumbles on his 1st carry and they recover inside our 20.
A play later they throw a 15 yard TD. 7-0 Stanford leads.
With 3 minutes left in the 1st, Schweiger tips an option pitch which Moala picks up and runs 42 yards for a TD! 7-7.
On the ensuing kickoff, Hidgon breaks a tackle, spins away from another defender and returns it 98 yards for a TD. He has tremendous speed, and he showed great moves on that kickoff return. 14-7 Stanford.
We fail to get it past midfield, and they put together a powerful ground attack to drive down the field to score a TD to make it 21-7!
With 30 seconds left in the half, Booty hits Turner in stride on a cross and he pulls away from the defense for a 75 yard TD!!! 21-14. That was critical.
A BS Pass interference call on a Hail Mary with 2 seconds left earns them a FG attempt from 48 yards out and they hit to make it 24-14 at the half.
Ostrander is a surprising 15 of 22 for 216 yards with a TD and an INT despite my stellar defense.
Booty is 7 of 16 for 119 yards with a TD.
Their HB and FB each have about 40 yards and are providing great runs.
Their HB also has 101 yards on 5 receptions.
We need to get the momentum back for the 2nd half or this could be an embarassing upset.
Pinkard picks off the ball on their 3 and runs it back to the 40. Big momentum shift from our impact CB.
Adewale takes a rare carry for a long gain as he had perfect blocking and went untouched for a 26 yard TD!!! 24-21.
On the 2nd play of their drive, their HB Kimble bounces off a tackle, spins, and uses his speed to go 68 yards for a TD! 31-21. He has been threatening to break one all game.
Early in the 4th, Booty throws a long pick on an underthrown ball to Dean. They still lead 31-21...
We finally make it 31-28 thanks to a balanced drive that ends with a Washington TD. Only 3:06 left, but we have all of our timeouts. I make a tough decision to kick deep, which is risky because their running game has been very good even with 8 guys in the box...
Wow... first play is a PA pass that Ellison picks off with a great leap and he gets up and returns it for a TD!!! 35-31!
We force a 3 and out and they make a decision to punt it with 2:10 left and all of their timeouts...
Washington and Adewaye carry the ball for 3-4 yards multiple times and get the 1st downs that we need to run out the clock.
We barely avoid a huge upset. 35-31.
Ostrander 23 of 37 for 289 yards 1 TD 3 INT's.
Booty 15 of 30 for 212 yards 1 TD 1 INT.
Kimble 12 carries for 140 yards and a TD for Stanford.
R. Jones 14 carries for 44 yards and a TD.
Washington had 22 carries for 90 yards and a TD for us.
Adewale had 3 carries for 35 yards and a TD for us.
Booty had 4 carries for 17 yards.
Kimble led them with 7 catches for 125 yards.
Hidgon only had 1 catch for 20 yards as Pinkard covered him well.
J. Dray on the otiher hand had 7 catches for 70 yards against Cary Harris.
Turner led our team with 3 catches for 91 yards including the 75 yard TD.
Davis had 3 catches for 31 yards.
Hazelton had 3 catches for 40 yards.
Dean had 3 catches for 28 yards.
P. Griffin led their defense with 7 tackles, 1 FF.
U. Udofia had their only sack.
B. McNally had their only pick.
Maualuga led our team with 11 tackles, 2 for a loss.
We didn't sack him or get much pressure all game.
Thomas, Pinkard, and Ellison each had a pick.

Good news!! Brandon Andrews was apparently impressed with our gritty win over Stanford. The 5 star HB and #1 HB in the country from Berkley, CA gives us a firm committment. He is rated the #3 player in the country. He should make an immediate impact next year..
We also had Ricky Poole, the #1 LT in CA and #4 in the country at the game. He was also impressed and has given us a soft verbal.
Chris Wells, a HB for Ohio State, won the offensive player of the week after having 20 carries for 138 yards and 2 TD's as well as 3 catches for 64 yards and 2 TD's in a 52-28 win over Purdue.
DaMarcus Waldrop of Alabama won the defensive player of the week after he had 4 tackles, a FF, and 2 interceptions in a 51-14 over Miss.
Here is a quick look at the top 10 QB's in the country as rated by QB RTG:
1. Chad Henne, Michigan 195.6, 112 of 173 for 1886 yards 23 TD's 4 INT's.
2. Rudy Carpenter, ASU 192.6, 123 of 179 for 1808 yards 23 TD's 3 INT's
3. Colt McCoy, Texas 188.7 134 of 201 for 2033 yards 25 TD's 4 INT's.

9. Stephen McGee, 161.2, 103 of 178 for 1571 yards, 20 TD's 7 INT's.

Today we host Arizona in a game that we should be able to win handily. They are 2-3 and their offense hasn't been very good. W. Tuitama has completed 108 of 172 passes for 1219 yards with 10 TD's and 8 INT's. Their passing game is 90th in the nation and their total offense is 101st. Their defense is 26th and has some talent in the back 7.
All of the experts are picking us to handle business at home. I'm hoping a good performance might convince Ricky to give us a firm committment.
I thought I hit post, but didn't. Therefore, the preview and game are all in this post..
The first play they hit their WR on a quick curl, he jukes my corner back and streaks down the field for a TD! 7-0 as Johnson just burnt us..
Turner drops a 3rd down pass ending our drive just past midfield.
As the 2nd quarter begins, Booty hits Turner for a 28 yard TD pass to finish a balanced drive. 7-7.
Cary Harris is getting beaten up and down the field. 14-7. I'm going to move Thomas up to the #2 CB spot next game.
Actually, I'm going to do it right now.
We march down the field in 4 plays ending with a 32 yard TD pass from Booty to Washington. 14-14.
They are mostly in 4 WR sets and they are still picking on Harris (who is my unquestionable 3rd CB.)
We force them into a 52 yard FG attempt and they miss it.
They force a 3 and out as a Washington fumble lost us 10 yards..
We force a 3 and out as Thomas defends 2 passes!
After a pass heavy drive stalls, we miss a 30 yard FG wide left!
Pinkard intercepts it and returns it all the way, but a PI call brings it back :(
2 plays later Ray Maulauga intercepts it! :)
Unfortunately, we fail to convert a 4th and 1.
Halftime: 14-14.
Tuitama is 12 of 19 for 245 yards with 2 TD's and 1 INT. Most of the yardage came against Harris and we are doing better with Thomas in the game.
Booty is 8 of 16 for 196 yards 2 TD's 0 INT's.
Their HB X. Smith has 17 yards on 12 carries.
Washington has 11 carries for 42 yards.
Smith with a killer run in which he breaks two tackles gets them a TD to make it 21-14. That was a 14 yard run to end a 11 play 71 yard drive.
We answer with an 8 play 74 yard drive that ends with a 18 yard TD pass to Reed. 21-21.
We force a 3 and out as Thomas defends two passes well.
Why didn't I move him to the #2 CB sooner this year?
Danelo misses a 46 yard FG attempt.
After we stop them, Washington fumbles it for the 2nd time this game. This time they recover.
Rivers forces a QB fumble and Ellis picks it up!
Booty with his 4th TD today and his 2nd to Turner to finish off a 9 play 69 yard TD drive. 28-21. 5:30 left in the game.
We force a 6 and out. 3:40 left and we get the punt.
Washington just batters his way to 1st down after 1st down with 3 or 4 yards per carry. We run out the clock after 4 or 5 first downs.
Game over. 28-21 win. Much closer than I thought it would be.
Tuitama was 18 of 31 for 329 yards with 2 TD's 1 INT.
Booty was 15 of 28 for 302 yards 4 TD's 0 INT's.
X. Smith had 21 carries for 63 yards.
Tuitama had 4 carries for 24 yards including a powerful 16 yard run where he ran over 2 guys.
Washington had 24 carries for 122 yards.
Booty had 8 carries for 32 yards.
A. Johnson had 8 catches for 151 yards and a TD (mostly against Cary Harris.)
B. McCall had 4 catches for 70 yards.
Patrick Turner had 4 catches for 121 yards and 2 TD's.
Dean had 3 catches for 40 yards.
Davis had 3 catches for 37 yards.
Adewale had 2 catches for 28 yards.
S. Larsen led them with 8 tackles, 3 for a loss, and a FF.
They had 4 players each with a sack.
Harris led us with 6 tackles.
Morrow led the team with 3 sacks.
Maualuga had our only pick.
Thomas immediately becomes our #2 CB. I hate to see our secondary next year after he and Pinkard graduate.

