I have, what I feel, a great defense but game planning and assigning coverages is beyond me. I am a 4-3 scheme but I'm thinking about a pure cover 2 drop back with my pass rush coming from my 4 DL. Here is my defensive roster:

POS - OVR/Run D/PR Tech./PR Strength
LDE - 64/51/86/94
LDT - 71/82/83/80
RDT - 51/32/98/74
RDE - 61/83/48/83

POS - OVR/Run D/Pass Rush/Man/Zone/BumpNRun
SLB - 52/77/80/27/40/8
MLB - 60/82/32/37/61/67
WLB - 62/72/14/21/38

POS - OVR/Run D/Man/Zone/BNR/INT
LCB - 82/77/85/80/100/100
RCB - 80/97/100/96/62/48
NCB - 35/72/26/43/12/16
SS - 48/64/46/40/37/38
FS - 66/86/56/36/51/90

Any suggestions on how you would assign a defensive game plan to this squad?

Thanks in advance

In cover two your CB's are locked up while your safeties are in zone coverage. I think your pass coverage will have a tough time with your safeties skills, they lack zone defense it appears, also your NB lacks zone coverage skills as well, perhaps your safeties and NB can compensate for their weaknesses if they have good play diagnosis or have the ability to force interceptions once in a while to kill some drives. It appears that you should be able to do a good job stopping the run and rushing the passer with your front 7. It may help if you overplay the pass based on the fact that your Run D is strong. It has been said that it can be helpful to lay off Run aggressive and pass aggressive in basic 1st and 2nd down situations. Stay at a basic setting of run d at 45 pass d at 55. Back off blitzing and let your DL handle it. On third down crank up the the pass aggressive to 98 or so on 3rd and 4 or longer. Hope these suggestions can help some.
