Iīm in 2018 right now and my QB holds out for a better contract.
The facts :

ranked 8th/8th/6th/4th in QB rating (2nd highest career average so far)
The story : He didnīt play a game in his rookie season as i had another late round pick who was solid and a veteran as a Backup and Barker was more of an afterthought. Than that other guy got injured and Barker replaced him in the 5th to last game and started the last 4 games and was basically giving me a total rush with his performance. He was a 27/47 guy at the time and steps in and has 115+ in all those 5 games while leading the team to 5 wins and a surprising playoff spot where he didnīt exactly let down much.
2 years fast forward : Heīs still really solid and then in the POīs leads the team to the championship with a ridiculous string of games ending with the game winning TD pass with 20 seconds left ...
Heīs not simply a success because of the team as far as i can tell. I have/had a real good first receiver (75) those last years, but then a guy from 46-58 (developed to that) and the others mostly 40-45, TE at about 50-55.
Also my running game is just bad, ever since my first great RB retired i am constantly ranking at the very bottom, never finished higher than 29th in terms of yards per carry, everything else 20+, too.
So i give him a new contract that earns him 22 mio over 4 years. Another 2 years later and heīd holding out and i finally sign him to 196.6 million over 6 years. The one good thing is that i had enough cap room to place a lot of money into the first season (and on top of his current contract) so that the deal isnīt going up to 43 million in his last year but "only" to about 30...
Salary cap is at 208 million right now.
I allready experienced that the game values performance when it comes to contract demands and he definitely outperforms his ratings, but thatīs just caught me offguard a little ;)
Am i crazy to believe that this string of seasons wasnīt a fluke and that it indeed wasnīt because of the other players that might be declining/changing during his contract ?
Another thing is that the success came on the defensive en mostly, was constantly at the top in most stats, especially my pass defense where i held the opposing team to as low as a 64 QB rating over a season.
Offensively in terms of passing yards i am mostly somewhere between 10-15, so below his ranking as an individual. Heck, last season my team had the 3rd lowest number of pass attempts !!
btw : Since iīm definitely no expert, iīd be more than happy to hear an analasis of the player and/or the stats or the situation ...
iīm not taking it back, but if he fails then iīd like possible explanations ;)