Great news. Ricky Poole committed to the team today. He is 6'4 302 pounds and should be a great LT. He is a 4 star athlete.
Booty was the offensive player of the week!
Marcus Freeman of Ohio State was the defensive player of the week after he had 8 tackles, 2 sacks, and 2 interceptions in a 49-21 win over Penn State.
Now for a look at the 10 ten HB's by yardage gained this year at this point:
1. Shannon Dorsey, Fresno State, 176-1091-10.
2. Matt Forte, Tulane, 140-1076-10.
3. George Bell, VT, 150-1056-12.
4. Carl Stewart, Auburn, 172-1010-8.

Yeah, I think promoting Thomas to the #2 CB is really going to help my defense..
I don't remember the exact numbers but Harris had a pursuit in the 50's and a low tackling which led to some of the long TD's on big YAC's. Also, despite having superior speed, agility, and strength, he only had man coverage rating in the low 70's and zone coverage in the low 80's. However, he had an overall of 88 and I started him.
Thomas had an overall of 87 and he didn't have quite as good of speed (it's 91 I think compared to Harris who has 98) but he has 93 M2M coverage and 95 Zone coverage rating as well as 75ish pursuit rating. I think that made a big difference in the 2nd half and will be a huge factor against better teams later in the year. I just wish I made this change sooner, but better late than never. :)
Pinkard's M2M and Zone are both around 97. Like I said, I'm dreading when Pinkard and Thomas graduate at the end of this year.

During the bye week, Kregg Lumpkin of Georgia won the Player of the Week for a 24 carry 217 yard 3 TD performance against Troy in a 42-14 win.
Greg Hinds of Memphis won the defensive player of the week award against Tulane when he had 8 tackles, 2 for a loss, 1 sack, 1 interception, and 1 Fumble recovery.
Today we have one of our toughest tasks of the year as we face Oregon at their field. They have a veteran team that is 6-1 and 21st in the polls. Their run offense is 40th in the nation and their total defense is 17th. While their passing game is 82nd. However, with their dangerous running game, it might open things up for the pass today.
Dennis Dixon is a VERY dangerous running QB who also has a very good arm. He has completed 95 of 152 passes for 1191 yards with 12 TD's and 5 INT's. Dixon is also the 2nd leading rusher with over 300 yards on 45 carries on the year. He also has 2 TD's. Andre Crenshaw is a dangerous compliment. The junior has 732 yards on 124 carries. He has 8 TD's. Jaison Williams is the leading receiver with 32 catches for 385 yards and 1 TD. Jordan Kent has 4 TD's and is a deep specialist.
Patrick Chung is a top flight LB who leads the team with 41 tackles and he leads the team with 4 interceptions. He also leads the team with 7 passes deflected.

After watching a week of practice, I've decided to promote Kevin Thomas to the Nickel back. Cary Harris drops from starting CB to our dime back.
We force a 3 and out with good pass defense after stuffing the HB on 2nd down and 4.
We put together a great drive thanks to converting a 4th and 1 on the 40. We end it with a 4 yard TD pass to our backup TE out of a 2 TE set. 7-0.
After exchanged failed drives, Thomas the new starting CB, makes a great interception.
Danelo hits a 46 yard FG to make it 10-0.
After multiple great defensive drives, they beat Pinkard deep and he misses a tackle and they make it 10-6 with 3:20 left in the half. We blocked the XP.
The very first play of our next drive, we call a PA pass. Dean uses his phenomenal speed on a fly route. Booty throws it 50 yards and hits Dean in perfect stride for an 80 yard TD pass! 17-6.
A balanced drive ends in a short TD run. 17-13. Their QB had a few big runs on that drive as he is breaking down our spy scheme.
Booty throws his second pick of the half as the clock is winding down in the half.
Halftime: 17-13 lead for us.
Boort is 10 of 17 for 129 yards with 2 TD's 2 INT's at the half.
Dixon is 10 of 15 for 148 yards with 1 TD 1 INT at the half. Both of us have most of our yards on 1 big pass play.
Washington has 7 carries for 44 yards.
Booty has 5 carries for 23 yards.
Dixon has 6 carries for 30 yards.
Crenshaw has 9 carries for 25 yards.
Dean has 2 catches for 85 yards.
J. Williams has 4 catches for 54 yards.
We get the ball to start the 2nd half.
Booty throws his 3rd pick on the drive, but we strip the defender and Dean recovers it.
Danelo hits a 48 yard FG to make it 20-13. That was his longest FG of the year.
Dixon with great running and passing to tie it up 20-20 with 4:10 left in the 3rd.
Early in the 4th, they hit a 53 yard FG to make it 23-20.
Booty throws his 4th pick of the day on an underthrown ball :(
We hold them to a 44 yard FG. 26-20.
Reed (in for an injured Porter) has a 54 yard kickoff return to give us a short field. :)
Washington catches the ball inside the 10, but fumbles it on a big hit. They recover! :(
Good pass defense forces a 3 and out.
They blitz on our first pass and Booty quickly throws it to Fred Davis. Davis bounces off a defender, stiff arms another defender and runs it 49 yards for a TD!!!! 27-26.
Dixon with a great option keeper for a 32 yard TD run to make it 32-27 (we tackled him to stop a 2 point conversion when he tried to run it in.)
Booty with another terrible throw and pick :(
Crap. They hit a 55 yard FG to make it 35-27. 2:40 left in the game.
We drive inside the 20, but Booty throws yet another pick in the endzone. His worst game ever dooms our championship season. :(
Game over. 35-27 loss.
Dixon had 87 speed, and a 90 arm. Great plays from him all day doomed us.
This was an instant classic game with a classic score of 732.
Booty completed 22 of 40 passes for 283 yards 3 TD's 6 INT's!
Dixon was 18 of 30 for 304 yards 2 TD's 1 INT.
Washington had 18 carries for 97 yards.
Booty had 11 carries for 65 yards.
Dixon had 16 carries for 116 yards and a TD.

Fred Davis led us with 5 catches for 95 yards and a TD.
Turner had 4 catches for 49 yards.
Dean had 3 catches for 88 yards and a TD.
J Williams led them with 6 catches for 67 yards and a TD.
T. Thomas led us with 8 tackles, 1 for a loss, and 1 interceptions.
Morrow led our team with 2 sacks.
Chung led them with 7 tackles, 1 for a loss, 2 sacks, and an interception.

That loss also conviced RG Aaron Heffner not to come to USC. Instead, he is going to Louisville which is a big disappointment as we he a top tier G. We only got 2 of our 12 early recruits to sign. At least they were at key positions.

Today we travel to play Oregon State. They have a very good QB in Ryan Gunderson. At least, he isn't mobile. However, he has a very accurate arm. As a result, he has completed 168 of 252 passes for 2110 yard with 24 TD's and 10 INT'S on the year.
Yvenson Bernard is a top tier HB that could start for any school in the nation. He has 848 yards and 12 TD's on 127 carries.
Jimtavis Walker is a very good #2 HB.
Sammie Stroughter is a dangerous WR who has excellent speed. He has caught 45 passes for 558 yards and 6 TD's. Anthony Wheat-Brown is almost as good and he has 34 catches for 458 yards and 6 TD's.
Statistically, their defense is 7th in the nation, but the only true standoust is FS Al Afalava who has 21 tackles, 5 interceptions, and 2 FF.

