View Full Version : A Mini-Dynasty: PG Klayton Meyers

I wasn't planning on writing a College Hoops 2k7 dynasty, but I've fallen in love with this freshman PG and I'm going to write a mini-dynasty about his time here. I'm in my 6th year coaching and have a career record of approximately 83-66. I'm in my 4th year at Drexel and we went to the tourney for the first time last year behind 3 senior G's and a JR PF/C who is 7'0 240 and talented. We were beat in the 1st round by a talented Louisville team (4th seed) that went to the elite 8.
I was tempted to move to another school, but none of the jobs were in significantly bigger conferences, so I stayed. I'm very glad I did as our #1 recruit is even better than I thought he would be. PG Klayton Meyers is a 6'1 170 pound Freshman from Brooklyn, NY. He turned down an offer from Rutgers to come play for us. He was ranked #224 overall and #46 at the PG position coming out of HS. He has very good dribbling ability, very good passing, very good speed, and a good outside shot with range behind the arc. He is also a good on ball defender, already. I wish I began following his career from the first day, but I didn't.
He immediately displaced my projected starter at PG Daniel Baldwin who is a good PG in his own right. Klayton started off the bench the first game, but was clearly better than Baldwin and has been a starter ever since. We are 4-1 with our only loss being a blowout to a much better LSU team. In 5 games, Klayton is averaging 28.6 MPG, 9.8 PPG, 5.6 APG, 1.4 SPG, and 1.2 RPG. Everyone around him is playing better as he is penetrating at will against inferior competition and creating open shots. He also is playing very good on ball defense. I'm currently up 35-14 midway through the 1st half because he has played so lights out this game against an admittedly weak Prairie View Panthers team. Klayton has 11 points and 5 assists in 14 minutes so far and he has me playing at 1:00 AM as I want to get in just one more game. I'll go over the rest of my team as we go on, but the main beneficiary of Klayton's passes is our senior leader, 7' C Bingo Wilmont.

In the 12 minutes, he (and the rest of my starters) played in the first half, we scored 35 points and only allowed 13.
In the next 8 minutes (I let everyone rest a long time since we had such a big lead), we score 18 more.
At halftime, we are up 53-21. Freshman SG Chad Daley from Patterson. NJ had a good 8 minutes off the bench. He'll be the starter at SG next year more than likely after senior Zach Kroger graduates.
With 9 minutes left, I pull our starters since it is a blow out. 84-45 at that point.
Meyers stat line for the game: 21 minutes played, 17 points, 10 assists (his first career double double!), 1 board, 2 steals, and only 1 turnover. He shot 7 of 10 from the field and 3 of 4 from the line. He was 0 of 2 on 3 pointers.
Wilmont only got a few of those assists as Klayton really spread it around. However, Wilmont had 21 points, 12 boards, and 2 blocks in 21 minutes. He shot 10 of 13 from the field.
We slowed it WAY down the last 9 minutes. Final score 95-55.
Wilmont was the player of the game, but Klayton was great.
Freshman SG Chad Daley (6'4 182) had 13 points, 1 assist, and 1 steal as the main guy on the 2nd stringer. He was 6 of 11 from the field. We are still inconsistent behind the arc and were 1 of 15 from there. Otherwise, that was the best game I've had as coach of this team, albeit against a weak team.

My College Hoops playing for tonight ends with another 1st. I managed to sign 2 guys in the early signing period! This is the first time, I've gotten more than 1 to sign early.
Bronski Montague is a tough JC Freshman from Baltimore Maryland who is a pure hustle guy who should be a good defender.
Jorge Dunleavy is a 6'8 229 pound JC Freshman PF (I'll probably play him at SF) from Brooklyn NY who has a very good outside shot, above average quickness, above average leaping ability, and very good hustle rating.
Unfortunately, we didn't get Will Trammell to sign early. Will Trammell is a 6'4 SG who could have been an elite running mate for Klayton. Like Klayton, I've worked on Will since his sophomore year. We have him very interested in us, but without him signing early, I think he is too good not to be wooed by a bigger team and get stolen from us. Like Klayton, he is a Mr. Basketball for his state - Ohio. Dayton has been our main competition for him, but we've been recruiting him so hard, that we are believed to be in the lead..

nI forgot to mention that I always sim half of my games (every other game regardless of who the opponent is.) I do this because I like the sim engine to help even out my stats with other sim engine players and also so I can get through a season quicker.
Our 6th game of the year is hosting a solid Vermont team that we are slightly favored over.
We beat them 63-53. Klayton had 9 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals on 3 of 5 shooting (2 of 3 beyond the arc.)
Bingo Wilmont was once again our leading scorer with 22 points, 5 boards, and a block on 8 of 17 shooting.
In 12 minutes, Daley did nothing.
Our next game, which I'll be playing over the next hour or so, is at a very good UNC Wilmington team, and it is our first conference game of the year (wierd scheduling this year since it is only December 6th and I have a few more non-conference games.) They are rated 85 overall while we are rated 80 overall. Their team unity is very daunting as they are starting 4 seniors. PG Quincy Stevens is much higher rated than Klayton and this will be Klayton's first big challenge besides the LSU game.

Is it easier to dribble penetrate in the 360 version? That's about my only complaint with the Xbox games, my guards are pretty limited offensively if they can't shoot.

The first 7 minutes were an absolute defensive battle as both teams only scored 5 points. Klayton scored 3 of them. Then, Bingo hurt his knee. That opened up the middle for them despite the fact that I have a very good sophomore backup C who will start next year named Garik Chancler from Philly. He is 6'10 242 and was a highly recruited player two years ago (my first big "get.")
At the half, we are up 36-34. Not bad on the road against a better team. Our 2nd team really outperformed their reserves and that is the key to our lead.
Key among those reserves was Chad Daley who has 8 points and 2 assists.
Klayton has 7 points, 1 board, 1 assist, and 2 turnovers at the half.
WHAT A GAME!!! Klayton had the ball with 40 seconds left and up by 1. He came off a screen and missed the shot. However, with 6.3 seconds left, he stole the ball from their post player on a double team (I wasn't even controlling either of those players.)
He was immediately fouled and nailed both FT's. We win 63-60 in an upset on the road!
Klayton was our most steady shooter in the 2nd half and we let him shoot a fair bit. He had 17 points on 4 of 10 shooting. He also had 1 board, 3 assists, and 2 steals, along with 2 turnovers. He was able to penetrate well against this PG, but this collapsed in the lane and it made it hard for him to get assists.
Daley was our 2nd leading scorer with 11 points on 3 of 10 shooting.
Wilmont was hurt most of the game (but played for 24 minutes on the bum leg) and only had 2 points, 5 boards, and 1 block.
Chancler had 5 points and 8 boards.
One guy that is very interesting who won't see the stat sheet alot, but is earning more PT from me is Kirby Christopher. Kirby is from Toronto and he is a 6'9 240 pound SF. He isn't very fast and he is a poor shooter who is limited offensively (he missed a dunk in this game as well) but he is an excellent defender and he really cooled off their best shooter, a SF. So much so, that I played him over my usual starter at SF down the stretch. Kirby finished with 4 points on 2 of 5 shooting. He also had 4 boards, 1 assist, and 2 steals. The man he was guarding ended up 6 of 17 shooting after starting out 4 of 6.

My previous PG's couldn't penetrate for anything. Klayton is proving to be excellent at beating his man and getting him into foul trouble.

Our next game is at Richmond which is very similar in talent level to ours.
We barely eek out a win in overtime. 75-72. Klayton had 7 points, 6 assists, 1 block, 1 steal, and 5 turnovers. He shot 3 of 7.
Bingo Wilmont had 20 points, 16 boards, 4 assists, and 2 blocks. He shot 9 of 22 from the field.
Garik Chanceler was our 2nd leading scorer with 14 points, 4 boards, and a block in just 16 minutes.
That win puts us at 8-1 on the year. By far, my best start ever.
Our next game (which I'm not sure when I'll have time to play - maybe tomorrow - definitely by this weekend) is at Syracuse in what is sure to be a very tough matchup as they are rated 88 overall.

To clarify this quote, I've had a SG for the last 3 years (but just graduated) who was the star of my team. He was a poor outside shooter, but he was an excellent at dribble penetration and finishing around the hoop. Some guards/SF's with a good handle and good speed can be excellent at dribble penetration.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe it's just me but, without a pump fake or something, that's one phase of the game that I could never get to work. Anyway, interesting stuff. Keep it up.

I use the pump fake a bit, particularly with a very good outside shooter. However, most of my guard penetration comes off either isomotion crossovers, screens, or hesitation drive moves. Occasionally, I just beat a guy with pure turbo and making a cut with no isomotion move.
However, I've read that the Xbox version and 360 version play quite differently. I'll definitely have a new entry this weekend as I plan on getting in a few games.

Syracuse's 88 rating on defense is the best we've faced all year. Their PG Rashod McCully is quick and has good size 6'2 190. He is also a very good defensive player. This should be a tough match for Klayton and the rest of my team. Their SF Christopher Ebi is a potential All-American. If he gets going, we'll try our freshman SF to slow him down.
I thought I was in deep trouble in the beginning of the game when Syracuse quickly got up 11-2 at home in the first 5 minutes. Their starting PG Rashod McCully was virtually unstoppable and Eli was hitting his first 3 shots. However, over the next 5 minutes Klayton managed to get Rashod into foul trouble and then Eli! By 10 minutes in, he had their starting PG, SG, and SF on the bench with foul trouble as he was dribble driving past them.
By then, he was exhausted and we brought in the bench. We were down by 12 with 10 minutes to go in the half. Our bench simply crushed their bench and we were up by 1 at half. Of particular note, was Freshman SG Chad Daley who I may have underestimated. He could be a very good running mate for Klayton in future years. He had 8 points in the 1st half ad 11 in the game to be our 2nd leading scorer.
However, Garik Chancler was huge during that time too as he was cleaning the boards and scoring. He ended the half with 7 points and 5 boards. Garik ended the game with 10 points and 13 boards.
In the 2nd half, Klayton took over the game to widen our lead and get their starters into further foul trouble. We had a 10 point lead with 8 minutes to go, but Klayton was exhausted.
Their starters returned and lit us up. I thought for sure we were losing the game. Rashod went off for 10 points in a row and before I knew it we were tied with 3:40 to go.
Then, I brought Klayton back in. He drilled 2 3's off screens and then two jumpers on our next 2 possessions. That was all we needed to pull off a huge upset at Syracuse!!! We won 77-69.
Klayton had his highest point total of his career with 27 points. He also had 3 boards, 3 steals, and 4 turnovers. 0 assists was the only downside to his game, but he really won this game for us. He did it on 8 of 13 shooting (3 of 6 behind the arc) and 8 of 11 shooting from the FT line.

Our next simulated game is our easiest on the schedule - Hosting NJIT.
They are rated 65 and should be overmatched against us.
We beat them 72-49, but Klayton has a bit of foul trouble this game. He ends up with 9 points, 3 assists, 4 steals, and 2 turnovers in 27 minutes.
Backup PG Daniel Baldwin was the leading player statistically with 13 points, 5 boards, 4 assists, and 1 steal along with 4 turnovers.
We are now a surprising 10-1 going into our conference schedule. We'll be starting off with 2 very winnable games next week.
Eaglesfan27

Our next game is a conference game at home against James Madison. They are one of the weaker teams in the CAA this year with young talent that isn't cohesive yet. They are only ranked 74 overall and we should beat them by a good margin.

Interestingly, they came out in a big lineup with a 6'8 SF at SG and a 6'9 SF at SF. I'm not sure if they have been doing this every game or used it just for us. It sort of worked as they got starting senior SG Zach Koger in foul trouble within 5 minutes. However, Chad Daley took complete advantage of his first real playing time with our starters. Klayton set him up with a few nice assist. Chad was our leading scorer with 11 points, 1 assist, and 2 steals in the first half.
Klayton had 10 points, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 0 turnovers in the 1st half.
Starting Junior SF Louie Brown showed that he belonged in the starting lineup still as he had 6 points (he is a good outside shooter), 4 boards, and 4 steals in the 1st half.
They did get Wilmont in foul trouble too, but that didn't stop us from dominating the 1st half.
All of this led to a 37-19 lead at halftime.
With 9:33 left and a 33 point lead, I remove Klayton and most of our other starters from the game.
Klayton's line: 21 points, 8 assists, 2 steals, 1 board, 1 block, 1 turnover. 7 of 10 shooting, 2 of 4 from 3 point range, 5 of 6 from the line, 3 fouls, 22 minutes played.
We won the game 76-46. This is the first team I've had that I think could make some noise in the tourney if everyone stays healthy.
Chad Daley, my next highest recruited freshman, had 15 points which was 2nd on the team. He also had 3 steals, 2 assists, and 1 block along with a turnover. He did shoot 4 of 11.
Louie Brown had a great game to cement his status as the main starter at SF. He had 14 points, 9 boards (lead the team), 5 steals, 2 assists, and a block on 5 of 9 shooting.
Our next simulated game is at Hofstra and they are about equal in talent to our team:
We get blown out 80-49. Klayton was the leading scorer with 12 points. He also had 3 assists, 3 steals and 3 turnovers. He shot 4 of 6 from the field, 2 of 4 from behind the arc, and 2 of 2 from the line.
Bingo Wilmont was the only other guy in double digits with 11 points and 7 boards.
We are now 11-2 as we go into 2 of the tougher weeks of our conference schedule.
Our next game (which is the last one I'll play until this evening as I need to study for my boards) is at Towson. They are slightly less talented and don't have as good of team unity. Also, their PG is their weakest player and they are undersized. We should be able to beat them by a comfortable margin.
Eaglesfan27
04-14-2007, 01:06 PM
Even though they are undersized, they matched up well with good quickness and Klayton had trouble penetrating.
Halftime score of 25-18, we lead.
We never really pulled away by more than 6 until the last 2 minutes when we had a 11 point lead at one point. Yet, we never lost the lead either. 61-52 win for us as we held them to 26% shooting, but only shot 39% ourselves. Klayton shut his man down completely. Big win for us on the road.
They had good enough quickness that Klayton couldn't penetrate, but he played a lot of pick and roll with Bingo Wilmont and also came off some screens from other guys.
Klayton's Line: 14 points, 5 assists, 1 board, 7 turnovers. 4 of 8 shooting. 2 of 3 behind the arc. 4 of 4 from the FT line (all from intentional fouls at the end of the game.) 24 minutes played.
Bingo was huge: 17 points, 11 boards, 6 blocks. 7 of 11 shooting (including a few 14 footers, I forget that he has good range from outside too.)
Chad Daley was ice cold on 2 of 11 shooting and might start losing a few shots from the bench if he doesn't play better next game.
Our next game is a tough simulated game hosting George Mason. They have been the class of the league the last few years (along with Old Dominion.)
We lose a heartbreaker 59-58. Klayton had 12 points, 5 boards, 2 steals, and 2 turnovers on 3 of 10 shooting (1 of 7 behind the arc) and 3 of 3 from the line.
Our Sophomore PF from New Brunswick, NJ, Monwell Sargent has a good outside shooting range for a PF and he had 14 points to lead the team. He also had 2 boards, 2 assists, and a steal. He shot 5 of 15 from the field.
We are now 12-3. Our next game is at James Madison. They are 3-12 and we beat them 76-46 just last week.
Eaglesfan27
04-14-2007, 11:30 PM
This is the best defensive team I've ever coached. Certainly, James Madison has proven they don't have much offensive talent and they played big against us again. However, we just held them to 15% shooting in the first half and held them to 6 points for the first 15 minutes before we got sloppy.
Since we got sloppy, we are up 30-15 at the half on the road. Klayton has 9 points, 2 assists, and a steal at halftime.
Our offense never really clicked, but our defense bailed us out.
52-38 win today. We held them to 22% shooting, but only shot 35% ourselves.
Klayton was our leading scorer and our leading assist man with 11 points, 6 assists, 2 steals, and 4 turnovers. He shot 4 of 12 from the field, 1 of 5 behind the arc, and 2 of 2 from the line.
Garik Chancler was huge off the bench with 10 points and 14 boards. The Sophomore will be our starting C next year.
Kirby Christopher was great defensively again and had a block this game.
Our next game is a sumulated game at a very good Fairfield team that is currently 12-3.
We lose 58-54. Senior SG Zach Koger had 22 points, 4 boards, and 4 assists but it wasn't quite enough.
Klayton had 3 points, 4 boards, and 4 assists on 1 of 8 shooting.
Our next game is at a good VCU team that is underperforming and is only 5-9. We are 13-4 and need to get this win as we have Old Dominion coming up next.
Eaglesfan27

