View Full Version : To Settle It Once And For All... QB Tony Gaiter

Ok, I had to go get his file off an old backup disc I made specifically to remember his career, but in my SP dynasty, QB Donovan "Tony" Gaiter (He WAS the boss) put everyone else to shame with his career. Default injury settings, Wall Street level.
Oh, and both during and after his career, he has never denied the claims that he both slapped children AND occasionally didn't care that his wife felt lonely while he was on the road.
The child slapping thing was something he got from his idol.. I won't mention any names.

After his sixth year he did nothing but go down hill, so what are you bragging about? ;)

Who is Dean Houston?
Last I heard, he was seen bitch-slapping some four-year-olds on the playground.

Funny how you misspelled his first name. :D

He's a Gaiter, so he automatically sucks, in my book.

I called him Tony.. But thats only because he was the boss. Everyone on the team called him that. They liked it when he would "Danza" round in the pocket and heave a bomb, which usually was caught.
An edit to explin that I drafted 3 replacement QB's (starting his 13th year or so) who I thought would take over when Donovan retired.. But he just kept playing. It was ridiculous. I think he was 42 when it was all said and done.

I tend to do stuff like that as well, when I decide to give players a nickname.
Your offensive line must have been top notch for them to give up so few sacks on that many pass attempts.

Wow. How much did you have to pay him to stay on your team that long?

I have my cap increases set at 0, so the cap never changes, but I believe in his most expensive years, he was never above 13 million. He also never got close to being a free agent. There were some leaner years defensively where I had to keep costs down a bit to ensure that I was able to keep him.
And our O line wasnt that great at all. Most guys ranged from 50-60 overall, which is good, but they were mostly mid round picks with good technique ratings and decent combine numbers, something like 5.1 second 40's and 7.7 agility times.. Always had a good LT though.
Perhaps the most interesting thing is I think there were only a few seasons where we didnt have a 1000 yard rusher to go along with the passing game.

Unrelated question: when you play 150 or so seasons, how much time do you spend on each season? Do you quick sim through the season, and take your time in the off-season?

I had been playing this one career since I bought the game about 2 years ago.. So yeah, I take some time.. I'll go through periods of time where I dont play at all, then eventually I'm back to playing 4 or 5 hours a day for a while..
I'd say the average season takes me about 3 to 4 hours to finish from coach signing to the Super Bowl, and I sim the games on the scoreboard so I can follow the action.
I haven't played a season on the game since Gaiter retired though. I saved the files to a cd because I love nostalgia, and after I got into the eNFL, I reinstalled 2004 and the universe files.. I may get back to that career at some point just to see if I can get a guy who throws for 100,000 yards.
Gaiter's successor is Money though. George Money. He'll have his day in the sun sooner or later.

My guy wasn't as prolific as yours. But I like posting screenshots. Here's the best QB from the last career I played, Harvey Tillman:

Wow great QB over 12000 yds in the playoffs is impressive. How many titles did you win? He had a great record 209-43.

Fellow pulled down 8 titles for me. Actually, now that I look at his player page, I remember he had a contentious relationship with the team. Owner wouldn't put up enough bonus money to sign him, so I had to franchise him a few years, eventually traded him when he held out. Brought him back at the end for a few more runs for old times sake