Their first drive, they shred us with running and passing ending with a TD pass to Wheat-Brown.
Our first Drive Booty throws a pick around their 40.
We stop them, or so we think, but they connect on a punk fake pass for a first down. 6 plays later they throw another TD pass to make it 14-0.
Our first play of the next drive, Washington finally breaks a run up the middle, cuts back to the outside, and goes 66 yards for a TD!!!! 14-7.
They put together another lethal drive that cuts through our defense. 21-7. After a 12 yard TD pass to Stroughter.
21-7 at the end of the 1st.
Hazelton drops a 3rd down pass, and we have to punt. Our defense needs to stop them this time.
We force a 3 and out.
This time it's an option pitch. Washington runs over the corner back, then stiff arms the safety down the field for a 61 yard TD!!! 21-14.
Another great drive. Our defense is getting torn up. This time, the FB runs it in from the 1. 28-14.
Except for one PA pass to Dean for 22 yards, Washington runs it every time on our next drive and finally runs it in from the 6 yard line. Great drive for Washington. 28-21.
Rivers sacks the QB and forces a fumble. Pinkard picks it up.
Booty overthrows a wide open Davis in the endzone on our 1st play.
Unfortunately, Washington is stopped on 2nd down, and on 3rd down Booty throws a good pass, but Davis catches it out of the back of the endzone.
Danelo hits a 35 yard FG to make it 28-24.
With 4 wideouts, they pick on Harris again for a long TD. 35-24 with 1:06 left in the half.
Using timeouts and running out of bounds allows us to get off a 10 play 72 yard drive which ends in a 12 yard TD pass to Ausberry!! 35-31 and we get it back in the 2nd half.
Halftime stats: 35-31 Oregon State leads.
Gunderson is 14 of 19 for 305 yards 4 TD's 0 INT's.
Booty is 8 of 14 for 124 yards 1 TD 1 INT.
Bernard has 10 carries for 40 yards.
Washington has 15 carries for 179 yards and 3 TD's.
Wheat-Brown leads their team with 5 catches for 104 yards and a TD.
Our catches are spread out to 7 different receivers.
Dean and Reed both drop key passes on our next drive and we punt.
Their HB runs over Ellison, our best safety, and knocks him out of the game.
They put together an unbelievable drive in which their QB scrambles for a 1st on 3rd and 8 (despite his 56 speed) and they finally end it with a 22 yard TD pass (he does have 98 accuracy with a 91 arm strength.) 42-31. That was a 14 play 91 yard drive that ate up 4:55.
Oh my, 2 plays later Washington breaks off another long run. He ran over 2 guys on this play for a 59 yard TD run. 42-38.
Pinkard with an AMAZING leap for a pick. That was only the 3rd time they threw it his way.
Unfortunately, they stop us on a 3 and out and we punt. :(
Fortunately, we pin them inside their 10. A holding penalty and then a sack get a 3rd and 20 on their 1.
We force a punt from their 5.
End of 3. 42-38, they lead.
We put together a great 45 yard drive which ends in a 17 yard TD run in which Washington spun away from a LB, ran over a CB, and hurdled a safety for a TD!!! 45-42. I knew they tackling was bad, but didn't realize it was this bad.
On Bernard's next carry, Rivers drills him and knocks him out for the game.
We focus on the pass, and force a 3 and out.
After Washington bludgeons them 5 times in a row, We bring Reed in, pitch it to him and he runs it 52 yards untouched for a TD!!! 52-42.
They miss a 53 yard FG after a medium length drive. Now, we just need to run out the clock.
We run the clock down to 1:15 but fail to convert 4th and 1.
Pinkard with another pick to seal the deal.
Game over. 52-42 win (despite getting interrupted several times by my wife.)
Gunderson was 22 of 32 for 432 yards with 5 TD's 2 INT's.
Booty was 10 off 22 for 127 yards 1 TD 1 INT.

Chauncey Washington won the Offensive Player of the Week.

We remain ranked 7th after the win.

Today, we travel to play Cal. They are 5-4 on the season. Nate Longshore is their QB nad he has a cannon for an arm, but he is very immobile. He has completed 180 of 312 passes for 2420 yards with 25 TD's and 14 INT's. He has very good accuracy to go with his powerful arm. Marshawn Lynch is simply one of the top 3 RB's in the country. He has speed, strength, agility, tackle breaking ability. He has 160 carries for over 1200 yards and 6 TD's.
Robert Jordan and Desean Jackson are a very good pair of WR's (better than my top 2.) They have 49 and 45 passes respectively for 635 and 556 yards. Their offensive line is the weakness of the team.
Defensively, Anthony Felder is one of the top LB's in the country. He leads the team with 55 tackles and 6 sacks.
Their corners are the weakness defensively. They have very good safeties and a good front 7, but hopefully we can pick on the cornerbacks who are young and inexperienced.

At the end of 1, we are up 14-0 thanks to great passing and very solid defense.
Ray sacks the QB and Thomas picks up the fumble and returns it for a TD to make it 21-0.. :)
Ridiculous. I felt like I was watching the 3 stooges as their QB threw a quick slant to Jordan and he had 4 guys around him who all dove for him collided with each other and let him get away for a Long TD. 21-7.
We put together a strong drive to make it 28-7 on a 5 yard TD pass to Davis.
They get a BS PI call on a hail mary at the end of the half that sets them up for a 44 yard FG. 28-10.
Booty is 12 of 20 for 231 yards with 3 TD's 0 INT's.
Longshore is 11 of 15 for 192 yards 1 TD 0 INT's.
Washington has 13 carries for 39 yards.
Lynch has 11 carries for 17 yards, as their poor O-Line can't get him any room.
Jackson catches a short pass, jukes one guy, stiff arms another, and goes 78 yards for a TD. 28-17.
A strong drive ends with a 7 yard TD pass to Washington 35-17.
A safety and 39 yard FG make it 40-17. Time to bring in the 2nd string offense on the next drive.
Thomas with a pick. With 8:20 left I decide to give the 2nd team a chance to score.
Garrett Green has the wind knocked out of him, and we put Booty back in and he throws a 12 yard TD to Ausberry to make it 47-17.
Garrett throws a pick on his next drive, and they put together a long drive that ends in a TD pass. 47-24.
Garrett Green runs it in on our next drive to make it 54-24.
Longshore hits Jackson for a quick slant and he burns my backup secondary for a TD. 54-31.
They recover this onside kick (we recovered the last one.)
Longshore throws another TD pass but fails to convert the 2 pt play. 54-37.
Game over. 54-37 win.
Booty was 24 of 36 for 367 yards 5 TD's 0 INT's.
Garrett Green was 2 of 4 for 30 yards 0 TD's 1 INT.
N. Longshore was 26 of 34 for 490 yards 5 TD's 1 INT.
Washington had 21 runs for 83 yards.

Today we play at 10-0 ASU who is currently ranked #2. They are led by Junior(RS) QB Rudy Carpenter who has one of the most accurate arms in America. He also has good mobility. He has completed 223 of 334 passes for 3254 yards 37 TD's and 8 INT's. He is averaging over 325 yards per game. He has a pair of great HB's in Keegan Herring and Shaun Dewitty. Keegan has 868 yards on 127 carries and 9 TD's. Shaun has 62 carries for 404 yards and 7 TD's. Rudy Burgess is an All American WR with great speed, hands, and agility. He has 75 catches for 1324 yards and 22 TD's!! His longest is 85 yards. Mike Jones is just as good as my #1 and he has 51 catches for 525 yards and 3 TD's. Zach Miller is one of the best TE's in the nation and he has 30 catches for 501 yards and 5 TD's.
They have a very good left side of the line and the right side of the OL isn't bad. Their defensive line has top tier talent across the board. Their linebacking corp is great at OLB but weak at MLB. Their CB's are decent but not very good. Their safeties are above average.
Should be a shoot out.

