The following changes are included in the 6.0d update, along with everything changed through 6.0c:
Cosmetic fixes to the time remaining displayed in Solevision at the end of a quarter in rare circumstances.
The in-game scoreboard may stop displaying after certain player ejections as a result of an unsportsmanlike penalty.
If players retire early, only up to two additional seasons will count as lost cap room in the upcoming season.
About 5% of the injuries do not show up as referring to the proper body area in Solevision and in the game logs. The fix for this means that Solevision and logs for games saved prior to 6.0d will show most injuries as leg injuries. This will not affect the injuries themselves in any way.
Make it a little more clear in the interface for starting a new career that League IDs require 8 alpha-numeric characters.
Revise the Level Economic Playing Field option for starting new careers to default to off.
Knock down the players' expected bonus under Wall Street level.
Fix the potential for a program hang when dealing with major roster reconstruction (most likely with AI teams in multi-player prior to a team's first exhibition game) when depth charts are not filled.
Fix an exploit with using the previous and next buttons to access the player salary screen when a player card is being viewed in statistics mode.
Try and make the installation file handle the entire Add/Remove process on its own.

Let me know if you can run it without doing a full uninstall of the game. The word "try" is what made me stop for a second and think of Yoda.

I'm trying to run the install file now without removing the game first since this is hopefully automated now.

Seems like a pretty reasonable compromise -- pretty parallel to requiring the player to "pay back" a part of his bonus in this event. And hopefully this will obviate the whole "cut to zero" paradox situation.

I would probably restart my current 7-year career now if I wasn't so happy with the way the stats and everything went the first 6 years.

Does Jim not know that it is December?

Knock down the players' expected bonus under Wall Street level.
What does this mean?

What does this mean?I assume it means just what it says: lower the players' desired bonus money when playing at Wall Street level.

I know we're not seeking a perfect simulation of the NFL, but there's no such thing as giving back bonuses in the NFL, and I'm pretty sure even if you recover the money you paid in a bonus (due to misconduct), you still have the cap hit...
I for one don't have a huge problem with AI teams emptying their cupboards...the one issue I have is that there are guys they have on hand who they cut whom they should be trying to trade first (for picks in subsequent years)....

To each his own, I like it if it elimates a team gutting itself out.

Sorry, that's just wrong. Players have paid back bonuses after retiring a number of time. Eric Crouch was one example. Adam Meadows was another. Many people know this as the "Barry Sanders Rule." In fact, an NFL contract can stipulate a pay back of a bonus if retirement is too early. Do you honestly think an NFL owner would pay a guy $20 million and allow him to skate with the money if he decided to "retire" the very next day??
Now that this is settled, I am almost 100% positive that NFL rules also provide that any bonus paid back is in fact recouped under the salary cap (although it may actually occur the next season).
In addition, other ways that teams protect themselves from this is by including roster bonuses over several years. If a player retires, he obviously won't get all of the roster bonuses. Since we don't have roster bonuses in FOF, this seems a proper fix for this issue under the last version of the game.
Edit: Yes, my research has confirmed that a team gets a rebate against the cap in the following year when a bonus is repaid.

Stupid question: Will this install over existing careers (universe folders) while keeping the contents ok, or do we need to back them up? I only ask becuase mine is about 2 gigs now and its a pain to copy.

The descriptions for the Yes/No options for level economic playing field when beginning a new multiplayer game are reversed.
They were corrected in the first patch for beginning a new single player game, I believe. But, I just noticed that they are still wrong when beginning a new multiplayer game.
