Hello
In the mutliplayer league that I'm in, we've just run training camp and I increased the time for my 32nd ranked defense (from recommended 3 hours to approx 4.5 hours per day).
Well TC has now finished, can I expect any consequences other than rating changes on my defensive players (which weren't great). Would you expect any hidden defensive ratings to have been modified, i.e. will my defense just play better as a unit?

I would NOT expect ratings changes in your defensive players. I would expect a boost in your defense's performance.

GREAT! Thanks Ben, was hoping that was the case otherwise you might as well only run training sessions for players yet to fully develop.

But I wouldnt expect a HUGE increase in performance. I believe (and this is only a belief. No studies behind it) that you need to do it multiple seasons to see a dramatic change.
Although I believe the opposite is not true. If you spend less time on something, the drop is more dramatic in one season.
I liken it to grades. If you have an "A" in a class and bomb a test, you will see a big drop in your grade. If you have an "F" in a class a 100 will help but not move that "F" up very much. Maybe to a "D-".
This is only my belief. And if Im wrong I will be put the task by many.

We could do with a study on this :)

Hmm, does it matter?
Broader question might be more like "does a system matter in football?" I just mean - if you have an outstanding defensive coordinator who emphasizes a system that really works for his players, is it that the players themselves become better at football, or is it that the system benefits them and enables them to perform better? Possibly both, but I think it would be hard to suggest that it's only the former, and not at all the latter.
Seems to me that having alterations from training camp time (which in FOF is apparently the real proxy we have for "gameplan focus") is reasonable, and it seems certainly fair that at least some of that (if not all of it) should be tied to team performance, rather than individual player skill/attributes.

I don't MP, but I've played with the settings in single player, and I haven't really seen much value in deviating from the default. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

I've seen noticable differences for young QB formation acquisition, and reductions in injuries from deviating from the norm.

As far as I know, in FOF cohesion means how long players have been with the team and with that with the system. So when I wrote cohesion, I meant the cohesion figures in game, not whether how often QB X has connected with WR Y.