What a terrible first half, they were nailing 3's all over.
Down 48-24 at the half. Klayton has 4 points and an assist at the half as their PG is fast and is smothering him.
We went to a VERY high tempo offense and a constant trapping defense. It almost brought us back, but they won 92-85. They hit 12 of 27 3 pointers which is the most anyone has hit on us in a long time.
Zach Koger thrived in the high tempo offense nad he had 21 points, 1 assist, and 1 steal on 9 of 13 shooting.
Klayton Meyers had 17 points, 4 assists, 1 reoound, and 2 turnovers. He shot 4 of 10 from the field, 2 of 5 behind the arc, and 7 of 7 from the line.
Chad Daley was our 3rd leading scorer with 11 points on 3 of 7 shooting.
Our simulated game is hosting Old Dominion. They are currently 13-3 and are ranked 15th in the polls. They have a 87 rated team and should be hard for us to beat.
We get lucky and pull off the upset, 73-70.
Klayton had 9 points, 6 assists, and 1 steal. His ratings continue to rise as the season progresses.
Koger had 25 points on 8 of 14 shooting.
Louie Brown had 10 points and 12 boards at SF.
Our next game is hosting Towson. They are 11-8 now. We beat them 61-52 at their place a few weeks ago, and I expect to win this one as well.
Eaglesfan27

They are playing us very tough this time as our 3 point defense is failing again...
Down 37-30 at the half.
Our defense wasn't that good this game, but they were big down the stretch as Bingo had a key block with just under 2 minutes to go that ignited a run that turned a 3 point deficit into a 5 point lead. That held up and we won 72-67.
Bingo had 16 points, 11 boards, 2 steals and 2 blocks. He shot 6 of 9 from the field.
Klayton had 15 points, 3 assists, 2 boards, 1 steal, and 1 block. However, he shot 4 of 15 (0 of 5 from the arc.) He was 7 of 7 from the line.
SF Louie Brown had 9 points, 8 boards, 2 assists, 3 steals. He shot 4 of 7 from the field.
Our simulated game (and last game of the night) is hosting VCU. Hopefully, my stratgies work better in the sim then when we last played them.
We played them closer, but lost 77-76.
Klayton had 4 points, 3 boards, 3 steals, and 7 assists.
Koger had 25 points on 6 of 16 shooting (4 of 10 behind the arc.)
Bingo had 20 points, 7 boards, 3 assists, and a block.
Our next game (to be played tomorrow most likely) is at a very good Northeastern team that is rated 86 in talent, but is underperforming and is only 12-8.
We are now 15-6 and have the 2nd best record in the conference behind Old Dominion.
Also, we are ranked in the Mid Major Poll for the first time I've noticed! We are 7th!
Our RPI is 49th.
Klayton's 12ppg average leads our team. It is also 12th in the conference and 1st among freshmen.
Bingo's 8 rpg is 4th in the conference.
Klayton's 4.9 apg is 2nd in the conference and is 1st among freshmen.
Klayton's 1.7 spg is 5 in the conference and 1st among freshmen.
Bingo's 1.5 bpg leads the conference.
Klayton's 33% shooting from behind the arc is 15th in the conference and is 4th among freshmen.
Right now, Klayton looks like he has a good chance to win my first conference freshman of the year award.

Both offenses were operating very efficiently and quickly in the 1st half.
40-40 at the half.
Bingo has 11 points and 11 boards at the half!
Klayton has 6 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals but is 2 of 11 from the floor at the half.
Wow. Klayton was on fire in the 2nd half after an ice cold first half. Klayton hit 3 quick outside jumpers including a 3 where he was fouled and made a 4 point play. That opened up the lane a bit as they guarded him much more tightly and he beat his man a few times.
The end result: 25 points, 7 assists, 5 steals, 2 turnovers. He shot 9 of 18 from the field (7 of 7 in the 2nd half.) He was 2 of 6 behind the arc. He was 5 of 8 from the line.
Thanks to him, we pulled off the upset. 81-71.
Bingo finished with 20 points and 15 boards along with 3 blocks. He shot 8 of 15 from the field.
Koger finished with 13 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals on 4 of 12 shooting.
Our simulated game is at home against a solid Georgia State team. They are 12-10 coming into while we are 16-6. We win 69-67.
Bingo Wilmont finished with 22 points, 10 boards, and 2 blocks. He shot 8 of 16 from the field and 6 of 7 from the line.
Klayton was in foul trouble and only played 17 minutes and had 2 points and 2 assists.
Daniel Baldwin took advanctage of the increased playing time with 17 points, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 3 boards.

Our next game is at William & Mary. They are 6-15 on the year. They are rated 77 overall (4 points lower than us) and have much worse team unity. This should be an easy win for us:
Great first half for our entire team. Our bench players outplayed theirs and so did our starters. As a result, we are up 47-25 at the half.
Bingo has 12 points and 8 boards on the half. Quite a few of his points were set up by Klayton passes for easy dunks. He is 6 of 6 from the field.
Koger has 11 points at the half.
Klayton has 4 points and 6 assists at the half. He is shooting 1 of 4 from the field.
We were ice cold for the first 12 or 13 minutes of the 2nd half and they pulled within 2.
However, our team came to life at the end and we won 71-64.
Koger led us with 15 points, 4 boards, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
Klayton had 14 points, 8 assists, and 1 steal. He shot 6 of 13, 0 of 2 behind the arc, 2 of 2 from the line.
Bingo finished with his 12 points and 12 boards along with 2 blocks. He shot 6 of 8 for the game.
Kirby Christopher had a good game for him offensively and finished with 8 points, 3 boards, 3 assists, and 1 block.
We remain 7th in the Mid Major Poll. They are 4 CAA teams in the top 10, including Old Dominion and UNC Wilmington at 2 and 3. George Mason is just behind us at #8.
Our RPI is up to 40 with a 18-6 record.
We lose a tough simulated game at Georgia State as Klayton and Koger were both in foul trouble early. Klayton only played 17 minutes and had 0 points, 1 assist, and 1 steal.
We lost 56-52 and our leading scorer was Chad Daley with 8 points. Daniel Baldwin had 7 points, 8 boards, and 5 assists off the bench at PG.
We are now 18-7. Our next game is at a good Hofstra team that is currently 16-8.
Eaglesfan27
04-19-2007, 09:54 PM
Hofstra has GREAT Team Unity at 92, the best I've ever seen. They also have more talent.
Despite that, we stay close through most of the 1st until they pull away with a 10 point lead with 5 minutes to go.
However, Klayton comes back onto the court with 4 minutes left and makes a few key plays to pull us within 3. First, he hits a jumper for 3. Then, a minute later he has a key steal and alley oop to Koger!
He hits another big jumper with the half winding down to pull us within 3.
Most importantly, he drew a 3rd foul on their starting PG :)
34-31 at the half. Klayton has 8 points, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 1 board. He is 2 of 5 from the field.
With their starting PG in foul trouble, Klayton was dribbling into the lane at will in the 2nd half. That led to a big 2nd half for us as he was kicking it out (even Kirby Christopher hit a 3 off of one of his assists!)
We won 79-55 as Klayton had 19 points, 11 assists, 4 steals, 2 boards, 3 turnovers. He shot 6 of 13 from the field.
Koger had 23 points, 3 steals, and 1 assist as he really benefitted from Klayton's passes out to him behind the arc. He was 9 of 15 and 4 of 7 behind the arc.
In our simulated game, we face a very talented Northeastern team at home.
We win 70-56! Klayton had 10 points, 4 assists, and 1 steal. He was 3 of 7 from the field (2 of 5 behind the arc.)
Louie Brown was the leading scorer with 16 points. He also had 6 boards.
Bingo Wilmont had 15 points and 8 boards along with 3 blocks.
That win gives us 20 wins and 7 losses on the year so far with 2 regular season games left. That is the fastest I've hit 20 wins in a season (I had a 21-10 record my 1st year at Drexel.)
We are now 6th in the Mid Major Poll as we enter the final week of the regular season.
Our RPI is now 36th. I wonder if we can make it even if we don't win our conference tourney. Hopefully, I won't have to find out.
Hmmmm... the media experts do not have us on the bubble! in fact, they currently are projecting that we'll be in the 9-12 seed range!
Let's not choke it away down the stretch (which I'll play tomorrow night.)

It would be a snub of Syracuse-esque proportions for a 20+ win team with an RPI of 36 to be left out of the big dance. Don't get bounced in the 1st game of your conference tourney and you should be just fine.

Our next game is at Delaware. They are currently 11-16 but have solid talent across the board. In particular, PG Rashun Spencer is one of the best in the conference ratings wise.
We couldn't stop their offense in the first half and we are down 38-27 at halftime.
At halftime, Klayton has 2 points, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 0 turnovers. He is 1 of 4 from the field.
We chipped away at the lead for the first 10 minutes as Klayton came out on fire. We finally got a 53-52 lead with 8:49 left.
Then, it was back and forth. However, With 4.9 seconds left, Kirby Christopher had a key offensive rebound and Klayton hit 2 big FT's after they fouled to give us the 68-64 win on the road!
Klayton had 15 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals on 6 of 14 shooting (1 of 4 behind the arc, 2 of 4 from the line.)
Koger was off tonight with 5 of 17 shooting, but still managed 16 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals. He was 6 of 8 from the line.
Bingo Wilmont had 11 points, 11 boards, 2 assists, and 2 blocks.
Off the bench, Kirby Christopher contributed 5 points and 5 boards in only 10 minutes.
Our final regular game of the season is a simulated game hosting William and Mary. They are 8 and 17 and have lesser talent. We should beat them handily.
We win 75-60! However, we lose Chad Daley for 19 days to a back injury :(
Bingo Wilmont had 15 points 8 boards and 1 block.
Klayton fouled out and only played 10 minutes!
Daniel Baldwin had 15 points, 9 boards, and 6 assists off the bench at PG.
We finish the season 22-7. Surprisingly, we just inch out Old Dominion for the Regular Season Conference Championship!!!!! That is my first time winning a regular season Conference Title.
We are now 4th in the Mid Major Poll. Interestingly, Old Dominion remains #1 in the poll.
We've earned the bye for the 1st round of our conference tourney!
In the 2nd round, we end up getting Northeastern who we beat by 10 and 13 points during the regular season. I'll be playing out all postseason games.

VERY rough start to the game. We missed our first 10 shots and they hit theirs! 23-0 lead as a result after 8 minutes.
The injury to Daly and how badly my defense was playing made me to turn to Rodrigo Rodgers a 6'7 220 pound SG from Cupertino, CA. He is very raw and lacks technical abilities but his length along with Kirby helped us start getting stops.
By the half, we have chipped the lead to 46-30, but we still have a big hole to climb out of.
Klayton has 4 points and 1 assist at the half. He is shooting 2 of 9 from the field.
I ran and gunned a lot in the 2nd half as well as trapping. It enabled us to cut the lead to 7 at one point, but we never got closer.
To add insult to injury, Klayton was injured in the 2nd half.
Final Score: 79-70.
Klayton finished with 13 points, 3 boards, 3 assists, and 4 steals. He shot 6 of 19 :(
Koger finished with 22 points on 4 of 13 shooting with 13 of 15 shooting from the line.
Bingo finished with 12 points and 13 boards.
Northeastern edged out George Mason in the next round 54-53. They lost to Old Dominion 65-48 in the tourney final.
Now to watch the selection show to see if we still make it in...

Hmmm. We are not listed as being on the bubble, but 21-10 George Mason is.
#1 seeds for 2012: Kansas, Florida, Texas A&M, and Pittsburgh.
We are in the East!!! We got a #9 seed and will play 8th seed Air Force first!!! Unfortunately, this means we will be facing Kansas in our 2nd game, most likely.

Air Force is rated 2 points higher overall, but we have slightly better team unity.
We have a huge advantage in size and skill at C. Their PG is very good and should be a tough matchup for Klayton who is still Day to Day with his ankle injury.
Very solid first half for Klayton and the team. 29-24 at the half.
Klayton has 9 points and 2 assists at halftime.
They were within 3 with 40 seconds to go. Bingo ran to the perimeter and had a huge block of a 3 point shot attempt. Klayton got the ball and was fouled. Klayton hit 4 straight FT's down the stretch and we won 64-55!
Klayton was our leading scorer with 18 points. He also had 3 assists and 2 turnovers. He shot 5 of 13 from the field. 1 of 2 behind the arc and 7 of 8 from the line.
Bingo finished with 12 points, 11 boards, and 4 blocks.
Daniel Baldwin had 8 points and 3 assists.
Kansas beat UNC Asheville 94-63. As a result, we will be playing Kansas for the opportunity to advance to the Sweet 16. I don't like our chances. Kansas has the best talent ranking I've ever seen! 97 for overall talent. 99 for offense. 96 for defense. 94 for team unity. If their lead gets over 40 points, I'll probably just sim to the end...

Sheesh. Their freshman point guard is rated 90 for talent! I thought Klayton's 74 was good.
Their senior SG is 6'7 250 and is rated 90 overall in talent. Their junior SF is 6'8 220 and is rated 92 for talent.
Their junior PF is 6'10 250 and is rated 91 for talent. Their senior C is 6'10 280 and is rated 82 in talent. Bingo is up to 78 at this point in his development and that is the only position we are even close.

That Jayhawk chant is VERY annoying. The game is in Chicago and the crowd really seems pro Kansas.
WOW! Klayton was demolishing their press in the 1st half. He is simply faster than their PG and SG. As a result, he was setting up Bingo with easy shots and he had 14 points. Klayton had 5 points and 8 assists in the 1st half.
Meanwhile, they had a very hot start shooting, but we managed to cool them off with a 1-3-1 zone in which we trapped a lot and created turnovers.
We have a 52-39 lead at the half (we got about 20 of those on quick baskets when they were pressing full court and we were breaking it.)
I can't believe it! We rode out that big early lead (that was built thanks to Klayton breaking their press.) We win 85-81! What an upset!
Bingo finished with 25 points, 12 boards, 2 steals, 4 blocks. He shot 11 of 14 from the field.
Koger finished with 15 points, 2 assists, 5 steals. He shot 6 of 8 from the field.
Louie Brown had 13 points, 5 boards, 3 steals. He shot 3 of 8 from the field.
Sophomore PF Monwell Sargent had 13 points, 3 boards, 1 assists, and 2 steals. He shot 6 of 7.
Klayton finished it off as all 5 starters hit double digit point totals. Klayton had 10 points, 12 assists, 3 steals, and 3 turnovers. He shot 3 of 9 from the field.
Daniel Baldwin chipped in 10 points, 2 boards, 3 assists, and 1 steal off the bench.
Rodrigo Rogers played very good defense off the bench and had 3 boards, 1 steal, and 1 assist.
Kirby Christopher also played some nice defense and chipped in 3 boards and a steal.
Sweet 16!

Now, we play Kentucky. This is a team that I find us much more likely to upset than Kansas. They are rated 89 overall with 87 on offense and 90 on defense. They also have excellent team unity with 92. It's going to be a very tough game, but after slaying Kansas, I like our chances if guys are hitting shots.
Their Junior PG is "only" rated 82. He is 6'0 190. Klayton's ratings are now up to 75 (he gained another point.)
Their Senior SG is rated 82. He is 6'4 220. Not a bad matchup for Koger who is rated 79.
Their freshman SF is rated 82. He is 6'6 200. Louie Brown is only rated 73. He is 6'6 226.
Their senior PF is rated 84. He is 6'10 240. A bad matchup for Monwell who is only 6'8 216 and only rated 76.
Their senior C is only 6'10 250. He is rated 76. A good matchup for Bingo who is 7'1 245 and is rated 79 now.

