I was looking at my roster strengths in one of my leagues. I have one of the best offenses and defenses in this league. Tonight I was looking at the power ratings on Bens page. And my roster strength is 73.6. Yet we are #3 in the ratings.
Then I went to the Roster Strengths page in the game. And looked at each position group.
I noticed that, on defense, my starters just arent that good. Except for CB. But all the other position groupls my back ups are very good.
On offense, we are very good at most groups with the starters and the back ups are so-so.
So I got to thinking about how I build a roster. Obviously, I look for the premier position guys on offense. And I managed to acquire VG ones. The Tackle group is the best on my O line. The WRs 2nd best in the league.
On defense, it looks like i go for depth. 3 good players at DE and DT. I rarely spend money on LBs. Those starters are always poor. But I look to get 5 or 6 guys that have specific talents and use them to their strengths. An example, at MLB I will get a good RS guy to start. Then I look for a player with good PD skills for his back up. He will play the nickel and dime packages.
Stuff like that.
What type of things do you look for and how successful are you at getting those players and using them to their best?
