Hoping for a little help here. I've got a rookie QB with an Exceptional affinity, Strong affinity, and a mild affinity. He's something like 22/48. The problem is he's only my third rated QB. The starter is 42/42 with no affinity or conflicts.

My question is how much of a difference will the affinity give to the rookie?

Having a friend on the team helps..

Help file says it helps the whole position group.

Prinzar,

I don’t recall if there have been any studies performed re: chemistry. Ben posted something last year, but I thought that was an analysis of the impact of cohesion.

That said, when I ran the Browns in the BFL, the team had about 40 players with positive affinities. Half the team had exceptional affinity with the group leader. Cleveland won the inaugural season championship with a better than average roster, but not the best roster in the league. All of this is anecdotal, but I’m a believer chemistry has a significant impact on performance.

The answer is yes, but to what extent is unknown.

If understand your question correctly, no, you will not gain anything from starting the rookie. His affinities help the whole group, not only himself, and it doesn't matter if he plays at all.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yeah you read it right Firefly, I meant would the rookie get some magical boost to make him play like a 50/50 or something obviously better than he actually is.

Dawgfan, this question is in relation to the BFL team. I drafted the rookie and got lucky with the affinity. Trying to keep your core idea together but information about affinities is really mixed

I did read someone saying here before that maybe it works differently for QBs because it's quite unknown and not well documented.

I have no idea if this is the case but it seems to be that someone thought/thinks that QB affinities apply to the QB only, as opposed to affinities within position groups, which affect the entire group.

Even if that were the case, Aston, it wouldn't matter which QB got the starts. Unlike cohesion, in which who actually plays does matter.

I don't know of any disagreement on this point, Prinzar.

I found the post I was thinking of.

On the affinities: does it matter if that triple affinity guy is your starting QB, or just any QB on the roster? I had thought affinities applied broadly to position groups, and not to specific players. That's true, per the Help File, for the position groups. However, the documentation doesn't really tell us how QB affinities work. My thinking is that it's QB-specific. But beyond that, in many cases your starting QB is going to be with you for a decade or more, and your backups may come and go, so it makes the most sense to build your affinity structure around your starter, especially if he is young.

I have a LB that is 20/28 that has affinity with my leader, he is Rookie and I think he is a little bit underrated too, but he has great numbers:

0 GS / 8 GP / 20 Tckls / 9 Assist / 1.0 Sack / 2 Hurry / 14.6 TkPct. / 1 INT / 80.9 PDPct.

I think affinity helps more then we think, my LB is a backup, but has starter numbers, I put him as a starter for the next game...