In the first half, they did the 2 things that a team must do to defeat us.
They double teamed Bingo and shut him down completely and they denied penetration to Klayton. Theirs guards are very fast and he just can't beat them.
They also generated a lot of steals with that speed.
Down 39-20 at the half.
Klayton has 6 points, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 4 turnovers at the half.
We played a GREAT 2nd half. We were within 3 with 2 minutes left, but we just couldn't get a stop. We went into intentional foul mode once we got under 30 seconds left, and they nailed 8 of 8 FT's at the end of the game and that was enough to get them the win.
78-74 loss.
Klayton was running off screens the entire 2nd half and he finished with 21 points, 4 asssits, 4 steals, and 6 turnovers. He shot 9 of 16 from the field, 1 of 2 from 3 point, and 2 of 2 from the line.
Koger finished with 18 points, 3 steals, and 1 assist on 7 of 14 shooting.
Bingo had 7 points, 10 boards, and 2 assists. He was 3 of 8 from the field.
Now the big question: If I get an offer from a power conference team do I leave Klayton?

Kentucky upset North Carolina 59-55 in the Eastern Bracket Final.
Kentucky was beat by Wisconsin in the first game of the Final Four 67-56.
Connecticut won the National Championship 72-55.
Gregg Coleman of Louisiana Tech won the Mid Major Player of the Year. The JR SG had 21.6 ppg, 6.5 rpg, and 2.4 apg this year.
Billy Gillispie won Coach of the Year for taking Texas A&M so far this year.
Blaine Taylor at old Dominion stole the Coach of the Conference Award from me.
Mitch Lalugba, a SR C at UNCW won the conference player of the year award. He is rated 85 overall and averaged 14 ppg and 9.1 rpg.
Klayton Meyers won the Conference Freshman of the Year Award!!! His final averages for the year: 11.9 ppg, 4.8 apg, 1.9 spg, 1.0 rpg.
Bingo Wilmont was selected 2nd team All-Conference: He averaged 12.5 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.1 spg, and 1.5 bpg for the season.
Bingo wasn't drafted :(
Bingo and Koger are the only guys that left the team to graduation.

Texas Tech is hiring (because Bob Knight retired in 2012,) but I'm not rumored to be on their list. Instead, they hire the head coach from Marist.
Syracuse hires (because Boeheim retired) Southern Illinois's coach instead of me.
Southern Illinois wants to hire me, but I see no reason to leave Drexel for what would be a lateral move at best.
I get offered 5 other mid major jobs including Indiana State and James Madison. None of them are good enough to make me leave Klayton.
My athletic director is thrilled with the job I'm doing.
We don't get any transfers.
We also don't lose any players to transfers.
As recruiting starts, we lose the Star SF from Cincinatti to Dayton.
The next week, we get a distant backup plan as everyone else was going other places:
SF Andy Archibong is ranked 512th overall and 99th among SF's. He is a 2 star recruit from Plantation, FL. I had him as a backup plan because our coaches believe he has an excellent mid range jumper and we need more mid range jump shooters.
That fills all of our scholarships so I can start working on the juniors again.
Duke had the best class with 3 All American's that are all 5 star athletes.

A summary of our starting 5 as well as key bench players (trying to figure out who should be the key bench players):
PG Klayton Meyers 6'2 (he grew an inch) and 180lbs, So. - The star of this mini-dynasty and clearly my best player. He is our best jump shooter, has very good speed, and is our best passer.
SG Chad Daley 6'4 184, So - I'm not sold on him, but he is our 2nd best shooter from 3 point land. An ok midrange shooter.
SF Louie Brown 6'6 231, Sr. - He is the 2nd best midrange shooter on the team and is the most complete SF.
PF Monwell Sargent 6'8 218, Jr. - He is the 2nd highest overall rated player. Undersized, but he has a good post game. Very quick for a PF. Good rebounder. Is a good midrange shooter.
C Garik Chancler - 6'10 252, Jr. - Not nearly as talented as Bingo. He has a decent post game. No range, unlike Bingo. He also isn't nearly as good at blocking as Bingo was.
Starting C? Alvin Hite 6'11 270, Fr - A redshirt Freshman who improved significantly during his redshirt year. He is almost as talented as Garik now. His range is even worse, and his post offense is raw, but he is a better FT shooter, a better dunker, a much better blocker, and an overall slightly better defender. He doesn't rebound quite as well as Garik. He is faster, but our coaches think he may be already approaching his potential..
Duncan (maybe I've been calling him Daniel?) Baldwin PG 6'2 217, SR - Arguably the 3rd most talented player on our team. A good defender, a good passer, a decent 3 point shooter.
PF Lamar Roy - 6'9 217 Sr. - A decent backup PF.
SF Andy Archibong, Freshman - Should he be the primary option off the bench at SF? He is a good shooter from midrange according to our coaches, but is somewhat limited in other parts of his game. If I played him it would mean less time for Kirby Christopher whose size I like. Should I redshirt him?
SG Bronski Montague, JC So - A solid 3 point shooter. I'm more sure about redshirting him to let him develop an overall game.
SF Kirby Christopher, So - 6'9 242 - Very raw player. Improving his offense around the basket. A barely adequate passer. Has decent ball handling skills though. Very good perimeter defense player. Good speed for his size and is getting quicker.
I'm going to redshirt Andy and let Kirby be the primary option at SF off the bench.
SG Rodrigo Rodgers, Jr. - 6'7 220 from Cupertino CA. He didn't play much last year but his size presents challenges to perimeters. Is a good blocker. I'll probably use him quite a bit more this year since I'm redshirting Bronski. He'll probably be our primary option at SG off the bench...
Except if we play Daniel at SG and play this guy at PG:
PG Calvin Stapley 6'0 198, Jr. Very raw. However, I played him some two years ago, and he changed games with his top end speed. He is the fastest guy on my team and can penetrate. However, he has a terrible jumpshot. He can't hit 3's for anything. He has a very good dribble but is a mediocre passer for a PG. However, he is a dynamic perimeter defender if not oversized. If I need more offense from the 2nd unit, we'll probably play him and Daniel alongside each other at times.
Our schedule was created by our AD, I didn't modify it at all.

Our first game of the year is at home over a Monmouth team that is significantly less talented than us. We should beat them easily. I'm stating Garik at C, but will get Alvin plenty of PT. Whoever performs better the next few games will be our starter for the following week.
Complete domination by us in the first half. 49-17 lead. Meyers has become an elite stealer as well as an offensive weapon.
Klayton's stats at the half: 10 points (3 of 4 shooting), 4 assists, 4 steals, and 2 turnovers.
At least this game Alvin Hite is winning the battle for the starting C job.
Each played 10 minutes (Hite played mostly against 2nd stringers, but also played with 2nd stringers)
Hite: 8 points, 5 boards on 3 of 5 shooting.
Garik Chancler: 2 points, 2 boards on 1 of 4 shooting.
With a 74-27 lead and 10 minutes to go, I take out all of my starters.
Klayton's line: 20 points, 7 assists, 5 steals, 1 rebound, and 3 turnovers. He shot 7 of 10 from the field, 1 of 2 behind the arc, and 5 of 5 from the line. He did this in 24 minutes.
Daley proved himself for at least this game. Thanks in part to Klayton's assists, he had 22 points, 2 assists, 4 steals, and 3 turnovers. He shot 8 of 12 from the field, 3 of 5 behind the arc, and 3 of 5 from the line. He also played 24 minutes.
In 20 minutes, Garik Chancler only managed 2 points and 2 boards on 1 of 6 shooting. He'll be off the bench next game while Alvin will start.
Game over. 88-46 win for us. :)
Alvin Hite finished with 10 points and 5 boards on 4 of 7 shooting.
Rodrigo Rogers surprised me and hit a 3. He finished with 9 points, 3 boards, and 3 steals.
Monwell Sargent had 10 boards along with 6 points.
Our Simulated Game is against UALR. They are a decent team that is comparable in talent.
We beat them 66-64. Klayton finishes with 18 points, 4 assists, and 2 boards. He shot 6 of 12, 2 of 5, and 4 of 5.
Chad Daley finished with 9 points and 3 assists on 4 of 12 shooting.
In the simulated game, I forgot to adjust lineups and Garik started. He had 11 points and 8 boards in 33 minutes on 2 of 8 shooting.
Off the bench in 16 minutes, Alvin had 0 points and 6 boards with 0 of 1 shooting.
Next up, we face the #13 team - Clemson.
Eaglesfan27
04-21-2007, 05:01 PM
Clemson is rated 91 overall, 92 offensively, and 91 defensively. This would be a big upset.
When Klayton was on the court, we broke their press and played very well. When he wasn't, we were minus 12 mainly due to the press.
Down 36-33 at the half.
Klayton's line at the half: 15 points, 4 assists, 2 turnovers. 6 of 12 shooting. He played 16 minutes (due to that -12 when he was off the court) and is a bit tired going into the 2nd half.)
They were just too good for us when Klayton wasn't on the court.
72-63 win for Clemson.
Klayton's final line: 21 points, 3 boards, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 4 turnovers. He shot 9 of 23.
Garik Chancler did well off the bench with 8 points and 9 boards along with 2 assists and 3 steals.
I suspect whichever C goes against backups is going to do well. I'll give Alvin the start in this next sim game and unless he does well, the starting job goes to Garik for the next few weeks.
In our simulated game, we have a very surprising loss to Middle Tennessee, 71 to 48.
Klayton had 11 points, 4 assists, 1 boards, 2 steals, and 1 block. He shot 4 of 13.
Chad Daley had 3 points on 1 of 12 shooting.
Alvin Hite only had 4 points along with 9 boards on 2 of 4 shooitng. Garik Chancler had 7 points and 7 boards in limited time off the bench. He'll be our starter for the foreseeable future.

They made 3's and we didn't. That was the key in the first half.
38-30, they lead.
Klayton has 7 points, 2 steals, 0 assists at the half.
While Garik is the starter, I'm playing whoever is hot the most. Alvin hit a few shots late in the 1st half, so he started the 2nd.
Good move by me as he exploded in the next 10 minutes! A few of those points were due to Klayton assists, but he was making guys look foolish on his own. He has more bulk than Bingo and he is really pushing guys around, plus he injured their starting C.
He was a big reason why we got the lead and we kept it, even though it was close most of the way.
Klayton hit 4 of 4 huge FT's down the stretch when they intentionally fouled him.
74-71 win.
Klayton finished with 14 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals. He was 2 of 15 from the field, 0 of 4 from the arc, and 10 of 12 from the line.
Alvin Hite, the freshman C, finished with 24 points, 8 boards, and 2 assists. He was 8 of 8 from the field and 8 of 9 from the line.
Daley had 7 points and 8 boards.
Garik had 7 points and 10 boards. We really miss Bingo's blocking ability.
We host St. Louis for our simulated game and win 75-61.
Klayton had 18 points, 6 assists, and a block in the win. He shot 5 of 10 and 3 of 6 behind the arc along with 5 of 6 from the line.
Daley had 15 points on 6 of 8 shooting.
Louie Brown had 12 points and 8 boards.
Garik Chancler had 5 points and 9 boards.
During the weekend, at the first possible time to sign, we get a Star SG from Philly! We beat out St. Johns for him ;)
Christano Watson is a 6'1 185 pound SG who is ranked 227th overall in the country and 55th at the position. He is a 3 star player. According to my staff his best attribute is his close shot and stealing ability. He has very good quickness and looks to be a slasher type of player. He also has a decent mid range shot.
Our next game is at Loyola which is a few points below me in overall talent.

Back and forth in the 1st half. We lead 31-30.
Daley has 10 points.
Klayton has 6 points and 1 assist on 1 of 8 shooting.
It was a close game until my bench came in for the last 10 minutes of the 2nd half..
I trapped and pressed with Rodrigo and Kirby and their length created quite a few turnovers and bad shots. That helped fuel a 18-4 run that gave us the win.
74-51 win.
Daley was our leading scorer with 20 points on 7 of 14 shooting. He also had 2 boards and 2 assists.
Klayton had 15 points, 2 boards, 2 assists, 1 turnover. He shot 4 of 17 from the field.
Monwell Sargent and Garik Chancler each had 6 points and 10 boards.
Alvin Hite had 6 points and 6 boards.
In the simulated game against a decent VCU team, we won 79-57!
All 5 starters were in double digits. Klayton had 11 points, 2 boards, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks. He shot 2 of 8, 1 of 6 behind the arc, and 6 of 7 from the line.
Daley led all scorers with 15 points.
Garik had 11 points and 11 boards.
Our next game (to be played tomorrow) is at North Carolina (ranked 5th in the polls.) What was our AD thinking?
Eaglesfan27
04-22-2007, 11:06 AM
We can't seem to stop North Carolina from scoring, but we are hanging in with perfect execution of our offense. Klayton also managed to help get their starting PG and C into foul trouble which has certainly helped.
43-41 at the half, we are down.
Daley has 11 points on 4 of 7 shooting.
Klayton has 9 points, 2 steals, and an assist on 2 of 7 shooting, 1 of 1 behind the arc, 4 of 4 from the line.
Things were going nicely with a 49-49 game and 11 minutes left. Then North Carolina started playing like I expected them to play and like I expected Kansas to play in the Tourney...
Suffocating defense, quick crisp offense, it all led to a 36-8 run!
They beat us 85-59. I was just going to play one game because I need to study today, but I have that just one more turn phenomenon going on.. I'll play one more game then study.
Daley led us with 14 points on 4 of 14 shooting.
Meyers had 13 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals on 4 of 15 shooting.
Our next simulated game is hosting Florida A&M. We have 6 points higher overall talent rating.
Wow. We blow them out 95-59 - my highest simulated score ever from my team.
Klayton finished with 18 points, 8 assists, 3 boards, 2 steals. He shot 6 of 11 from the field, 2 of 7 behind the arc, 4 of 5 from the line.
Louie Brown had 17 points, 6 boarads, and 3 assists.
Daley had 14 points, 3 boards, 3 assists, and a block.
Sargent had 15 points, 4 boards, 3 assists, and 1 steal.
Garik Chancler had 8 points and 8 boards.
We are now 7-3 and we host a Southern Miss team that is just slightly better than us talent wise.

04-22-2007, 12:18 PM
Strong first half in which we had a 14 point lead at one point.
We are up 42-33 at the half.
Daley has 12 points, Klayton has 9 points, 5 assists, and 4 steals (I'm not even controlling him to force these steals.. the guy is a great natural defender, or at least a great ball hawk.)
We win 72-63.
Klayton finishes with 21 points, 7 assists, and 7 steals. He also had 3 turnovers. He shot 8 of 14, 2 of 3, and 3 of 4.
Chad Daley finished with 15 points and 5 assists.
Louie Brown had 14 points, 3 boards, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
Monwell Sargent had 4 points and 14 boards.
Our simulated game is at home against a VMI team that is a notch below us in talent.
We win 79-62.
Klayton finishes with 19 points, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 2 turnovers. He shot 6 of 10, 2 of 2, and 5 of 6.
Chad Daley finished with 17 points on 7 of 12 shooting.
Louie Brown had 8 points, 8 boards, and 4 assists.
We are 9-3 going into our conference schedule. We face two of the toughest teams in the conference in Old Dominion and George Mason in the opening week. I'll get around to playing them next weekend or possibly sooner.
Eaglesfan27
04-27-2007, 06:37 PM
First up this week is a tough road game against George Mason. They are 8-4 and have their most talented squad in the last 2 or 3 years.
In particular, I'm worried about SR C Sidiki Opong who is 7'0 290 and has become a semi-skilled offensive player.
Also, their senior PG is Buster Haigler is bigger than most Klayton has faced while still having good mobility. He is 6'4 215 and talented. Should be a tough matchup.
Eaglesfan27
04-27-2007, 07:42 PM
They played better than us in the first half, and they drilled their 3's.
40-23 at the half. Haiglar has 13 points for them at the half.
Klayton leads us with 9 points, 2 assists, 2 turnovers. He is 4 of 8 from the field.
We pulled to within 10 behind an explosive second half by Klayton, but we could never get closer.
81-70 loss. They were 10 of 25 behind the arc and that cost us the game.
Klayton finished with 26 points, 3 boards, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 2 turnovers. He shot 10 of 21 from the field.
Louie Brown finished 11 points and 4 boards.
Monwell Sargent finished with 10 points, 7 boards, and 4 assists.
Our simulated game is at home against Old Dominion, arguably the best team in the conference.
We pull off the upset 58-55!!!
Klayton finished with 7 points, 6 boards, and 6 assists. He shot 2 of 3 from the field.
Monwell Sargent was the leading scorer with 15 points, 5 boards, 2 assists.
Next week, we have 3 games, but they are all against slightly inferior teams talentwise. First up is a road game at Delaware which is a point below us in talent.

