I think that the formations % choosen play a big factor in the plays ran by the computer AI when you sim games, so idecided to create and to share a chart with all the plays existing in FOF2k7 sorted by formation and by run/short/medium/long pass distance. That way, seing the plays that can be called by your head coach from every formation, you can decide the % that you want to assign to each formation in the gameplan.

Note: I guess most fo FOF fans underestand what the play's names means, else here are some examples:

RB 23 Blast: The Running Back runs inside the left guard (that is the hole number 3 counting from the left).

RB 25 smash: The Running Back runs inside the right tackle (that is the hole number 5 counting from the left) .

FL out 11, SE slant 7: The Flanker runs an out route to the sideline from nine to twelve yards as the primary receiver. The Tight End runs a slant (post) route from five to eight yards as the secondary receiver.

FL fly deep, FL2 out-15: The Flanker runs a fly route as far as possible as the primary receiver. The Flanker Two runs an out route to the sideline from 13 to 18 yards as the secondary receiver.

Here are some simple graphics i just draw to help those that doesn't know the routes names and running holes numbers:

It took me 2 good hours to do it all so I hope you will enjoy it :)

Thinking about this, wouldn't it be great if Solevision or gamelog gave you the playcall that occurred on the run or the pass. It would be great knowing if your WR caught a 10-yard curl or cross. At least for immersion, anyways.

Here's a breakdown of the number of plays in which a player is the main or the secondary target, by formation. I was surprised by the results. I honestly had no idea weak and strong formations were so different, for example. I was also taken aback by the number of passing plays for the FB, in some formations so many more than for RBs.

I'd expect this to impact targets. A breakdown which included passing distance might also be helpful, I'd expect.

Note: There's a couple of plays in which the TE and FB are both the main and the secondary target. I only counted those as one.

Anyone know if this is still the same with FOF7?

First of all, I had never seen this thread before, this is very nice. At first glance though I don't think the numbers are correct for the strong 3WR and weak 3WR formations, I thought those were 203 formations so there would be no targets for TE.

I don't think anything's changed in FOF7.

If accurate, this would be good information for the background game screen.

Does anyone know how ICY compiled this back in the day and is it possible to replicate with FOF7 ?

Play calling interface. I strongly suspect there's no need to redo this because it's identical. I doubt this has ever changed since FOF4 or whatever version it was that introduced play calling.
