I am 10 weeks into my season with the New York Jets.

For the first few weeks, Tim Dwight was my punt returner. He had decent punt return ratings, and did okay, but wasn't doing anything special. Then, in a game against the Patriots in Week 2, Dwight fumbled a ball which would have given us possesion while only down by a few points. Then, the next game against the Bills, he fumbled a ball which gave the Bills a chance to go ahead late in the game (they did, and they won). I was sick of seeing these fumbles, so I put in rookie RB Leon Washington as the PR. As long as he could hold on to the ball (which he did when rushing), he would start as the PR. He put up terrible numbers, but didn't fumble once.

Then, during my bye week, I was looking at the transaction page and saw that the Cleveland Browns released Dennis Northcutt, who has pretty crappy ratings for a WR but was rated 64 in punt returning. I decided that I would give him a try, and signed him to a one year deal. He started my next game, against the Patriots.

the score is 28-20, the Patriots are winning, and there is 3 minutes left. I get the ball back, and go 3 and out. I decide to punt it, and let my defense stop them from running for a 1st down. They do. I realize I am about to get the ball back with 2 minutes left. I prepare for an attempt at a game winning drive. The Patriots punt the ball, and Northcutt returns it for a touchdown! I score the 2PC, then intercept a pass by Brady and kick a game winning FG, winning the game 31-28. Check the box score, and the rest of my NYJ dynasty, below.

I had a similar situation that would have made for a great recap item, which is something I'd REALLY like to see added to this game to help with the immersion. Even something rudimentary like OOTP does.

I'm in about week 3 in 2028 and my WRs are decimated by injury, so much so that I've got to pick up a FA just to carry the minimum. I'm playing the Jets in the upcoming week and notice that a 13-year vet who played his entire career with the Jets is still a FA - he looks like the typical old guy who hangs around in FA for a year or two and then retires.

He's the Jets all-time leading receiver and #3 on the league's all-time receptions list. And being a sucker for a good storyline, I decide to sign him despite the fact that his ratings are 31/31. He's not the worst FA out there, by far, but there are a couple of others who are better. But his numbers the year before aren't that bad and he's probably a future HoFer, so I decide to give him a try.

First game, he starts against the Jets and catches 8 balls for 83 yards and we win. In his second start, he catches 6 for 82. So I decide to keep him around even when the injured (and better-rated) WRs come back. He ends up starting 5 of the last 13 games of the season and has 46 catches for 582 yards and 2 TDs, second most catches on the team. We lost in the divisional playoff game to SD (post-Marty, obviously), and he retired after the season. Great individual story, though.

FOF can make me feel connected to the players. I'm not sure how, but it does it, and I love it.