04-27-2007, 09:52 PM
Sloppy first half has us down 38-30.
Klayton has 6 points, 0 assists, and 1 turnover at the half. He is shooting 2 of 6.
We never really clicked like we should have defensively. 88-80 loss to a 3-8 team that we should have beat even if we were on the road :(
We were outrebounded 38-23 and that was a big reason we lost.
Klayton finished with 23 points, 3 boards, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 1 turnover. He shot 8 of 17 from the field, 6 of 11 behind the arc, and 1 of 2 from the line.
Daley finished with 18 points.
In our simulated game, we host a William & Mary team that is 7 points below us in talent rating. We win 81-65.
Klayton had 11 points, 3 boards, 3 assists, and 1 steal.
Daley led all scorers with 17 points and he had 8 assists.
Our last game of the night is hosting a James Madison team that is 5 points behind us in talent. I really shouldn't blow this game.

I have been playing 2k7 and after getting a feel for playing, I took over UCR. Made the Sweet 16 my first year, but that was with 7 Juniors! I graduated my top two players and another one also left. My juniors suck though and this team blows...
Sad stuff. I dislike recruiting in this game...

Another sloppy first half. Down 36-31 as our defense just isn't clicking.
Klayton has 9 points, 1 assist, and 3 steals.
Rodrigo Rodgers is our surprising leading scorer with 10 points, mostly on fast break dunks.
Playing my two C's together was a key to turning it around in the 2nd half... and letting Klayton go off!
74-62 win thanks to Klayton putting up a career high 34!
He also had 1 assist (I need more outside shooters for him), 1 board, and 6 steals. He had 0 turnovers. He hit 13 of 24 shots.
Rogers was our next leading scorer with 10.
Daley had 8 points on 2 of 11 shooting.
We are 6th in the Mid Major Poll despite being 0-8 vs the top 25 this year so far.
In our simulated game, we play at VCU who is slightly less talented.
Despite that, we lose 71-66. Klayton led the team with 14 points and 5 assists but was 4 of 13 from the field.
Daniel Baldwin had 16 points off the bench.

On another note, I was quick playing a UCLA dynasty and I ended up with a SF who was 6'7 270. The dude was a beast

Makes sense. It is hard enough to fill 3 or 4 when you are still at the bottom rung type school. Once I moved to Drexel, recruiting has become quite a bit easier (although 4 star recruits still seem to be out of my grasp.)

One game this morning before the draft:
We play at a slightly less talented Georgia State team.
Klayton was hurt early, but he did great when he came back and led the 2nd stringers to a huge run.
47-30 at the half.
Klayton has 12 points (4 of 7 shooting), 2 boards, and 2 assists.
78-60 win.
Alvin Hite had a good game again with 15 points and 9 boards.
Klayton finished with 15 points, 2 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 1 turnover. He shot 5 of 12 from the field, 1 of 4, 4 of 4.
We host Towson in our simulated game.
We win 74-73! Klayton finished with 16 points, 7 assists, 3 boards, and 2 steals.
Daley had 16 points and 3 assists.

Our next game is at a solid Northeastern team that is slightly more talented than us.
At halftime, we are down 37-30 as they are nailing their 3's. Klayton has 11 points and 1 steal. 0 assists or boards.
A near perfect 2nd half offensively as we ran the fast break quite a bit more, Klayton hit his shots when we were in a set offense, and we played decent defense.
We win 86-69.
Klayton finished with 35 points, 5 assists, 2 boards, and 2 steals. He shot 11 of 17 from the field, 3 of 5 behind the arc, and 10 of 11 from the line.
Daley was 2nd on the team with 16 points.
Louie Brown had 13 points, 6 boards, and 4 assists.
Klayton has improved another point in his base overall rating. He is now rated 79 which is the highest on my team. He is improving the most in his shooting, awareness, and passing.
Our simulated game is hosting a 11-8 Hofstra team. We win 84-75.
Klayton finishes with 23 points, 4 assists, 2 steals, 2 boards, and 2 blocks. He shot 5 of 13, 2 of 4, and 11 of 12.
Daley and Brown each had 13 points.
Our next game is at a 7-13 James Madison team that is less talented than we are.

04-28-2007, 10:44 PM
A solid first half has us up 37-29.
Meyers has 9 points, 2 assists, and a steal at the half.
Despite a slightly off night from Klayton, we win 69-63.
Klayton's offnight was 18 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals. He was 6 of 16 from the field, 1 of 7 behind the arc, 5 of 7 from the line.
Daley had 19 points on 8 of 16 shooting.
Our simulated game is against one of the top teams in the conference at their place - Old Dominion.
We lose 63-62. Klayton had 4 points, 8 assists, and 3 blocks along with a steal. He shot 2 of 10 from the field.
PF Monwell Sargent led the team with 23 points and 9 boards.
We remain 6th in the Mid-Major Poll. Old Dominion is down at 10th now!
We are 17-7 with a RPI of 54.
We are 1st in the conference (Old Dominion is 3rd now behind George Mason.)
Our Final Game of the night is against a 13-10 Hofstra team on their court. They are about equal in talent.

We are down 36-31 at the half. Klayton has 10 points and 2 assists.
We didn't hit shots down the stretch and they did. 82-75 loss.
We were 2 of 14 behind the arc. They were 10 of 27.
Klayton finished with 29 points, 3 assists, 1 board, 1 steal, 1 turnover. He shot 9 of 23, 2 of 8, 9 of 11.
Daley had 13 points on 5 of 14 shooting.
In our simulated game, we host Georgia State. We play great and win 65-33.
Klayton had 6 points, 5 boards, and 6 assists on 2 of 6 shooting.
Louie Brown led us with 14 points, 5 boards, and 2 assists.
We are now 7th in the Mid Major Poll.
We are 18-8, but our RPI is 60th.
Right now we are on the bubble and projected to be out of the tournament. We'll need to play well these last 3 regular season games and in our tourney after that.
Eaglesfan27
04-29-2007, 12:33 PM
Our Final Played out regular season game will be hosting a weaker Delaware team. Since, I have an odd number of games, I'll sim the last game.
A near perfect 1st half at home. Up 45-23 thanks to amazing play by Klayton.
His line at half: 19 points, 4 assists, 2 steals, 0 turnovers. 7 of 10 shooting, 2 of 2 behind the arc, 3 of 3 from the line.
With a 72-31 lead, I pull my starters with 10 minutes to go.
Klayton's line: 28 points, 8 assists, 4 steals, 2 blocks, 1 board, 0 turnovers. 11 of 15 shooting, 2 of 3 behind the arc, 4 of 5 from the line. 25 minutes played.
THIS is how I need to see my team play more. I told them to bring high defensive pressure (everyone marked as tight coverage) and we played GREAT. 101-39 win. Our defense ignited our offense all game long.
Baldwin had 16 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals off the bench,
Meyers, Hite, Rodgers, and Christopher each had 2 blocks!
Christopher also added 4 steals with his tremendous wing span.
Our simulated game is hosting a very good UNC Wilmington team.
We win 72-50!! Klayton had 25 points, 4 assists, 2 boards, and a steal. He shot 10 of 18, 3 of 5, 2 of 2.
Daley and Brown each chipped in with 11.
That win gives us 20 for the year.
Our final game of the year in the regular season is a simulated game at a 17-10 Towson team.
We lose a heartbreaker 60-58.
Klayton finished with 12 points, 5 boards, 6 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, but 4 turnovers. He shot 5 of 9, 2 of 3, 0 of 0.
Louie Brown led the team with 15 points and 8 boards.
We've dropped to 11 in the Mid Major Poll. Samford from the Ohio Valley is 1st with a 25-4 record.
George Mason is above us in the poll from our conference.
Our RPI is 63rd.
The experts believe we need to win our conference tourney to advance to the tourney.
George Mason won the Regular Season title by 1 game over us.
We did get a bye and will face Hofstra at home in the 2nd round. We split in the regular season against them.

Another excellent first half for Klayton Meyers: 11 points, 4 assists, 4 steals, and 1 turnover. He is 4 of 6 from the field, 1 of 2 from beind the arc.
We are up 43-31 at the half.
Our offense was hitting shots all game, and we won 87-77.
Klayton racks up the assists when Daley and company convert his passes like today.
Klayton's line: 20 points, 10 assists, 4 steals, 5 turnovers. 7 of 14 shooting, 1 of 3, 5 of 6.
Daley had 20 points on 7 of 10 shooting.
Sargent, Christopher, and Baldwin each had 9 points.
Next up will be a very tough game at Old Dominion.
Eaglesfan27
04-29-2007, 03:48 PM
Halftime: Down 33-26. We desperately need another outside shooter/3 point shooter.
Klayton is being well guarded and our offense is suffering. He has 4 points, 2 assist, and a steal. He is 2 of 7 from the field.
Wow. What a game for Kirby Christopher. I played him early in the 2nd because the game was getting out of hand, and he helped turn it around. He ignited a 20-3 run with great defense and great finishing on the break.
Also, when he was on the court for 14 minutes of the 2nd half, we held them to 10 points. In the 6 minutes, he wasn't on the court, they scored 13 points.
72-56 win thanks to our most important bench player.
Kirby Christopher led our team in scoring with 17 points on 7 of 8 shooting (mostly dunks on fast breaks, he still is a horrible outside shooter.) He also had 3 assists, 3 boards, 2 steals, 2 blocks, and countless other shots that he made his man miss with pressure.
Klayton finished with 14 points, 4 assists, 2 steals, 1 board, and 1 turnover. He shot 5 of 11, 2 of 3, 2 of 2.
Alvin Hite who has gained a few pounds during the season finished with 11 points, 8 boards, and 2 blocks.
In the Conference Tournament Final, we'll play UNC Wilmington which got their 20th win against George Mason in the other Semi-Final. They won 74-59. I'll be playing that possibly later tonight or more likely next weekend.

Having some unexpected time to play the conference championship. Our matchups favor us against UNC Wilmington at every position except SG where they have a significant advantage.
A back and forth defense oriented 1st half ends with a run by their SG that gets them a 31-24 lead at the half.
Daley has been making him work though. Daley leads the team with 11 points, 2 boards, 1 assist, and 1 steal. He is shooting 3 of 6 from behind the arc.
Klayton has 2 points, 3 assists, and 1 steal at the half. He has shot 1 of 2.
3 factors led to our loss today:
- Klayton missed a dunk and a layup when we were only down by 3 with 2:30 to go.
- Daley missed 2 big 3's down the stretch despite being open.
- We failed to hit our FT's. Even Klayton had a subpar day for him from the line.
70-64 loss.
We made 22 of 36 FT's.
Klayton finished with 16 points, 4 assists, 4 turnovers, 0 steals, and 1 block. He shot 3 of 12 from the field.
Daley finished with 15 points, 4 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 4 of 10 shooting.
Their star 6'2" SG finished with 23 points on 5 of 15 shooting.
Now to see if we somehow sneak into the tourney:
Greg says we are officially on the bubble. At least, we are being mentioned.
Top 4 seeds: Duke, Alabama, Oklahoma State, and North Carolina.
We aren't in the first 3 brackets :(
Only 1 CAA team made it this year: UNC-Wilmington :(
The Big East had the most teams with 8. Big 12 had 7, ACC had 6, Big Ten and SEC with 5 each. Pac 10 only had 3.
Eaglesfan27

Cool! It said we were out during the bubble summary, but we are actually one of the play-in teams! We go against 18-11 Appalachian State! Of course, if we win, we'll play Duke in the first round :(
Edit: Nevermind, the Appalachian State is our first NIT game.

Applacian State is a less talented team that we should beat easily. We outclass them at every position.
38-26 lead at the half.
Klayton has 15 points, 4 assists, and 1 steal. He is shooting 5 of 8 from the field.
With 8 minutes to go and a 26 point lead, I pull my starters. 71-45 lead at that point.
Klayton has 21 points, 10 assists, 2 steals. He shot 8 of 12, 1 of 3, and 4 of 4.
83-51 win.
Daley finished with 15 points on 6 of 9 shooting, 1 of 2, 2 of 5.
Louie Brown had 13 points, 4 boards, and 2 steals. He shot 3 of 5 from the field, 1 of 2, 6 of 6.
Our next game is against St. Mary's who beat Clemson 74-62.
I'm anxious to finish up the NIT and the season to see what awards Klayton won. Since it is only the NIT, I sim the game and win 79-64.
Klayton finished with 10 points, 6 assists and 2 blocks. He shot 4 of 12.
Baldwin led the team with 20 points. Daley added 19.
Our regional final is against Oakland. They are a significantly less talented team that we outclass at each position. I'll play this game out and the final 4 if we make it there.

Klayton injured his ankle last game which is why he played limited minutes and Baldwin was able to score so many.
Despite being slowed by the injury, Klayton and the team have a good 1st half against Oakland.
36-18. Klayton has 6 points, 5 assists, and a board at the half. He is shooting 3 of 5.
62-42 win. Due to injury Klayton only played 19 minutes. He had 7 points, 9 assists, 1 board, 3 steals, and 3 turnovers. He shot 3 of 5 from the field.
Daley led us with 12 points. Louie Brown and Sargent each had 10 points and 7 boards.
We held them to only 24% shooting. That might be our best all season.
In the final four, we will face Delware State first. If we win, we'll face the winner between Old Dominion and Vanderbilt.
I'll finish this up tomorrow during study breaks.

We have a significant talent edge oer Delaware State and should beat them easily.
A solid first half as we take a 37-27 lead.
At the half, Klayton has 6 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals despite being slowed with his injury.
Daley leads the team with 11 points on 4 of 6 shooting.
The next 9 minutes Klayton had 9 of his best minutes ever, despite being injured. He was just dominating his man defensively and playing the lanes perfectly which led to a huge run. We also trapped a lot and he made the steals.
With 11 minutes left and a 75-33 lead, I remove my starters.
Klayton's line: 28 points, 8 steals, 4 assists, 1 turnover. 10 of 14 shooting, 2 of 4, 6 of 6.
92-45 win advances us to the NIT Championship.
Daley was our 2nd leading scorer with 23 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals. He shot 8 of 14 from the field.
Louie Brown had 11 points, 8 boards, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
Old Dominion beat Vanderbilt 61-48 in the other semi-final and should present a much stiffer challenge.

In the NIT Final, we play Old Dominion. They are the 1st team in the NIT to actually have a slightly better talent rating. Still, I like my chances in this game as long as we can slow down Deron Domercant, their star SF.
Great start as Louie Brown, Klayton, and Daley each hit their first 3 to give us a 9-3 lead.
Louie Brown is trying to end his career in style. He's on pace to have a career high day in his last game for us.
16 points for Brown at the half on 5 of 9 shooting. He hasn't his 3's all year, but he is today.
38-23 lead at the half as our defense is playing great once again.
Klayton has 3 points, 3 assists, 1 steal. He has shot 1 of 2 from the field.
Louie cooled off in the 2nd half, but he hit 2 key shots down the stretch. We win the NIT 64-59.
Louie finished with 20 points, 2 boards, 2 assists, and 3 turnovers. He shot 7 of 18.
Klayton had 9 points, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 1 turnover. He shot 3 of 8.
Daley had 14 points on 5 of 9 shooting.
I'll miss Louie, but hopefully our redshirt freshman will be a more consistent shooter (although I'll probably start Kirby Christopher at SF for his strong defensive presence and have the redshirt be the main offensive option off the bench.

