View Full Version : Errors In Hometown File List

I'm finding some problems with the hometown file list. All of Virginia's towns are listed as being in Washington. From 12692 to about 12979. I'm going to check more, because that might account for some states like Utah having an inordinately larger amount of players. Though all of the Utans I've seen are from towns in Utah, but I haven't looked that closely.

Has anyone found a player from Virginia? If not, this is the reason.

I'm building a web-based player file creation tool, btw. That's how I noticed it.

Looks like it's just Virginia that's been taken over by another state. It's not a huge deal, but I figured I'd post it incase it affects anything in FOF07.

Typo, as simple as VA --> WA, perhaps?

Look for yourself. Open the new Player File Creator and click on City List and scroll down to where Virginia's towns should be. They're all there, but listed as being in "Washington". Not 'WA'

Not sure if it's a huge deal, but for what it's worth, there it is...

Massachusetts is spelled wrong, too. (Like that's the first time that's happened.) That was the other thing I found.

Crap, just when I thought the game was finally playable, THIS comes up!

I wasn't criticizing or doubting you, just speculating what might be at fault underneath the hood. Perhaps somewhere in the game there's a lookup table or the equivalent, and perhaps it has a typo. The fact that these two states have universal abbreviations that are separable by an easy and common single-character mis-type makes that make sense to me.

Oh, I know. And I don't think it makes any difference, really. :)

Unless there's no players from Virginia. As a former player from Virginia, that would be a drag. Tiny one. Okay, not really that much of one.

Just thought I'd post it here in case Jim or someone thinks it might.

No players from Virginia! Oh no, how are we going to play the game now?
