View Full Version : Typical Turnaround For Elicense?

In one post I read, it mentioned that the speed at which eLicense handles requests has sped up since xmas time. I'm just curious as to what that timeframe may be so I can kinda gauge how to handle my leagues. As it stands, I'm in like 11 or 12 leagues, but starting to fall behind some offseason stuffs in a couple since I've had my 3rd crash causing me to run out of license installs (without being able to unlicense).
If anyone has any recent info, would like to hear, thx.

I've been waiting since 3-13 for a reply. I put in a second ticket on the 3-27 and I have heard nothing back. I called their phone number with no luck from that avenue either. I sent a PM to Solecismic on this forum; and did not get a response.
Other than repurchasing FOF, I'm not sure what else you can do (perhaps not buy anything associated with Elicense and maybe the developer will find anoter option to licensing).
I hope you have better luck than I.
Edit: make sure you don't block any of the emails. I have anything coming from Elicense being Starred by gmail so it will be hard to miss.

I last sent a request on Feb 6th, got a reply and a solution on Feb 12.

I entered a new ticket last night, used a different email address, and I got a response within 12 hours. :)

That's good. I'm not a good one to PM - I only use the PM system to send IWSes, usually I have PMs turned off otherwise, though I think I forgot the last month or so. Solecismic is easier to reach through the email address in my FAQ - you'll get a response from that within 48 hours unless the question is directly answered there.
Ordinarily, I'm not the one to talk to about licensing - ViaTech receives a significant portion of the purchase price to handle licensing and the credit cards.
I read this item last night and emailed ViaTech to ask how they're doing lately. I was told they are still short-handed, but would assign one of their developers to handle customer service until the backlog is handled. So it sounds like they've done so.
I don't like hearing that emails are ignored for a month, so I will ask what the long-term customer service plan is - after all, we all want the developers developing so that the technology becomes that much more useful and effective on Windows 7 and beyond. We also would like to see fast customer service without a "hey, how are you guys doing?" email every few weeks.
The bottom line is this technology only works as long as the licensing company responds quickly to issues. They know that. They've built a great reputation over the last decade or so. I'm sure this is only a temporary problem, but it is a serious one, and I'll keep asking about it as long as I have to. I like supporting small businesses like mine. I'm going to stick with them for the foreseeable future.

I got licensed at 2:33pm EST. So the turn around for me was quite fast. March 30th til April 4th. About the same as Julio (sorry missed your msg before) :).

Hi guys,
Been checking out the demo and I'm pretty sure I'll purchase the game in the next day or two.
However - is there any eLicensing wait involved in this? And has there been improvements in response time on lost licenses lately? I've never liked this type of DRM, and eLicense seems to be the least flexible when it comes to getting recovered when something ill happens. I'm just wondering if the initial download has all I need to get up and running without having to contact them, and if any current mishaps will result in a long silence.
Thanks.

Buying the game isn't the issue, it's when you have used both licenses and a computer with one crashes or you buy a new PC and want to move the license to a new PC. the old broken PC needs to be unlicensed.
New game no problems at all.

Okay, that's what I thought.
I've had to use eLicense through Battlefront a couple times so it's somewhat familiar to me. I had hoped that eLicense had at least picked up on what some other ones were doing, in allowing an install license to automatically replenish once every month or two which would also cut down on their workload some theoretically.
Thanks for the reply.

So my 5 year old laptop finally kicked the bucket last week. Needless to say, I was not able to unlicense my games prior to the untimely death. I am using a temporary laptop until I can buy a new one but still want to play some FOF from time to time in the next month. Problem is, I only have 1 license left without unlicensing the game from my old laptop. So, today I emailed eLicense and received a response back within a few hours. Not what I was expecting and I am quite happy:
Dear ,
We have re-issued a license for you. Use your Order Id to get a new license.
Please let us know if you have any questions or if we could be of further assistance.
Thank you,

Excellent. Very satisfied with this and just wanted to let people know that they have apparently increased staffing and turnaround with customer service issues. :)

I haven't played in some time, and decided to re-install and give it a go again. My computer has changed since...I've had a license reset request in since Tuesday (5/19) with no response (using their online form). I replied Friday to their canned email that was sent after the form was entered, so we'll see what happens.
I'd like to give a diatribe on why copy protection stinks for paying customers...but I think everyone's heard the arguments for and against copy protection anyway.
All that being said, this is still the best football strategy game that I've played. Thank you!

They replied Monday (5/21) with a license reset.

So I got bored on sunday and was going to reopen FOF for the first time in a long while. Anyways, apparently I had used all my licenses up(hdd reinstalls, etc). Going on the 4th business day here now for them to fix the issue. I'd assume that it probably takes them like a minute to resolve an issue(possibly as simple as flipping a theoretical switch). They must be backlogged again, or are just slackers.

I also had a laptop bite the dust a couple months ago without being able to unlicense, so I'm also in this position. I emailed them on the 4th. Any recent reports on how long its taking them to get back? Also, anything I can do to fix the problem myself or just wait it out?