Arizona wins the National Championship beating UConn 58-55.
I won Conference Coach of the Year!!!
Klayton Meyers wins the Conference Player of the Year!!!!! My first player to do that.
He averaged 17.4 ppg, 4.8 apg, 2.4 spg, 1.5 rpg, and 0.5 bpg this year.
Louie Brown, Daniel Baldwin, and Lamar Roy are my 3 important players that graduated. Backup SF Scott Newman also graduates.
Rutgers has a job opening, but they don't want me.
Santa Clara does and they have a talented team, but that is a lateral move so I pass.

2 of my to ptargets choose other teams :(
7'0 C Armond Bremer chooses Arkansas State over us. Not surprising as he was from Arkansas, but I really liked him and thought we might have a chance.
6'5 SG Bronski Kole chooses Marist over us.
Kris Azubuike, a 6'4 194 pound SF from Toronto just signed with us! He is a 3 star player ranked 242 overall (45th among SF's.) He is another very good medium shooter. HE also is a good hustle player.
Miles Alvarez, a 6'5 175 pound SF from Trenton, NJ just signed with us. He is a 3 star player rated 430 overall (90th among SF's.) He is a slasher who is a good free throw shooter.
We have 1 more scholarship left.
In the last week of recruiting, we get a good PF in Austen Quick. He is from Hamilton Ohio. He is 6'6 209. He is a 3 star player a good rebounder despite his diminutive size for the position as he is an excellent leaper. Also, a good shooter. He is ranked 344th overall (84th among PF's.)

I decide to redshirt early signee SG Christano Watson (he needs to grow a bit more), Austen Quick (ditto), and Miles Alvarez (who already shot up another inch but would be buried on the depth chart.)
Kris Azubuike looks so good to our staff that I decide not to redshirt him. He'll play some backup SG/SF as needed. He is probably the 3rd best shooter on our team.
Our starting 5:
PG Klayton Meyers - Now a junior. one of the highest rated players in the conference with an 81 overall. His 93 handle is the best on my team by a wide margin. 89 speed is 2nd best on the team. 84 in medium and 3 point shooting.
SG Chad Daley - Barely going to hold onto the job. He is being pushed by a few shooters who might be better. Rated 73 overall and I think he might have his max. Could lose the job later this year.
SF Kirby Christopher - Not the most talented, but has great size and wingspan. 6'9 250. His defensive rating is on par with Klayton's on the perimeter.
PF Monwell Sargent - Put on 10 pounds during the offseason! Now 6'8 226. Rated 80 overall. 2nd best shooter in my starting 5.
C Alvin Hite - Grew an inch and put on some more weight. Now 7'0 277 pounds. His size makes up for the slightly lower overall rating compared to Garik. He is also the best shot blocker on my team. Rated 73 overall.
Bench:
Garik Chancler - 6'10 260. Will play a lot of PF and C. Rated 75 overall.
Kris Azubuike - 6'5 196. My staff wants the SF to start right away. As it is, he avoids the redshirt and will plenty of SG/SF off the bench. He is the 2nd best shooter on the team behind Klayton.
Andy Archibong - 6'6 205. The Redshirt Freshman is the next best shooter on the team. Rated 66 overall. He might have his glory off the bench stolen by Azubuike.
Jorge Dunleavy - 6'8 243. He'll provide more size than Roy off the bench at PF. This Sophomore may be maxing out already. Rated 67 overall.
Bronski Montague - 6'4 205. Not as good of a shooter. More of a slashing SG/SF. May not get much PT.
Rodrigo Rodgers - 6'7 228. His main position is SG, but will play SG/SF as needed. Will primarily be on for defense. May not get much PT. Rated 59 overall.
I only changed 1 game on the schedule. I got rid of our 1st creampuff and added Rutgers at their place. I wanted to boost our potential RPI a bit while giving a winnable game.

Rutgers is only slightly more talented than my team.
Klayton should matchup very well with their PG.
Rodrigo played more in the 1st half than planned. I think he plays well at SF to give us an extra defensive presence on that unit.
In fact, during the 1st half, I felt like I had the perfect balance of very good shooters and very good defenders. We are dominating a good Rutgers team.
46-24 at the half.
Daley hit his first 4 3's and he has 12 points.
Azubuike has 10 points and 3 steals off the bench.
Klayton has 8 points and 4 assists at the half on 3 of 6 shooting.
We were 9 of 10 from behind the arc.
I never expected to do this well against Rutgers. With 8 minutes left and a 30 point lead, I pull my starters.
84-48 win! I think this team could be very special.
We held them to 34% shooting. We were 16 of 24 from behind the arc!!!
Daley had 21 points on 7 3 pointers. He was 7 of 11 behind the arc.
Klayton had 19 points, 7 assists, 2 steals, and 1 turnover. He was 7 of 12 from the field, 5 of 7 behind the arc.

Alvin Hite had 10 points, 7 boards, 4 assists, 2 blocks, and a steal. He was 4 of 8 from the field and intimidated some other inside shooters.
Kirby Christopher forced a lot of misses (including 2 airballs.) He had 6 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, 4 steals, 1 block, and 1 turnover. He was 3 of 4 from the field.
Archibong had 5 points on 2 of 5 shooting. He was 1 of 2 behind the arc.
Our simulated game is at #11 Marquette. We lose 77-70, but I'm happy we hung in.

Today we play at Villanova. They are only slightly more talented than us in ratings, but their PG is a superstar that will be tough on Klayton. We have a size and talent advantage inside.
We had a 9 point lead at one point, but it is chipped down to only 2 at the half. 33-31.
Klayton is doing much less early in the game because he has more options. 2 points, 5 assists, 1 steal, 1 turnover. 1 of 3 shooting.
Daley has 11 points on 3 of 4 shooting, 2 of 3 behind the arc, 3 of 4 from the line.
Kirby Christopher is so important because not only is he big, but he has 85 speed and covers a lot of court. He is making them miss shots.
Also, Alvin Hite is showing his tremendous presence. He is also above average in speed for his size and has become a terrific blocker. 5 blocks in the 1st half!
A convincing quality road win for us today. 70-60.
We held them to 34% shooting while shooting 46% ourselves.
We had 14 team blocks!
Klayton finished with 18 points, 8 assists, 2 steals, and 3 turnovers. He shot 7 of 15, 0 of 3, 4 of 4.
Kirby Christopher is becoming a lethal finisher on the fast break. He was 2nd on the team with 14 points on 6 of 8 shooting, 2 of 3 from the line. He also had 9 boards, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.

Klayton has gained another point of ability according to our staff.
Today we play at Fairfield. They are rated a fair bit less than us and this should be an easy win.
Halftime: The bad news: Hite was in foul trouble and our defense suffered. We've given up 40.
The good news: Our offense has been amazing. 51-40 lead.
Klayton has 16 points, 1 board, 1 asssit. He is 5 of 7 from the field, 1 of 1, and 5 of 6. But, he isn't our leading scorer.
Azubuike is having a break out game off the bench: 17 points on 5 of 8 shooting, 4 of 6 behind the arc, 3 of 3 from the line. He did that in 9 minutes off the bench.
They made it close, but Klayton hit 2 big shots down the stretch to maintain our lead.
79-74 win.
Klayton finished with 26 points, 4 assists, 1 board, 2 turnovers. He shot 10 of 14, 1 of 2, and 5 of 6.
Azubuike cooled off. 19 points on 6 of 13 shooting, 4 of 8, and 3 of 3.

Hite finished with 8 points, 8 boards, 2 assists, and 3 blocks.
Sargent had 12 boards and 4 points.
As soon as any recruit can sign, we get our first recruit! A potentially great PG to replace Klayton when he leaves. Wil Fletcher is 6'2 177 and he is a 3 star PG from Philly. He is rated 167 overall, 31st among PG's (higher than Klayton.) He doesn't have a good shot like Klayton, but he is a tremendous slasher with great speed, great defense, leaping ability, and has good potential.
Our simulated game is hosting Delaware which is a weaker team. We win easily 83-54!
Unfortunately, Azubuike breaks his ankle :( He will miss 6-8 weeks.
Klayton had 27 points, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 1 board. He shot 8 of 12, 2 of 4, 9 of 10.
Azubuike had 8 points off the bench. I think he might have won conference freshman of the year if he didn't break his ankle.
Alvin Hite had 13 points, 10 boards, and 2 blocks.
Our next game is at a slightly better Georgetown team.
Eaglesfan27
05-11-2007, 10:35 PM
Georgetown has a better SG, SF, and PF, but Klayton and Hite are better than their starting counterparts.
Great 1st half for us. 37-29 lead over Georgetown.
Klayton is having a great game. 9 points, 3 assists, 1 board, 2 turnovers. 4 of 6 shooting.
Back and forth throughout the game. Tied 70-70 at the end of regulation as Klayton misses a fade away jumper as time is expiring.
Klayton with 2 big shots down the stretch and Hite hit 2 big FT's. 82-76 win in OT!

05-12-2007, 04:04 PM
Despite having more talent and significantly more size, we are only up 33-27 over Wisconsin - Green Bay.
With Azubuike out, Archibong has become the #1 option off the bench for offensive scoring. He leads the team with 9 points on 4 of 6 shooting.
Klayton has 6 points, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 1 turnover. He is 1 of 3 from the field.
I never thought this would be a close game, but we were down by 6 with 2 minutes to go. Then, Klayton took over. 2 3's in a row tied it. A great dribble drive dish set up Daley for a 3 to get us the lead. Then, he hit 6 of 6 FT's down the stretch as they were intentionally fouling.
68-64 win.
Klayton finished with 25 points, 4 boards, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 2 turnovers. He shot 7 of 15, 3 of 6, 8 of 8.

We are 9-1 going into this game at VT. They are 7-4. They are 7 points higher in overall talent.
Klayton is actually ranked higher than their starting PG.
However, they have a size and talent advantage at every other position (except SF where Kirby is bigger than his man.)
Hite gets their starting C into foul trouble early!
They get Sargent and Klayton into foul trouble early and it is looking bad for us.
Things got ugly when our backup PG's were getting killed by the full court press, but we manged to stay within 10 and with 5 minutes left Klayton came in. The tempo turned around as he can beat his man off the dribble.
44-40 lead at half.
Klayton with 9 points, 3 assists, 3 steals. 4 of 10 shooting.
Kirby Christopher with 8 points, 2 boards, 1 steal, and 1 block.

We host George Mason in the simulated game and lose 57-52.

Despite the loss, a 14-2 record advances us to 23 in the media poll! We are still unranked in the Coaches' Poll.
We remain #1 in the Mid Major Poll.

This has again inspired me to start back up. I have decided to play as Stetson. One thing I notice is that coming down the stretch you can almost FEEL the other team on a charge to catch up. I had this sink me vs FSU but I somehow managed to survive vs UF and win by 4 in their house. My guards were in the 50's trying to fight it out. It probably saved me because I couldnt run up the court and shoot an ill advised shot too early in the shot clock
Eaglesfan27
05-20-2007, 11:31 PM
I've noticed that if I don't manage fatigue very carefully, those late charges can happen. I rarely let any of my player get below 70 energy level and I generally rest them so they are about 90 for energy in the last 4 minutes. Of course, this is easier to do now that I have a deep bench with a good backup at every position. I really think this team has a shot to go to the final 4 this year.
Edit to add: I can't wait to see if Klayton is good enough to get drafted after his senior year, next year. If he does, I'll probably sim through some of the NBA 2k7 seasons just to get to the point where he is drafted and try to get him on my Sixers (assuming I haven't been fired by then.)

Halftime of the James Madison game is 38-37, they lead. We are both shooting over 50% and it's been hard to stop their jump shooters.
Klayton played some with Azubuike and Archibong and the 3 were nearly unstoppable.
Klayton's stats at the half: 3 points, 3 boards, 7 assists, 1 steal. 3 turnovers. He shot 1 of 3.
Archibong and Azubuike each have 6 (on 3 pointers) at the half.
That was a disaster of a second half. We couldn't stop their 3's all game no matter what we did. Meanwhile, we had 5 minutes where we were scoreless.
85-65 loss on the road.
Klayton had 14 points, 11 assists, 5 steals, 4 turnovers, and 3 boards. He shot 6 of 17,
Daley had 14 points on 5 of 10 shooting.
Archibong had 11 points on 4 of 10 shooting.
Azubuike shot 3 of 12 and only had 8 points.
Kirby Christopher had his worst game defensively and offensively: 0 points, 1 board, 3 assists, and 0 steals or blocks.
With the loss, we drop to 16th in the media poll.
Our simulated game is at a 13-12 Northeastern team that is less talented than us.
We lose 59-53.
Klayton shot 1 of 18! He had 7 points, 2 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals.
Sargent had 21 points and 8 boards.
Alvin Hite had 10 points and 14 boards.

I decide to talk to Klayton after the game to boost his confidence.
At 21-5, we drop to 24th in the media poll.
Our RPI is 13th.
Our next game is at Georgia State who are currently 17-10.

At Georgia State, our team is exploding out of their slump.
In particular, Kirby Christopher and Alvin Hite are playing like possessed men.
Kirby has 18 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, 3 steals, and a block at the half. He is shooting 7 of 9.
Hite has 9 points, 3 boards, 1 assist, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.
Klayton is slowed by a bum ankle, but he has 7 points, 3 assists, 2 steals. He is shooting 2 of 8.
I expect to pull my starters with 11 or so minutes left.
Halftime: 56-28.
84-67 win as we played a somewhat sloppy second half.
Kirby Christopher had his best game of his career: 27 points, 10 boards, 6 assists, 4 steals, 2 blocks. He shot 10 of 12. The 6'9 250 pound JR SF continues to gain in ratings this season too. He is up 4 points in overall since the start of the year.
Klayton appears to have hit his ceiling in ratings and the injury slowed him down: 7 points, 6 assists, 2 steals. 2 of 13 shooting.
Daley had 15 points, Hite had 12, and Azubuike had 11 off the bench.
We host UNC Wilmington to end the season in a sim game.
We lose 69-63 as Klayton had another off game: 9 points, 2 assists, 0 steals. 1 of 9 shooting.
Hite led the team with 16 points, 9 boards, 2 blocks.
Kirby had 5 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks.
The 22-6 record is enough to win the regular season Conference Title, but we drop out of the top 25.
We have a bye in the 1st round of the CAA tourney, but we play the pesky James Madison team in the 2nd round. That is the pesky team that recently beat us 85-65.

Halftime: 40-27 lead.
Despite the bad ankle, Klayton is leading us with 9 points, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 1 turnover. He is shooting 4 of 9.
In the 2nd half, Archibong and Kirby Christopher take over the game and lead us to an easy win. 83-60.
Kirby finished with 22 points, 9 boards, 3 steals, and 1 assist. He shot 8 of 13.
Archibong had 19 points on 7 of 10 shooting.

We held them scoreless again for the next 6 minutes before our starters got tired. 25-2 as I sub my starters out. Great team defense. Not many steals either, just plenty of really contested shots.
We are in complete control at the half. 48-15.
Kirby Christopher is leading the way with 17 points, 6 boards, 3 assists, 4 steals. He is shooting 7 of 8.
Klayton has 10 points, 3 assists, and a board. He is shooting 5 of 7.
Hite has 7 points, 4 boards, 1 assist, and a block.
Lots of guys with 2 or 4 points.
We held them to 18% shooting in the first half.
With a 45 point lead, I pull my starters with 12 minutes left.
The reserves play well and actually increase the lead slightly.
85-39 win.
We held them to 25% shooting for the game while shooting 52% ourselves.
Kirby led the way with 31 points (career high), 10 boards, 6 steals, 3 assists. He shot 13 of 16.
Azubuike had 12 off the bench.
Klayton had 10 points, 6 assists, 1 boards, 1 steal, and 2 turnovers. He shot 5 of 8.
Monwell Sargent shot 0 of 7, but had 11 boards for us.
We play a 17-12 Hofstra team in the CAA Championship Game. We beat them both times we played during the regular season. We are back up to 23 in the media poll.

