When doing a position switch and you get the "There's reason to believe that their numbers may go up with this switch" message --- How predictive is that statement?

Always correct/ Usually/ Sometimes/ Never ?

My guess is usually but has anybody have (aside from a coincidental random bust that occurred after) experience?

It's a CB to S switch btw....

I had one of these the other day, he turned out to be equally crap in the new position.

I saw it recently moving a bunch of LBs around. Think it raised their potential by a point or two, actual stayed close, or maybe dropped a point or two. So was 'worth it', IMO. But don't know about CB-S.

Educated guess, based on a S to CB switch - suspect that if you're trying to switch a big CB (i.e. over 200lbs, ideally closer to 210) there might be a little bump in ratings, but you aren't going to see much for a smaller guy.

(From my experience with moving rookie safeties to corner, a S weighing less than 200lbs usually switches to CB fairly painlessly - usually in the 94-96% range. Bigger safeties will have switch percentages in the 80s. I don't tend to switch veterans all that often, so what I've said above may well apply to rookies only.)

This is speculation, though - I could be completely wrong about the CB to S switch...

I recently had a rookie LB who I switched from the inside to the outside. The game told me his ratings would go up, but they didn't, they remained the same (this was a few weeks before camp). Then, after camp, his bars took a pretty bad blow, which was odd because his combine was very good. I blame it on the switch, although it might have been a volatility thing (I don't think so, because he still might be a decent player, with a /47 rating).

Other than that, I haven't had any bad experiences switching players when the game says there's reason to believe they'll improve.

Still, it seems to me that "there's reason to believe" is not the same thing as "of course he'll do better there, you idiot!," so there must be a risk involved.

I was just about to post the exact same question - I have a rookie CB, pre camp, at 43/65. He's 6-0, 216. I'm guessing it's actually in th same league that jzicc is talking about too. When switching him to FS or SS, I get the "reason to believe message" and his ratings for the moment go to 39/69. I'd like to move him to SS, as I have a young FS I already like. Is there a "type" of player that works better at one or the other position? What traits are valued by the game at those positions - FS and SS? And do I need him to hit the weights if he goes to SS? Thanks in advance.