Our first drive, we get inside the 20, but Booty overthrows guys in the endzone twice. We settle for a 30 yard FG. 3-0.
Thanks in part to a holding call, we stop them just inside our half of the field.
Washington gets an option pitch on our 1st play, and he stiff arms the safety and manages to go all the way!! 80 yard TD. 10-0.
They put together a balanced drive to get inside the 15, but we stop them there! Short FG makes it 10-3.
2nd play of our drive, Washington catches a ball in the flat, gets nailed by their star LB and fumbles it. They recover.
Inside the 5, Pinkard cuts in front of a pass intended for Burgess and picks it off and returns it to the 20.
#10 Tryon picks off a hitch route intended for Dean and returns it all the way for a TD. 10-10. 7:26 left in the half.
They force a 3 and out on our next drive.
On 3rd and 11, the QB throws it deep into a crowd.. Thomas picks it off. :)
After a long pass to Davis (big YAC) we get stopped and Danelo misses a 52 yard FG wide left.
On the first play, Carpenter throws it as he is being hit and it sails off target right to Pinkard! He intercepts it and returns it for a TD!!! 17-10. Pinkard is having an amazing season.
Rivers nails the HB on their next play, and Ray recovers it!!
Wow, we get to the 1 yard line, but get stopped trying to run it on on 1st and 2nd down and a 3rd down pass is stopped short. We kick the 20 yard FG. 20-10 with 40 seconds left in the half.
Great passing and a spectacular catch by Burgess get them into FG position and they make it 20-13 at the half.
Booty was 9 of 18 for 120 yards with 1 INT in the 1st half.
Carpenter was 12 of 19 for 135 yards and 3 INT's in the 1st half!
Washington has 9 carries for 119 yards and a TD.
Herring has 8 carries for 28 yards.
First drive for them, 3rd play, we sack Carpenter and break a finger on his throwing hand. He is expected to be out for at least a quarter.
2 plays later, Rivers sacks the QB and forces a fumble. Morrow recovers!
Inside their 20, Washington has his 2nd fumble of the day as he was fighting for yards in a crowd.
We stop them short of midfield and force a punt.
A well balanced drive ends with a 5 yard TD pass to Turner. 27-13.
We force a 3 and out.
A 11 play 62 yard drive that ends in a 1 yard TD run by Washington puts us up 34-13.
Carpenter is back in the game.
Carpenter throws a wild long pass to Ellison, but he drops it :(
Pinkard went for his 3rd pick and missed it giving Burgess a wide open path to the endzone. 34-20 with 7 minutes left in the game.
2nd play of our drive, Washington runs up the middle with great blocking, cuts back to the outside, stiff arms the safety and goes 74 yards for a TD!!! 41-20.
Ellison picks off a long pass and almost runs it back, but the QB tackles him.
With a 41-20 lead and 3 minutes to go, I bring in our 2nd team offense.
On 3rd and 13, Garrett Green throws a pretty 21 yard TD strike to Hazelton. 48-20.
Game over. 48-20 win.
Booty was 18 of 32 for 240 yards with 1 TD 1 INT.

Ellis led the team with 2 sacks.
Pinkard led the team with 2 picks.
J. Barrett led them with 6 tackles.
T. Morant had 2 sacks.
J. Tryon had their only pick.
Hopefully, this win moves us up in the BCS standings..

Well, that win moved us up to #3 in the media and coaches poll.
Unfortunately, their are still 2 perfect teams and they are ahead of us. Also, playing a 4-7 UCLA team last isn't going to help our ranking much.
BCS Rankings:
1. Michigan 11-0.
2. Texas 12-0
3. USC 10-1
4. Alabama 11-1
5. Tennessee 11-1
6. Louisville 10-1
7. FSU 11-1
8. Virginia Tech 11-1
9. Miami 10-2
10. ASU 10-1
Michigan's next game is at New Mexico which they will likely win easily. They beat Ohio State 38-24 in their last game.
Texas beat Texas A&M 45-14 in their last game and is done their regular season.
Despite his relatively poor game, Burgess is still getting a ton of Heisman Hype as is his QB, but the bad performance definitely hurt Carpenter's chances.
Bobby Reid of Oklahoma State won offensive player of the week again after he completed 19 of 25 passes for 253 yards and ran it 19 times for 155 yards with a total of 6 TD's in a 45-36 win over Hawaii.
Chadd Evans of Tulsa won defensive player of the week after he had 12 tackles, 8 for a loss, and 4 sacks in a 24-14 win over UK.
Jeff Byers, our 98 rated LG, is an award finalist for the offensive linemen of the year.
Josh Pinkard is the leading candidate for the Thorpe Award. Interestingly, Cary Harris is a finalist too. He did have a good number of interceptions despite giving up a lot of yards.
Travis Draper, our 90 rated C, is a finalist for the Rimington award.
None of our other players are award finalists.

God i wish PS2 had those kind of ratings

An update: Well, with the fatigue bug being fixed, it looks like my plan to buy Madden and import these classes into Madden is back on track. I'll probably play 2 seasons of Madden over the next few weeks to catch up to where I am in this dynasty, then bounce back and forth for a season between each of the games. Now onto the last game of our regular season!
Today we host a 4-7 UCLA team. We need to beat them, and beat them big. Even then, we are unlikely to advance into the National Championship Game. UCLA has a talented QB in Ben Olson but he has been injured for most of the season which is part of the reason they are 4-7. Instead, Pat Cowan will start at QB. He is an above average QB who has completed 127 of 259 passes for 1949 yards with 17 TD's and 11 INT's on the year.
Chris Markey is a talented senior HB who has over 840 yards on 150 carries. He also has 5 TD's. Christian Ramirez is a redshirt freshman who could be a star in future years. This year, he has 280 yards on 55 carries.
Terrence Austin and Marcus Everett aren't that talented and we should be able to shut down the passing game....
Defensively, a good secondary is led by CB Trey Brown, but the rest of the defense is young and inexperienced.

After crossing midfield, Van makes a great pick of an errant Booty pass.
Harris with an interception ends their drive.
Adewale with a run and fumble three plays later.
After forcing a 3 and out, we drive the ball down the field ending in a 14 yard TD pass to Dean! 7-0.
After exchanging several failed drives, UCLA uses their TE a lot and Markey on the ground. They end with a 4 yard TD run. 7-7 as we start the 2nd quarter.
A few plays later, Booty throws a perfect strike to Dean on the fly route. 14-7 with a 54 yard TD pass.
Our next drive features Turner and ends with a 4 yard TD pass to Washington. 21-7.
After threatening to do so all game, Washington breaks a semi long one for a 28 yard rushing TD. 28-7.
Late in the 2nd period, Washington fumbles it inside their 5 and they recover. Next play we knock Cowan out of the game with a concussion. Next play, Markey runs it 92 yards for a TD on 3rd and 14!! 28-14.
However, we somehow manage to drive 69 yards in 4 plays including a 42 yard TD to Turner as the half was expiring. 35-14.
Halftime stats:
Cowan was 6 of 15 for 91 yards with an INT.
Booty was 17 of 28 for 320 yards 4 TD's and 1 INT in the half.
Markey has 13 carries for 137 yards and 2 TD's.
Washington has 11 carries for 54 yards and a TD.
After we force a 3 and out, Booty throws a pick around midfield and then fails to tackle Brown who returns it all the way. 35-21.
An 11 play 79 yard drive ends with a 2 yard TD run by Washington. 42-21.
Markey just had one of the most amazing runs I've ever seen. He must have juked at least 6 guys for a 71 yard run before Pinkard caught up to him.
3 plays later Pinkard picks off an out pattern and runs it 95 yards for a TD!!!! 49-21.
Crap. A good pick gets Everett open across the middle and Pinkard can't quite recover from the Pick and Everett goes 74 yards for a TD. 49-27.
Washington with another fumble on his 4th carry of this drive. They recover.
Suddenly, our secondary is getting tired and falling apart. A 48 yard TD makes it 49-33 (they miss the 2 pt conversion.)
5 minutes left in the game.
In a drive which we use our top 3 backs, we run it 14 times in a row for 73 yards and finally a 6 yard TD by Washington. 56-33 with 1:30 left.
Game over. 56-33 win.
Callahan of UCLA was 5 of 12 for 192 yards (thanks to 2 long TD passes) He also had a pick.
Cowan was 6 of 18 for 92 yards with 0 TD's and 1 INT.
Booty was 26 of 39 for 465 yards 4 TD's 2 INT's.
Markey had 20 carries for 206 yards and 2 TD's.
Washington had 27 carries for 117 yards and 3 TD's.
Reed had 5 carries for 31 yards.
Stefon Johnson, my 3rd string HB (and likely starter next year) had 3 carries for 20 yards.
Everett had 3 catches for 124 yards and a TD.
M. Willis had the other long TD but only the 1 catch.
Turner had 10 catches for 199 yards and a TD for us.
Dean had 6 catches for 141 yards and 2 TD's.
Washington had 4 catches for 45 yards and a TD.
Fred Davis had 2 catches for 24 yards.
R. Van led them with 8 tackles, 2 for a loss, and 1 pick.
N. Sutherland had their only sack of the day.
Ray Maualuga led us with 11 tackles, 3 for a loss, and a sack.
S. Ellis led us with 3 sacks. We had 7 as a team today.
Pinkard and W. Harris each had a pick for us.
Will this win get us into the national championship game? Come on New Mexico, please beat Michigan!