We were in early trouble as Kirby got 2 quick fouls. However, Azubuike started nailing shots off the bench and our 3 big outside shooters all came alive. We eliminated a 15 point deficit and took a small lead.
Halftime: 43-37.
Klayton has 12 points, 2 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 turnovers. He is shooting 4 of 7.
Daley has 11 points on 4 of 7 shooting.
Kirby's foul trouble has limited him to 2 points, 1 board, 1 assist, and 1 steal.
We took over in the 2nd half as Kirby stayed on the court and played great as did the rest of our starting 5.
87-65 win for the Conference Title!
Daley led the team with 20 points on 7 of 12 shooting.
Alvin Hite had 18 points, 10 boards, and 4 blocks. The sophomore is going to be huge for us next year.
Klayton had 14 points, 7 assists, 2 boards, 2 steals, and 3 turnovers. He shot 5 of 14.
Kibry had 14 points, 3 boards, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.
Azubuike had 10 points and 3 assists.
Now to see what seed we get in the Big Dance.

We finished 24th in the Media Poll with a 25-6 record.
Duke is the most surprising bubble team with a 19-11 record.
Ohio State is also on the bubble with a 19-11 record.
The #1 seeds are West Virginia, Boston College, Wisconsin, and Kansas.
We have a #5 seed in the same bracket as Kansas! Our first game is one of my old foes, #12 UL Lafayette.
Duke is in as a 11 seed. Ohio State is in as a 12 seed.
It looks like we should have a very good chance to get to the sweet 16 at least. If we win the first game, we play either Marquette (4) or CS Fullerton (13).
After that, we'll be playing either Kansas, Yale, Richmond, or Virginia.
I'll probably play the first 2 games tomorrow during study breaks.
Eaglesfan27

Surprisingly, UL - Lafayette has a team that is just talented as we are and their team unity is almost as good. Our team rating is now 85 and our team unity is 98.
They have a tremendous PG and SG who have size and abilities. We have the advantage at both Forward spots and at C with Hite having 3 inches and 40 pounds on his man.
We started out cold offensively for the first 5 minutes, but our defense was great. Once our big men started scoring inside, it opened up everything on the outside.
Halftime: 38-17.
Klayton hit a 3 at the halftime buzzer from 30 feet out. He had 10 points, 3 assists, 1 steal. He shot 3 of 9.
Azubuike had 9 points and 3 boards off the bench.
Hite had 8 points, 4 boards, and 2 blocks in the first half.
Kirby Christopher didn't have any shots, but he had 5 boards and 2 assists.
We held them to 28% shooting in the first half.
A bad second half let them tie it at 61-61 with 1:20 left.
With 55 seconds left, Kibry found Klayton for an open 3 that he drilled.
We got a stop and got the ball back, but Klayton missed his next shot with 15 seconds left.
Kirby put pressure on the 3 at the buzzer and it was missed and we advance to the next round.
Klayton had 21 points, 5 assists, 1 steal, and 3 turnovers. He shot 7 of 18, 5 of 9, and 2 of 2.
Alvin Hite had 11 points, 8 boards, and 6 blocks. He shot 5 of 6.
Azubuike finished with 11. Kirby finished with 5 points, 6 boards, and 6 assists. He also had a block. He shot 1 of 3.
Our next game in Phoenix is against Marquette that beat CS Fullerton 69-50.
Marquette is significantly more talented than we are but their unity isn't as good. Their offense is rated 96 and they have some great 3 point shooters.
Eaglesfan27
05-26-2007, 04:09 PM
I forgot to mention we have another huge height/weight advantage with Hite at C.
A back and forth tough first half against a talented Marquette team, yet we lead 34-30 at the half.
Klayton has 9 points, 3 assists, 1 steal, and only 1 turnover. He is shooting 4 of 8.
Daley has 9 points on 3 of 4 shooting.
Hite has 4 points, 7 boards, and 2 blocks at the half.
Kirby has 0 points, 2 boards, 1 assist, 3 steals, and a block at the half. He is shooting 0 of 3.
It was a close tight game until about 5 minutes left, when our defense clamped down on their outside shooters as we were all refreshed and they were tired.
75-60 win.
We held them to 35% shooting while shooting 48%.
Daley led the team with 17 points on 6 of 12 shooting.
Klayton had 14 points, 7 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, and 4 turnovers. He shot 6 of 14, 1 of 3, and 1 of 2.
Hite had 10 points, 17 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks!
Kirby had 8 points, 7 boards, 1 assist, 4 steals, and 1 block. He shot 4 of 7.
Time for the sweet 16!
#8 seed Richmond upset Kansas 69-66! We are facing Richmond in the sweet 16!
Meanwhile #7 Arizona State upset #2 Arkansas in the other half of the bracket. If I win, I'll be playing either #7 seed Arizona State or #6 Stanford to advance to the Final 4.
Eaglesfan27

Richmond has the same talent level as we do and their unity is almost as good as ours.
However, their PG is MUCH less talented than Klayton and I could see a huge game here for Klayton. Their strength is at PF and C.
A back and forth game has us down 34-31 at the half.
Klayton leads the team with 15 points, 1 assist, and 1 steal. He is shooting 5 of 8.
Kirby has 9 points, 3 boards, 1 assist, and 2 steals.
They are shooting 55% so far, we are only shooting 34%.
It was tight all the way and at one point they had an 8 point lead, but we managed to get a 6 point lead by the time their was 2 minutes left in the game.
Down the stretch, they fouled a lot and we nailed 10 of the last 10 FT's.
82-78 win.
Klayton finished with 27 points, 4 assists, 2 steals, 1 board, and 1 block. He shot 8 of 17, 0 of 3, and 11 of 12.
Kirby had 24 points, 7 boards, 2 assists, and 2 steals. He shot 5 of 8, 0 of 0, and 14 of 15.
Arizona State beat Stanford 74-62. Arizona state has tremendous guard play and a 7'2 250 pound C who is about similar in talent to Hite. They will be tough. They also have much better bench depth than we do.
I'll play that later tonight.
Eaglesfan27
05-26-2007, 08:29 PM
Arizona State has the best team rating we've faced yet. They also have excellent unity.
Arizona State plays at a tremendous pace, but we are keeping up for now. However, I wonder if their depth will wear us out.
45-44, we lead.
Azubuike has been huge off the bench and he is our leading scorer with 11 points on 5 of 6 shooting.
Klayon has 10 points, 4 assists, and 2 turnovers. He is 2 of 6 from the field.
We needed to play a perfect game to win this one and Klayton came through big time down the stretch. Garik Chancler fouled out early in the 2nd half, forcing Kirby to play some PF for us late in the game and he did that well, too.
However, it was Klayton's clutch shooting down the stretch that propeled us to a 91-84 win as he hit his last 4 shots from the field.
Klayton had 29 points, 7 assists, 2 steals, and 3 turnovers. He shot 9 of 15, 1 of 2, and 10 of 10.
Kirby had 15 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, and a steal. He shot 5 of 8.
Azubuike and Archibong each had 13 off the bench.
Daley had 12. Hite had 8 points, 8 boards, 4 assists, and 2 blocks.
Sargent had 6 points and 10 boards.
We are going to the Final Four!!!
Klayton Meyers was named the offensive player of the week on the College Hoops show!! First time my team has ever been announced on the show.
Oklahoma State held Boston College to just 40 points to win 60-40 and advance to the final 4.
North Carolina destroyed Western Virginia and will be our opponent in the final 4 :(
The other final four contest will be Texas A&M vs Oklahoma State.
I'll finish the season tomorrow.

North Carolina (3rd seed) is the best team I've faced all year. 95 overall talent. 98 on defense. 92 unity (ours is 97.) This will be a very difficult game.
Clifford Chavez is a freshman PG is rated better than Klayton by 3 points.
Rhet Barron is a JR SG who is 6'7 220 pound player rated 91 (15 points higher than Daley.)
Chad Wainright is a a 6'4 180 pound freshman at SF that is rated 88 but will have a huge size disadvantage against Kirby.
Bernard Floyd is a 6'11 260 pound PF that is rated 88. He has size and talent on Monwell sargent.
Dave Munoz is a 7'1 245 pound JR C that is rated 86 which is 9 points higher than Hite who has gained 4 points this season.

We win the tip and Klayton nails his first shot! Good start. 2-0.
5 minutes in: We are up 8-7, but they just got a 2nd foul on Hite. Now, Garik Chancler is going to have to come up huge.. I'm worried.
9 minutes into the game: We are up 18-13 and Klayton is playing out of his mind. He has 16 points as he is drilling deep outside jumpers and drawing fouls while driving. But, he is exhausting himself and has to come out of the game.
Klayton couldn't get it going again when he came back in with 4 minutes to go.
Halftime: Down 40-33. Klayton has 16 points, 1 board, 1 assist. He is shooting 4 of 9, 0 of 0, and 8 of 8.
Archibong is second on the team with 5 points. Their defense is very tough.
15 minutes left in the game: Down 52-49. All of my guys came out nailing shots in the 2nd half. Monwell with 3 big ones.
10 minutes left: We started to go on a run mainly thanks to Kirby, but they responded. 62-59, they lead.
5 minutes left: Klayton was out for the last 4 minutes and the press caused some turnovers, but Azubuike and Kirby are making plays to keep us in it. 75-69.
1:13 left: Klayton has given it away a few times this last 5 minutes, but he makes a steal and breaks away for a dunk. Down 79-78.
Down 81-78, Klayton misses a 3 with 33 seconds left.
We foul and force a 1 and 1. They miss it. Klayton with a great dribble drive kick out, but Daley misses the 3.
Chavez hits both Ft's this time.
Klayton misses an open 3 and that seals it. 84-78 loss.
Barron led them with 24. Chavez had 22.
Klayton had 30 points, 4 assist, 4 steals, and 6 turnovers. He shot 7 of 18, 0 of 4, and 16 of 18.
Kirby had 14 points, 9 boards, 5 steals, and an assist.
Daley had 13 points.
Sargent had 8 points and 4 boards.
Hite only had 4 points, 5 boards, and 1 block.
Sargent is the only starter that should be leaving the team unless someone else goes early..

North Carolina beats Oklahoma State 73-60 to win the National Championship.
Klayton is robbed as Jud Estrada, a 6'7 220 pound SF from Hofstra wins the Mid Major Player of the Year Award (I thought Klayton had a good shot.) Jud's stats: 19 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.6 spg, and 1.1 bpg.
I win conference coach of the year.
Jud Estrada beats out Klayton for Conference Player of the Year.
Jitim Ramsdell of Old Dominion beats out Azubuike for Conference Freshman of the year. The 6'4 190 pound SG averaged 12 ppg, 3.5 rpg, and 2.4 apg.
Klayton is one the first team All Conference team at PG.
Chad Daley, Kirby Christopher, and Alvin Hite are on the second team All Conference team.
Azubuike is on the All Conference Freshmen Team at SF.
Sargent, Garik Chancler, Rodrigo Rodgers, Calvin Stapley, and Turner Sherman all graduate from the team.
U Conn needs a new coach as Jim Calhoun has retired, but I'm not on their short list.
Iowa has me on their short list which is the first time I've appeared on a big conference team's list, but they don't offer me the job.
Butler and George Mason are the best teams to offer me a job this year, but those are a lateral move at best. I turn them down along with a bunch of other job offers.
Drexel adds 3 years to my current deal.
I replace one of my assistants with a better teacher.

The very first day possible, we get our most sought after recruit to sign!
Howard Terry is a 6'8 237 pound PF from Duluth Minnesota who is ranked 282 overall and 71 among PF's. The 3 star player is a tremendous hustle guy with the highest potential of any recruit I've had besides Klayton. He has a very good chance to start as a freshman with Monwell's graduation.
With both of our scholarships handed out, I can start working the juniors in earnest.
Now, that he is on campus, Howard Terry looks much worse than what we thought when we were recruiting him. I'm not sure he'll ever become a star, but he is probably the best option at PF with Dunleavy getting significant time if he struggles.
Our starting 5 will remain the same except with Terry starting at PF. We'll talk more about some of the new bench players as the year goes along.
Our first game is against Stetson which is a significantly weaker team in the Pre-Season NIT Tourney.
Eaglesfan27
05-27-2007, 07:01 PM
First 10 minutes: Terry is looking good as he has hit a few 10 foot jumpers. Our defense is smothering them. 26-9.
With 9:30 left, Redshirt Freshman PG Wil Fletcher gets his first playing time. He'll likely win the job as the main backup PG behind Klayton this year. We didn't have a true PG playing backup last year.
Fletcher is a fast player with a decent outside shot and very good passing ability.
Azubuike also enters the game. He appears to be winning the job at backup SF over Archibong who will probably only play when we need to make up a deficit.
Fletcher nails his first open 18 foot jumper.
5 minutes left: Up 31-14. Some sloppy plays by Fletcher in the last few minutes, but that can be expected of a freshman.
Christiano Watson, my highly touted SG from last year and now a redshirt freshman, steps on the court for the first time at SG. He is undersized, but our scout thinks he is the best backup SG on our team and one of the best bench players overall. He doesn't have a great outside shot, but it is good. He is a good defender and quick.
Austen Quick also steps on to try to win the backup PF job. The 6'6 226 pound redshirt freshman from Ohio is a very good rebounder for his size. He also has a decent 8-10 foot jumper.
Watson drills his first shot from 16 feet out despite being fouled.. he fails to convert the 3 point play.
Halftime: Up 40-18.
Klayton has 8 points, 2 steals, 1 board, and 1 assist. He is shooting 2 of 5.
Kirby has 8 points and 3 boards.
Terry surprises with 8 points, 2 boards, 1 assist, 2 steals, and a block.
Hite leads the team with 6 rebounds at the half.
Some very sloppy play in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half let them go on a quick 14-2 run, but then we tightened it up.
With 10 minutes left, 58-39 lead.
78-55 win.
Howard Terry had a very nice debut and certainly earned another start at PF. He had 14 points, 11 boards, 2 assists, 4 steals, and a block. He shot 6 of 10.
Alvin Hite had 15 points, 10 boards, 2 assists, and 3 blocks. He shot 6 of 8.
Klayton had 14 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals. He shot 4 of 9.
Kibry had 12 points, 5 boards, 1 assist, and 1 steal.
Daley had 3 points on 1 of 8 shooting.
In his debut at backup PG, Fletcher had 6 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals in limited time.
Christiano Watson had 4 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals in his debut.
I think this is my strongest bench, although backup C is a weakness.
Klayton has gone up another point in overall rating and is now at an 85.
Just in this one game, Christiano Watson has gone up a point as has Fletcher and Terry.
Our next game in the tournament is against St. Louis.
Eaglesfan27
05-28-2007, 04:23 PM
St. Louis is a good team with one of the first SF's I've seen in a while that can match Kirby for size and skill. They also have an advantage at PF. Otherwise, we have the advantage at each of the starting positions and we have better team unity.
Eaglesfan27
05-28-2007, 06:52 PM
10 minutes in: Their 3 points shooting has been phenomenal. We've been getting points from Klayton drawing fouls, setting up Hite for easy inside baskets, and Kirby on the fastbreak. 19-19 so far.
Over the next 5-6 minutes, our bench played very well.
Halftime: 40-31.
Klayton has 13 points, 2, assists, 2 stealls, and 1 turnover. He is shooting 4 of 6.
Hite has 9 points and 4 rebounds in the first half. He has gained another few pounds and is stronger and a better post player than last year.
Kirby has 6 points, 3 boards, 3 assists, and a steal.
We took control early in the 2nd half, mainly led by Kirby.
83-61 win.
Kirby finished with 23 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal. He shot 10 of 12.
Hite finished with 16 points and 9 boards. He shot 7 of 10.
Klayton finished with 15 points, 7 assists, 4 steals, and 3 turnovers. He shot 5 of 9.
Daley had 8, Terry had 5 points and 3 boards.
Fletcher had 5 points and 3 assists in only 16 minutes off the bench.
Our next NIT Pre-season tourney game is a week later against Minnesota. In an odd scheduling quirk, we have a game against Kennesaw State before that game. They are a very weak team and will simulated now.
We barely beat them 63-61 despite having a significant talent advantage.
Klayton had 20 points, 5 assists, 3 steals, and 4 turnovers. He shot 7 of 13, 0 of 3, and 6 of 6.
Kirby had 12 points, 14 boards, 4 assists, and a block.
Hite had 9 points and 9 boards along with 3 blocks.
Terry in his first simmed game had 1 points and 4 boards.
Azubuike had 15 points as the main option off the bench.

