Ok. So I've played 6 seasons into a new league and have noticed something really weird. I'm hoping someone here can make some sense of this. Every year there are 2 or 3 teams which release thier entire roster basically. They go into free agency with like 2 players signed, and cap room of like $20,000,000 because they just released like $60,000,000 in cap penalties. Not to mention another $40,000,000 in penalties for the next year.

I dont track the NFL salary management that closely, but I dont ever remember an NFL team composed of 90% rookie scrubs. (LOL) Because they release thier entire roster thier team is just terrible for 2 complete seasons. I could beat them with second string players as starters for the game.

Why is this happening? Does anyone know what the setup is in the NFL? What the average number of players released is? What the high and low numbers are? Anyone know the minimum roster numbers entering free agency.

Has this always been a problem in previous game versions, or just in this version?

Thanks for your input.

It appears that the big problem triggering this was a player retiring early in a giant contract, and killing his team with the balance of his bonus.

In the latest patch, as posted in the patch thread, the maximum bonus that would be absorbed this way is two years worth, which I suspect (and hope) will wipe out this problem in anything but the most bizarre series of coincidences. That is certainily the intent.