Not surprisingly, Michigan beat New Mexico 52-7.
Now, I'm praying for Nebraska (ranked 16th) to beat Texas in the Conference Championship game...
But, Texas crushed Nebraska 42-10.
Now onto the Heisman Trophy:
Colt McCoy of Texas wins it in a decisive manner with 489 1st place votes, 232 2nd place votes, and 56 3rd place votes. The QB completed 229 of 350 passes for 3406 yards and threw 44 TD's with only 9 INT's.
Rudy Burgess, the WR from ASU came in 2nd with 81 catches for 1427 yards and 24 TD's. He got 151 1st place votes and a bunch of 2nd place votes.
Lamarcus Coker, the HB from Tennessee came in 3rd thanks to 217 carries for 1290 yards with 14 TD's. He also had 53 receptions for 985 yards and 8 TD's.
Rudy Carpenter, the QB from ASU might have split some of Burgess' votes. He was 257 of 393 for 3729 yards and 44 TD's and 12 INT's.
Finally, Josh Morgan of VT came in 5th with 59 catches for 1078 yards and 16 TD's. He also had a lot of return yards.
Texas and Michigan will meet for the national title. We will play Louisville in the Rose Bowl.

Lombardi: Charles Johnson, Georgia. 49 tackles, 27 for a loss, 10 sacks, 3 FF.
Thorpe: Josh Pinkard, USC. Led the nation with 12 interceptions.

Today we play in the Rose Bowl against Louisville. They are led by New Player (did the guy naming players mess up?) New Player is a talented Redshirt Freshman QB who already has a great arm along with good mobility. He has completed 245 of 402 passes for 2856 yards with 40 TD's and 20 INT's.
George Stipling is a very good HB who has 224 carries for 1401 yards on the year along with 10 TD's.
Harry Douglas and Mario Urrutia are a very talented pair of WR's who are each approaching 1000 yards on the season. They have 74 and 72 receptions and each have 12 TD's.
Their defense is 2nd in the nation statistically and they have a lot of talent. MLB Lamar Myles is a tackling machine and he has 83 on the year. OLB Preston Smith is fast and a sure tackler. Malik Johnson completes one of the best LB corps in the country. Rod Council leads a talented secondary but Bobby Buchanan is a weak point that will be matching up against Dean hopefully. Buchanan doesn't have the speed to keep up with Dean..
A very good defensive line is led by RE Brandon Cox who had 9 sacks on the year.

Booty throws a pick to the LB on the 2 yard line ending our next drive.
2 plays later, Ellis sacks the QB forces a fumble which Morrow recovers in the endzone for a TD!!!! 7-7.
Midway through the 2nd period, they hit a 50 yard FG to make it 10-7.
A zone blitz leads to a bad pass by the QB and Pinkard intercepts it and returns it 61 yards for a TD. 14-10. Our defense is doing all of the scoring.
Halftime: 14-10 lead.
Booty has been under HEAVY pressure with 4 sacks.
He is 3 of 12 for 65 yards with 1 INT.
N. Player is 12 of 15 for 87 yards and an INT.

Time to see who is leaving early along with our many seniors that are graduating...
Eaglesfan27
08-18-2006, 09:46 PM
All American LG Jeff Byers is going early and is quite determined.
Junior set to be a star WR Patrick Turner is going early and will not be convinced to stay.
MLB Rey Maualuga is strongly considering going. I try to talk him into staying, but fail to do so.
C Travis Draper leaves early.
CB Kevin Thomas leaves early and he was my likely #1 guy this upcoming year. :(
Fred Davis graduates and is almost certain to get drafted high.
Keith Rivers leaves as one of the highest regarded LB's in the nation.
DT Sedrick Ellis leaves as the top ranked DT on many teams draft boards.
FB Jody Adewale leaves as a highly regarded draft prospect.
CB Josh Pinkard leaves as a likely 1st round pick.
RE Jeff Schweiger graduates and will likely be a day 1 selection.
TE Jimmy Miller will probably make a roster after graduation.
OLB Thomas Miller will likely get drafted.
HB Chauncey Washington should be a day 1 selection.
QB Josh Booty should be a day 1 selection for a team looking for a QB.
HB Desmond Reed should make a team.
TE Dale Thompson might make a team.
LE Alex Morrow should be drafted.
CB Terrell Thomas should make someone's roster.
Backup DT Chris Barrett has a good chance to play on Sunday, but probably at DE.
HB Whitney Lewis should make a team as a punt return specialist if not as a HB.
LG Drew Radovich probably won't play in the NFL.
QB Michael McDonald is unlikely to make it to the pros.
RG Alatini Malu is unlikely to make it either.
That is our entire exiting class. I can't wait to see how these guys do in Madden. Time to restock with a good recruiting class..
Eaglesfan27
08-18-2006, 10:32 PM
None of the recruits we are pursuing sign in week 1.
In Week 2, we get 3 recruits.
Donnell Alvarez is a 5'11 192 pound 5 star HB from Ran Palos Verde California. He is ranked 26th overall in the country, and we've now signed the top 2 HB's in the country to compete with Stefon for the starting HB position next year. We should be stacked.
Justin King is a 6'7 229 pound 3 star TE from Rohnert Park, California. He is ranked 434th in the nation.
Cedric Mitchell is a 6'3 171 pound 3 star WR from Lakeside, California. He is ranked 631st in the nation.
In week 3, we get 2 more 3 star prospects. C Robert Hill 6'1 288 pounds from Watsonville, California and 6'4 342 pound 3 star RT Willie Landrum from South Gate, CA.
In week 4, we pick Chris Gatewood, a 4 star 6'3 248 pound TE from CA. We also get 2 star RG John Lopez who is 6'1 350 and 2 star CB Brett Mack who is 6'1 182.
In week 5, we hit the jackpot. Ray Mosley is a 6'1 260 pound 4 star DE from CA.
Damon Horne is a 6'2 182 pound 4 star HB from CA. I'll probably have him put on weight and play some FB.
Jon Brewer is a mobile 3 star QB.
Michael Jefferson is a 6'4 296 pound 3 star C who will play some G for us.
John McCarty is a speedy 3 star WR.
Jelani Biggers is a 6'6 260 pound 1 star DT who will give us a bit of depth.
Our class ranked 12th with 2 5 star players, 4 4 star players, 8 3 star players, 2 2 star players, and 1 1 star player.
Texas had the best class with 4 5 star players, 10 4 star players, 5 3 star players, and 1 2 star player.
Edward Porter took the biggest jump in skill during the spring training.