Thanks, I might do a new one when I eventually get a job in a bigger conference or if I get this one really great recruit I'm in the lead for... He is a 6'9 220 pound PF/C from Maryland who is Mr. Basketball in the state and 53rd overall in the nation. However, I can't believe I'm in the lead for him and I'm guessing someone will swoop in and take him before I get him to sign in the upcoming early signing period.

Minnesota is slightly more talented, but most of their players are freshman and we have a huge Unity advantage.
In particular, their Freshman PG should be at a huge disadvantage against Klayton.
Their offense was high powered quick firing in the first half, but ours was even better.
45-38 lead at the half.
Klayton has 15 points, 3 assists and a rebound. He is shooting 5 of 8 (4 of 5 behind the arc.)
Dunleavy surprises off the bench with 8 points at the PF spot (all set up by good assists.)
Kirby has 4 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists at the half.
We maintained control throughout the 2nd half.
87-77 win.
Klayton finishes with 23 points, 5 assists, 2 steals, and a board. He shot 7 of 11, 4 of 6.
Hite had 16 points, 9 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals, and a block. He shot 7 of 10.
Azubuike had 15 points off the bench.
Kibry had 11 points, 12 boards, 5 assist, and a steal. He shot 3 of 7.
The NIT Final will feature us against #23 4-0 Florida State.
Eaglesfan27
06-02-2007, 06:51 PM
Florida State is more talented, but we have an advantage in talent and size at PG and C. Their unity is quite a bit lower as well.
We were down by 12 at one point when our backups were playing, but we got some scoring from an unexpected as well as an expected source:
Howard Terry had 10 points and 4 boards as he hit 5 of 6 shots (mostly 12-14 foot open jumpers.)
Klayton got us back in it with 14 points, 4 assists, 2 steals, and a rebound in the first half. He is shooting 5 of 11.
Wil Fletcher had trouble handing their press and that was a key factor in our loss. 80-70 loss.
Klayton finished with 28 points, 6 assists, 3 steals, 2 boards, and 2 turnovers. He shot 11 of 22, 1 of 3, 5 of 6.
Freshman Howard Terry had a great game and finished with 19 points and 6 rebounds. He shot 9 of 11.
Hite had 10 points, 5 boards, and 4 assists along with a block. He shot 3 of 6.
If he doesn't go pro, I think he could have a monster senior year next year as the focal point of our team.
Our next game is a simulated game at College of Charleston.
We crush them 70-46.
Azubuike led the team in scoring with 23 points off the bench.
Klayton had 12 points, 1 board, and 1 assist. He shot 5 of 9.
Daley had 17 points. Hite had 10 points, 14 boards, and 2 blocks.

06-03-2007, 04:32 PM
Our next game is hosting Colorado. They have a similar talent level to us.
Our biggest advantage is at PG where Klayton is now rated 85. Their biggest advantage is at SF, but Kirby has a huge size advantage.
Hite nailed a 3 in warmups! He has been shooting them in warmups more lately....
This game, I'm giving Archibong his spot back as the primary backup SG/SF besides Azubuike. Christiano Watson is highly recruited and is talented, but he is undersized and lacks shooting. He'll still get plenty of time when we have big leads or don't need the offense of Archibong.
At half, we are up 39-33.
Azubuike leads the team with 8 off the bench. Archibong has 4.
Klayton has 4 points, 5 assists, and 1 steal at the half. He is shooting 1 of 2.
Daley has 7, Kirby has 4, Terry has 4 (including an 18 footer), and Hite has 4.
Hite and Klayton are playing as well together as I've ever had a PG and C play. Great pick and roll play by them today even if Klayton wasn't hitting his shots consistently.
77-64 win.
Hite led the team with 22 points, 7 boards, 2 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks. He shot 7 of 9, 0 of 0, 8 of 8.
Klayton had 13 points, 10 assists, 3 steals, and 3 turnovers. He shot 5 of 11, 0 of 2, 3 of 3.
Daley and Azubuike each had 11.
Terry with 6 points, 11 boards, and 3 steals. He shot 2 of 6.
Kirby with 4 points, 4 boards, and 3 assists as the smaller more talented player played strong defense on him.
Hite has grown a bit more and is now 7'1" 280 pounds!
Our next simulated game is our first conference game at Towson. We are 6-1 so far. They are 2-3 and aren't quite as talented.
We win 58-51.
Klayton had 13 points, 5 assists, 2 blocks. He shot 5 of 10, 1 of 1, and 2 of 2.
Daley had 14 points.
Kirby had 4 points, 12 boards, and 3 assists.
Hite had 6 points, 9 boards, 4 assists, and 2 blocks.
Terry had 4 points and 8 boards.
Azubuike had 11 points off the bench.
The early recruiting period ended and we couldn't get Superstar Christian Pope to sign early with us :( He has us in the lead, but I suspect someone will steal him from us later in the year.
Our next game is hosting a solid Rice team.
Eaglesfan27
06-04-2007, 01:55 PM
Rice has a huge advantage at PF in talent as they have a great player there. Everywhere else, we have the advantage.
At halftime, we are up 37-27. Terry is having another big game mostly due to open jumpers when they double team Hite.
Terry has 7 points, 5 boards, 1 assist.
Klayton has 5 points, 3 assists, 4 steals. He is shooting 2 of 7.
Kirby leads the team with 10 points on 3 of 6 shooting.

Excellent play from my seniors makes this an easy win. 76-62.

Unranked (likely due to the aforementioned bug) in the Coaches' poll.
We are 1st in the Mid Major Poll.
Our next game is at a weaker Ball State team.
We have a HUGE advantage at C (6'7 195 pound player who is not as talented as Hite) and a huge talent advantage at PG. This should get ugly early.

Despite a very good 1st half from Hite, it has been a close game.

Hite has 11 points, 3 boards, 3 assists, and 3 blocks. He has shot 5 of 8.
Klayton has 6 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals. He has shot 3 of 6.
No one else has more than 3 points.
A sloppy second half had us down by 7 with 3:19 to go... then Klayton took over.
He first nailed a 3, then he stole it and broke away for a dunk. Then he played good defense and ran a rebound by Hite up the court to set Terry up for a big jumper (which the kid nailed!)
Then, he stole it again, broke away and had a dunk. We ended up winning by 8 as he hit FT's down the stretch when they fouled him and even got a rebound on one of their late 3's.
79-71 win.

Our next game will be hosting Hofstra as we really enter into our conference schedule.
Eaglesfan27

Hofstra is a weaker team that we should beat without much trouble. They are 4-5. In particular, we have a huge advantage in talent at PG and C.
Hite got into very early foul trouble and that hurt the team, but we still took a 38-31 lead at the half behind an excellent fast break that was usually finished by Kirby.

Azubuike has 10 points off the bench,

Our next game is hosting a 6-9 Northeastern team. I'll play that later today.
Eaglesfan27
06-09-2007, 04:10 PM
Against Northeastern, we have the talent edge at every position, but their C is almost as good as Hite and almost as big.

We are now 17-3. Our next game is at a 12-8 George Mason team that is close to us in talent.
Eaglesfan27
06-10-2007, 11:37 AM
Against George Mason, the only positions we have a talent advantage are at PG and C and they are only small advantages according to our staff. Also, their C is one of the few that matches Hite in height and weight.
A very close first half throughout. 34-33, we lead.

Klayton has 6 points and 3 assists on 2 of 3 shooting.

We beat UNC Wilmington by 27 when I played them before. This time in a sim game at home, we barely win by 2 - 81-79.
We are now 8th in the media poll! We are 6th in RPI.
The star C that I was recruiting, named Christian Pope seems to be giving me every indication that while he likes us, he is going to Maryland.
So, I pull his scholarship offer to offer it to Emmanuel Felton, a 6'10 230 pound C from Brooklyn, NY.
To balance out playing that pre-season tourney, I sim the next game as well which is at Northeastern, a team that we are better than.
We win 63-44. Klayton had 13 points and 3 assists. He shot 4 of 15, 2 of 6, and 3 of 4.
Hite had 9 points, 9 boards, and 2 blocks.
Next up is a game at an Old Dominion team that is just as good as us and we are even in talent at most positions except for PF where they have the advantage.

While the talent level was the same, their SF is apparently a big slow plodder..
Kirby with his 86 speed is tearing this guy apart. As a result, we are crushing them.
42-25 at the half.
Kirby has 17 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals. He is shooting 8 of 11.

Hofstra is missing one of their better players, a SG, and we have a big advantage as a result.
A solid first half has up 35-27. Klayton has been on fire.
He has 15 points on 6 of 7 shooting. He also has 4 assists, 4 steals, and 0 turnovers.
80-71 win as Klayton picks up his first career triple double!!
He had 26 points, 11 assists, 10 steals, and 2 turnovers. He shot 8 of 11, 2 of 3, and 8 of 8. Great to see him getting stronger as the regular season winds down.
Kirby injured his knee in the 2nd half. Hopefully, it isn't serious.
Daley had 14 points on 5 of 10 shooting.
Hite had 11 points, 5 boards, and 4 blocks.
That win gives us a 25-3 record!
Our simulated game is hosting William & Mary. We win 94-69.
Every starter and Azubuike were in double digits.
Klayton had 15 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals. He shot 4 of 10.
Daley had 15 points.

Terry had 13 points and 9 boards.
Hite had 15 points, 9 boards, and 4 blocks.
Azubuike had 15 points.
We are 26-3 now! We are 6th in the media poll! Apparently, it is possible to get ranked in the coaches' poll! They've finally taken us for real and we are 13th. I guess that part of the game isn't bugged after all (the coaches just seem to be more stubborn towards smaller schools.)
We are 1st in the Mid Major Poll and 4th in RPI.
Kirby is now 100%.
After a 1st round bye, we have William & Mary in the 2nd round of the CAA Tourney. Since, we just demolished them, I decide to let it be a quick sim game.
We win 81-68.
Azubuike was the star off the bench with 26 points on 8 of 13 shooting (4 of 7 behind the arc.)
Klayton had 13 points, 5 assists, 5 boards, and 5 turnovers. He shot 4 of 8.

They match up well with us.

Down 39-37 as Klayton twisted his ankle midway through the 1st.
He still managed to get us 10 points and an assist. He is shooting 3 of 6.
HOLY COW! Terry fouled out midway through the 2nd and Hite was in foul trouble. This led to us being down by 7 with 3 minutes to go.. then Klayton took over. He hit the next 10 points to get us ahead 79-77 with 3.4 seconds left. The last points came when he drew a foul and nailed both free throws.
We foolishly fouled them and they tied it 79-79 with 1.3 seconds left. Daley inbounded it long to Klayton who hit a turnaround 3 as the buzzer expired from 28-30 feet out for the 82-79 win!!!
Despite his injury, Klayton finished with 24 points, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 4 turnovers. He shot 7 of 14, 1 of 2, and 9 of 14.
Azubuike had 15 points.
Kirby had 14 points, 9 boards, 4 assists, 4 steals, and a block.
Hite had 9 points, 9 boards, and 3 blocks.
The CAA Final will be against Hofstra which should be an easier game for us. I'll play that tomorrow.

Our starters played brilliantly, but our reserves had some problems containing their starters late in the half.
48-28 lead.
Kirby had 13 points on 6 of 7 shooting and played brilliant defense.
Daley had 11 points, 3 boards, and 2 steals on 3 of 6 shooting.
Klayton has 7 points and 6 assists at the half. He is shooting 3 of 3.
Hite has 6 points, 6 boards, 5 assists, and 5 blocks in one of the most brilliant halves he has ever played.
We had a huge lead, so I sat my starters with 10 minutes to go. They closed the gap, but we still won 82-64.
Klayton had 13 points, 7 assists, 4 steals, and 5 turnovers. He shot 6 of 7.
Hite had 10 points, 10 boards, 8 assists, and 7 blocks. He shot 5 of 7.
Daley had 19 points, 6 boards, 4 assists. He shot 6 of 11.
Kirby had 17 points, 5 boards, 1 assist, and 1 steal. He shot 8 of 10.

We have the lowest number of losses among any team this season. We are 6th in the media poll and 11th in the coaches' poll.
WOW!!! We are the 4th #1 seed!
The other #1 seeds: Marquette (ranked #1 nationally with a 29-4 record), Wisconsin (23-8), and Arizona State.
Other notable teams:
Wake Forest (22-9) is a 2nd seed in another bracket from us. The announcers thought they might get our #1 seed.
Ohio State (20-12) is a 5 seed that faces a #12 seeded UCLA team that was 18-12.
North Carolina got a #2 seed with a 21-10 record.
Our Bracket:
We face #16 Sacramento State first. This is their first appeareance in the tourney. They were 13-15 this year.
Duke was 20-13 and got the 8th seed in our bracket. :( At least, we don't have North Carolina in this bracket. They'll face Saint Joseph's.
Oregon is the 4th seed vs #13 seed Murray State.
#5 LSU is 21-11 and faces #12 Fordham.
#2 Louisville is 24-8 and faces Appalachian State (19-11)
#7 Tennessee is 19-12. They'll play Loyola (MD)
#3 NC State was 22-10 vs Missouri State (18-12.)
#6 Michigan State (21-11) vs Utah State (23-9.)
In looking over our first game, Sacramento State is one of our weakest opponents all year.
Their star player is their PF, but he is only 6'6" 220 and he is the only player with higher ratings. We have size and skill advantages at every other position.
Eaglesfan27
06-16-2007, 12:17 PM
The bad news: We had our sloppiest half in a long time with way too many turnovers. Also, Klayton reinjured his ankle.
The good news: Daley was on fire, and we are up 43-33 as a result.
Daley has 17 points on 6 of 7 shooting, 3 of 3 shooting, and 2 of 2 shooting.
Klayton has 5 points, 2 assists, and 2 turnovers. He shot 2 of 3.
Hite has 5 points, 5 boards, and a block.
Hite fouls out with 9:40 to go, but we have the game in hand at that point 75-42 as we have been playing spectacular basketball in the 2nd half.
Our backups get the momentum going and we won easily 95-55.
All 5 starters had double figures: Daley (26), Kirby (16), Terry (12), Hite (12), and Klayton (10.)
Wil Fletcher, our backup freshman PG and likely starter next year also had 10.
3 guys had double doubles. Kirby had 10 boards, Hite had 10 boards, and Terry had 15 boards.
Great game from our guys after a very slow start.
Unfortunately, Duke easily beat Saint Joseph's 85-56 and will be our next opponent. They are significantly more talented than we are, but their team unity isn't as good.
We have a slight advantage at PG with Klayton in talent, but he is slowed by his ankle injury.
We have a HUGE advantage at C where they are starting a 6'9 225 pound freshman. Hite has 50 poinds, 4 inches, and a higher talent rating.
They have a big advantage at every other position.

