The draft in the RDFL league has just been completed & we've run the training camp. However, I was alarmed to see how much my #1 pick had dropped!

Has anyone ever seen such a dramatic fall?

As far as I can remember, my scout had him rated 'As Scouted.'

This is my scout's profile:

Sorry, not sure how to crop the pic!

Was my scout suffering from the effects of old age when evaluating Lane?! I just cant figure out how this happened, especially with the scout being rated at Excellent for LBs & Very Good for young talent..... :(

That looks like a random, unpredictable bust. They're not common, but they do happen.

Yeah just bad luck. It happened to me a few seasons back in the NAFL. I drafted a cornerback. Do not have all his details, but he came out of the draft looking like a 35/70 type guy. After camp he ended up being something like a 17/28 guy.

In the HFL this year, someone took a WR in the 2nd round who looked like a decent receiver (my scout had him about 35/52 or so) but after the draft, he showed up on the roster as an 8/11.

That was the steepest drop-off I'd seen.

What color is the 40 time? Man-To-Man and Pass Rush Strength/Technique have a large 40 time component, and those are the things that dropped off the most.

Strangely, his BNR coverage rating went from really low, to maxed.

Not a complete bust though. If this guy is done dropping he will still be a solid player. However not top half of first round material anymore.

I have had busts surpass this. Including a 2nd year bust where the player had been developing as a DT and went from a 48/58 player to a 20/20. After having a decent rookie year.

What's the deal with second year bust? I've had the same thing happen where a player has a good rookie season (injury free) then comes out of TC the following year with a big ratings hit.

His 40 time was red, as was his Strength & Agility. His Solecismic Test & Position Drill were blue, while the rest of the text was black. His grade was 7.3, which was the 3rd best in the entire draft class!

Even with the bust, seems like a bad scouting job. Look at the discrepancy in Bump and Run and Pass Rushing Strength. He totally missed on this guy.

I've seen worst busts than that, and I'm not talking about Teri Hatcher.