Time to quickly glance over the roster:
Sanchez is the undisputer starter with an overall of 93, 96 Throwing Power and 92 accuracy.
Garrett Green is coming up strong however with an overall of 88. Speed of 84, throwing power of 90 and throwing accuracy of 89.
Jon Brewer the true freshman will redshirt this year barring injuries. However, he is already quite advanced.
Our project QB, redshirt Mike Brooks is one of the fastest guys on the team but has 73 Arm Strength and 72 accuracy.
At HB we have a huge battle. The freshman haven't stepped up as much as I thought they would, but sophomores Stafon Johnson and C.J. Gable are ready to battle it out. Both will probably see PT. Stafon has great speed but can really run over people. Gable is extremely elusive and not quite as fast. They are rated 90 overall each.
Sophomore FB John Seward will start. He is fast with 81 speed. He has decent hands and is an above average blocker.
We've moved HB Michael Coleman to FB and he is an above average runner at the position, but a poor blocker.
We have an abundance of talent at WR. With Turner graduated, Vidal Hazelton stpes into a starting role. Jamere Holland has really stepped up and he has blazing speed so he might win the other starting role from Donnie Dean who is the fastest guy on our team. Either way, we will run a lot of 3 WR set's and be a very tough matchup.
Davis Ausberry is a very good #4 WR who is rated 86. The others are rated 89,88, and 87.
Our two true freshmen will both redshirt this year.
Michael Riley is a redshirt freshman who has decent speed (78) but has very good hands, and is a good blocker. He will start at TE.
Anthony McCoy isn't much behind him. He is also a good blocker, but is much faster. If he can work on holding onto the ball more, and his awareness, he could take over the starting job.
Junior LT Jeff Tola is a great blocker who will anchor our line. He is equally skilled at run and pass blocking.
Jeff Schweiger is a very good pass blocker and a good run blocker who is only a sophomore.
Center is our weakpoint and Lawrence Harmon will again start, but if he doesn't improve quite a bit this year, we'll be looking for a new C next year.
Joe Howard, the true sophmore, is really blossoming into an elite blocker.
RT Charles Brown is a very good pass blocker, but only good at run blocking. There is a significant drop off in our depth along the entire line.
AT LE, Jeff Smith should shine this year. However, RE Kyle Moore is our true star. The 6'7 270 pound DE is a very quick player for his size.
Lawrence Miles and Fili Moala pair up to be one of the best DT tandems in the nation this year.
LOLB Brian Cushing will move into the starter's role. He is a very sure tackler.
At MLB it is a battle between the speedy P.J. McCray and instictual David Tuiasosopo to see who takes over the starting role. Neither are much above average, yet.
Kaluka Maiava has the potential to be our star LB from the ROLB spot.
Cary Harris responded well to the demotion last year and has really improved his M2M and zone coverage skills and will be our undisputed #1 CB. I've moved Kevin Ellison to CB due to the lack of depth at the position, and the former safety will battle senior Mozique McCurtis for the #2 CB position. Both are good coverage men. It gets very ugly after that and we don't have a very good dime CB.
By default, true Freshman Brett Mach will probably win that dime cornerback spot, but we need to bring much more talent to the position while recruiting.
FS Antwine Perez is only a sophomore, but he might be the fastest, most sure handed, best coverage safety in America. To top it off, he is a sure tackler.
Freshman Tommy Carrington is a good safety working behind him.
SS Will Harris and Edward Porter continue to battle for the starting SS spot. Porter has amazing speed (faster than any of my CB's) and is stronger, more agile, and has better acceleration. He is a threat to return any interceptions the distance with very elusive moves. He is also a better tackler. On the other hand, Harris is the smarter, more aware player who is better at sniffing out running plays. He also pursues better, and is a much better coverage player. Porter's play recognition is abysmal.
Mario Danelo is our senior kicker who has great accuracy and very good leg strength.
Senior Punter Taylor Odegard is good but not great.

In week 1, Tim Tebow, the QB for Florida, was the player of the week after throwing 20 of 24 for 228 yards and 5 TD's in a 69-6 win over Hawaii.
Wendel Davis, the LOLB for Arkansas, won the defensive player of the week award after he had 8 tackles, 5 for a loss, 2 sacks, and 2 interceptions in a 59-0 win over Buffalo.
In week 2, we start off with a tuneup against UL-Monroe before playing Ohio State next week. UL-Monroe lost their starting QB in week 1, and this should be a big time rout (and a test that I really dominate weaker teams like I should even on Heisman without resorting to cheap tricks.)

Kaluka forces their HB to fumble on his 1st carry. We recover.
We pound it into their 10, but Johnson fumbles and they recover.
With 4 WR, I decide to use Porter as our dime CB.
We force a 3 and out, and our defense looks good so far.
Sanchez throws a pick on his third throw, a simple out, and the CB evades Sanchez and goes the distance. 7-0.
One 38 yard pass gets them another FG after several failed drives by each side. 10-0 they lead!
After a few bad drives, Gable comes in. 2nd run is a 39 yard carry to the outside.
I'm having a hard time completing passes without relying on my 2 usual plays for good passes. But, we manage to get inside the 20 where I have to settle for a FG. 10-3.
McCurtis (who won the #2 CB spot) gets his first pick of the year on a post route.
I decide I'm going to stop just pounding the rock and passing from weakness and start using our multiple WR's against their inferior CB's.
2 plays later Dean burns his man on the fly route for a 27 yard TD. 10-10.
First play of their drive, Harris intercepts a WR screen.
Johnson fumbles it on the 1 when attempting to dive over the pile. They get the fumble. Gable will be getting the majority of our carries now..
We stuff the HB for a safety on the next play. 12-10.
First play of our drive, Gable gets perfect blocking on a counter and goes untouched 48 yards for a TD. 19-10.
After several short passes, they hit a long pass (52 yards) on us for a TD. 19-17 with 6 minutes left in the half. To be fair, it was our dime CB they beat.
A few plays later Sanchez hits Holland on a long crossing route. 26-17.
After getting a stop, we put together a balanced drive which ends with a TD pass to Holland on a simple out. 33-17. Momentum is really going our way now.
Halftime: 33-17 lead for us.
C. Patton is 14 of 25 for 191 yards with 1 TD and 2 INT's for them as they are running a spread offense.
Sanchez is 10 of 20 for 156 yards with 3 TD's 1 INT.
Gable has 7 carries for 112 yards and a TD.
Stafon Johnson has 11 carries for 25 yards and 2 fumbles lost.
Patton is actually fairly well rated with an overall of 85, TP of 91, and TA of 81.
However, their 3 WR's aren't as good as our top CB's.
We get the ball to start the 2nd half.
Danelo hits a 44 yard FG to make it 36-17.
They have been using a 4-6 defense all day to stop our running attack (except for one or two big runs.)
A truly beautiful PA pass fakes out our defense (including our inexperienced MLB) and the TE is wide open for a 42 yard TD pass. 36-24.
Sanchez overthrows the WR on a slant and the CB intercepts it and returns it all the way. 36-31.
Maybe as I get back into practice with this game, and am not so tired, I won't make so many bad reads.
Oh my, the TE fumbles after catching a short pass. Our RT recovers, but he fumbles it.. they pick it up and return it all the way. 37-36 they lead after we stop the 2 pt coversion.
They go all out on a blitz on 3rd and 3 and Sanchez hits Hazelton with a quick pass that he takes the distance. They stop us from converting the 2 pt conversion. 42-37 lead.
Perez with a great pick of a long pass. Great return also to get us inside the 20.
Sanchez with a PA pass from the 2 to the FB to make it 49-37 as we enter the 4th quarter.
Harris with another pick. Their tendency to pass every play is finally hurting them..
Dean drops a 3rd down pass that hits him right in the hands.
As a result, we settle for a 35 yard FG. 52-37.
Most of our CB's have been tired during the 2nd half.
Johnson (who was in cause Gable was tired) gets great blocking and runs it in 20 yards for a TD without being touched. 59-37 with 1:30 left.
Ellison gets a pick to end their last drive.
Game over. 59-37 win. Hopefully, our defense can pull it together in future games.
Patton finished 23 of 44 for 305 yards with 2 TD's 5 INT's.
Sanchez finished 22 of 37 for 331 yards with 5 TD's 2 INT's.
Crum, their HB, ran it 9 times for -3 yards.
Gable had 18 carries for 164 yards and a TD. No fumbles.
Stafon Johnson ran it 19 times for 61 yards with a TD. 2 fumbles.
Sanchez only ran 3 times for 12 yards.
R. Mingo led them with 5 catches for 90 yards and a TD including their long of 52 yards.
Hazelton led us with 7 catches for 120 yards and 2 TD's.
Stafon Johnson had 5 catches for 54 yards.
Holland had 3 catches for 68 yards and a TD.
Dean had 2 catches for 32 yards and a TD.
J. Foster led them 9 tackles, 1 for a loss.
T. Eickman led them with 2 sacks.
K. Scott had 1 pick for them and M. Thompson had the other.
McCurtis led us with 12 tackles.
5 different players had a pick. No sacks, but we tackled the QB on runs quite a few times for a loss.

