View Full Version : Exhibition Rosters

Now that I'm taking a more active roll in my SP games ( only letting AI set game plans ), roster management is painful at best. Especially right before the first exhibition game.
I have 59 under contract and obviously I can't into the first game until I deactivate all but 46. If you handle this yourself, how do you go about this? Do vets get pissed if they aren't active for exhibition?
What's the best way to approach exhibition and not make it mind numbingly tedious?

Just like unhappy players aren't affected by exhibition games, I would guess that it doesn't affect vets. I play two games with my starters and then de-activate them for the second two. Fast sim through all four games and only make adjustments for injuries.

Cool, I'll give that a shot. Do you handle everything or do you leave some shit to the AI?

If you play your starters for the final preseason game you will avoid the rust issue. You could deactivate them for the first 3 to save them from injury.

I've been playing mine for the first two usually, with the thinking being that if they get injured they'll have two more weeks to heal.

I leave all play-calling and game plans to the AI. It seems to do much better than 2k4.

I did that for my first few seasons, but didn't like the idea of rust. I think it may be more of a gamble, but when their playing time is set to 50% or less, they won't play the whole game.

I play mine in the final game to avoid rust. Or at least, the guys I have rested that show rust, I make sure to get them in a fair amount in that last game so they don't have a crappy start to the season. The risk of injury is always going to be there.

I forgot about the rust deal. It's hard to keep up with who has/hasn't played, but I'm liking the slower pace I've set this time around and I want to get to know all my players and not just the stars.
I have my injuries set to 200 now and I like the added pressure of more injuries (it just feels more accurate). The tough decisions are what makes the game fun.
I played my stars in the first 2 games and only rested a few the last 2. Is there any place, other than the box scores, to see the stats from preseason?