The keys to our first half success:
- Hite is doing a great job of having the offense run through him. He's had a few turnovers, but he's made baskets, made assists, and started plays that led to baskets.
- Terry did great when he was playing (unfortunately he fouled out with a minute to go!)
- Daley is nailing his shots.
- Kirby is playing terrific perimeter defense.
We are up 40-30. Kirby helped get their star SF in foul trouble by posting him up.
Now, I'm taking a chance and playing Kirby at PF and letting Azubuike play SF to start the half. If he can manage defensively, I think this makes us even more potent.
Kirby has the size and speed to make it very hard on their PF.
Klayton has 2 points, 3 assists, and 2 turnovers at the half. He has shot 1 of 1.
Azubuike leads the team with 10 points off the bench.
Their star SF was in foul trouble in the 2nd half as well as we managed to catch him on switches. That was a key as we cruised to victory, 86-68.
We held them to 33% shooting.
Daley finished with 23 points, 3 boards, 3 assists. He shot 7 of 11, 1 of 3, and 8 of 8.
Kirby finished with 13 points, 10 boards, 4 assists, 4 steals. He shot 5 of 9.
Backup PG Wil Fletcher finished with 12 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
Klayton had 11 points, 5 assists, 3 steals. He shot 5 of 5, 1 of 1, and 0 of 0.
Hite almost had a triple double! He had 10 points, 9 boards, and 10 assists. He shot 5 of 10. He also had 4 blocks.
Azubuike finished with 10 points.
We are in the Sweet 16!
Wow #16 seed Navy upset Marquette 65-63!
Our next opponent is 25-10 Oregon. Oregon is more talented than Duke according to our scouts with a better team unity. This should be a very tough matchup.
Their JR PG is rated 5 points better than Klayton and appears to be a truly fast guard.
Their SG Ryan Traore is a deadly outside shooter and is quite a bit better than Chad.
Their SF is tiny compared to Kirby but has a great talent advantage. Kirby has to get him in foul trouble early.
Their freshman PF is much better than Howard Terry.
Their C is a monster who is 7'1 270 and much better than Hite...
Eaglesfan27
06-16-2007, 02:49 PM
Klayton has had a very good first half with 13 points on 5 of 9 shooting.
Terry has provided some scoring with 6 points and everyone else is chipping in with all of my other starters having 4..
Yet, we can't stop their offense which is explosive. We are down 44-40.
I thought we were done when we were down 80-70 with 5 minutes left and they were in control.
Then, Klayton did it again! First, he drew a 4th foul on their starting PG forcing him out of the game. A play later, a precise drive into the lane draws the 4th foul on their starting C.
With those two, we took control of the game with the offense running through Hite and him kicking it out to Klayton, Daley, and Azubuike for 3's.
Before I knew it, we were up 84-83 and they brought their men back in. Daley managed to draw the 5th foul on their starting PG with 2:20 left and Klayton drew the 5th on their starting C with 1:30 left..
That made it easy for us to win 91-86.
Their starting C, had 20 points and 18 boards along with 3 blocks.
Klayton finished with 30 points, 3 assists, 4 steals, and 2 turnovers. He shot 12 of 19, 2 of 3, and 4 of 5.
Azubuike had 13 points.
Backup PF/C Dunleavy had 11 points, 9 boards, and 3 assists for us.
Daley had 10 points.
Hite had 9 points, 9 boards, 6 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. He shot 3 of 10.
Kirby had 5 points, 6 boards, and 3 steals.
Terry had 10 points, 4 boards, and 2 assists.
Our next opponent is the #3 seed NC State.
They are only slightly more talented than we are. Our biggest advantage is at C.
I'll play that later today.

Klayton's shot has been off, but Fletcher has kept us in it.
Fletcher has scored 17 off the bench on 7 of 7 shooting!
Klayton has 9 points and an assist, but he is only shooting 3 of 9.
I come out with a few changes in gameplan.. I use some 3-2 and 2-3 zones along with a 1-3-1 trap.. I trap whenever Kirby is near his man and in the corner. I also played Azubuike at SF and Kirby at PF since Terry was giving us nothing.
It worked well as we generated turnovers, Azubuike nailed 3's and Klayton started hitting his shots. We cruised to a 92-79 win and are going to the Final Four again!!!
Wil Fletcher secured the starting PG job next year. The Freshman scored 25, had 3 assists, and 3 steals. He shot 10 of 14.
Klayton scored 21, had 4 assists, and 3 steals. He shot 7 of 13, 4 of 6, and 3 of 4.
Azubuike scored 20 and had 4 boards. He shot 7 of 13, 4 of 8, and 2 of 2.
Kirby had 11 points and 7 steals! He also had 3 boards and 2 assists.
Daley had 9 points.
Hite had 6 points, 8 boards, 5 assists, and 1 block.
We'll be playing #1 seed Wisconsin next.
2nd seeded UCF is against 4th seeded Michigan in the other bracket.
I'll finish the season tomorrow.

Wisconsin has an excellent team. Their SR PG Fernandez Darby is big (6'4" 229), faster than Klayton, is a terrific defender. He is a senior who was ranked the 16th best PG coming out of Hs. He is a very good outside shooter and equally adept inside the paint. He is the star of their team.
Their next best player is SF Jamie Wilkins. He is a junior who is 6'6 207 so Kirby will have a big size advantage. He isn't really faster than Kirby either. However, he is one of the best shooters in the country and is a good perimeter defender who has excellent passing ability. He is their leading scorer averaging about 16 ppg.
Mani Cassler is an excellent SG. He is 6'5 219. He is a great outside shooter who is an ok perimeter defender. He is much faster than Daley. He also has a very good mid range jump shot.
Virgil Greene is a JR PF who is 7'0 270 and is going to push Terry or any of my options around. He is a very good inside scorer and has a surprisingly good jump shot. He is also a great shot blocker. He is suprisingly quick for his size. He's been averaging 12 ppg and 10 rpg this season.
L.F. Forney is a 7'2" 280 pound C who is a freshman. He isn't quite as good as Hite in skills, but he is close. He was the #5 recruit overall last year and the #1 C. He is from Topeka, KS. Right now, he is raw offensively but is a good shot blocker and rebounder.
This will be a very tough matchup. If we can win, I think the championship game will be easier.

For the first 10 minutes, our jump shooters are keeping us in it as we are up 18-16. Their rebounders are killing us.
With 7:29 to go, we get a charge on Wilkins that gives him his 2nd foul. That is a relief as he has been a big part of their offense today.
We played mostly M2M defense the first half with help as needed.. It worked for the most part. We are in the game.
37-36 we lead. However, Hite is in severe foul trouble with 4 (I saw no sense in sitting him unless he was tired, because we need his size inside.)
Klayton and Daley are keeping us in this game.
Klayton has 14 points, 1 assist, 1 steal, and only 1 turnover. He is shooting 5 of 9, 0 of 0, 4 of 4.
Daley has 9 points on 3 of 6 shooting, 1 of 3, and 2 of 2.
They are killing us on the boards and Hite only has 4 points, 3 boards, and 1 assist.
Terry has 4 boards and 0 points.
Cassler is their leading scorer with 9 points on 4 of 8 shooting.
Darby has 8 points and 2 assists but we have 2 fouls on him.
Wilkins and Forney also have 2 fouls.
None of our other players are in foul trouble.
We've held them to 42% shooting and 22% from behind the arc which has kept us in it.
They've outrebounded us 18 to 10.
They have 9 bench points to our 7 (mostly Azubuike.)

Klayton gets a 3rd foul on Darby 30 seconds into the 2nd half.
Without Darby in the game, Klayton is able to drive into the lane practically at will which sets up Hite for some easy baskets and gets another foul on their PF. We are pulling away a bit, 51-40 with 15 minutes to go.
A minute later, Klayton draws his 3rd foul on Wilkins!
We are up by 11 with 10 minutes to go!
With 8 minutes to go, I rest most of my starters.. Hite has stayed away from his final foul.
Our backups aren't hitting their shots and all of their starters are back in. Darby and Wilkins are killing us. 66-65 with 4:30 to go and my starters are still not quite recovered to come back in.
Quick is doing an amazing job of rebounding. The young PF hasn't played much this year, but he did well in this spot. On the other hand, Azubuike and Fletcher seem to be crumbling under the pressure even missing open jumpers. Still down 66-65 with 2:43 to go and I bring in my starters.
Klayton misses his first shot, but he nails a 3 on our next possession to tie it at 68-68 with 1:40 to go!
Forney beats Hite for an offensive board on their next possession, but Kirby forces a bad shot and while Hite boxes out his man, Terry gets the rebound. The freshman has rebounded well today.
With 49 seconds left, Klayton finds Daley with a no look pass for an open jumper! 70-68!
With 38 seconds left, Wilkins nails a 3 off of a good screen :(
With 4 seconds left, Klayton shoots a leaner coming off a screen... he misses it, but Hite grabs the offensive board!!!! He slams it home with 1.2 seconds left! 72-71, we lead!
Terry steals the long inbound pass!!!! WE WIN!!! WE WIN!!! 72-71!
We held them to 40% shooting and 7 of 19 from behind the arc. We shot 43% and 4 of 15 behind the arc.
We hit 18 of 20 FT's. They hit 14 of 15.
We were outrebounded 35-23 and we only had 4 offensive boards.
We had 12 steals. They had 9.
We had 4 blocks. They had 2.
They had 22 bench points to our 7.
Klayton led the way with 23 points, 7 assists, 2 steals, and only 2 turnovers. He shot 8 of 20, 1 of 3, and 6 of 6.
Daley had 19 points on 7 of 13 shooting, 3 of 6, and 2 of 2.
Hite had 12 points, 5 boards, 1 assist, and 2 blocks.
Kirby had 11 points, 4 boards, 1 assist, and 2 blocks.
Terry had 0 points but 10 boards. He was 0 of 4.
Azubuike was 0 of 7 but had 4 points on FT's.
Fletcher had 3 points and 1 assist. He was 0 of 6.

Michigan isn't as talented as Wisconsin.
Their star player is Senior SG Ammar Vitelli. He is a 6'4" 220 lb slasher who is a decent jump shooter. He is a good defender.
Brendon Montague is a senior SG/SF who is 6'6 220 and is their 2nd best player. He is a mediocre shooter but a great slasher.
Their star PF, Walter Crumbley, is out for this game with a separated shoulder he suffered last game!!!
Herschel Owens is their starting PG and he is only of average talent. Klayton is clearly better than him. His best attribute is good speed that Klayton can match.
Their starting C is not as good as Hite but has good size 7"0' 235. He is questionable with a sprained knee. His best attribute is decent shot blocking. He is not a very good rebounder for his size and he isn't as fast as Hite!
Their depth isn't really better than ours either. :)
Michigan's Overall team rating is only 88 which is only one point better than our 87 and the lowest we've faced in several games (Wisconsin's was a 96.)

Crumbley is playing this game after all?!? Maybe I misread the injury report? Also, they are playing Montague at PG and his size/speed combination is really messing with Klayton early. They are hurting us early as our early shots aren't falling. Down 10-2, 5 minutes into the game.
Down by 7 with 10 minutes to go as we have adjusted and are running our offense through Hite in the post.
At halftime, Crumbley has 8 points and 8 boards for them to lead their team. Super sub Francis Jordan, a SF/PF 6'7 190 pound player has 6 points, 6 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals for them.
We've held them to 1 of 12 behind the arc or they would be slaughtering us. As it is, we are down 35-28. None of our guys besides Hite are really hitting their shots.
Klayton has 9 points and 2 assists but is shooting 3 of 9.
Hite has 6 points, 5 boards, and 2 assists along with a block. He is shooting 3 of 6.
Daley is 2 of 7 and only has 5 points.
Kirby is playing good defense but isn't contributing offensively yet.

Crumbley has been playing C for them all game because he is their best interior player. Hite just drew two quick fouls to give him 3 for the game! Crumbley leaves with 18 minutes to go and the 3 fouls :)
Hite is now able to ignite our fast break off the boards and Klayton takes one of his passes, dribbles into the lane, and has a wicked behind the back pass to Kirby who finishes it with a reverse windmill dunk that draws the foul. He converts for a 3 point play that gives us a 40-39 lead :)
We are in the bonus with 14 minutes to go!
We are up 53-49 with 10 minutes to go, but our starters are getting tired.
With 4:45 to go, they tie it at 57-57 while my starters have been resting the last few minutes and are almost ready to come back in..
We buy another 2 minutes in which Klayton is almost at full strength and then I bring my starters in. Down 60-59 with 2:49 to go.
Kirby misses a layup which he almost never does, and then Montague nails a 16 foot jumper. 62-59 with under 2 minutes to go.
Klayton with a drive draws a 4th foul on Crumbley.
He hits both FT's. Vitelli misses a 18 footer and Hite gets the board!
Coming off a screen, Klayton beats Montague into the lane and draws a foul. He nails both FT's to give us a 63-62 lead with 58 seconds to go!
Byerson one of their bench players hits a jumper over Daley to give them the lead.
Klayton misses a jumper in the lane and isn't given the foul call despite being bumped a bit.
We have to intentionally foul. Terry steals the inbound pass and finds Klayton with a pass.. Klayton on the fastbreak.. shoots and scores and the foul!!! He nails it. 66-64 with 34 seconds to go.
With 1.4 seconds left, Crumbley hits a 16 foot jumper to tie it up!
Klayton misses the 30 foot jumper at the buzzer. OT!

Kirby is fresher.. he is disrupting the passing lanes.. 6 quick points for us. 72-66 lead with 3:35 to go!
Kirby with 2 boards too. He is playing great now.
Their players seem more tired.. their missing their shots! 75-68 lead with 2 minutes to go.
We win the National Championship!!! We win!!! 77-68!!!
Klayton is cutting down the nets!!!
Kirby set up our momentum in the 2nd half with that fast break basket on the great pass from Klayton.
We held them to 39% shooting while shooting 38% ourselves.
We hit 28 of 29 FT's. They hit 14 of 20.
We each had 35 boards.
We each had 13 steals.
We had 6 blocks to their 2.
Klayton led the team with 20 points, 3 boards, 2 steals, 1 assist, and 3 turnovers. He shot 4 of 13, 1 of 5, and 11 of 11.
Kirby had 17 points, 4 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.
Daley had 12 points.
Hite has 12 points, 13 boards, 3 assists, and 3 blocks.
Terry had 8 points and 6 boards.
Fletcher was the leading scorer off the bench with 4 points on 2 of 6 shooting.

I won National Coach of the Year!
We finish with a 35-3 record.
Jud Estrada still beat Klayton for Mid-Major Player of the Year. The 6'7 220 pound SF scored 19 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.5 spg, and 1.2 bpg.
Jud who plays for Hofstra also won CAA Player of the Year.
Meyers and Hite were 1st team All-Conference.
Klayton's final stats on the year: 16.1 ppg (down 2 ppg from last year), 0.9 rpg, 5.5 apg (up 0.1), 2.5 spg (up .3), and 0.3 bpg. He played 27.6 mpg.
Meyers graduated and wasn't drafted :(
Daley and Kirby also graduated. Archibong transferred to Southern since he was unhappy with his lack of PT.
WOW! Duke's Coach K just retired and they are offering me the job!!
Florida State is also offering me their job. I still want to get to USC, but they are keeping Tim Floyd and Duke certainly should be a great job to get some 5 star athletes and improve my coaching ability. I accept a 2 year deal.
Drexel hires the Head Coach from NDSU to replace me.
Duke tells me right away that I better win or I will be gone quickly.

As a footnote, Maryland ended up stealing both of the great recruits I was going for at Drexel. I think they would have stolen them even if I didn't leave.
Meanwhile, despite the coaching change, I just got a 6'3 177 pound 5 star SG from Brooklyn, NY to sign with Duke on my first day of recruiting. He is ranked 7th overall nationally and 2nd among SG's. This should be fun. Perhaps, I'll continue to chronicle my quest to get to USC in a new dynasty thread.

I'm going to start a new dynasty thread tonight relating my time at Duke. I'll be making the game a bit more difficult by slightly tilting sliders in the CPU's favor to make it more challenging. With the schedule my AD picked for me, I still expect a lot of easy blowout wins until we get into our conference schedule.