Despite the relatively close game, we maintain our #1 spot that we had in the pre-season polls. Our next game will be hosting #7 Ohio State who are 2-0.
Brandon Gibson of Washington State won the Offensive Player of the Week Award after he had 10 catches for 190 yards with 5 TD's in a 49-35 win over Idaho.
Matt Lewis of LSU won the defensive Player of the Week Award after he had 8 tackles and 2 Interceptions in a 48-7 win over a division 2 school.

This week, we face Ohio State at our place. Their QB Todd Boeckman is a a good but not great thrower who has 89 accuracy and 88 power. He is not nearly as mobile as Troy Smith or other previous QB's.
However, they have two great HB's. Chris Wells can run over most defenders and is quick too. Erik Haw is faster and almost as tough to tackle. They are probably the best tandem of HB's in the nation. Aram Olson is a good lead blocker.
Brian Hartline, Albert Dukes, and Ray Small form a dangerous receiving corp that may outmatch my top 3 CB's.
The Left side of the offensive line is great led by Alex Boone who is a favorite to go high in the draft. The right side of the line isn'tbad.
Lawrence Wilson and Robert Rose are two great DE's on either side. Nader Abdallah is an excellent DT. The linebacking crop is young but Ross Homan is a very fast very physical player.
Malcolm Jenkins is a shut down coenr and Andre Amos is almost as good.
Jamario ONeal is one of the best SS in the nation. Their defense is definitely better than ours.
This should be a very tough game.

Sanchez is 4 of 4 for 48 yards on our first drive and Gable runs it 4 times for 33 yards as we end with a TD pass via a PA pass to our FB. 7-0.
We stop them short of midfield and force a punt.
Gable has a great run in which he hurdles a defender, spins away from another, and then he fumbles it. They recover.
Wells was running well but on his 5th carry of the drive we force a fumble that Harris recovers for us.
Gable drops a 3rd down pass and we have to punt a few plays later.
Wow, Seward gets his 2nd TD reception of the day after we stop them. It was a balanced drive for us that ended in a 6 yard TD pass to Seward who ran a little Curl from the backfield.
14-0 we lead with 8:40 left in the half.
As they are crossing midfield (using some good runs and passes), McCurtis intercepts an out and goes the distance. 21-0.
I'm stacking 8 in the box, blitzing a fair bit, and it is working to control their running game and stifle their passing game.
They put together a really good drive in which they run for a first on 3rd and 5 out of a 4 WR set, hit some key passes, ending in a TD pass of 12 yards. We block the XP. 21-6.
2 minutes left in the half.

1st play, Rose sacks Sanchez, and knocks him out of the game. Time for the scrambler, Garrett to come in.
Garrett scrambles to get us a 3rd and 2. He overthrows his receiver on 3rd down. We go for it on 4th and they sack him.
Their QB throws it as he is being hit and the TE catches it and converts the 3rd and 12.
We force them to settle for a FG 3 plays later, but that gives them a 11 point lead with 2:30 to go. 38-27.
Sanchez fumbles when trying to scramble for a first and they recover and score a TD. 45-27.
Seward, our FB, gets his 3rd TD reception of the day on a 11 yard ou. 45-34. 32 seconds left.

So, that loss drops us from #1 to #7 in the polls while Ohio State jumps from 7 to 3rd with a few 1st place votes.
We have a bye this week as we lick our wounds..
Chris Todd of Texas Tech was the Player of the Week for completing 40 of 56 passes for 489 yards with 6 TD's in a 52-28 win over SMU.
Archie Donald of Toledo was the defensive player of the week for having 4 interceptions in a 31-27 win over FIU.
The good news is that we have 5 very good players who are considering giving us early commits..
In week 4, Ohio State lost to Texas 24-22 and they fell back to 7th place. We moved up to 6th during our Bye Week.
The top 10:
1. Texas 4-0
2. Miami 4-0
3. Virginia Tech 4-0
4. West Virginia 4-0
5. Tennessee 4-0
6. USC 1-1
7. Ohio State 3-1
8. Nebraska 3-0 (against a bunch of cream puffs)
9. Louisville 4-0 "
10. South Carolina 3-0 "
Stephen McGee of Texas A&M won offensive player of the week after he threw 25 of 33 for 334 yards and ran it 7 times for 85 yards with a total of 5 TD"s in a 49-21 win over Army.
Jammar Crane was defensive player of the week after having 11 tackles, 6 for a loss, 3 sacks, 2 FF, and 1 FR in a 56-3 win for Wisconsin over a Division II team.
Now we play Arizona at their place. They have Willie Tuitama who is an excellent QB. He has good mobility, and a powerful accurate arm.
Cody Glenn and Xavier Smith are a very good 1-2 HB combo.
However, their WR corp is inexperienced, albeit fast.
With the exception of RG Daniel Borg, their offensive line isn't very good.
DT Donald Horton is the star of a good defensive line.
LOLB Steve Clark is a true freshman and he is starting despite being VERY green. The rest of their LB's are good.
Their CB's are fast but not very talented and their Dime CB is downright bad. We should exploit him with some 4 WR sets.
Their safeties are just average.
We are expected to win by a wide margin.

Tuitama dissected us most of the field, but he overthrew it from the 20, and I intercepted it in the endzone for a touchback.
We fail to move it more than 15 yards and punt.
They end a great drive with a 4 yard TD run. 7-0.
We drive inside the 5 thanks to a long pass to Dean, but they intercept it on the 1 and return it 26 yards.
My other Harris gets a pick to end their drive.
After running the ball 5 times in a row, we throw a PA pass on 1st and 10 for a 29 yard TD to Hazelton. He got 20 of those yards after the catch.
They keep us off balance and put together a nice drive that ends in a 8 yard TD run. 14-7.
Gable fumbles and they recover at midfield or thereabouts.
Midway through the 2nd, Fili Moala goes out with an injury and will miss about 2 weeks. Big loss there.

They sack us twice on our first drive of the 2nd half and we punt.
A great punt return gives them a short field.
They end a 38 yard drive with another 5 yard rushing TD. 28-7.. :(
They've been killing our inexperienced MLB's with TE passes.
Sanchez throws his 2nd pick of the day to end a long drive.
Glenn with an amazing 5 yard run to convert 3rd and 3.
They miss a 53 yard FG to keep us in the game.

We get the ball back with 6:30.
We end a balanced drive with a TD run by Stafon Johnson. 35-35.
3:30 left in the game.
We force a 3 and out!
Crap. Sanchez is sacked and fumbles it.
They recover.
We force a punt after 5 plays.
On our own 20. 1:22 left in the game.
Amazing. With 12 seconds left, I call a run just to center it for a FG, but Johnson spins from a defender, stiff arms another and drags the last one into the endzone for a 11 yard TD!!! 42-35.
They can't return it all the way and time runs out. :)
We should have won by more, but at least we got the win.
42-35 win.
The game is my #1 classic. Score of 945.
Sanchez was 19 of 35 for 305 yards 2 TD's 2 INT's.

This week we face a 3-0 Washington State on their field. The experts are split on who will win this game. Washington State's top two QB's are injured and they are expected to start Arkelon Hall today. Arkelon has a cannon of an arm, but is very immobile. Hopefully, we can hit him frequently.
DeMaundray Woolridge is a very good HB who has 228 yards and 3 TD's on the season. He is averaging almost 5 yards per carry.
Brandon Gibson is a very good receiver who has good speed and excellent hands. He leads the team with 21 catches for 356 yards and 6 TD's.
The OL isn't very good.
Andy Mattingly is a superior SS who leads a good secondary. He has 4 interceptions on the year already.
Mike Graise is a good DE, but the rest of the front 7 aren't too good.
I'm surprised the experts aren't unanimous in favor of us winning it.

