Small Game

[The Jackal]

Capped at 10 people, it'll be a pretty straightforward simple game.

This game is loosely based on 30 days of night. I'd like to run a more complicated version with lots of people eventually, but this was a good random theme for a small game.

RULES

The game will run on a one deadline clock of 9 PM EST for lynch votes and night actions.

Mafia is a game of lying, deceit, and mauling. Especially mauling.

Each day you will vote for one person to be lynched. The player who receives the most votes will be killed. The results of a tie are only known by the moderator to begin the game. No lynch is allowed.

ROLES

Vampire - There will be two vampires in the game who can communicate with each other freely. Each day they will choose one person to be killed at night.

Hippie (Seer) - You've been growing a stash of.. less than legal drugs in your back greenhouse. A pleasant side effect of this is that you've become in tune with the people in your small community. Each night they may choose one player to "view" and will be told if that person is a vampire or a human.

Prisoner (Sorceror) - You are a frequent visitor to the town jail and are quite fed up with the people in this community. The Prisoner counts as a villager, but wins with the vampires. The vampires' and prisoner's identities are unknown to each other.

Mayor (Duke) - You have a little sway with the people of this town. Once during the game you may change the lynch vote to any person you desire, revealing you as the Mayor.

Villager - You have no special powers, sorry. Find and kill the vampires to win!

Thursday we leave for our drive to Seattle. We are splitting it up into 4 days so I should be able to catch up at night so the 9:00 PM deadline helps me alot but I will be way quieter then usual assuming I am still alive.

You live in a small, secluded town in British Columbia. In the deep of winter there are long periods without sunlight, and you currently find yourself in one of them.

Everything is going routinely until the power is cut. The sheriff heads out to the power station to find the decapitated body of The Jackal!

Now everything is a mess. You have no way of contacting anyone else for at least a week, and there is clearly evil amongst you.

The sheriff gathers everyone and asks that you decide who amongst you is the perpetrator.

First deadline tonight at 9 PM EST!

i would support this premise of going to no lynch, that way we dont have to worry about hitting the real seer if Clap is full of it, and we limit our day1/night 1 loss to a single villager.

what advantage is there to lynching the seer as opposed to forcing the wolves to kill him...voting patterns...right now there are at least 4 people on clap, only two of them MIGHT be bad guys...if I were them, i would make sure the two votes were split.

Everything is fine. I just hadn't had a physical in way too long. Doctor says I'm good as I should be at my age :). Also, too a lot less time than I expected, apparently when I was younger it only seemed like it took hours.

I skimmed the rules yesterday. Frankly I saw cronin hinting at the text of my PM with his check-in post, hence my suggestion. At no point, until Jackal said it, did I realize it matched.

I actually agree. I voted Lathum in the other game twice and didn't vote for him when making my basically random vote before I left just because of that.

I hate no Lynch. Especially in a game with no BG. There is no information to be gained by not lynching someone. Get the stake ready and drive it through someone's heart. This is a brutal game.

FTR I think a game with this setup actually runs better with 11. I asked Jackal to cap it at 10, so the villagers are at a disadvantage, depending on the tie breaker.

Assume clap is the seer, and he gets lynched. The vampires then have a 1/7 chance of killing the cultist. Assume clap is the seer, and we don't lynch him. The vampires then have a 100% chance of killing the seer, and a 0% chance of killing the cultist.

In both scenarios the seer dies - but in the former there is also a small chance the cultist goes down in flames, too.

FTR I think a game with this setup actually runs better with 11. I asked Jackal to cap it at 10, so the villagers are at a disadvantage, depending on the tie breaker.

At the end of the day it is close, but claphamsa comes out with the most votes. The sheriff leads him in back of the station where he's setup a makeshift noose. claphamsa is lynched, and his body falls lifeless.

Everyone looks at each other with fright. What have you done?!

The air is broken by a deep laugh. claphamsa is not dead after all, but a vampire! The sheriff quickly takes a stake and drives it through his heart.

in some games, the GM will let us vote nightfall, which means we want to end the day immediately because we are confident in our vote, and dont want to wait for the deadline...not all GMs allow it, so we have to see if The Jackal will end it

not really though...if we lynch lathum, and he really is the seer, then we lynch PF and the game is still over.who cares about her if she is just the prisoner.

right now, we are at 1 vamp to 7 villagers, one of whom is the prisoner...if we listen to her and lynch lathum, it goes to 1 to 6, they get a NK and it goes to 1 to 5, and then we lynch packer fan anyway.

if we listen to lathum, we lynch PF today, it goes to 1 to 6, they get a night kill and it goes to 1 to 5...we then have a 20 percent chance to get the last wolf (leaving lathum alive at that point is benficial to the village)

if we miss in that 1 in 5, it goes 1 to 4, then 1 to three after their last night kill....we will know that lathum is the prisoner, and then have a 3 way crap shoot to get to the end....odds for them are REALLY bad
