View Full Version : FOF 2007 - Fictional player file creation

I might well be being dumb here, but is there a way I can start a game in 1967 for example, with fictional players of varying years' experience, with a low salary cap, but without going through the process of creating 2500 players manually?

I can do almost all of this: download a real player file, create fictional 1967 players but they're are all rookies, create fictional players of different experience but without the date adjustment, setting the cap is not a problem, but for the life of me I can't see an easy way of doing everything I want to...

Any help appreciated

I believe what you want is a one player universe file.

See this thread, post #6

When you use a opu to start the game you still get all rookies. I think you're hosed unless someone creates a utility for you. There are a few name databases that you could copy and paste into excel, then use the rand function liberally but outside of that I'm not sure.

Has anyone seen how fof2k7 handles OPUs yet?

I don't know if you've got your heart set on 1967 for some reason, but it would be fairly easy to do this for 1970.

I went ahead and made a fictional 1970 player file. I'll post the csv for you later today.

Pretty much the same as FOF 2004. I just simmed a 1970-2005 career with the OPU I posted, and everything seems fine.

Cool - the only way I could work out how it might work was to try and randomise the names from the 1970 roster set, but again that seemed like it would be a long-winded process. I guess I was either wrong in that it was the only way, or that it would take ages!

Thanks in advance.

I must be dumber than I thought :)

Using the 1970 roster file, I can amend the names, but when I create the roster file, all of the guys I have adjusted have speech marks around their names (e.g. "Bob" "Nicholls"). When I use the standard 1970 csv file (copied and pasted from a link 3ric provided I think) this doesn't happen, it's only when I resort it, or edit it...

My other plan was to use the 1970 real player file, and then the real player drafts, but it crashes every time I try and import the 1971 draft :(

(All this just to get a generated history! The reason I don't want to use the OPU is that all the intial rookies will have in effect extended careers, so the stats for the players of the early years will be unnaturally high due to the extra years they started)

I made the roster file and will be sending it to skydog to post. Just in case he's not around, feel free to PM me with your email address and I'll send it to you directly.