They stop us inside the 5, and we settle for a short FG to make it 3-0.
Oh wow, we nail their QB on an option and he will be out at least a quarter. They go to their 4th string QB, a WR.
He completes a screen for his first pass. It's a wobbly pass though.
He completes his 2nd pass, another screen.
They have to punt since those plays went for 1 yard each.
Too bad there is only 4 minutes left in the 1st. I'd like to see more of the WR/QB.
A balanced drive ends with a 5 yard TD run by Stafon Johnson. 10-0.
The WR/QB throws a pick on his first pass of his second drive.
A few plays later, Stafon Johnson runs it in from the 11. 17-0.
Their WR/QB still is in the game to start the 2nd quarter. They run it the first two plays including an option play. We force a 3rd and 11. He completes a little slant but it is only a 6 yard gain. We force a punt.
They force a 3 and out and their "starter" comes back in at QB.
Their running game gets them down the field a bit and they kick a 40 yard FG. 17-3.
After exchanging failed drives they get the ball back and march down the field ending in a TD pass in which one receiver tips it to another of their receivers. 17-10 with 50 seconds left.
On the 2nd play of our drive, Dean absolutely burns his man deep and Sanchez hits him in stride. 72 yard TD. 24-10.
Halftime: 24-10 we lead.

Hall is 12 of 17 for 153 yards and a TD.
We force a 3 and out to start their first drive of the 2nd half.
They force a 3 and out as well, Sanchez overthrew a receiver on 3rd and 5.
Oh my! Gable broke 3 tackles up the middle for a 47 yard TD run. 31-10.
A bad pitch flys over the HB's head and the defense recovers and runs it all the way to score them a TD. 31-17.
Johnson gets his 3rd rushing TD (a 2 yarder) as we enter the 4th quarter. 38-17.
Maiava with a good pick of a slant and he returns it 55 yards for a TD. 45-17.
A few plays later, McCray has a great leaping pick for us.
A few plays later, Johnson gets his 4th rushing TD of the day. 52-17.
We force a 3 and out.. Time to bring in the 2nd team offense with 5 minutes left.
Johnson (who is actually on the 2nd team) is fatigued and fumbles late in the game. They recover.

Hopefully, that win can boost us up the rankings.

Despite the big win, we remain ranked #6.
#5 Tennessee lost to South Carolina 42-31, but we didn't move up as South Carolina jumped from #10 to #5 with the win. South Carolina is still undefeated.
This upcoming week, we host an 0-4 Washington team, and we also host 4 big recruits that we are working on getting to committ.
Andre Crenshaw of Oregon won Offensive player of the week after he had 28 carries for 214 yards and 2 TD's as well as 5 receptions for 97 yards in a 34-21 win over ASU.

Today, we host an 0-4 Washington team. Their QB, Jake Locker (a sophomore) is barely completing 50% of his passes and has thrown more picks than TD's, but he is fast and has a good arm. He could be dangerous if he makes good decisions.
Their running attack is led by J.R. Hasty who is a good back but not too good. He has 225 yards on 50 carries this year and 2 TD's.
Locker is the 2nd leading rusher with 200 yards on 42 carries.
Marcel Reece is a good receiver who leads the team with 16 catches for 175 yards, but the rest of the receiving corp are average at best.
Their LT is a very good blocker, but the rest of the line is average to below average.
Their OLB, E.J. Savannah is a tough fast kid who is a great tackler. He leads the team with 32 tackles. Chris Stevens on the other side is another great OLB and he is second on the team with 30 tackles. Walt Winter is a very good DE who has 3 sacks on the year. The rest of the defense is just average at best. Their CB"s are BAD. We should be able to torch them through the air.
Of course, I want to showcase the running backs too since we are trying to convince a top notch RB to committ to our program today.

Wow, their HB/KR Hasty breaks two arm tackles, jukes my kicker and takes the opening kickoff 97 yards for a TD. 7-0.

After a few runs, we catch them on a blitz with a screen pass to the HB Gable. Perfect blocking lets him go untouched down the sideline for a 64 yard TD. 13-10.
We stop them and force a punt. We put together a balanced drive which ends with a 12 yard TD pass to the TE Riley. 17-13.
A zone blitz confuses them and Harris intercepts the ball. 1:30 left in the half. We are at midfield.
Bad clock management on my part causes us to run out of time while on the 3rd yard line on 2nd down.
Halftime: 17-13 we lead.
Sanchez is 9 of 21 for 168 yards with 2 TD's at halftime.
Locker is 7 of 14 for 73 yards and an INT.

Porter returns it to their 49.
First play, we call a PA pass, Booty barely rolls away from a DE and throws a perfect strike to Hazelton down the sideline for a 49 yard TD. 24-13.
After exchanging failed drives, we get into FG range and connect on a 39 yarder. 27-13.
They burn us with a great PA pass when we had an all out blitz. 47 yard TD pass. 27-20.
Midway through the 4th, we end a long balanced drive with a 1 yard TD run by Gable. 34-20.
My other Harris, Will, gets a pick to seal the deal.
They get their 6th sack on my QB to end our short drive, but we connect on a 41 yard FG. 37-20.
We force a turnover on downs. We try to run out the clock, but are unable to convert 3rd and 3. We kick a 40 yard Fg. 40-20.

Today we host a 1-4 Arizona State team. However, they have talent. Their QB Derek Shaw has a very strong arm that is slightly inaccurate. However, he has completed 105 of 179 passes for 1390 yards with 13 TD's and 7 INT's.
Keegan Herring is one of the best running backs in the nation despite being undersized. He has terrific agility, speed, and moves. Heis averaging over 7 yards per carry but has been banged up quite a bit. He has 51 carries for 382 yards and 5 TD's.
Mike Jones is a talented WR who is big and strong. He leads the team with 38 catches for 476 yards and 6 TD's. The rest of the WR core is just ok.
The O-Line is a bit below average across the board.

Their first drive is a nice combo of passing and running, mostly passing actually, for a TD. 12 yard TD pass to Williams to end the drive. 7-0.
2nd play of our drive, Sanchez throws a strike to Hazelton 14 yards down the field and he jukes the safety and goes the distance. 71 yard TD pass. 7-7
Kevin Ellison sacks the QB on 3rd down to end their drive, but he bruises his sternum and is out for the game. Now, our pass coverage could be hurting.
Our next drive is a 9 play 42 yard drive that ends in a 35 yard FG. 10-7.
End of 1: 10-7 we lead.
Crap! They ran a fake punt run play to convert a 4th and 8!
A few plays later they hit a 44 yard FG. 10-10.

Sanchez is 8 of 10 for 122 yards and 2 TD's.
Shaw is 16 of 24 for 190 yards with 1 TD 1 INT.
We get the ball to start the half.
Gable fumbles on the 38 and they recover.
Herring gets a slant from the option. He jukes one of my corners and then runs over my backup safety, puts his hand down, regains his balance and finishes going 24 yards for a TD. 24-17.
They force a 3 and out. We punt and Porter nails Herring.. he fumbles. We recover!
Darn. Another fake punt run and another coversion after they had stopped us.
They hit a 44 yard FG to make it 24-20.
A bad punt by our punter gives them good field position.
Perez intercepts it around our own 10 on a deep cross and he dodges one defender and takes it down the sideline for a TD. 31-20.
End of 3rd quarater: 31-20, we lead.
Will Harris intercepts it on the 10... he fumbles.. Cary Harris recovers it for us.
Their MLB intercepts it 2 plays later.

On a zone blitz, their DE intercepts a pass to the flat! He returns it 20 yards before I catch him.
They throw to their star HB in the slot again and he dodges two defenders and runs it 42 yards for a TD. We stop the 2 pt conversion. They are 32-31. I'm impressed they are using their undersized superstar HB in the slot and such.

We stop them on 2nd, 3rd and 4th!
We run out the clock. 40-35 win. This team had below average 3rd and 4th WR's, but our 4th CB is really bad and he got victimized all day. Also, their HB killed us in the slot.
This game got a greatness score of 720 and is my 3rd overall.
Shaw ended up 35 of 49 for 420 yards with 4 TD's 3 INT's.

Interesting, Notre Dame is 6-1, but unranked due to a very weak schedule. Well, they play us next.
QB Jordan Steffy had a very impressive performance in the win and he is now being talked about in the Heisman race. On the season he is 125 of 245 for 2030 yards and has 90 carries for 494 yards with 26 total TD's.
