View Full Version : Summer Game Idea

Ok, so here is what I am thinking as a possible EPIC game for the summer.

All of us have an FOFC get together and some freak accident or happening causes real and fictional worlds to collide! Most of us want to return things to normal, but there are a select few who wish to not only keep things the way they are, but rule this new world (wolves). Each player in the game commands a real/fictional character or collection of characters.

Basically individual characters have attack points, defense points and special abilities (very similar to hoops marvel game); characters will differ greatly in strength; however some people may command many more characters.

Attacks will happen in real time and each character a person controls must be killed in order for that player to die.

So lets say for example one person control Hulk and one person controls the Lord of the Rings Hobbits. Hulk will be have attack points, defense points and special abilities for his player and each LOTR hobbit will have attack, defense points and potentially special abilities for his owner. The hobbits will be killed easier either by day attacks or by night attacks, but all 4 hobbits will have to be killed in order for that player to be eliminated.

Obviously this game would be a challenge to balance, and would need many players to really be what it could, but over the summer I will actually have the time for something like this, especially if one other person may be willing to co run it with me.

SO think Hulk Vs. Harry Potter Vs. Jack Sparrow Vs. The 1927 NY Yankees Vs. Tarzan and Jane Vs. Care Bears Vs. Saw, etc....

And people will be able to come up with who they want to command prior to the game starting and I will work out stats and abilities for them.

Just a couple more notes, but as I said attacks happen in real time and there is no unattacking. So if you commanded say the American Idol judges, you would get attacks with each of Simon, Randy, Ellen and Kara and could attack with whoever you wanted at any point in the day, so you could attack with Simon at 10pm and then other three at 1pm if you wanted. But you couldn't unattack with Simon and then attack someone else. Though some people may have the ability to attack more than once per day.

I'm also thinking possible day events like an army of T-Rex's getting unleashed on the world and wolves and villagers having to work together to fend them off.

I love the concept of it, and of having an epic summer game. I have to admit I'm a little concerned about the real-time aspect. As much as I loved Hoops' Marvel game, the real time aspects are what made it less fun for me. Rushing to the computer first chance I could get, worrying about whether I was already dead and then finding out that I was, all because I was getting my kids to school and couldn't sit down in time. That's kind of a bummer. on the other hand not just waiting for deadlines and having day action is fun, so if there was a way to balance it somehow that would be better I think. Perhaps those attacked get some chance to respond, so when you get on you see who's attacked you, you send in your defense or response and then things are calculated? That would make me feel more in control of my character.

Sounds awesome and I love the concept. Real-time is tough for some, I agree, but I'm up for it.

Thanks for the initial thoughts. Maybe I can flesh out the real time aspect a bit. Maybe instead just have a few mini deadline each day where everything from the past couple hours if processed? That way it has a real time like effect, but give some time for some sort of response.

I think that would work better and allow more people to play

Something like that, or maybe just giving us some choice about picking a defense before the fact. Just something to make it active even for the defender. Otherwise it might feel like you log in, find out you're dead, blah. If there's some sort of response you can give, or some defense to set up ahead of time you'll feel like you did something. But the mini deadlines would work too.

I would certainly be excited about playing in a game like this and seeing what Danny comes up with for role details, balance, etc.
