For the third time in two days, I've lost a free agent to a team that made a lower offer but is in the same state as the player's home town. Anyone else seeing that a guy may choose to go "home" via free agency or is this fluky? Seems like I've seen it before maybe.

Could be a number of reasons i guess, never thought of the home town thing as a possibility. Sometimes if you are a struggling team and a player has a very high wants winner rating, he could move to a better team for less money.

Home Town Screen
The Home Town screen shows a map indicating the home town of the selected player.
The list on the right side of the screen shows the distance from this home town to every team in the league. Distance may be a factor when players are choosing between teams during the free agency periods.

I have to play around with the idea that "hometown boys" may be more prone to become fan favorites or idolized, no matter what their skill level. I've noticed a couple of times, guys with low skill levels were fan favorites in the past; the "hometown" thing may explain it.

LOL... haven't put much thought into "hometown" until I read this, might help when picking between two closely rated FA.
