I thought that it was said somewhere in the game's help that the motivation rating for the head coach was a big deal for the postseason. I can't find that now, nor can I find it anywhere here in a few searches. Has anyone else been under that impression?

Hmm...I don't remember anything specific for the post-season. I do remember that 'Motivation' had to do with a coache's ability to overcome a talent disadvantage (aka "outcoach" the other team).

I believe its part of the description on the training camp screen. I value Motivation greatly.

As I recall it was more to do with keeping your team in games. If you lose leads in the second half of games or give up leads it your HCs motivation rating coming into play, that kind of thing.

Motivation and QB 4th QTR comebacks were modifiers in FOF2k4 for bonus modifiers in the 4th qtr. Not sure I recall any conversations about the playoff thing (or it's use in FOF2k7).

The manual says "a good coach motivates your team which helps during tough games"

This was confirmed during WSUCougar's early years as Palouse Hills Whirlwinds GM in WOOF. His coach had a an average motivation rating, and the Whirlwind were one and done every single in the playoff, even though they dominated the regular season.
There's proof for you. ;)
And sample size be damned! :)

Well, for the record, I can't find any hint of this anywhere, so I suppose it's just something I just thought with no real basis. *shurg*

At least, it looks as if you'll get another chance to shine in the playoffs this postseason...
